at&t galaxy s2 cant make calls!

Hello everyone, Im noob at this obviously and i really need some tech support ... i did read some info, I got my att s2 a week ago, i tried to installed the nightly ICS rom and i could connect to wifi or internet at all, tried with CM7, same problem. I gave up and just restore my backup. After that, everything normal but now I cant make any calls, or listen to the dial, anything. I think it is because of the baseband version... Ill put here my info: Its been rooted
Android version: 2.3.4
baseband: I9100XXLPH
kernel version: 2.6.35.7_ZedomaxStockKernel
Gingerbread.UCKH7
I figured out that I cant have that baseband for my i777, but I dont know how to get things back, Im desperated. please help!!!!! . Should I install the firmware from sammobile? I downloaded my firmware, tried to installed thru CWM but it said aborted, dunno what to do!!

Yes , I used once Odin, please I just want my phone to be back to calls and stuff
Go here. Then find the proper modem for the version of android you are on and you can use Odin to flash. Good luck and please use the search function.

The baseband is the modem. You are on gingerbread, so flash any of the gingerbread modems in the area I mentioned.

*#1234# does not work ?!
Ok, usually the PDA is the same as the Build version/number => DXLP9.
Maybe you have to reflash the kernel or the whole ROM to get the *#1234# work again on your phone.
Dial codes will only work only stock Samsung ROM's. With it being “build 4.2," I'll assume it isn't a stock Samsung ROM. Flash one if you wish to use these dial codes.

This is not accurate, sorry. PDA version is the build number of a stock Samsung firmware. Not baseband. Baseband is the same as phone/modem.

You're running Slim ICS; which is NOT a Samsung stock firmware. So technically, you don't actually have a PDA version.
Anyone else this this looks unusual?

Not really. Looks like a Gingerbread modem was flashed to an ICS firmware. That is only unusual in that it would never come like that packaged from Samsung. But it still should work just fine. Modems are cross compatible between Gingerbread and ICS.

Okay... got it.. also Jkay works with stock roms or custom roms which have support for it and i dont think that slim ics support it as of yet.

About to flash the Siyah kernel

I'm about to get my SGSII in about an hour and the first thing I plan to do is flash the Siyah kernel through odin and gain root. Is there a way to backup the stock kernel without root before I flash this one?
Thanks in advance.
you dont need to backup the original stock kernel. you can download it anytime, just use the search function. i recommend flashing a matching stock rooted kernel for your firmware, then perform traingle away and then flash siyah from cwm.

OK, thanks for the good advice. I will definitely go that route since this is the first SGSII I've owned and you would know better than I do. Just for the record if I did it my way would it have bricked my phone?

After getting your galaxy s2,
First thing is to Post your firmware details here; Goto Settings - About phone, and post everything you see.
You might not need to flash any kernel at the end the day.
Happy Independence Day!
OK just got the phone and they didn't send it with a battery...
Anyway here is the info
Model Number: SGH-T989
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: T989UVLH1
Kernel version: 3.0.8
Build number: IMM76D.UVLH1
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks!

Good.
1. Your device is T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy SII.
2. Flashing anything meant for GT I9100X including Siyah kernel will destroy your phone.
3. Visit the right forum for your phone, and continue from there: forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1329
Consider yourself very lucky!
Don't flash Siyah kernel at all
Happy Independence Day!
Wow thank you for saving me. Didn't realize there was a subforum for my phone. I definitely owe you one.

[Q] What kernel to use for XXKI4, confused about all the ROM's

Hi all,
It seems to be important to choose the correct ROM.
I have a rooted device with an XXKK2 kernel (CMRoot)
Now I want to upgrade to Jelly Bean and so I need a newer kernel.
But: can't find a kernel for XXKK2.
How can I decide what kernel to use?
And is there an explanation what all these chars mean?
Chainfire mentiones I should care about the KK2 part, but it seems there are no ROMs for ICS on this radio...
Is that true? Is the device too old?
Thanks a lot for your answer!
Pedor
More info pls go to Settings then about phone. Them details please.
Pedor you dont seem to know basic information, which is resulting in you posting total crap lol.
If you want a rooted JB setup, then go to sammobile and download a jb stock rom for your region etc, then flash philz kernel for jb.

@ OP we don't use CF Root with our S2 since the whole brick bug drama.
We now use ExynosAbuse (ICS only) , SU + BusyBox + CWM or a custom kernel like siyah ir the above suggestion.
You got the EverRoot option featured in Chainfire's Mobile Odin Pro.

I didn't read it well. I was going to say follow what you posted. With use of what gastonw said about mobile Odin ever root option. But philz is cool to though. More work for op though
His desires didnt make sense to me.He wants a newer GB kernel for JB lol.He doesnt mention whether he wants stock or custom.
