General BadaDroid Discusstions! - Android Development on Bada

Hello guys, I've seen many people posting requests, or off-topic stuff in development threads! So I thought of creating this thread!
Basically here you can post anything,
The purpose of this thread is to keep development threads clean!

You are free to ask questions
You may go ahead and request anything you want or you want to know
You can talk about any Rom/Kernel here
You are allowed to ask any noob questions unless it is related to BadaDroid
Do not post any Warez as Xda rules say!
Do not post any off-topic things in development thread but instead post here
Also please don't quote OP!

Saw b.u.x thread, Looks like he shared CyanogenMod sources, He's github repository which has only some commits and PhilZ touch recovery sources!
But for kernel he shared BadaDroid sources and Mod locked his thread for kernel GPL license issue!
Here's mod msg-
Thread closed pending the release of sources. OP, please PM me when you're ready, thanks.
This thread is closed pending the release of the sources.
Kernel development is covered under the GNU GPL v2 license. This means that all necessary information should be available to every person interesting in compiling a kernel, including the source, information about the toolchain, etc.
Violating the GPL license means that kernel is technically illegal, and therefore can't be shared. As far as XDA is concerned, it's considered warez, and as such, discussions of this ROM/kernel aren't allowed and will be deleted without warning.

GNU General Public License*(GNU GPL*orGPL) is the most widely used*free software license, which guarantees*end users(individuals, organizations, companies) the freedoms to use, study, share (copy), and modify the software. Software that allows these rights is called*free software.
The GPL grants the recipients of a*computer program*the rights of*the Free Software Definition and uses*copyleft*to ensure the freedoms are preserved whenever the work is distributed, even when the work is changed or added to. The GPL is a copyleft license, which means that*derived works*can only be distributed under the same license terms. This is in distinction to*permissive free software licenses, of which the*BSD licenses are the standard examples. GPL was the first copyleft license for general use.
It is believed that the*copyleft*provided by the GPL was crucial to the success of*Linux-based systems, giving the programmers who contributed to the kernel the assurance that their work would benefit the whole world and remain free, rather than being exploited by software companies that would not have to give anything back to the community.
And it wasn't created by Xda
To protect our rights, GPL have made restrictions that forbid anyone to deny you these rights or to ask you to surrender the rights. These restrictions translate to certain responsibilities for you if you distribute copies of the software, or if you modify it.
For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether gratis or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that you have. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights.
They(GPL) protect your rights with two steps: (1) copyright the software, and (2) offer you this license which gives you legal permission to copy, distribute and/or modify the software.

If u want to add this Keyboard in Rom zip then extract my Keyboard zip & push all files to there respective places[Ex: Apk to system/app],
To remove CM keyboard just delete LatinIME with dictionaries from system/app/"here"
That's it

someone post their score too

@DeveDroid, Can you please isolate beats audio and dolby digital from your Xperia Z1 rom?
I'm facing the issue of very low volume in my wave II and I'm hoping that beats audio and dolby digital should increase volume a little bit.

But which rom are you using?
Try flashing patch which I provided In my rom thread!
I recommend using Noozy patch as it contains both Xperia Clear audio, dolby digital & beats audio,
And use internal equalizer from Noozy music player for better sound

h311s|KITCHEN (Hells Kitchen) is an Ubuntu-based Linux Distro
that is already setup and ready to go for developing:
ROMs (in accordance with dsixda's Android-Kitchen)
Kernels (in accordance with championswimmer's Kernel-Tools)
Built-in tools for modifying and theming APKs (Brut.all's apktool, jesusfreke's smali/baksmali and pxb1988's dex2jar)
A flashing utility for specific devices (Heimdall)
MTP, ADB, and Fastboot (that's right!)
A couple of Java GUIs (Emmanuel Dupuy's JD-GUI and Tomas Varaneckas's JAD)

