PhoNetInfo 1.8.0.0 (UPDATE: March 18, 2014) - Windows Phone 8 Apps and Games

Hello everybody,
A very good app PhoNetInfo 1.8.0.0 is available for all those who'd like to retrieve technical information about your Windows Phone.
PhoNetInfo retrieves detailed technical phone and network information such as firmware version, device name, battery status, power saving status, network operator, roaming status, wifi/wap interface names, camera details (e.g. ISO, white balance), number of CPUs, CPU architecture, CPU features, CPU page size, high performance timer frequency, time since last device reboot, RAM, etc. All information can be exported by email and the application's language can be changed all the time.
You can download it on the Windows Phone Store by searching for PhoNetInfo.
Unfortunately, I cannot post the link here, as the forum prevents me from posting outside links...
Best,
Patrick

Dude, I gotta flag you.. Your app, cool as it may be has no trial version. Its all in the rules: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
Sorry bro.

Since there's no free version, I'm going to have to close this thread.
You can check this article for more detailed info, but in short:
If you're going to post it on XDA, then you must provide a free version;
The free version must *not* be a time limited trial or crippleware;
If you're an established member, though, you can post paid apps in the appropriate paid software section.
Again, please refer to the linked article and the rules for a really detailed guide. If you have further questions, feel free to PM me or any moderator.
Thanks.

[Q] Searching for a proper bike companion app

Hey all,
I am planning to do a lot of mountainbiking after this winter. Therefore, I want to have some sort of companion app which can run on my Galaxy S II while it's in a mount on my handlebar.
The last few days I've been searching for such app which meets these requirements:
Overview with map and speed/distance related information
Current speed, avg. speed, trip distance, total distance...
So, essentially, I want a single-screen, hands free, reference app, which displays my current position on a Google Map / Satellite overview (preferably the latter) and an overlay or a dedicated part of the screen with information mentioned in the second point here above...
For your reference I created a quick mash-up to make it more clear what I am looking for:
http:/ / dl.dropbox.com/ u/ 7263747/ MTBmashup.jpg
Sorry for the spaces but as a new user I am not able to post images or links yet...
If anyone is aware of something similar, please let me know!
Thanks!

Like the idea so far!!! i had something like this on Windows Mobile....I used to use it to text and view my phone without having to pick it up.
Question: Do you have to have the full version in order to text? That's what I wanted to try before I make a purchase.
Can you add "Background task" so i can have this on while doing other tasks on my phone?
Thanks.

Just left a few suggestions (under nick "SeNS") on your voting site.
BTW, nice work (bought a paid version)! I especially like a web page design
P.S. I do have a question to you: could you help with web-page design for the open source project(s)? And did you offer some commercial services for the custom web page design (I need a simple "Metro-style" informational home page)?

Dear barrychon,
Thank you for your useful feedback.
Actually the trial version is a quite similar to the full version with limitation with number of photos and contacts, please try the trial before purchasing.
Regarding the text from PC, yes you can send text messages, emails, make phone calls from PC using GoToMyPhone, however, you have to confirm the action from your phone, this is a security concern from Microsoft API.
Regarding the background task, even if the application works in background you can't reach it via socket, the background apps run every amount of time, API does not allow Background apps as service.
Please vote for existing ideas or create your own idea on: http://gotomyphone.uservoice.com/forums/227942-general

Dear SeNS,
I really appreciate your voice on my feedback page, I will try my best to review and include some features if feasible with current API.
Concerning your requests, I may be able to help with open source projects, please check my page on codeplex: http://www.codeplex.com/site/users/view/fakoua
Review my current projects and invite me to your projects or just mail me [email protected].
Concerning commercial services, I really appreciate your offer, but I'm busy with too many projects including GoToMyPhone and MetroAirServer (light IIS over WP8), I can't provide commercial services.
For your metro-style page, you may check the open source section in GoToMyPhone about page, and please refer to: http://aozora.github.io/bootmetro/ a modified theme for Bootstrap (twitter bootstrap) it may help with your design.
Please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Thanks for the quick reply; I'm really appreciate your attention!
Please, check my codeplex profile: https://www.codeplex.com/site/users/view/SeNS
Probably, I'll ask you soon about design of the simple configuration web-page for my new, upcoming project "X10 home server" (not released yet). There is nothing special; just a few controls and input boxes but I really want it elegant and stylish as your configuration pages for the "GoToMyPhone" app

Please read the XDA forum rules regarding posting apps, and make sure you're in compliance with them. The key component is that you're not allowed to use this board as advertising for a paid app, although you're welcome to provide a way to get it for free here and then link to a paid version (not a paid *upgrade*; that's not the same thing) as a sort of "feel free to donate by buying the app from the store" kind of thing.
I haven't tried the app yet, so I don't know how severe the trial restrictions are (something you should be specific about, by the way) but I'm tired of seeing links to paid third-party apps in the forum. Time was, this board was for finding beta testers and publishing links that anybody could use (often to the XAP files themselves; this is a developer community and most of us probably have dev-unlocked phones).
Sorry

Dear GoodDayToDie
I'm so sorry if I didn't follow the forum rules, I know it is not an excuse, but I found a lots of free trial apps with commercial edition, and that's why I created this thread, and as I said, It is not an excuse.
Please feel free to take any action regarding this post if you think it is not following the rules.
Thanks
Eh, I'm not a moderator or anything, I just want to make sure they don't have to get involved. Some of the apps, where the trial is "get the app for free, and if you want to donate/thank us, buy it!", are not a problem at all; it's mostly a matter of making sure people can get the app for free if you want to post it here. There's nothing wrong with asking for donations or anything, it's just not OK to advertise commercial stuff unless it's related to the site.

