this mod allows you set a custom screen size setting ro.sf.lcd_density.xdpi and ro.sf.lcd_density.ydpi to other values.
you can also set the screen resolution using ro.sf.widthpixels and ro.sf.heightpixels
you can also use the qemu equivalent of those build properties.
unlike changing the dpi this mod spoofs the resolution. visually it will look like the dpi is modified but it is not. it allows for a more permanent solution to the command wm size.
the soure.zip file contains all the files that I have modified.
only set the resolution using numbers or you will cause a soft brick
Screenshots will not work if the resolution is set above default. I used a different app found on the play store to get that screenshot.
here is the build
cm-11-20140317-UNOFFICIAL-ypg1.zip
This build is for the galaxy player 4.0
what works the lower camera recorder resolution options now work. 480p records in 640x480 and qcif records in 320x240 for rear camera and 176x144 for front camera.
Nice job dude

thanks. I did this so I could have the 90 dpi look and feel but have a market compatible dpi. unlike using wm size to set the resolution. this mod servies wiping /data.
the x and y dpi mods came from oberservations I noticed on the nook simple touch.
source file reuploaded. phonewindomanager.java was modified to allow ro.hw.mainkeys to be used to enable softkeys, but the file in the old zip had the modifcations for my attempt to forward port tablet ui from and 4.3 to and 4.4.
once I confirm that zaclimon pushed his updates to get hub I will compile a new rom with this mod and will share it. since I had not synced my source code in a while, I will have to do a clean build.
I am compiling a ROM. I modified libcamera and media_profiles.XML in order to fix 480p and low res video recording.

to set custom resolution in build prop, set ro.sf.widthpixels and ro.sf.heightpixels to what you want. to set x and ydpi, set ro.sf.lcd_density.xdpi and ro.sf.lcd_density.ydpi to what you want.
I am currently compiling another build that might have working twrp recovery. I hope it works. If it does I will release the boot.IMG that can be flashed with heindall.
turns out twrp handles touchscreen drivers and modules differently and that is why twrp would not work.
I compilied a new build with zaclimon's latest commits. I will upload it tomorrow.

Since my galaxy player's USB data connection no longer works, I have ported this mod to my galaxy tab 2. I have discovered that I can just flash the modded files instead of a whole new ROM. I am working on being able to set a custom height and width dp. I can share the nodded services.jar file here if there is interest. All you would have to do is place the modded file in zaclimon's latest cm11 build zip file and flash.

Thanks to a miracle, I am able to continue modding this device! I will share a 4.4.4 build of cm11 that allows you to modify near!y all the display metric values.
This screenshot shows what is possible.

Does it work on wildfire??
Well i managed to test it yesterday.... but seems lyk it dosnt work ... i tried it with both launcher pro and htc sense .. the default density it shows is 120 on wildfire even after booting it shows the same density
It seems like the Wildfire suffers the same fate as Desire , right now this doesn't work on Desire either , because the Desire (and probably the Wildfire too) doesn't allow writes to system once it has booted up.
I tried Typefresh to change fonts and only got errors , then i used a Fontswitcher that runs on the PC instead , it uses adb to push the fonts onto the device, and i ran it in 'desire mode' which really just mean that i have to make sure it is in recoverymode before copying the fonts.
One thing to try is to boot up recovery , pull out the build.prop and edit it , then push it back in again. Might work. (that is what the app does essentially)
Default value is 120, LCD density changer won't allow you to use a value not included between 120 & 240. I guess it just needs an update, but you'll need MartinEve's kernel (r/w access when booted).
works as it should on my wildfire with puzzle rom
EDIT:
you have to enter a lower number than 120 to get it work. my wildfire is running with 100 fine. Higher number means lower resolution
Looks like crap though , apps don't resize properly , graphics becom grainier than ever and stuff. Text looks ok but graphics,