CHECK POST #2 FOR REVIEWS FROM OUR ADMINS AND MODS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as I wanted to include the sun-java-jdk and jre, it was not possible because of the fact I wanted it to be part of Ubuntu. There are work arounds that I am currently looking into.
It has both openjdk 6 and 7. And they are fully functioning and working for ROM building with dsixdas and championswimmers kitchens that are included.
I have built a couple of public roms already from a live USB install.
This will not work on super brand new custom setups that have problems loading Linux already. There are a few graphics cards that hate me and Ubuntu so we will have to find out more by trial and error. Its only a 1.4gb download.
The source is below and is on Github. To use the source code, you will have to download it and unpack some of it. I attempted to upload everything unpacked, but got a notice from Github because the repo became 3.5 GB unpacked and they have a "rule of thumb" which is totally understandable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have attempted to include all the licenses within this post, but recieved this message:
"The following errors occurred with your submission:
The text that you have entered is too long (30042 characters). Please shorten it to 30000 characters long."
So I will include links below until a solution is found:

What the heck is h311s|KITCHEN?
h311s|KITCHEN is:
- a work in progress and in beta stages (please be kind).
- an Ubuntu-based Linux distro with many, BUT NOT, tools for creating your own custom ROMs.
- a distro that can be ran live or with persistence on a USB stick, or installed to your hard drive.
- a distro that can be installed in software like VirtualBox.
- an already ready-to-go kitchen and environment all-in-one
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Persistence Mode and Live Mode:
Persistence Mode will allow you to save changes to your USB stick so that after you boot, any files saved from you session, will still be there when you reboot. You can practiaclly carry a full Ubuntu Distro in your pocket.
Live Mode (Great for NOOBS who are afraid that they will mess up the current configurations and that are not comfortable with Linux) will pretty much do the exact opposite of Persistence Mode. Whenever you reboot, no matter what you have done in the previous session and no matter what was saved to the current session, will be reset and erased. So every time you reboot, you have a fresh new installation. This is useful also for anyone who wants a fast setup that they can take with them in there pocket and use on MOST computers. Also, you can run in Live Mode and just save your work to an internal hard drive on the computer you are using.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What the heck isn't h311s|KITCHEN?
h311s|KITCHEN is not:
- a magic tool to click a button and build a ROM
- a step-by-step guide for building ROMs (there are too many tutorials as it is)
- a reason to build your first ROM and start sharing it immediatley
- a magic tool to click a button and build a ROM
- setup for compiling AOSP from source

NOTE: I take no credits for dsixda's original "android-kitchen". dsixda has given me permission to include his kitchen under the agreement that I never alter or change it. The "android-kitchen" was git-cloned from dsixda's Github and has not been altered in any way.
You might see others refer to this as a "kitchen", and I do not want anyone to misinterpret the meaning with dsixda's. There is the definition of the word "kitchen" and then there is the name "kitchen" that almost always refers to dsixda's kitchen. dsixda's "android-kitchen" is a "kitchen" by definition, and since it is the best kitchen tool around, people refer to it as "the kitchen". A "kitchen" by definition is an Android Development Environment where developing takes place. So, this is considered a "kitchen" when using it by definition. But, I would appreciate it if nobody ever started referring to this project as "the kitchen". dsixda's kitchen has been around for some time, and has deserved to be known as "the kitchen". So please, this is "Hells-Kitchen" or the "Kitchen-Distro". Thank you.
ALSO: If you are having an issue with anything on this distro (ie: dsixda's kitchen, apktool, etc...), PLEASE do some research to see if others are having an issue in the developer's forum thread (ie: for the kitchen, go to dsixda's kitchen thread, etc...). If there seems to be no issues there, it is almost certainly something having to do with the distro itself, and NOT the tool. A lot of the developers were kind enough to give me permission to include their tools (even if their open-source license already permit it, I like to make sure the devs themselves are okay with what I am doing), and I do not want them receiving confusing posts on their threads about their tools not working (if this ever happens) when in fact it was a problem within the distro. Voice any concerns here first. Please.

Someone mentioned to me that this could turn out to be an even better Distro if we had a good team of people together working on it. I would like to get a team/committee together for this project. This is something that every dev should have on his keychain or as an emergency backup. Anyone interested in getting together with me on this, please send me a message. At the moment, I want to get a few other Developers together. There will always be space for newcomers and people learning the process, but for now I want to just get a handful of great and seasoned devs together on this project. Please contact me.

