I have appradio unchained , gs4 and a pioneer appradio3. I am not completely helpless on a computer but I am far from your levels, so please be patient. I have been at this for about a month, lol and I have it all working except I cannot get the Bluetooth media connection to stay connected. it actually connects and works via Bluetooth but as soon as I hook up my mhl cable it disconnects the media connection through Bluetooth.
I bring this up because even though I have a mirrored image on the hu I cannot use the touch screen and I read somewhere I need the Bluetooth media connection to use the touch screen.
Any idea on how I could get this to work would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance
Any chance im missing some basic settings?

Just thought id add that maybe ive missed some basic setting in my gs4 that allows or disallows having a mhl cable and Bluetooth functioning at the same time? I just cant find any reason why it shuts down only the media side of my Bluetooth when I hook up the mhl cable?
Please let there be help for this!
any idea were else i could post?
Dos anyone here have any idea of another forum I could use to try find some help? I am running out of ideas.

Yes I did. appradio works fine. I just cant get appradio unchained to work. Maybe this is crazy but I am thinking I may need to completely reset the phone or install a new rom in order to get this to work.
Ill check out this other thread.
Thank you for responding!

Ok well I have read already and that's were I downloaded appradio unchained. I went over the survey and didn't find anyone with the s4 running4.4.2 that had it working.
Dos anyone think installing a custom rom would fix the issue and if so which one would you recommend?
Anybody think the s5 might help?

This is the best Universal Remote software. I installed this on my Titan, and was able to control two of my TVs, a Projector, and a CELING FAN, lol....it can do everything, this truly is "universal"
(see attached cab file)
i'll test this tonight to see if it works

I just installed it. I don't see an option for what you mentioned about pointing your remote at it to capture the IR (code).
Though I did go downstairs at work and point the thing at the Panasonic TV and go through the 30 codes trying hopelessly to get it to work.
Do you need to turn on / enable IR, or is it just naturally enabled each time you hit a "Power" or "Channel Change" Button?
Otherwise pretty cool...though it'd be nice to switch the screen around with the IR receiver being on the bottom instead of the top.
This one actually works with the Titan's IR hardware? If so, I've been waiting so long for something like this! None of the other universal IR programs have worked. Trying now!
Let us know how it works - I am hoping it will replace my Directv remote!!
Well, I just tried it on a Sony TV with all 24 associated IR codes for Sony, and no dice. I had beam enabled, but I am not totally sure that IR even works on the ROM I'm using (PPCKitchen build based on 19588). Can anyone else confirm that this works, and if so what ROM are you using?

I just tried it, with little hope of it actually working, on DCD3.2.0 ROM and couldn't get my Sony TV to work with any of the 24 codes. I too thought it might be the ROM, so I reflashed with the latest official "leaked" ROM and couldn't get it to work with that one either.
This is the first time I've seen this program actually work on a PPC since I owned my ipaq 5450.
This software is supposedly only available when it is distrubuted preinstalled by the OEM, and the only WM devices I've ever seen with it were HP/Compaq models.
This was the one program I truly missed when I left HP PDA's behind.
I hope someone figures out how to get it to work. I'm mildly surprised the program even runs on our titans.

Just to be sure...you had beam enabled right? From his sig, it looks like Crobs is running DCD 3.2.0 as well. I was really hoping this would work. The Titan's placement of the IR port on the bottom (vs the side) would have made it an ideal platform for this kind of program.

Ditto... Is there a setting that I'm forgetting about? The only thing that I could find on the stock ROM or on DCD 3.2.0 was in settings > Connections > Beam - with a checkbox for "Receive all incoming beams".

Ya, that's it. Doesn't seem to be working for anyone. Care to elaborate Crobs?
Weird guys...I was actually able to get this to work with my Hitachi tv and RCA television. One is a huge big screen and one is a small one with a DVD player built in. That's all I know to tell you since I am not a devloper or coder myself, so I dont knwo why mine is or is not working...I do not have any other special software installed other than TomTom 7.450
FYI - I am running DCD ROM 3.2.0 with Radio 3.42.30
have you tried with any other electronics and seen if they worked. I cant get it to work either and i dont think my beam is sending anything out.
Fix IR
Check this reg key and see if it is as below:
Changed the following in the Registry:
[Mobile Device\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms]
Disablepowermanagement=1
IntIR=1
Port=1
does the nevo software work for you serfboreds? I changed the disable....to 1, but it still doesnt turn on the tv or dvd.
i know that the beam is working since i was able to send a file through it to my Palm

No, haven't had the time to try. Just trying to help get beam going for you. Seems dunebuggydude got beam working but no software. May not be compatible with titan.
Guys, I haven't tried it yet, but for all those unsuccesful attempts: how close to TV were you? I believe Titan has pretty weak IR and you need to be like right next to TV for this to work.
Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I am completely new to S2/android and can't find an answer anywhere.
Is there any reason why placing the phone onto the craddle (which is connected to my PC via USB) comes up and ask me to disconnect Bluetooth? Why is it not possible to use both USB or bluetooth at the same time?
All my previous phones could do that but they were all HTC and all Windows Mobile phones. So I am not sure whether it is an issue with Samsung or Android or I just haven't configured it correctly.
I normally have the phone in the craddle while working (so it charges and can transfer files to and from) and use the bluetooth handset to answer or make calls. It is pretty annoying to not be able to do that anymore.
Thanks.
From what I can tell it's a thing with the Samsung bloatware they put on the phone, as I just tested it with my phone and I can have bluetooth, wifi and usb all connected at the same time. Perhaps try flashing a new Rom?
Actually I have just found out that if I go ahead and disconnect bluetooth and get the connection through USB running, I can then re-enable Bluetooth and they both keep working.
THis is a completely stock S2, so it would be nice if it was possible to change this irritating behaviour.