[Q] Looking for Android app developer for some advice

Hello,
My first post in this forum so couldn't post it to the right category (10 post rule), sorry..
But it still would probably be one of the best places to find answers to my questions and maybe even find the right guy to do the job.
I'm interested in getting contact with someone who really knows about making apps for business purposes. Actually I'd need an application for all the most used phones operating systems but let's start with an Android and find out what is possible to do and what is not.
Not going to explain here what to I exaxtly need but the main keywords would be Easy user interface, QR code (barcode too maybe?), payment options (or connecting it with some other app to enable the payments, bank transfers, credits cards, paypal etc.).
It's not going to be a standalone app (like flashlight for exmpl.), it needs to be a part of the system so it needs to communicate with server, send info recive info etc.
Feel free to send PM and I'll tell you more specific about what I need.
Best regards,

Newbie app development help.

Hello guys, this is my first post here in the forum and i'm looking for a very specific answer, hope you can help me.
So I had this idea for an app that could really optimize the way people work here @ my workplace, but the thing is: i know nothing about programming and development
The question is: how hard would it be/how long would it take for a complete newbie to develop this app? (description below).
It consists basically in a scheduler & task assignment app. It must be able to:
Register two kinds off app users: workers/schedulers (WS) and schedulers only (SO).
Create WS subgroups (something like tags or flags so tasks can be assigned to a specific subgroup of WS').
Allow WS to create their own daily schedule and share it with all schedulers.
Allow SO to have access to all WS' schedules and fill them remotely.
Allow SO to auto-assign tasks to the nearest availabe WS of an specific subgroup.
Allow both WS and SO to see wich tasks were assigned by each one.
This is the main idea, of course there are some minor changes and details that I need to add, but this is enough to get the main idea.
Waiting for an answer, thank you in advance.

YouTube deleted Linux Deploy video ALMOST INSTANTLY!

This one's got me incensed! Answered a question on quora, can Linux be installed on a galaxy tab 2? Everyone said no. I said yes, as debian is installed via Linux deploy on my Wileyfox Swift 2, and supplied screenshots. 62 views, no upvotes, started to think I'm not believed...
So I record my screen, into about phone first, to show the android version, etc.. Then to Linux deploy, start services, then vnc viewer to start the desktop environment. Obviously opened a couple of apps, that was it.
Uploaded it to YouTube so as to post an edit on quora with a link. Processing for at least 30 minutes at 95% done then the following email
Hi paul pinckston,
As you may know, our Community Guidelines describe which content we allow – and don’t allow – on YouTube. Your video "Linux Deploy on Wileyfox Swift 2" was flagged for review. Upon review, we’ve determined that it violates our guidelines. We’ve removed it from YouTube and assigned a Community Guidelines strike, or temporary penalty, to your account.
Video content restrictions
It's not okay to post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted, or repetitive content to YouTube. If the main purpose of your content is to drive people off of YouTube and onto another site, it will likely violate our spam policies. In addition, misleading descriptions, tags, titles, or thumbnails designed to increase views are not allowed. Tags should only be placed in the appropriate tag section and not in the description. Learn more.
The impact of strikes
This is the first strike applied to your account. We understand that users seldom intend to violate our policies. That’s why strikes don’t last forever – this strike will expire in three months. However, it’s important to remember that additional strikes could prevent you from posting content to YouTube or even lead to your account being terminated.
How you can respond
If you believe this was a mistake, we’d like to hear from you. Please follow both of these steps as simply deleting the video won’t resolve the strike on your account.
The next time you sign in you will be asked to acknowledge this strike on your account.
If you would like to appeal this strike, please submit this form. Our team will thoroughly review your appeal and will contact you again very soon.

It appears that they don't believe me either! "misleading descriptions, tags" etc. is the only thing I can see that could possibly apply.
Any advice, as to what this may be all about, would be gratefully received.

But Paul , if I can call you by your name , this forum is about technical problem and support. This problem isn't about a bug or technical problem , but about the famous YouTube hypocrisy ( with thumbnail ) and another forum : Quora.
One advice :
If someone doesn't trust you or your advice , it's his problem . If I understand , you given the advice , if they don't trust it that's losed for them , you don't lose anything. I know this can be frustrating but that's life, too bad for them.
Now you're on XDA , not on Quora or YouTube , next time post questions about technical problems.
No problem, my sincere apologies. Should have put it in off-topic, please move the thread if required.