Thank you sooo much for giving it a chance. It has been tested by two VERY well-known Developers and they loved it. I have only had one person out of about 15 say that their hardware was not compatible with it.
Install it live and start out clean every time. Or use the persistence if you need to. This thing hauls major a*s even on a USB 2.0. I have actually never even tried it on a 3.0 USB Stick. It is fast enough with the 2.0.

Because if people are truly interested in learning to develop, they will want to go through the step by step of setting up the environment themselves, it gives the user much stronger understanding of what is going on. For the Linux noobs that this sorta thing is likely to appeal to, now they won't know how to do basic things like install a package or do a dependency trace. Not bashing your work, just answering your question.

I intended it to be a "live" Distro. And for educational purposes to newcomers. This way they can go through the source code and see a full environment and how it works as well. There are sooo many AIO, ready to-go, "push-button" tools out there. For Windows mainly. Building with a lot of the tools already provides no knowledge of packaging or installation. As I wrote in the OP, this is not intended for building your first ROM and then sharing it immediately. There is still much to add and change to this. Which when I release the stable version, there will be more information included and more for the newcomer to work with.
There will be a 32-bit distro and a straight Debian-based distro as well coming soon.
I also hope to split the HELLS-KITCHEN into a separate "noob" and a separate "dev" distro.
Thank you for your concern, as I share it with you and I do not want people that have no knowledge of android/linux building ROMs without knowing the process.
This distro was first built for someone in a class I am teaching to build ROMs. I volunteer my time to teach and help out about 15 new developers, and teach a daily class (2 three hour classes a day). I take them through the whole process that I am familiar with. I help them setup a development environment, all the way to building a ROM and using git.
Thank you thewadegeek for your input. I am honored to receive it

I am using caps so other people will read this. Not for you SiNtEnEl.
I DO NOT WANT ANYONE STARTING A MIRROR yet. Just because it is a beta distro. I need to know and be able to keep a record of downloads for stats on the "bug-report" and "pastebin" page I am building.
This is open source, so I cannot demand it, but would appreciate it if nobody did during beta stages.
This will help me and whoever else is involved build a better distro.
I will mirror and torrent this distro tonight. Please take down any mirrors please.

Going to try this for Sony ROMS and give you the feedback
This looks awesome It will really help in developing ROMS and ease-out editing apk's ..I will test this out for my Sony ROMS and feedback you

[ROM] [AOSP] [4.4.2] [email protected] [BareBones]

No nonsense near-pure aosp build with lowlevel optimizations.
Note: the rom only has en_GB localizations built-in.
Download ROM: https://app.box.com/s/fl0080htdp40l37lwles
It doesn't contain a kernel or gapps, so you need to download & flash these yourself.
[email protected] will work with: aosp-based kernels (not tested with CM, AOKP, PA & other colourfully-named derivatives)
The ROM is my daily driver but do test ahead, enjoy & let me know how it fares for you.

What you need: gapps
[email protected] will work with: aosp-based kernels (not tested with CM, AOKP, PA & other colourfully-named derivatives)
Test ahead, enjoy & let me know how it fares for you.

The following are reasonable formats that are suggested when posting a new ROM. We expect your ROM post to look somewhat professional and easy to understand.
1. Requirements (bootloader version, radio version etc)
2. State that it's from an official manufacturer or source base (stock ROM or AOSP-like source).
3. Thread shows a clear overview of changes made, in a way that users can see what has changed.
4. Explicit installation instructions.
5. ROMs need to identify what kernel they are using. If 100% stock then they must state that.
6. If custom kernel they must provide a link to the kernel on XDA (if available) or a link to the kernel source. This is required by GPL. Stock (untouched) kernels can link to the manufacturers source (if available).
7. At least 2-4 images (screen-shots) 1 of which must be of system/device info. Do not use photo hosts thay deluge users with ads and popups when they select the image. You can either attach the images, or use a hosting service such as photo-bucket for example.
8. Links to downloads. A link to a direct download is preferred. Linking to external websites home pages are not allowed, it must be linked to the Downloads page. Also use of "ad-driven" (adfly for example) or "commercial" sites are mostly not allowed. Registration on some sites "may" be allowed, but is subject to XDA Moderation approval.
9. Credits for sources used. Very important.
10. Keep your "asking for donations to a limit. You already have a "Donate" button.
Simply posting a link to some download site "here it is, download it", is not allowed.

