what ROM and Kernel are you using? checked OC settings? any additional apps running in the background without your knowledge? any recent apps you have installed?

Thanks for replying quick.
I'm using Stock ICS 4.0.4
I'm not sure what you mean by Kernel as I'm new to androids, was an iOS user ..
How to check if apps are running without my knowledge?
Yes there are many apps I recenly got!
Get better battery stats from the play store, and let it run for a charge cycle.
Also turn off all the silly Samsung stuff like face awake etc etc
Does a reboot help?

a sign that some hungry app is churning away in the background, that's why I suggested bbs to help find the cause.
This kind of thing is nearly always a rogue process, just a matter of getting to know your new os and learning its ins and outs

This is "proccesses"
you need to leave the phone and let it log for a couple of hours , then see what is working away in the background

Ok I'll leave till it charges to 100%
Thanks.
It's probably best to root and change the kernel, as my phone used to get too hot as well

Battery was 88%
Woke up too be shocked! Battery is 26%
What the hell!
This is a serious problem...
BBS says that gpsd is using a lot as a process, so I disabled that before I sleep.
OK so now I wiped data and cache and installed CM9 stable release.
I want to know what you mean by kernel and how to install custom kernel
Thanks again.

Hi.
I had the same problem with one SGS3 from two I bought.
The one worked fine, but the second restart twice and more a day. I changed it in the shop. But the problem was still there. The akku was hot and after 2 hours without any input the akku was 0%.
I changed the phone the second time in the shop.
But also this device had the problems, sometimes the phone doesn't see the akku.
Then I had the idea, I looked into the device pressed the akku with my thumbnail and the akku worked.
With a little paper I fix the akku and everything is fine until today.

Put a piece of paper somewhere in the battery slot to prevent phone from random rebooting?
Is this a good solution? I'd suggest to claim your warranty.

Try to reset your battery stat if you are using clockworkmod recovery

The easiest way is to flash a custom kernel that supports that feature. Siyah, Dream and Dorimanx kernels all support the feature via Extweaks
maybe you could post some details about what rom/kernel you are using and then it would be easier for people to help you... trey something like my signature
regarding your problem... try to use your phone like you usually do from a fulll battery until 10-15% then recharge it without any restarts

haha sorry. just copt i have cwm. do i need to wait till the battery is fully charged b4 i wipe the data??
I recommend to charge it to 100% then remove the battery for 1 minute (this resets your fuel gauge apparently) then charge it again to 100% so I guess you need to charge it. Afterwards, discharge it normally and try not to reboot at least for one cycle

flash another rom, or the same rom again. use gs2romnuke before flashing and flash fresh rom without wipes

Try to flash with odin a stock rom. Does the usb port work? I'm sure that it's a soft problem

No one can just know what's wrong with your device. Post all battery screenshots as well as BBS screens (including wakelocks). Then, people could tell you the root of your problem.

Did you wipe data while flashing my ROM? It might be that you had installed something that took lots of battery, and the data wipe fixed it.
Try to flash xPirt ROM again.

i wipe each time i install diffident rom,
It's probably the mediaserver issue... Happened to me a couple of times... Leave your phone on charger while running for a few hours...
Flowed from my HTC branded muffin...
I suggest you to proceed on this way
1. install on your phone an app like batery calibration
2.plug the phone on AC power until the full charge
3.click on button (on the app ) calibrate
4. unplug the phone
this app remove from system the batery statement files and create a new one with the correct autonomy of batery.
i recommend to use this app after eatch new rom installation or if you had plug the phone to Ac power with a batery higher than 14%
Churchull ragnjus
i think it works better just the % go down more smoothly ...
3 days past with myONEdx 4
and still battery dies very fast each time.

That seems like a faulty battery, And mine worked greated but after several roms it became worse. And now just on JB it looks great again.

Well i have sometimes this problem. I'm charging and for example it gets stuck on 75 percent for an hour and nothing. Always help unplug and plug again. But if no then it could be faulty battery

Most likely battery overheat issue.
When the battery doesn't charge, you get to see the LED blinking, which is sort of a warning to the user.

Hello. I have this problem. My phone does not charge more than 89%. It just stops there. When I tried to recalibrate the battery (full discharge, full recharge when turned off) it charged 100%. Later the problem returned. Bought a new charger. Still does not work. Rom - Cyanogenmod 10.1 temasek's kangs, whatever's the latest. Kernel - temasek too.

One try a battery calibration from the market or wipe the battery stats via recovery .
Then charge and use the phone to recalibrate .
No fix then i would blame firmware/ kernel first then the battery .

Fixed it. The bug was in the temasek's kernel default profile. The maximun charging voltage was set to 4.2v, while it is 4.35.
