[Q] Need Help - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Does any expert from the forum know how to downgrade firmware GT-I9200 from XSE-XXUCNA5 into XSE-XXUBMJ4???
I have tried but say Secure Fail : Kernel then I reflash XXUCNA5 and it work again.
My Problemin XXUCNA5, when I flash CWM 6.0.3.2 into I9200 XSE-XXUCNA5 my system app like MAPS and YOUTUBE couldn't be started, when boot the device it always pop-up Unfortunately Maps has stopped then Youtube and it's annoying and real slow the boot process, and forever I couldn't use Maps and Youtube apps. Regret so much to upgrade into XXUCNA5, for me this upgrade was a real disaster upgrade when KNOX sh*t was included on this version. Please any expert, I need to revert back to XXUBMJ4.

Ok. i am researching with it now. When i get someone then i will post here..

After researching i have found this solution..
Upgrading to new firmware with new bootloader and KNOX it is one way road... new bootloader prevent from downgrading and if you try you can brick your phone. Resetting KNOX and even deleting it from unit do not solve problemwhich lays in new bootloader. Additionally every attempt to root and custom recovery irreversibly set flashing counter by means of burning efuse - from now on your warranty is void for ever. I think it will help you.

-Yes the guide will work
-There is only one custom ROM at the moment and it's basically a stock one that is prepared for future mods
-ROMs are custom operating systems that give your phone added functionality/speed/a new look
-Yes, they're easy to flash with Odin
-Rooting invalidates your warranty
-Re-flash a stock firmware and use a USB-jib (£4ish) to reset the custom binary counter and no-one will ever know you rooted
hope that helps

I thought people might want a decent non-developer speak guide to rooting the S2 so I made some videos

[Q] My GS2 messed up forever (phone part at least).

OK, i managed to corrupt the efs folder. Now i have no efs backup, no IMEI and no baseband. I know, my bad, i should have made a backup, flame me if you want.
Basically i can't even return the phone for repair because they won't accept a phone with no IMEI. Good eh? Any suggestions? What should i do? Should i just give up and stick with this overpriced media player?
I'm very, very sad right now.
Jst give a try....
Take back to Sammy and tell them things got messed up while updating through kies....
And a few week before I saw a thread explaining how to generate fake imei.. Look on it....

Yeah that's what i thought. Also i'm not really confident about changing the imei, i don't wanna void my warranty if i can, so i guess i'll send it in for repair, tho generally samsung has always been slow with this kind of things...we'll see.

If you already flashed a custom ROM via Odin, you have also no warranty, because the custom binary counter is not 0. You have to get a JIG to reset the counter, before they will believe something happened with KIES....

[Q] New to Android - Need Advice (Rooting and Firmware)

Hi, I will be getting this phone today (i9100 unlocked) and have a couple of questions on how to proceed onwards. Any help would be greatly appreciated
1. What is the best firmware and rooted kernel for me to go on?
I want the absolute simpilest way to root my phone (total beginner) and I don't know what firmware I will have when I receive it, I also don't know if I should stay on a gingerbread firmware or go to ics? I also don't care if it is official or custom as long as I'm not sacraficing stability. If possible I would like a rom that is good for battery life. I also want to root my phone in the safest way. There are so many tutorials I didn't know where to start
2. What are some of the essential rooted apps and how do you install them? Through superuser or market?
3. What are the risks involved with a standard flashing/root because I'm getting my phone second hand I don't have warranty.
Thanks for all your help!
Edit: I just say a sticky saying not to ask what roms are the best so I'm sorry if I broke a rule. I just literally have no idea where to start, I've never even used android before. I've found so many methods of rooting and roms but most seem outdated. I would just like someone to point me in the right direction of the up to date way. Sorry if I'm really not supposed to ask!

Superuser is not used to install apps, you would either download them from the market or manually install the .apks

Rooting your phone would void the warranty anyway and bricking is probably your biggest risk.

Yes. There are dozens, if all you wanted me to do was provide a link to a more comprehensive guide, why don't you just learn how to use Google for yourself?

Most of these guides will contain everything you need to know to get started.

Believe me, I tried, but there are so many options, also, I've now decided to opt for a locked virgin i9100 bcause it was 50 bucks more for a new phone with the warranty, so what's the best way to unlock one? I think I recall a free app.

Lost in virtual world

Hello world.

Sure you can fail.
My recommendation: do your due diligence in research, and make sure whatever you are flashing is meant for your model of phone before doing anything.
#1 reason I've seen for bootloops and bricks is due to people just flashing the first thing they find, which ends up being a firmware meant for a different model of phone.
If you want an easy an almost 100% brick free way to root your phone, download siyah kernel and just flash it through the PDA section of Odin.
That will give you root + permanent CWM
I rooted phone with odin and it's ok but I think there is something wrong with GPS.(Not working)
It start working when I rebooted my phone.
Another thing..Where can I get boot animations ?
I found it (lol) Thanks for everything
Google can be really good friend!

[Q] Help unroot can't root again!

Hey guys, I have a little problem I tried to find the solution in other posts, but I didn't found it, so this is my last hope... I hope you can help me.
So I have an Asus Memo Pad HD7, and I rooted it using framaroot 1.9.3, then one day it appeared a firmware actualization in my notification bar, I updated NY android and then after some days I just wanted to check if the unroot option in the framaroot worked, well my mistake it worked to well, after I clicked I rebooted and them the supersu was gone and I had unrooted tablet again, but when I tried to root again it told me it was rooted and then after reboot it wasn't... I can't root it again
The weird part is that recently I made another firmware actualization and supersu appeared magically in my phone, I tried to start it, but it showed an error saying my phone was unrooted... then I uninstalled supersu and tried to root again, but I can't...
Please help!
P.s: I didn't instal any rooms and I already tried factory reset in settings.
P.s.s: The weirdest part is that people say they unrooted to do a firmware update, while I did it with my rooted tablet. And Avast says my device is running in high privilege mode, but Root Checker says it's not.
Please any help will be appreciated!
Without knowing which firmware you are on now, it's not really possible to tell you how to reroot correctly.

My android is 4.2.2, my kernel version 3.4.5 and my model name is ME173X. I can't find the firmware though, the best I found is this: Camera firmware: 80000 and Build Number: ME173X_WW_user_4.2.4.04152_20140714 release-keys.

Recovery + SuperSU zip or custom rooted stock rom will probably be the way to go.

Sorry, I don't have a lot of experience with android devices so, I hate to say it, I'm kind of noob on that. Can you please help me with a tutorial explaining how to do that?
Thank you very much
Framaroot uses a bug to get Root access and root the Device.Maybe the update has been fixed.Try to downgrade your Software and root again.

I don't have the device, so I can't really help directly, but I mean, there's a picture guide with stuff circled that you need to do. If it's too complicated then it would be wise to invest in having a qualified shop or tech to help.

How is downgrading any easier than the root guide for the current version you're on...?
I think rooting via Fastboot is safer than framaroot.

I provided the link to what you need already. It's on the 2nd post of the thread. It has a step by step with pictures. You need to unlock the bootloader and install the custom recovery so you can install the superuser zip. If you can't follow the picture guide, then you should really enlist the help of someone who does this for a living since this is your only tablet and are very unsure of yourself.

I reread everything and I think I now understand what I need to do. Correct me if I'm wrong: unlock the bootloader, flash the custom recovery and Install supersu.zip. Can you tell me how I install the supersu.zip?
Thanks for everything.