agreed with simms this should be in the regular android development section
Wait a second if its just for testing then this ROM doesn't belong here and as well original development a featuristic ROM and if you are starting a new project then state some of the above mentioned points by the moderators

1: the OP contains enough info for the person with at least average intelligence
2: the rom is my daily driver; everybody has different needs thus the "testing" to see whether it fits the aforementioned needs
3: I definitely appreciate constructive criticism; please refrain from commenting if you're gonna do it just for the sake of commenting. Furthermore nobody is forcing you to use it.

technically as this download contains NO kernel parts, source is not required.
@adwinp
are you going to provide support for this ROM?
or are you just sharing your download?

For what? L3, L5 or L7...
Can i flash on my l7?
Thanks!
Hey! that good this return.
I was able to find these errors:
The option to center the clock within the branch system settings does not work
The Sheer option of the status bar does not work
The style option does not work with battery or with circle circle with percentage only works with percentage.
The option to show status bar at the bottom does not work.
The option to display navigation bar does not work.
Apollo gives enough problems as cuts to the music as well as delays for several seconds.
For the rest it seems to me quite smooth and good rom.

Did you ask permission from @linuxxxx to use the kernel????
If not then you are in trouble.
Amazing work. Looking at the screenshots, this seems like a nice, clean CM9 with some rather pleasant UI modifications. I yet have to flash this and give it a try, so for the time being, you have my praise, and I hope you continue to actively develop this rom.
Now, for the Cyanoid Kernel. @theowner997, I believe that his part is done just by actively mentioning linuxxxx and his kernel 2 or 3 times in the post. He has given proper credits to it, and even linked fully, and since linuxxxx made an awesome job on his kernel, it shouldn't be reserved just for his Cyanoid ROM. To clear things up, if OP used the kernel without mentioning linuxxxx and his work, I would find that rather rude and shi*ty of him. This way, everyone gets credited for their work and the community stays alive with another ROM that has the potential to be on top together with Cyanoid, especially by having Cyanoid's guts. It's not about having one ROM, it's about having variety, and actively showing that the LG Optimus L3 is indeed a device with undiscovered potential. Thanks to linuxxxx and Assuense for their part in keeping this phone away from trash cans.

You should read the XDA rules first, you are not allowed to use someone's work without taking permission, even if he put his name in the credits.
---------- Post added at 03:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:27 PM ----------
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails, you may then contact a Moderator and provide clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in the copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence that it was you who created the work, then in the spirit of sharing, all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by that developer. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie, allowing certain people to use it and not others). Should the developer decide to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes fair game for all to use, albeit with the relative credit displayed.
In regard to permissions, the same rules apply for this but if permission was already given and unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under extreme circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.

OK mr I know everything about my kernel and how I have to use it.
1- Kernel is under GPL v2, because of the Linux kernel license.
2- Open source DOES NOT mean no respect.
3- Yes it's true that he mentioned me but, give a look at the cyanoid kernel thread... Maybe someone didn't read well. Cyanoid kernel is for Cyanoid rom ONLY. I'm porting it for other Roms too, for other people, OK?
So, if you want to use Cyanoid kernel with your rom you can, but you have to ask at least permissions.
Shut up with this useless argument. I already spoke with assuence about this and I'll do the same with everyone that enjoy the art of copy-paste-steal
If you disagree I can tell you that you're breaking the #12 xda rule

EDIT:Uploaded non-SDMerge version
Updates will be released soon.
Assuense,
First and foremost, thanks for developing a ROM for teh tiny L3 .
I have 2 burning questions:
- Do you use your L3 daily?
- Is the "phone" part of the L3 important to you?
I've tried a bunch of ROMs. Some are slim, some have dancing unicorns and flashy doodads all over the place. I need the phone/calling/answering parts of the ROM to be stable and working. I need the SMS, GPS/Location & WiFi parts to be working too. I don't care about gaming or trying to watch HD movies on a small piece of plastic. Is there a known bug list of your ROM handy?

