Bump this I am having the same exact issue today on my HeroC going between ROMs. Did you get this fixed? None of my nandroids even have data =(
Nothing worked, pretty sure one of the beta kernals broke the radio between flashes. Final result had my phone replaced

Dude, people on this site are not going to release kernels that will f up your phone. Next time you should probably do a little more research before you trade in your phone for a new one.
Patience is a virtue for most, but when its your primary line and data is f'd up I'm not going to wait. Research at the time was non existent for this matter. I had a new phone in 10hrs when I requested replacement. A dev suggested reflashing the stock radio and re rooting the device to restore data, this didn't take. Its flasher beware, something everybody knows. Devs even post this in the beginning of all threads. Everybody's phone reacts differently to each rom, kernal, radio, theme what have you. I'm just now sitting back and waiting for UD to be released

UD... LMAO
Gads. I've waited 2 years to root my phone and the first ROM I flash toasts it. I downloaded the Skyraider Zeus 1.3 and everything looked fine. When it rebooted, though, I realized I'm not able to do anything.
I slide the lock to get into the phone and I'm greeted by a dialog about in-call volume. All I can do is hit the Silent button and it switches between that and bluetooth volume. I can't figure out how to get past it so I can actually do anything.
Ideas?
ETA: Now I'm really sick to my stomach. I decided to restore from backup. Neither one of the backups I made prior to flashing are working.
Error while restoring /data!
WTF? Now I'm dead in the water.
4pm Update: I figured I have a brick now so I wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache. Now I'm trying to re-install Skyraider. I'm not holding my breath.
You're not bricked.
Go back into recovery...
Wipe data/factory reset 3x, wipe cache, and then wipe dalvik cache.
Flash the ROM.
You should be good.

Thanks. I did that and it worked. I guess I have to reinstall everything.
Why would two different backups fail to restore? The first I did manually last night through Titanium. The second I did when I flashed through ROM Manager.
That's your problem using rom manager. Download 4ext in the play store and you wont have backup issues.

Will do. What a debacle it started out to be. I think I'm ok now. I got the ROM working and for some reason although I wasn't able to boot into recovery and restore I have been able to restore my apps and data through Titanium. I have to say buying the Pro license was worth not having to acknowledge each install.
One thing I noticed is that I used to be able to slide the task bar down and have two options. Initially it was set with notifications but I could select a tab to make quick selections like enable/disable the hotspot, etc. I'll have to figure out why I only see notifications now. Maybe that's just part of the ROM behavior.

That's strange that you don't see the quick settings tab.
Usually after flashing a ROM through recovery, I flash it an extra time so that I know it gets all the files through.
I know when I flashed Gingeritis 3D, I couldn't get the music player to stop force closing when I changed the music sound effects. The only way to fix these issues and a few others was to flash it a couple more times, without wiping anything at all. Dirty flashes (not wiping) could possibly fix any issues as long as you haven't changed any of the ROMs settings or set up anything.

So far this ROM seems to be much faster jumping between apps than stock. I'm going to play with it a few days and then throw caution to the wind and try the Skyraider ICS ROM. :silly:

Nusense is actually on my list. These are what I was initially looking at trying:
Liquid Smooth AOKP
SkyRaider Zeus 1.3
NuSense
I think I'm like most Tbolt users that are tired of waiting for ICS. I wasn't sure about Nusense because I was believing that Sense was the source of a lot of my problems. However, SkyRaider (even though it's neither ICS nor Sense-less) is running considerably better. My phone was next to useless. It might take 1-2 min just for the stupid thing to dial a # once it was selected. I'd tell people if I ever needed 911 I'd be dead before it even dialed. I also had a lot of problems with messaging and general performance. So maybe it was just a bloatware problem that was dragging me into the mud.
Now that I'm having a positive experience with SR I think I'm going to make NuSense my next one. It looks very promising. I appreciate the warning and help to steer me clear.

You should try Twisteds version of Liquid ICS AOSP . Only problem is Netflix and video can don't work. But other than that its a great rom --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33076925

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I don't use Netflix much from the phone so that's not a deal breaker.
How is it with data? I flashed NuSense yesterday morning and flashed back to SkyRaider last night. I couldn't stay connected. The data drops were horrible. It was odd. I'd have the 3G/4G icon like I was connected but couldn't surf/email/etc. Then other times I'd lose the 3G/4G altogether. Sometimes resetting the mobile data would work and other times it would just laugh at me.
I guess I didn't give it much of a chance since it only lasted <12 hours but it was driving me nuts. Nothing like spending time with family and not being able to surf and escape.
Any liquid based ics rom is plagued with data drops.

Ugh. That's not good. SkyRaider has been rock solid on data. The only thing I've really run into is it seems flashing my apps with app2zip only works on some things. I end up having to re-flash Kindle, Lookout, and a few other apps once I'm up and running again.
I was really looking forward to ICS but not if data drops are the norm.
Hello everyone, this is not utterly important but I was wondering if anyone else have this bug, let me explain :
It's random but happens almost everytime. When i plug or unplug the phone for battery charging, the clock screen pops up (not the one for alarm settings, the other one which is pretty much like the unlock screen). From that precise moment, loud speaker activates automatically for any call I make or receive... rebooting the phone fixes it so it's no big deal... yet i'm curious, can anyone confirm or is it just me ?
Happens with any Cm9 or Cm10 I think, well... in my case at least. Thought it could be related to the broken offline charging thing in Cm9 and later versions but i dunno.

