PSA: Get the 65GB Google Drive space - AT&T HTC One (M8)

As you guys know the international/dev edition m8 comes with 65gb of free google drive space. I believe the verizon version has it as well.
I didn't get this on my phone (seems like AT&T always cheats us of it) So I decided to chat in with Google Drive support and told them I just got the m8 and I didn't get the 65gb of space for two years promotion. He had me go through the product tour to look for a redeem option. There wasn't one. He then manually added the 65gb to my drive account.
To to the page:
https://support.google.com/drive/?hl=en#topic=14940&ts=2406486
click the contact us link on the top right then select the "Google storage" option. You will then have an option to either call in or live chat. Just tell them you were supposed to get 65gb for 2 years when purchasing the HTC m8 and you didn't get your space. win!

Nice work. I was going to call Monday. Thanks!

Nice. But I already have 100gb from my chromebook. I think I will wait for one year to redeem it.

I called HTC earlier today and spoke to someone about it. She asked for my IMEI, and saw I had a M8 on AT&T. She then asked for my name, and email address, and emailed me a link to activate the promotion.
Long story short, maybe just call HTC instead of worrying about dealing with Google. :good:

"If I purchased a used/refurbished HTC device or unlocked the bootloader on my device, can I redeem the offer?
No. The offer is only available to original buyer of a device over its lifetime. Users who unlock the bootloader on their device are not eligible to receive this offer."
Haha lol

I just attempted this. Google Drive support merely referred me to HTC Support. I sent them an email. I will report back if they hook me up. Seems like it depends on the tech support person you get, but Google is probably not the first point of contact.

That worked with almost no hassle. Nice find! I wish the space was permanent (asking too much, I know). I hate getting space that rolls off. I'm afraid to use it, since it's not permanent. I find that I just end up hoarding space that I never use.

Got it via email to htc first message was steps to try to redeem on my phone, after I said it doesn't work they sent me a link =D success.

Worked for me too!

So here's my story..
I did what everyone else listed in this thread, called Google they told me to contact HTC, did a live chat and the rep sent me a email with the link to redeem 50GB of storage space. After clicking the link it said i already redeem this offer.
So i called HTC CC number and they don't know why it's saying i've already redeem this offer.. They said it could be a Google cap issue or maybe something else. So they asked me for every promotion i've redeem in the past and i told them. The only 50GB i've redeem from HTC was for my HTC One Max.. i'm not sure if this is the same promotion they are sending out. But they took my information and said a tier 2 rep would be contacting me to resolve this issue

Wow, thanks. It worked and I don't even own an HTC one m8. I chatted with HTC online c.s and it took like 1 min. She sent the redeem link to my email and I was able to activate.

HTC Repair

Okay, don't know if anyone has any help they can give, but I sent my Evo lte in on July 25th because my camera app had the
black screen when opening it, they got it on the 27th.
Have had it in and out of the "repair" stage. Now it's Aug. 20th. My phone is in no better condition. 10 calls, no help.
I emailed the CEO. I doubt i will get any help from him. For God's sake don't mail in your phone. Any one else go through
something like this with HTC??

Have you attempted to go to your local Sprint store, and explain the scenario? If you have a good rapport with the local manager, they might give you a replacement handset, at least until your phone returns from HTC. However, mailing in the phone is a Hail Mary, IMHO. Better to go to the local Sprint store, and they will refer you to the closest location that does hardware, etc. repairs. I went through this with my HTC Evo 4G.
I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting to hear back from the CEO.

I modified the HTC One X petition to fit our needs for the emails, as follows:
I am loyal Verizon Wireless customer and a proud owner of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE. It is a beautiful device with powerful potential. All I ask is that Verizon allows HTC to issue unlocks to owners of the Droid Incredible 4G LTE that choose to unlock it.
This phone has the potential to be an excellent platform for development. I consider the ability to modify the software running on the phone to be an essential feature. The current inability of the Droid Incredible 4G LTE to accept custom firmware is already dissuading some from purchasing this phone, and even causing others to consider returning devices that they have recently bought.
Once purchased, the Droid Incredible 4G LTE is our property alone to modify if we choose. HTC CEO and President Peter Chou promised that all HTC Android devices launched after September 2011 can have their bootloaders unlocked if the owner chooses to do so. And here I am, asking for that promise to be fulfilled.
Unlocking the Droid Incredible 4G LTE helps the development community do what they want with their devices. By unlocking the Droid Incredible 4G LTE, HTC and Verizon are supporting open hardware and software, the way it was meant to be. Please respect our freedom to do what we want with our devices.
Please allow the bootloader unlock.

