[Q] help problem after flashing TWRP with ROM Toolbox - Samsung Galaxy Star

okay.. so i installed ROM Tool Box.. and checked the ROM Manager.. and Flash Recovery... i was surprised to see TWRP 2.7.0.1 available.. so in surprise.. i flashed it... it didnt even complete.. there was no more space on the partition.. and i didnt got any TWRP but i screwed up my device.. ._. well.. it didnt got bricked.. the only problem is instead of showing.. samsung and model name.. during boot.. it shows red blue green dots all over..
so i did some research.. and here is what i found.. ROM Toolbox uses the the device name to identify the roms, and recoveries avilable.... which in case our device's name is "mint"... but here is the problem.. Sony Xperia T lt30p device name is also mint..
i got this from lookin at the recovery downloaded by ROM Toolbox.. which was 'openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.1-LT30p'.. i googled LT30p and found it was Sony Xperia T.. so i checked it build.prop and here is a part of it
build.prop for Sony Xperia T LT30p
Code:
ro.product.brand=Sony
ro.product.name=LT30p
ro.product.board=MSM8960
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabiro.product.model=Xperia T
ro.product.device=mint
so there;s that.. and the main problem for me is that.. ROM Toolbox flashed the TWRP recovery at /dev/block/mmcblk0p11 and from the thread by prbluebootle. i found that /dev/block/mmcblk0p11 is PARAM partiton...
Code:
Partition name Partition 512-byte blocks Bytes MB (^2)
PARAM -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p11 16384 8388608 8
to be sure.. i dumped the block and compared it with 'openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.1-LT30p'... so now how do i get the PARAM partiton back?.. should i flash stock rom or.. can somebody dump the partition image for me?? what should i do??? heeelp me.. pleeeasee,, T^T

Yea... i still got cwm.. the recovery partition wasnt affected.. and the phone is working fine ... the only problem is during boot instead of showing samsung and model no. It shows red green blue dots on a black background.. then bootanimation starts.. and its pretty much normal..
im still searching what does the PARAM partition contains.. i think..if i only got the partition image...i can just dd it into /dev/block/mmcblk0p11 on a root terminal.. im on linux.. and i gotta use someone else's pc for odin or kies to flash stock..
and it seems that partition contains the samsung name and model no. which shows at very start of boot... if i could change that to something cooler. It'd be awesome.. *^*

ok i am stuck at the samsung boot screen, but nothing works ( i mean i have CWM and ODIN) but when i flash it just gets stuck ( not during flashing but at the samsung screen where it is blue and white, also the blue LED in on at the top)! also it has not booted long enough for adb to work so i cant pull a logcat
also i cant restore a nandroid because every time it tries to restore data it says error restoring /data!
to anyone who is rooted, can you go to /dev/block/by name/ scroll down and tell me what the last one was (sprint) ( i dont remember the name of the folder but there should be two and one of them is about name and the other a about number)

What do you mean you need a pit file??
Didn't you have one to begin with?
What exactly did you Odin then?
What carrier are you with?
On my S2 when I brought it back to stock after using Odin it got stuck on the Samsung logo.
I had to go to stock recovery and do a factory reset and that helped.
It booted after that.
Try it.

You are wrong. If he doesn't tick repartition and doesn't use pit file. His mobile will not be correctly partitioned according to partition table.
Help me too
Help me out.. My friend's ace with this same model too is suffering from the same problem. I was the one who tried to wake it up after the hard brick. I repartitioned and flashed the stock firmware through odin, flash was successful. But the error mounting data appears and the device stucks on bootloop. Also i saw something like unable to move data_recovery_log.
I usually come across mount data errors after flashing stock firmwares in my Galaxy Y duos (s6102) but for us it is known that it would be resolved with a stock data wipe.But that too failed in this case. I am not familiar to the repartitioning things..

U cant restore through cwm 5 bcoz it has restore bug and dont wipe data on cwm 5 it will surely cause bootloop. Just install cwm recovery 6.0.3.6 after than just flash it in recovery. And after that u can use cm10.1. But i think u shuld not give it a try bcoz when i tried it i found many bugs like no mobile network , no sound. And many bugs have mentioned there in thread.

Today I did a build.prop tweak. I changed the dalvik vm heapsize to 48m.When I rebooted it didnt boot up. just stuck up on the samsung logo. I went to CWM recovery (version 5). Wipe data(Factory Reset). Then tried to restore my backup. It stopped in the "Restoring Data" and showed a error. And it didnt recover Data. I rebooted it didnt. I got a bootloop. I tried recovering again. It showed the same error.!
It is still stuck in the bootloop!
Please help me in how to install CWM 6.
Please reply ASAP!
Hey dude,
First of all cool your mind.
Then boot into odin mode by pressing volume down + home + power.
After that press volume up.
After than just flash stock firmware by odin. U will be out of loop. If u want to install cwm 6.0.3.6 than just flash cwm 6.0.3.6 by same method as of flashing stock firmware

Okay. here is what I did with my device fully:
• Changed dalvik vm heap size to 48M.
•After Rebooting the device just stuck to the Samsung image screen ( not a bootloop now ) . Tried many times but still was the same.
• So I thought I will recover and went to CWM. First Wiped data. Then selected Recover. But during recovering Data partition it encountered a error and couldn't restore data.
• After that there was the bootloop.
• Then as you said I went to the guide, downloaded the stock firmware (INS only my phone also) and Odin.
• Selected the PDA and chose the firmware. Clicked start.
•It was there in the "SetupConnection" for a few minutes and then it failed showing "All Threads Completed. 0 Success 1 Failed".
• It was still in Download mode.
•When I removed the USB. The Firmware upgrade error screen came.
I wasn't able to reboot nor go to recovery. It is going only to the download mode!
Please help me dude.!
It is my mother's phone and she wants it back.!
Please help!

