None of the 'Secret Codes' working - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't use ANY of the Samsung secret codes, like *#1234# or *#*#1234#*#*.
What does that mean and how do I fix it?

You've probably disabled or corrupted the software responsible, either undo what you've done or reflash.

May i know where u experienced the lag? how serious?
It was simply unusable. The only solution was restarting. Even after a factory reset wasn't helpfull. Now I have a new device. Until now all is ok. Fingers crossed!

That's if it's truly a hard brick and not a soft brick. Sometimes they can be misconstrued or you can just unlock it and it should fix everything.

Baseband is the modem version, IMEI is the unique identifier that registers you on the network. So I doubt the phone or data will work without those. Are you rooted?
I would do a full backup, and then try a repair in pc companion then post back.
I've seen someone else with a similar issue who's had to send it back to Sony for repairs as couldn't find a fix, UK that's the worst case scenario, start with a repair.

Then try flashing rom, there's a depository thread somewhere. Doesn't really matter, but try flashing one in your region.
When you say repair didn't work, did the process complete?

I am not rooted can I flash a rom? Yes the process completed several times. When it first started doing it I would get lucky and it would reboot correctly and I could use it until i booted it off and now I have not got it to do it once.

You don't need to be rooted to flash stock ROM and don't need to unlock bootloader either. I would suggest flashing 532 first and seeing how it is.

[Q] Revert to stock/locked

I haven't used the device in a while and don't even remember the procedures I used to unlock/root the device.
I was hoping someone could give me a quicky tutorial on flashing stock recovery and system so that I can claim warranty.

I may be mistaken, but I think some may wish to know the reason of your warranty claim. I have seem others get turned down on help due to fraudulant reasons for warranty claim.
So the only help you would get from me is read. It hasnt been that long that you have unlearned that part of the process.
Sorry my friend.

That's really pessimistic.. Dude the hardware is aged. Main issue is bad USB connection. Running kies may become an issue. We'll see.

U have to admit, some people have wanted to do a warranty claim for some really irresponsible reasons. We all nullify our warranty once we take that step.
No bad feelings here. You probably didnt even have to state a warranty issue.
Imo
Good luck

Rumor is that it's a qfuse/efuse, so it may be literally impossible to reset without hardware modifications.