I sent an e-mail:
Dear Kevin Tillyer,
I am a loyal Verizon Wireless customer (since 2001) that has been struggling to cope with the locked bootloader on the HTC Incredible 4G LTE. I purchased this device at full price and I was looking forward to a new phone on which I could develop and expand functionality. My original HTC Incredible was terrific fun to use as both a daily driver and development device. Two days before my new phone arrived, HTC ended the unlockable bootloader availability for the Incredible 4G LTE. Their replies to my inquiries never said it directly, but it became quite clear that this had been done at the request of Verizon.
There is a growing community of users just like myself who place their faith in Verizon to serve them better than any other wireless carrier. One of the best ways Verizon could do this today is by giving HTC the green light to allow user development on the HTC Incredible 4G LTE. Given the lack of enthusiasm this phone is currently generating, an open development platform made possible by a simple bootloader unlock could give the phone a noticeable boost in sales. This is a win for Verizon and users alike! Additionally, customers like myself will be more inclined to stay loyal to Verizon and encourage others to join the most progressive wireless network in the world.
Please give HTC permission to make the bootloader unlockable on the HTC Incredible 4G LTE. Your help in this matter will be recognized by a great community and word will travel.
Sincerely,

Update....
Have any of you guys gotten a phone call from Verizon on this yet?? I did last night, a gal named Jennifer from Mr. Falco's office. He is the Executive director of the South region, even though I didn't email him, but I live in Texas, so that's probably why it got forwarded to him.
I did not speak with the lady who called, at the time I was unavailable, but she did leave her contact number for me to call and I do plan on calling her back today or tomorrow, however, I don't want to just say, "I'd like to root my phone to get rid of your bloat, so how about it"? I'd really like to be prepared as should you guys if you actually get contacted. With that said, can any of you put down here some dates and examples of Verizon phones that have gone this route, then been unlocked. I own the DINC and if I'm not mistaken when it first came out, it was locked, and then unlocked.
I also don't recall leaving my phone number, on there but I left my email, so they must of went by my name and pulled up my account, and called me from that, I guess.
You guys might look at that list and see where abouts you live and direct that email to your region director, because the ones we emailed may not be the particular person for each individuals area.

yes, i call them on that exactly today, told them i checked out sprint, he said someone down the road will figure out how to unlock it sooner or later, if history repeats itself. SO.
I got a call from Chelsea at the West Region office. We had a polite talk where I explained what can be gained. She gave me the standard lines about potential for users to be unable to connect to Verizon's network. She also asked if I had tried any third-party methods and I told her those efforts are in the works but haven't happened yet. She said she would pass on my concerns to upper management. Hopefully if enough regions hear the same thing we might get traction here.

[Q] Dropbox 23gb offer on AT&T?

When the One X came out there was a promotion where you would receive 23gb for two years on dropbox if you signed on from a One X. According to this HTC is running the sam promotion again on the One X+.
I am on the AT&T version of the phone and tried signing on to dropbox from my phone, but to no avail. The extra storage was not added on. Any suggestions? Am Is it a problem on my end? Or does the promotion just not apply for the AT&T version?

According to dropbox, the promotion is valid for the new or exist accounts but didn't associated to another htc sense device from before.
I had the same problem, i had a dropbox account which was associated with my previous device (htc sensation), so when i connected it with this phone i didn't received the 23gb promotion over my account, so after some search i found that i couldn't had this promotion, so i connected the phone with another account that i had before and it didn't associated with any phone, and directly i received the extra memory

But I haven't got it automatically so I've email the Dropbox-support for giving me manually 23GB's of storage, no problemo!

If that doesn't work then make your way through the contact us part of the website and follow the links as if you were going to email them about the issue and it will be explained how to do it. Sorry don't remember all the steps but it wasn't hard at all.

This page on Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/help/249/en) makes it look like AT&T and Verizon opted out of the promotion. Are AT&T customers getting this free space? If so, how?
Yes I'm on AT&T and got it this morning. Just keep following the links about it and you'll get there. But all you should have to do is go to www.dropbox.com/gs and sign in.
Or follow the "get free space" links.

Still not working. If I follow the links it eventually brings me to that page I linked to before that says it's not available for AT&T (or Verizon). Can you recreate your exact steps?
I will do that and post how exactly what I did. However it will have to be later as I'm not with my netbook at the moment.
Just to be clear you are going online on a computer and not your phone right?