looks bad even with 110.... the problem is that apps have problem resizing
The problem is some games won't work well if i change density with LCD Density. If i don't use compatibility mode, the game is too large for the screen.
If i use it, then it gets blurry and laggy ( Jewles Deluxe for example )
Also some apps and widgets don't work anymore: ES File Explorer Force Closes always and widgetsoid force closes when adding widgets to home.
It's a shame...110 or 114 ( divisible by 8 ) was making wildfire to look awesome.
Any possible fixes? Or alternatives?
As the title says, this is default XPERIA Z wallpaper (you probably know that it leaked few days ago).
Beside original file, there is complete set of resized versions, to fit different XPERIA 2010/2011/2012 screen sizes, as well as different desktop displays and aspect ratios.
I tried to maintain the quality at highest level, with saving resized versions in PNG format (have in mind that original file is in jpg, so there would be additional loss of quality if saved again in jpg after resizing).
Resolutions included:
Phones / 480x320 / 640x480 / 960x854 / 1080x960 / 1440x1280 /
Desktop / 1440x900 / 1600x1200 / 1680x1050 / 1920x1080 / 1920x1200 / 2560x1440 / 2560x1600
Enjoy.

I just tested it, and it's working fine.
Maybe it was some temporary BOX server error.

This is the farthest I could go with contrast.
http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6722/xperiazsource.png
As, with any greater contrast, there are ugly bendings (visible color transitions) appearing on highlighted bottom part. Also, you didn't mention what wallpaper size you're interested in exactly, so I just changed contrast on source wallpaper.

The full scale H x V dimensions for Sony Tablet S and Xperia Tablet S ICS wallpaper images is 1920 x 1280 pixels, but the images must be cropped if they are to be displayed correctly.
Sony explains how to select and crop a wallpaper image in ICS HERE. To the best of my knowledge, Sony has not yet released a video showing how to crop an image in ICS, however, they do show how to crop an image in HC in this VIDEO located at YouTube's web site. Cropping a wallpaper image in ICS is done pretty much the same way as it was in HC.
I provided a wallpaper image template and explained the pixel dimensions and viewable areas of wallpaper images HERE. I hope you find the template and information useful.
I make my own wallpaper images using an image editing program on my PC then copy them to my tablet into a folder I created and named /sdcard/Pictures/Wallpapers. Any images stored in the tablet's /sdcard/Pictures folder and its subfolders can be previewed and chosen via the "Gallery" selection on the "Choose wallpaper from" pop-up that appears whenever you long-press on any blank area near the center of the tablet's screen. You can also get to the "Gallery" selection via Settings > Display > Wallpaper.
Of course, you could always download and install wallpaper apps, but most of them are advertisement based and they never provided the control you can have by making your own wallpaper images and cropping them yourself.
I hope you find my reply helpful.
This fine fellow seemed to have solved it but never went back to explain how.
I just want to record lower resolution videos (480p?) so they're faster to send than full 1080p ones.

im not sure if this could help you: http://support.bell.ca/Mobility/Sma...ow_to_change_the_camera_resolution_on_my_sony

I remember back in the earlier Xperia days (think Ice Cream Sandwich), there used to be a system file that can be edited in a text editor to configure the default app's resolution and whatnot. I just can't remember which file that was.
Also this is the only option available:

Plus I know I can just use a 3rd party app but I kinda want to get it resolved for the built in app first if possible.

now that you mentioned it I remember this.. this was a long time ago.
Here is a modded stock camera that should be able to change resolution according to the screenshots:

However its not related to our Z utra.
I looked around on the forum but can't find a thread related to the z ultra. But I know I've seen it years ago because I remember that I have modded the resolution and bitrade myself with config files just like you mentioned..when the thread was hot news.

I tried to flash the new camera but it's now lacking the microphone mute option. I did, however, find the solution to my problem. I restored to the stock camera and then opened the Camera Apps section (lower left icon) and picked Manual instead of Superior Auto. Then I finally had the resolution choice while still retaining the mic mute option that the newer one you linked lack.

You said to resize the "G-Logo" size. But is Not it Perfect?Do you want more smaller?Because I think it's size already adjusted to our screen size. And not distorting in my screen.
But If you want a smaller one after that then I'll try to do asap.

Hello, the animation lags maybe because of low fps. Also when i extracted the desc.txt file was showing 1080x2180 pixels it should be 720 i guess? Can you make a perfect one with 60fps?