The phone, SMS, GPS/location seem to be working out of the box. It's been less than 24h testing this for daily use so I'll come back with an update soon.
A few UI glitches I noticed are present in most CM9-based ROMs:

What is the main benefit of your modded CM11?
On page 3 I read " ...It's faster, smoother and more battery friendly, but it's always CyanogenMod 11..."
Is this already the answer or is there another user friendly description I haven't found yet? I mean something which is easy to understand without reading tons of explanations or using a technical dictionary.

Hey there, it's me again. I just wanted to say that I found more or less what I was looking for
Someone put all the benefits of your mod plus useful hints in one single post in the official 'CM11 Nightlies' Thread.
Hi, It's based on M12 Snapshot? Many thanks.
Would you consider hosting ROM builds on some torrent enabled hosting? Torrents also includes crc/hash, supports download resuming (important on unstable 3G), parallel and p2p downloading (when selected mirror is overloaded) and there would be no issues with bad downloads/manual checksum checking before each flashing. I always burn torrent from AFH with bitburn (like burnbit.com/torrent/320771/cm_11_20141115_MARKOX89_i9100_zip) then feed it to Flud on my phone and it works like a charm, never worried about bad download. Only issue is that those AFH links that are burnt in this torrent will expire soon and may not work for others so at last one not expiring mirror would be required (or more seeders).
Mobile data not working
I can't seem to get my Mobile data working. I can make calls, send texts, use WIFI fine but It just won't connect to my mobile data.
I've tried.
Complete wipe with Hawker's scripts; NukeRom etc.
Different Kernels and Modems
Manual setup of APN's
Tons of reboots
I can post a log if no one seems to know a "quick fix"
Survey: which one is the most stable release according your experience?
Dear all,
i have flashed this rom only two times. First time i tried one released in march and the second time (and still using this one) the 20140723-MARKOX89-i9100 . I am not used to change what i consider "stable" if there is not a specific feature what i am greedy about or a bug that i consider critical to be fixed asap (like it happened in my case). This version is stable enough for me apart from couple of time per month when i have to disconnect battery or when music player stop working till a new reboot.
But actually curious to test last updates because i read (if i am not wrong) developers worked on kernel and improved even more this rom that already i consider incredible for my S2!
NOW!
i read some of view experienced weird behaviors with new releases so my question is: after the 20140723-MARKOX89-i9100 would you please suggest a specific release (please provide 2014XXXX-MARKOX89-i9100 name) which already benefits from the news implemented on kernel and which you tested and consider to be "stable" ?
Thank you all in advance!

You can use either Apolo kernel v7.1 or Dorimanx 10.44 v005. Can't help you with the accuweather thing.

Although your intentions may not be nefarious you can't trust anyone.

This tool is not open source.
Nobody obliges someone to use it, if you want you can, if you don't want, don't use it.
I want to specify that this tool have more of 200k of downloads.

I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this tool, I'm simply stating people should be cautious, just because it's been downloaded a heap of times doesn't automatically make it safe. Think back to when Lenovo was found having over 750,000 laptops spying on users.
I would trust the XDA community and their giving him a 3214 thanks meter.

I'm sure millions trusted Lenovo also.
OP didn't obfuscate, will be looking over the whole source.
Also OP, please name your forms/buttons/labels please, it hurts my head seeing Button1, Button2, Button33, Button7583, Form38748354

Done.
Finished looking over 40+ Forms worth of code, nothing evil is going on here, I feel happy recommending people here to download now.

I would have no reason to include something malevolent in such a complex app...

I'm not sure how the complexity of software would correlate to the likeliness of malware.

The irony of you recommending this tool after "looking over" the code is just funny. FWIW, I have never used this tool or any other like it and have no interest in it other than someone trying to help others.

I decompiled the executable and went over every line of code, nothing dodgy is happening, it just has a heap of calls to cmd passing parameters and also the adb and fastboot tool etc.

You might be missing my point. Your decision that is not malicious vs his original contention that it wasn't don't provide any more proof to anyone who didn't either review the code or write the code. All we have to go in is the XDA forum reputation. He is a developer on a developer site with a good one, and you have next to none. I don't think either of you are out to mislead anyone, and I certainly would not be the first to try a tool like this (if not for malicious code reasons, for "I don't feel like unbricking my phone" reasons). I wish you both well.

Fair point, I would encourage anyone interested to decompile and verify for themselves, I dislike closed source software.
