[Q] Problem with XPERIA U - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A little while ago I downgraded my XPERIA U to Android Version 2.3.7 , because it was malfunctioning on 4.0.4.
Ever since the downgrade, the phone has been doing fine , but when I connect it to PC through USB cable , the computer doesn't recognize the phone's memory.
At the moment of plugging , Sony PC Companion shows a little box at the bottom right corner of the screen , giving the message "Wait for the device to get connected" ,
soon after it says "My Sony XPERIA U (ST25) is connected" , but once I click on Launch Sony PC Companion , it shows the connection error with the 4-step guide.
I followed the guide but that didn't do any good.
Any tips ?

USB driver is already installed.
It's not the USB.

Have you enabled usb debugging mode in settings ???

I reckon "USB debugging mode" is not available on Xperia U.
The only possible option for USB connection mode is "Media transfer mode" (MTP) and like I said,
It's the only possible option, and therefore can't be changed.

xperia x10 problem

I got problems with the usb on my Xperia X10i. Everytime I connect the device to the computer it only charges the phone and nothing else; the computer says "unkown device" . I tried installing the drivers, pc companion, SE update....i've tried even rooting with superone click or flashing with flashtool but it doesn't recognize the device at all...
Oh, and something else, when I connect the phone to the computer it doesn't even display the message to chose the option ( mass storage, only charging, etc) and I can't even find Usb connectivity on phone.

Hey refldo
- When you connect mobile in flash mode to flashtool, doesn't recognize it?
- for usb storage check the following attachment by going to settings, storage, menu button, USB storage

To root the phone you need to turn on the ANDROID DEBUGGING in your settings.. go to settings->apps->development->USB/ANDROID DEBUGGING.... now flashtool should recognize your phone... also install drivers present in the flashtool folder....

[Help] Xperia doesn't stay in fastboot mode

I'm trying to unlock the boot loader of my Xperia U. But I'm having some troubles...
When I try to enter fastboot mode (pressing Vol Up + plugging the data cable in), I get a blue light (as supposed to) and on the Device Manager appears "S1Boot Fastboot", but my device doesn't stay on fastboot mode...
The blue light turns off and the "S1Boot Fastboot" device on the Device Manager disappears... This happens after 3 seconds after I plug the data cable in... and the phone enters in charging mode...
Is this a hardware problem? Or am I doing something wrong?
Driver on windows isn't installed correctly. Point it to the drivers directory.

How can I point to something that is not there (on device manager)?
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.
Try re-installing the drivers after removing them and restarting your PC.
- If possible try to connect to a different system altogether so as to confirm if this error is not specific to your system.
Cheers !

That doesn't always work. Plug the phone in in fast boot mode. Should pop up New driver

First, I'm sorry for the wrong section, cooleagle. Will be more careful next time.
I already have flashtool installed, and I already installed the drivers within it. What left for me is try to connect to another computer.
For me seems to be a hardware problem at first, not a software.. but I will try your suggestions.
BTW, on flashboot mode it stays.
As soon as the s1boot pops up in device manager right click and select update drivers. Normally Windows automatically installed the drivers provided it is connected to internet
Tapatalked !
Fastboot driver is the android_winusb.inf file, right? I point to that, but Windows tells me it could not find the propper driver...
The thing is: no matter how fast I am on pointing to this driver, the device always vanish first on Device Manager... Is this normal?
Did the same for me when i tried the first time but i was able to update the drivers just before it disappeared. Also one thing that happens on my phone is if i keep the volume button pressed for long it reboots, if i leave the button as soon as the blue light comes up it stays.

i had the same problem back then
But that flashtool method saved my day
I've tried that method that you have to be fast to install the driver
But it never works

The flashtool method you mean going in C:\Flashtool\drivers and install the Flashtool-drivers.exe? I already did that... but still nothing...
And I release the vol up button soon too..

i was quite ignorant when i did a full wipe of my xperia p.the only thing in my phone left was kernel,it boot until sony logo and i could not find solution to switch it off so as to enter flashboot mode.....then i found how to resart(power off ) device that battery cannot be removed. just hold the switch off button and volume + until the phone vibrate 3 times. then you could enter flashboot/flashmode by holding the volume + / or vol - while connecting the usb....i still had problem where error appear during flashing and phone resarting....i install gordon gate flash driver on my pc....and the key for a sucessful flashing of my device was when i was flashing for 1 second i notice that a screen appear on flashtoll asking to enter flashboot mode again it so i quickly removed usd cable hold the power off and volume + button until 3 vibration and hold the vol + button while connecting the usd cable it work.
to resume you must install ggf driver and have to enter flashboot twice during flashing

I would recommend manually installing the Sony Pc Companion from here http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/ making sure to install the drivers it provides for your device. Make sure your phone is plugged into your computer, also make sure USB mass storage is disabled, and that under the settings application then the developer options section that USB debugging is enabled.

Xperia Neo MT15i USB Flashmode not recognized

Here's the whole story, I tried to root my Xperia Neo using the Eroot application that I found on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2220568 , I tried a couple of times and it didn't work, so I did a factory reset of the phone and tried again and it worked, at least on the application side, but after that my phone became bricked and entered an infinite bootloop...
I made some researches here and there and find out that to be able to unbrick it I just had to flash the 4.0.2.A.0.62 or the 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware (the one for the Neo of course) using the flashtool, so I downloaded the firmware and the flashtool and followed the instructions.
The problem is, when I turn off the phone (by removing the battery et putting it on again), hold down the back button and plug the usb cable to enter flashmode, the LED on the side turns green (which is a good sign), windows make the new connected device sound but it tells me USB Device Not Recognized (Code 43 on the device manager)... The usb works fine, I mean I rooted the phone with so yeah... It only tells me USB Device Not Recognized when I try to boot it in flashmode or fastboot mode.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Best regards.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the OS i'm running, it's windows 8.1 and I actually don't have any other pc running windows 7 or xp to try things out on them. And right now I'm full charging the battery to try things again because I've read somewhere that it could be a problem too.

Indeed I do, this time when I try on the USB 3.0 I have the same problem but on the device manager it shows something else with the Code 43 but a message underneath it that says "A request for the USB BOS descriptor failed."