I went to try and retrace my steps and see now where it says AT&T and Verizon opted out of that. But I swear I got it this morning and I'm on AT&T. I do t remember exactly how I did it. Try doing it through the dropbox app on your phone. See what happens. I just remember it told me to go to www.dropbox.com/gs and I instantly got two emails. One saying I got 23 gigs for sense 4 and 3 additional gigs for sense 3.5 or higher.

That's weird, still not working for me. I'm hesitant to submit a request because they'll just tell me I'm not eligible on AT&T, and I don't want to ruin it for anyone else if there's some glitch.
Oh well, I got like 15 extra GB through my association with an .edu email address, so it's not the end of the world or anything. But if anyone has other ideas then let me know.
create an account on your phone. I just did it and i got an email 5 seconds later saying " claim your 23 gigs"

Yeah but the point is I'd like it on my already existing account.
I bought my One X+ a little over a week ago, and just now got the email about the 2 year storage this morning
I haven't gotten anything from dropbox...
I am AT&T and I tried using the apk from the "missing after bootloader unlock" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997511&page=2) thread and no luck with email or extra space.
I'm on AT&T as well, and I tried setting up a new account, but, no luck so far.
Although, I didn't really try too hard, because I figure 2.5gb is enough for the time being. Otherwise I might get all comfy with my 25GB and then BAM, the 2 years is over and it's time to move out or pay up, lol.
That is how I rationalize it at least, hehe. I also wasn't aware it was a 'Sense' thing. I signed up on a custom rom which was 'De-Sensified', so that might be why I missed the offer.
Remarkably, 4.5 months after getting my HOX+ on AT&T, I just received an email from Dropbox this weekend telling me about my extra 23 GB:
"Hi Adam,
Congrats on becoming a Dropbox Guru! We've awarded you 23 GB of bonus space for the next 24 months. You now have 43.5 GB on Dropbox. To get even more space, check out our upgrade options.
Thanks again for supercharging your HTC device with Dropbox!
Enjoy,
- The Dropbox Team"
I wish I knew what I did this weekend to prompt this, but it seems to have magically appeared! FWIW, I'm running Elegancia 4.8.0.

Gipped: Media Link Not Delivered

Hope someone can help with this one.
My GF had to go to an AT&T retail store to preorder her One because the Premiere website wasn't workiing for her. She got the phone, but they didn't ship the Media Link adapter, and I know she ordered well within the promotional period, and that there was still inventory available because of posts made here after her order that confirmed it.
We went to the store and inquired, and they said we had to call customer service, so we did. After a while on the phone with customer service, we were told to go to the store.
It would be helpful if anyone here has a part# or SKU# - and perhaps any advice for us on how to go about next steps, so we can get this done.
Thanks in advance!

Item: HITECH PJ83100 ACCESSORY
Part Number: 41398
AT&T is ostensibly clueless when it comes to the availability of this product. I had one ordered prior to the presale, and one after it was clear the former wasn't coming. After the second didn't come they told me they couldn't even guarantee it would ship at all so they found a local shop that had one in stock and sent me to pick one up there.
And then, so you know, unless you have a tethering plan it'll be a glorified paperweight until an update is released by AT&T (or HTC). It doesn't work.
i never got mine... called at&t and got a 180 bill credit for not getting them. worth it in my opinion
Interesting. I ordered mine on the 16th, in store, and my rep couldn't get the Media Link HD to populate in the cart. So I just figured I wasn't gonna get one, which wasn't a big deal since I wouldn't have really used it anyway.
However, last week I got a random email from AT&T stating it was on its way. They must be fulfilling the backorders on it automatically now.

This info worked, thanks. Got the local store to order one up.
There is a flashable zip file which makes the unit usable under the AT&T ROM, or you can flash a custom ROM like ARHD which likewise does the problem.

Damn, they cancelled mine and only gave me 90 bucks off my order for the One. How did you pull off 180 credit?

the update was released by htc... it works now without tether or custom rom.
I noticed that mine didn't end up shipping either after a few weeks. I called premier support, and was told that I would need to call general support to update my "rate plan code" in order to be eligible. I had no idea what that meant, but I figured it would somehow involve AT&T trying to screw me into upgrading my call/data plan.
I called general support, and they were clueless of both the promotion and what a "rate plan code" was. Isn't this company just great? However, after an hour and a half on the phone, we finally got everything sorted out. They ended up opening a new order and manually discounting the item.
I finally got it the other day. Now, I just need to find a way to allow the media link to still stream video with the phone screen off, so it doesn't rape my battery life. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a fix available?

Nexus payments plans available!