Hey dude,
Cool your mind.
Just tell which recovery was installed in your mobile. Cwm 5/ cwm6.
If u hv cwm 6 installed then just follow this guide u will be out of bootloop :
Got Bootloop & not able to boot in recovery through key combination as well as through adb command "adb reboot recovery" or flashing other stock firmwares through odin...
Follow Below process for booting in stock recovery...
From @Chirtagh 's deodexd custom rom u have to flash only first file (PARTOFCUSTOMROM-firmware) through ODIN..... thereafter flashing it ll show you android logo updating firmware...Click volume up key 2-3 times and it ll boot in recovery......
Once u get recovery menu clear data n reboot...done enjoy
Download file from below link & extract it on ur desktop
http://www.mediafire.com/download/6o45uk1ouyu76d5/Flash+this+first!!!!!!!!.zip
After than just wipe data.
If u have cwm5 installed. Than first flash cwm 6 via odin in your mobile. After than folllw the above procedure.
If u dont know what you are doing than u should not do that

how did you try to flash recovery.tar.md5?? if you are using odin via pc.. at first download..and copy fixrecovery.zip to extsdcard.. then boot into recovery.. just after it shows name and model no.. pull your battery out.. wait for at least 10 seconds.. and put battery back..
and boot into odin mode by pressing vol down+home+power button... make sure you have samsung drivers installed on your pc then and plug in your usb..
if everything was done correctly.. you will see one of the COM # and it will be lighting.. and select PDA then browse into the tar.md5 recovery you downloaded.. and select it..wait for sometime and click start to flash it..
the phone will auto reboot.. and you will be in cwm recovery... now install the fixrecovery.zip and you will be good to go.. next time you boot into recovery... you will be in cwm
you can find fixrecovery.zip and tar.md5 recovery in the forums.. google for samsung usb drivers.. you can also use a different process to flash cwm via pc with odin if you dont like pulling out your battery.. which you can find in the forum i guess... well.. this method worked for me... so i posted thisi
and i downloaded rom manager.. but it says our device isnt supported.. and it doesnt allow to select tar.md5 or .img to flash. So i dont think.. we can use it to flash...but i maybe wrong...
if you dont have access to pc.. well..since you are already rooted... i think you can dump the image onto the recovery block of the device with dd command on the terminal... but since i havent tried it i wont be posting commands ... anyways i hope you can fix your issuse fast.. here are more experienced people than me.. and they will surely help you...

from what he posted.. it seems he is already rooted. and he tried to flash cwm via Rom manager... but cwm doesnt support our device... yet he chose one of the options shown in Rom manager. that explains phone stuck when going to recovery.. :/
now he could flash cwm via odin with pc.. or on a root terminal type some commands...

edit the build.prop to fix the white screen change the phone name and company name .. change the name to another galaxy series phone and put "samsung" and volla the kernel is patched
edit these two same as below
ro.product.model=GT-I9500
ro.product.brand=samsung
WARING THIS DOSENT WORKS IN LATEST FRIMWARE LIKE F1 AND J1 if dont work then we have to repack a stock recovery with cwm it can be done with redhat or centos with virtualbox or vmware i can provide the binaries for that and instructions if u want and we have to repack it with exact block size otherwise it wont flash with odin
android can be rooted like that too .. unpack the system.img put the binaries in the exact folders repack it make a tar then make a md5 then flash it ur device will be rooted without cwm and if u wanna go back to stock recovery .. extract the recovery.img file from frimware package with 7 zip make a tar make a md5 flash it using odin u will have ur stock recovery back. for the binaries and commands just message me :good:

HODDON HODDON MAKE THE SAMSUNG CAPITAL S "Samsung" in build.prop if not
can you check the kernel date ? i said it newer kernel dont accept this tweak then only thing you can do is unpack and repack the stock recovery with cwm just the bootloader inside recovery.img stays the same . its a tricky work i can provide you the binaries for linux or have you tried to unlock the oem ? using fastboot ? i dont know if it works on this device bro but you can try i can give you the abt link too if you want
ohh i just found out your kernel date its build on may 2014 they patched that fix
or if you dont have much knowledge working with linux binaries then another thing you can do is VVVV
1)download a stock frimware for gt-s7262 from back in nov 2013 or dec
2) flash the whole thing with odin
3) the kernel stays the same may 2014 cause samsung dont accept downgrade of kernel cool ! we can fix that extract the boot.img with 7zip from the md5 file and tar it make md5 and flash it again and select it as bootloader BL NOT IN AP odin 3.9
4) flash the cwm again and it wont give white screen error but your warranty will be void bro !

For those who haven't got root for their s7262
www27.zippyshare.com/v/42032118/file.html
try to root using the files in the above provided link.
Trust me. No more white screen. No need to download any necessary firmwares!
have fun!!
one more thing, do not add the recovery.tar.rar file (img file) as PDA. Use the recovery.tar.md5 or the recovery.tarsuccessfullyrooted.rar