You've already been given your answer, flash a custom ROM that's deleted and the bloatware, and please don't become one of those newbies that doesn't read the responses in the very thread they started
Yes I have read "TehH4rRy"'s answer. My apology for not thanking him for that.
I was hoping for a solution that does not involve flashing and rooting since i have much better things to do with my time, and I was hoping this was just about me not knowing some perhaps hidden options to turn this behaviour off.
As far as I know this is the generic "Q&A" section, so you can't assume that everybody that posts a question here is looking to flash their S2 to death.
I posted my finding so that if somebody else had the same problem and is not willing to flash their phone, they would know that there is a work-around, and perhaps some other kindly helping users have even better work-arounds.
Your answer on the other hand I am not sure what it adds to the thread... but thanks anyway.

Hi,
in our warehouse I use the Galaxy Wifi 4.0 with a Motorola RS507 bluetoothscanner for orderpicking.
I have 10 of them all working without any problem. Now I needed 10 more, but the 4.0 is replaced by the 4.2. So I bought them instead.
But I cannot get the scanners working with this device.
If I want to connect the scanner I get the message:
Confirm passkey is xxxxxx to pair with RS507 1234
I can press "Accept" or "Decline"
When I press "Accept", it says "paired" but I cannot use the device. Also the device give no confirmation sound that it is connected.
On all the other devices (Wifi 4.0, Galaxy S, Lenovo A1 Tablet) I get the message:
Confirm password to pair with "RS507 1234"
Then I only have to press Accept and the device is paired and working.
Does anyone have a similar problem with another bluetooth device and knows a solution how I can connect the scanner?
If it will not work I have to look around for the old Galaxy Wifi 4.0.
Thanks for your help.

Try enabling CONFIG_BT_HID in your kernel. I say this since the scanner's datasheet has blutooth HID listed, the 4.2 kernel doesn't have it enabled, and my 4.0 *does* have it enabled. In the 4.0 it's configured as a module, but you could try getting away with linking it directly in your kernel just in case the 4.2's init scripts/ueventd doesn't load it.
If you need help doing this let me know in a PM.

Can I ask?

Hi,
I've tried connecting Android to various other BT scanners before (using the SPP) and have not had problems. But I'm struggling on the RS unit.
What I normally do is on other scanners is turn pairing on for the scanner, connect and pair to the unit from the phone. Then start my application on the phone, which initiates the connection to the scanner and connects. Then I can read from the scanner and all works well.
On the RS this seems different, as you don't seem to put the RS in pair mode and connect to it. instead the process seems to be to scan a barcode on/for the device (with MAC id?) and the RS connects?
Either way, I have not managed to get this to work.
Can someone provide me with the correct process to connect the RS to an android device in SPP mode?
Any help or working code example would be much appreciated!
My wife has a 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML63 that comes with the COMAND system. She just moved from her trusty iPhone 5 to a GS5. Previously had no issues automatically connecting her iPhone to her car's OEM hands-free system. With the GS5, it won't automatically connect at all. As well, when she manually connects, it takes a few times before it will actually make a connection. Once connected though, it seems to work OK.
Has anyone else had similar issues? I searched around the net, and found articles with other brands of OEM bluetooth units, but there aren't a lot of answers.
At this point, the fact that her phone has such difficulty connecting to her car, she's tossing around the idea of reverting to her iPhone. I'd really like to get this solved, and keep her on Android if at all possible. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Here is the manual for the device: http://www.wireless4mb.com/user_manuals/Bluetooth_Cradle_USA_SLR_Web.pdf

Weird. It works fine with my car (not command). For the most part, all the oem units work best with iPhones though.
In the car's settings, has she deleted her iPhone and made sure that the "connect automatically" option is checked for the S5? I don't know how MB does it, but there should be an option like that for each phone.

Thanks for the response. The system in these earlier models isn't that sophisticated. It works a lot like how a Bluetooth portable speaker works - it remembers the last 8 devices that connected to it, but you can't manage that list. I'll have to see if there is a way to force it to forget all of the devices - I didn't see anything in the documentation.
Thanks for the idea.

From a random website.
you reset the system by pressing the "SYS" button to the left of the screen. It results in the first photo below. Then, select "Diagnosis" - that will take you to the second photo, which has a "System Reset" selection.

zhingket, have you gotten anywhere with this? I saw instructions on a TMO site that don't make any sense as it talks about WiFi, but might be worth a shot...
MirrorLink
To share screen and sound from phone with car, follow these steps.
Turn on and connect to Wi-Fi.
From any home screen, tap Apps.
Tap Settings > Networks tab.
Tap Share & connect > Media server.
Select the Content sharing check box.
Tap YES.
I'm looking into a new deck and would love to utilize MirrorLink. Does anyone have actual experience with making it work? (Not just reading about it).

No luck, the instructions from T-mobile manual is like miracast not the actual mirrorlink, I've seen that manual before. I wish I could install android auto on my CRV's head unit, like what I did on the car play (beta tester). Right now my work around is I bought an iphone 5s (Virgin mobile/Boost deal) activate on Ring Plus, and use car play, maybe down the road go back to Samsung which supports mirrorlink.
I'm having a similar issue on the Verizon V10 using my aftermarket Pioneer. The phone knows it's plugged into something, it asks if it should use mtp or ptp but the headunit never sees it. I wonder if it has to do with the Verizon installer that comes up when plugged into a computer. Does anyone know how to remove that function from the phone?