Use a proper stable recovery.. wipe everything except sdcard. Everything. Then try flashing a new rom.
Same thing with Cwm and Amonra. Now using Twr and no changes. Not sure if I repartitioned my sd since the first time I encountered this issue but I don't think it could be related to this. Of course I wipe cache, dalvik and system partition everytime I flash a new rom and I wipe data as well most of the time. Thanks anyway
Never to me. I think the blame is you kernel!

Can be the reason. Remove partitions.. format your complete sdcard in fat32.
Even if you dont have partitions.. do it.

I've had the same problem with my phone (GT-i9100T) on the other side of the world. Most information seems to point to the SMSC number changing or disappearing. This happened on my phone, and it won't return to stock settings. So I also can't send any SMS.
I found that mine has a phone information screen available by typing *#*#4636#*#* but that might be different for yours.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i'm having this issue now. i can send/receive MMS. i can receive SMS, but i CANNOT send SMS only.
searched xda and this forum and have tried almost everything mentioned.
here is the breakdown.
currently on Hellybean 1/14 version (android 4.2.1).
i have checked the smsc in *#*#4636#*#* and it is correct.
i have checked my apns and they are correct.
i have full wiped and reflashed the rom.
i have redownloaded the rom, full wiped and reflashed.
i have downloaded jellybam rom and still no sms.
i installed go sms pro and set the custom smsc there.
none of this allowed me to send sms messages.
i put my sim in another non android phone, and could send sms
now, this is where the story gets interesting.
i odin'ed back to stock, and lo and behold, could send sms. cool
rooted the phone, still sending sms messages. good.
(please note that i did full wipe between any flash from here on out)
flashed task/ktoonsez ICS AOKP, guess what! sms messaging working. another plus.
flashed tasks 4.1.2 aokp, still working, good deal!
so then flashed latest hellybean 4.2.1 again, sms is dead again. checked apns and smsc and its all there.
tried jellybam 4.2.1 and still not working.
does my phone just not like 4.2.1? am i destined to live on 4.1.2 island forever with this phone?
any ideas?
as a temporary fix, i am just adding a subject to my sms messages, thereby making them mms messages, and those are going through just fine. this is frustrating, been fighting this all night.

Try going back to the aokp 4.1.2 and then try flashing slimbean 4.2.1 but make a nandroid for the aokp just in case. Somewhere it might be losing the smsc in the hidden menu when u go back to 4.2.1 when u flash it try using the shortcut in the 1st page to get to the hidden menu and check to mack sure the number is still there and nothing got switched off. If nothing else try re-adding the number and reboot see if it fixes it.

It might. U can look under the ported android section for the s2. Quick question though, are u on the i777 or the i9100? That would likely be the cause if ur running an i777 ROM instead of the i9100. U may very well not be able to run 4.2.1. Its still a mystery to me as well. When u did the hidden menu and all that what number did u out in? I think in the link to the other thread there is a link a number for vodaphone. If not try googling what it would be and enter it. I had to search for days on there trying to find it. I'm definitely on a i777, got it before my international assignment. Have had it for a while now.
When I did the hidden menu, I had to convert the SMS to pdu.
Maybe just had a breakthrough. On 4.1.2 and was working fine. Flashed the latest modem, uclk3, and SMS stopped working. Flashed back to ucle5 and working again. Strange thing is when I was on 4.2.1 and ucle5 modem, SMS was not working. Going to flash back to a 4.2.1 ROM and try a few modems and see if that won't fix my issue.

Hope it works for ya. I know most ROMs bundle their modems with the ROM. But there's a list if modems in the i777 forum that has em all listed. Not sure if any of em have been updated for 4.2.1 yet but its worth a try

Thanks.
thats where i got the uclk3 modem from.
Hello, I have had my phone for about a week now. I bootloader unlocked using HTC Dev and now s-off with moonshine. I am on stock rooted ROM with the latest software version. Every time I flash a new ROM, everything works but WiFi. Networks show up and everything and it tried to connect but it doesn't. Am I forgetting to flash something? I am using the latest version of TWRP and even tried Clockwork. WiFi won't connect with either recovery.

I also forgot to mention that I do a full wipe also. Data, dalvik, cache, and system.

What ROM's have you flashed? Did you have this issue when you were stock? If so you may have a hardware issue.
Also, stay away from ClockWorkMod, as it can be problematic on the EVO LTE.
Everything works fine on stock. I have flashed CM 10.2, Evervolv, Vanir AOSP, Avatar, and maybe a few others i can't remember. Everything seems fine when I flash, except the wifi issue. I was thinking maybe it was a kernel issue, but I don't think so now.

You can try toggling airplane mode on and off, and try to connect. Not much else I can think of. WiFi always seems to be a little wonky on AOSP, at least for me, anyhow, but I can always get it to work.
I will try that, thanks. Will report back. I remember I had to do that a few times on another device to get WiFi working properly.

There might be some patches available for that... so checkout the developer's page and also view their changelog in order to make sure that its not a bug....

I just flashed Evervol again and tried the airplane mode toggle trick. It still didn't connect. I am going to do more research and will get back with you all.

By chance do you have ATT Uverse? Just curious if yours is the same issue. My phone will only connect/disconnect to wifi when it wants to. I only have that problem on AOSP roms though, not on Sense roms.
I have been searching the last couple hours researching and still can't find the problem. I am trying to flash AOSP Roms. I will try a Sense rom and report back. Thanks, you guys..

You could also try flashing stock which you said worked then restore your aosp backup without turning WiFi off just a thought
