(sorry to the other thread owner as I didn't realize I was in the i9300 forum when I posted my reply asking for similar help)
*** this is a repost from the post I made on androidcentral, with a suggestion made by dmmarck over there ***
Ok, yes it seems I made a mistake and I'm new to this, so apologies. But I tried going in and changing build.prop (specifically ro.camera.sound.forced=0 to get the camera to go quiet when the phone was set to silent) and when I rewrote the file into the system, I ended up with a phone that won't go past the 'Samsung Galaxy SIII' screen into the Sprint boot. I searched around and found that my SBF might be trashed, but at this point I'm unsure as to how to get it reloaded properly.
I am able to get into the recovery (up volume, home button, power button), and may have made a further mistake by formatting the /system. Unfortunately, I didn't make a backup using that utility until AFTER the build.prop problem, so even though I tried to recover using the recovery I made (after the problem), it is understandably not working.
Am I totally screwed or is there a way to get me back? Any help is greatly appreciated.
// dmmarck and paul627g over on androidcentral think if I can get a good samaritan to help me by posting a nandroid backup of their stock L710 setup, I should be able to recover without issues, would anyone here be able to help me?
Have you tried this?

Yes! Thank you for pointing me there, I found that a little bit ago and tried it a couple of times, unfortunately, the bootloader doesn't seem to be broken, so this didn't help me.
I really wish Samsung had the OEM ROM out!
Just found this!! Someone please tell me this will fix things?? And how do I use the file? (am downloading it now, slow download)

You won't be able to do anything with it if you're not a dev, calm down Roms will be available soon

hey now, I appreciate what it takes to get to a fix, but I am in a bit of a pickle with this being my only phone and I am new to Android, so what may be a fix is still an exciting bit of news.
I appreciate that this is not the same as an OEM ROM now (with help from here and from android central), so I'm learning. I also understand that this is a problem that I caused by not doing my basic backups as I would any other software work, so please don't misunderstand and think that I am not understanding of what the timeline realistically will be to get to a fix.
Can't you edit the prop build on your recovery and flash it back?

quite possibly, but the recovery was made from the messed up/non-working version, so I'm not sure if that works or not... any thoughts?
I have a solution for you. Ask someone who has a GS3 to make a nandroid, copy it to your sd card and flash it. Viola you should have everything back to normal.
*warning*
Some might deny your request because certain personal information being stored in a nandroid such as gmail accounts, contacts, passwords, ect.

Yes! Thanks! This is the route that we're moving forward on in the androidcentral forums. We're thinking a FACTORY RESET/CACHE/DALVIK WIPE usin CWM will help to remove personal info as best as possible for any kind soul who does this.
I'm pretty sure someone will help you. I would have if i had a gs3(waiting for local stores to get them). I hope everything go well for you.
Come to think of it, couldn't you just factory reset your phone and it will be stock again?

thanks! actually, I have no way to factory reset unfortunately...
By going into stock recovery mode you can factory reset it. It's the same steps to get into CWM.
And if all else fail, root your phone using the odin method by getting into download mode, you'll have CWM recovery and you can factory reset using that.

hmm, I think I'm missing something because I don't have the factory recovery now that CWM is installed (or am I incorrect here?). And I'm not sure if I can get back to the factory reset options now in the state that I'm in.
As far as the odin method, I am already rooted, I'm not sure how I can use CWM recovery to factory reset at that point..
Apologies again as I am new to android and trying to learn! I appreciate you're help!
Yes, you don't have stock recovery because you're rooted. And if you're able to get into CWM you should be able to get your phone back to normal.
In CWM there's a option to wipe data(factory reset), but wiping data to cure your problem is experimental meaning idk what might happen when/if you do.

Ok, just tried that (wipe data/factory reset), same behavior unfortunately...
How about unrooting ?
Using this method
http://www.epiccm.org/2012/06/team-epics-un-root-from-recovery.html?m=1
then going to stock recovery.
Before doing any of this first try using the nandroid somebody might provide for you.

I would think so.
This is the information for my phone.

I bought a phone from gumtree and it was rooted. I prefer it not to be rooted so i deleted the root and noticed the phone had a recovery system. So it went to that when i rebooted the phone. I then accidently wiped the data of the phone and everything. All i have access to is the recovery system and the bootloader. So basically my phone has no OS installed. Also in the bootloader i can see that it says *TAMPERED*, because the guy rooted it, and *UNLOCKED*, meaning the bootloader is unlocked anything is possible. However my S-On, security is on. I learnt how to switch from UNLOCKED TO RELOCKED.
Now, I downloaded the source codes for the phone from HTCDEV, I got the HTC ONE, T-Mobile, DE Version, 1.29.111.16 which is the one for me. I am stuck and i dont know what to do next. I was wondering if anyone could help me but firstly, i would like to know if i can go into a T-Mobile shop and they could help me.
If you reply check google or youtube, try what they did. Trust me unless their phone is bricked, they are in a better situation than me. The videos and tutorial show people with an rooted OS changing to a stock OS (original out of the box OS). The point is i have No OS installed so thats really annoying.
Thank You
You can try flashing ruu zip thru bootloader look at HTC one thread for more info out try the all in one pack

Hi all,
I changed my HTC One to international following a guide on this forum. Now I'm stock and my device received the 4.2.2 OTA.
I want to keep my phone stock to receive updates, but I need to restore my titanium backup. So I'll need root and I know how to do that: install a recovery then supersu.
The thing is after the restore I want to revert root and remove the custom recovery. I read that I'll need to replace twrp with a stock recovery buy since my device is on 4.2.2 I don't know what file to flash.
Any help will be appreciated.

Theres no way to do what you want as far as I know because after you're done re locking the bootloader it wipes the sd card and all data anyway so your best bet is to use HTC backup.

i recently unlocked and rooted my htc one max (Verizon) U.S....and I must have done something bad, cause now it fires up, but I have a message popping up saying my system UI has stopped working. I have searched all over my phone and can't even find a recovery...please help...and yes, I am a noob, so, sorry if this is a dumb situation..thanks
Since you're unlocked, you could go over to the bootloader and flash a recovery. After that sideload a rom and your recovery will do the rest!
You need to install a custom recovery so you can backup your phone for such problems. I hope it helps.

This is your option. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55225699 The links are all there.
You MUST have a "Bumped" TWRP.

The BEST way to do it is to flashtool zv4. Root and unlock it.
As for rooting zva-e, there are procedures linked in the thread. Unlocking the boot loader are there too, I believe. Doing it this way may cause issues. So I all depends how much work you want to go through.
Personally, just use ZV4, root/unlock. Then flash modem and whatever ROM you want.

Hey engine,
I did use flashtool to restore to ZV4, but it will not boot into the OS and just keeps powering itself off at either of the LG bootup screens

And that's just stock? Straight from flashtool? That shouldn't happen unless you wiped something out trying to do the laf partition.
Are you sure you have the Sprint 990?.
There's other threads here, one is stickied in "General", that you might need to read then. They're about fixing other issues that might feel you.

I appriciate your help! Yes, the phone restores just fine using flashtool with the ZV4 .tot file, but once it reboots it wont make it past the LG logo bootup screen. One time it made it all the way into the OS, and went through the activation process, then powered itself off. Now it wont reboot past the second animated LG logo.

I should also mention that sometimes when restoring the .tot with Flash Tool, it powers itself off in the middle of it and just keeps booting into download mode. It always happens anywhere between 30-60% when it says SYSTEM in the progress log. Could it be that my phones internal memory that stores that information is bad?