For those who want a nexus but can't afford $500 at once, you can order through huawei U.S.. They accept payment plans and don't charge taxes in certain states. I feel bad that the carriers are not selling the new phones, and that's some individuals only means of obtaining a new phone due to allowing monthly installments. The link is below for those who want to finance a nexus.

The financing options fails everytime I proceed to checkout at Huawei. I've used 2 browsers on my PC and 3 on my phone. Something about local storage error can anyone get it to work?

Affirms website must be experiencing issues cause it keeps kicking me back to Huawei's site. IF this works I owe you a beer!!!

Thank you for choosing Huawei Device USA Chat Support. A representative will be with you shortly.
info: at 11:57:18
You are now chatting with 'Zachary'
you: at 11:57:45
Hello, I'm trying to order the Nexus 6. Is AFFIRM having issues cause I keep getting an error after I click place order.
Zachary: at 11:57:58
Hello and apologies on the issue.
Zachary: at 11:58:24
Unfortunately, the Affirm option is unavailable for Nexus 6P pre-orders at this time.
you: at 11:58:40
Why is that?
you: at 11:58:51
It gives me the option.
you: at 11:59:14
Do you know when it will be allowed?
Zachary: at 11:59:23
As the Affirm option is available for other products, it still may be showing, though as this is a pre-order the option is unavailable.
you: at 12:00:15
So when will it be available? When the phone is no longer in pre-order status? IF so when will that be?
Zachary: at 12:00:58
We have not heard when this option will be available again. I do apologize for this inconvenience.
you: at 12:01:06
Okay thanks!
Zachary: at 12:01:20
We thank you for your inquiry today and hope your experience with Huawei has been a pleasant one. In an effort to continuously improve our service, please click 'close chat' in the upper right corner and you will be provided a survey to complete.
You can get payment plan with Google if sign up for project Fi. Then, I guess, just don't activate your free Fi SIM..

That's different news than I got that I posted above. If so, I'll try again later. Appreciate it!!
I feel like they'll ship the device quicker than Google too

No frost option either.
Edit: Just had a chat with them, looks like the Frost option is Google only for now.
It looks like it is going through now on the Huawei site if you plan to do the monthly payment route w/ Affirm. The caveat though is you pay interest so you pay more in the long run.
The best things about ordering through them is you'll probably get the device earlier and no tax for certain states. I just don't know how their support is if an issue comes up.
I do have mine pre-ordered off Google for the 50$ gift card, but who knows I might cancel it and save me the tax money.
I finally got the affirm option to work but when it kicked me back to the Huawei site I got an error with no confirmation. I did get a text from affirm saying I was charged though. I chatted with Huawei and while I was I got the confirmation email. It doesn't have an estimated ship date and the genius at Huawei told me he couldn't give me one because the release date isn't announced yet...
I tried several times this morning, the Affirm option never even worked, it just gave me an error.
I e-mailed them and got this reply;
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Affirm!
We are currently experiencing a technical issue and have been working with Huawei to resolve this matter. We apologize for the inconvenience, and encourage you to try again at a later time.
If you have any additional questions please contact us at 855-423-3729 or email us at [email protected]
We thank you for your continued patience,
Best Regards
Ramy
UPDATE:
Still not working, I get this error
We were unable to connect to your Capital One account with the information provided. Please check your information and try again.
I entered in my correct username and password. just logged into the real account, and it worked, so not sure why Affirm can't use the same password and username ?
Why would affirm need your capital one info? I put in very basic info and was approved in seconds. No bank account needed
Just did mine again and it went through.
On Huawei's site it shows processing order. I got the 64GB Aluminum.
I tried and go to the point to add my bank account which proceeded to fail will probably just order from Google later or charge the full amount from huawei wanna see which ends up shipping faster
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Had errors yesterday and earlier today but went thru just fine about a hour and a half ago, 64gb Graphite pre ordered and stupidly excited, I plan on paying it off quickly to avoid all that interest, affirm does credit you back if you pay it off early (so you don't bite all the interest)
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
Congrats to those who were able to successfully order a phone. I'm happy to deliver some helpful news to the group. Now hit my thanks button my brothers hahaha jk.
Just so you know, I looked into this option and they charge a minimum of 10% interest and go all the way up to 30%, depending on your credit. If you don't mind changing carriers, are not a heavy data user and don't mind waiting a while, go to Project Fi and request an invite. Once you get accepted you'll get a chance to by either Nexus on a 0% interest(they do a credit check) with low monthly payments spread out over 24 months.
Alternatively, you can find a credit card with a year or more 0% interest introductory offer and finance it through that. PayPal credit will also give you 0% interest for 6 months or more.
