Recently an issue has come up with my mobile data internet on my s3. For most of the time it works great but then suddenly it stops working at all. It won't open any pages, whatsapp/facebook sometimes work but not always but pages nope, it just gets stuck at loading. Tried restarting but it doesn't help, safe mode either. What is weirdest is I started tethering and it worked on my friend's phone when he connected to me!
I'm on 4.1.2, not running any rom. Anyone got ideas what to try or what it might be? I reset and deleted apn files but didn't help. I will backup and wipe it all as last resort but I really hate doing that because it takes too much time.
A wipe and reflash, recommended to update to latest firmware, are the first steps to take.

Most of the time when I browse the android market I lose service. Anyone come accross this issue and has a fix for it?

Ive been having this same issue. Att 2.2. Seems like everytime I go on I have a cinnection issue. I hit retry a bunch of times then my connection suddenky kicks back in.
I thought AT&T's network was acting flaky. This started happening to me after upgrading the market to 2.3.6. Worse, when I was on the phone last night talking, E (EDGE) was indicated instead of H (3G).
I can't verify this, but I believe the problem is with the update to the market.
Had this till I did a factory reset on 351 now its working fine again.
yea me too wierd at least itS only the market and in comes back after a couple secounds

Can you please tell how did you do that? did it from recovery mode or from settings-> privacy-> factory reset? anything would help.
Thanks in advance
Boot into recovery by holding the two volume buttons then turning the streak on. But the issue returned today.
Lets get some command ground on this. What version is everyone running?
I am on Stock 351 rooted baseband 35100-US
Rooted 351 with 351 baseband on AT&T.
Just a thought here. You might want to check around the forums and see whether all phones are affected, or if it's just Streaks on AT&T.
Hey guys, think i found a fix. It consists of merging the mms settings to the ATT US apn then deleting the ATT MMS apn. more info and a guide at my post here
Is this works I have same problem also using AT&T
This problem is always occurred to me I don't know the problem but this trick help me to recover the market connection problem,
1. since this problem occurred when using WIFI I go to setting->wireless&networks->unmarked wi-fi
2. try connect to market using 3G (it's always work for me)
3. after succeed connect to market using 3G, I go to setting again and marked the wi-fi.
I hope this can help to solve the problem without turn off, clear cache or factory reset.
In the last few days my phone has continuously been switching itself off or freezing and the only way to get it to work again is pulling the battery or resetting it. The phone is stock, running Android 4.1.2 with firmware I9300XXELLA.
I did notice the phone had switched itself off a few times before now, but now it has got to the point where its happening all the time. I've also noticed that when the phone is booting back up after the lock screen appears the message "Currently unable to download please try again later" is coming up (which I think is more than likely the problem, but when I do attempt to update the phone it says its up to date).
So far I've tried running without an SD card, clearing Touchwiz homes data and switching off auto updates but these have made no difference. If anyone can offer any help it'd be really appreciated as the last thing I want to do is exchange the phone as it can be a pain in the butt.
Tried factory reset? I would suggest flashing the same firmware using odin and see if that makes any difference beforehands.

I've only ever used kies so will have to investigate Odin.
Out of curiosity is there actually a manual way to check for updates through Kies, as I can't for the life of me see how too?
If there is an update, kies would show you the next firmware details below your current one I think.

Hi, I'm laso getting the same issue with I9300XXELLA via Kies.
I've reset, cleared the cache and cancelled any restores but still it happening.
I'm going to downgrade to an older version to see if it resolves this.
I had to do a factory reset in the end and that fixed the problem. Still a bit annoying though as it took me a day to get everything back to how it was and like an idiot I forgot to backup my SMS messages and call history even though I had an app installed that could do it (SMS backup+).
Recommend one from ritesh or something. Works like charm every time I used it so far

Fixed
I wanted to test before posting but I ended up installing 4.1.1 then updating to 4.1.2 without wiping. Very strange.
As an update to this thread the problem came back even after I did a factory reset. I didn't get the unable to download error message but I did keep getting the odd freeze. However after a day of doing it the problem weirdly stopped happening and now 'touch wood' is fine again.
I also wiped cache and reset my phone running stock 4.1.2 on O2. The freezing problem seems to have gone, it's been a couple of days now and no issues. I should say that the only thing I haven't put on yet is Flash, I have a feeling it might be problematic?

SDS SYMPTOMS --------- Solution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091045
Ironically I think the reason my phone was freezing the odd time after I factory reset it was because I didn't have flash installed. After I sideloaded it the phone hasn't had any more issues (this could be a coincidence though).
Ive just ran the eMMC checker that nhariamine linked to and it says that my chip is susceptible to sudden death (VTU00M, revision 0xf1) and is an insane chip.
Does Samsung's most recent firmware address this, an if not can I get them to replace my phone even if it doesn't die?
The second day after I did a factory reset my phone froze once too and it hasn't since then(about a week) I'm still afraid of installing flash. I use Dolphin browser and I can set the user agent to iPad which loads HTML5 versions of videos etc, obviously this only works on sites that have this possibility. I guess I'm trying to wean myself of flash for now.

Out of curiosity what does eMMC checker say about your phone when you run it?
That it's an insane chip lol I was basically preparing myself for my phone to die. Since wiping my phone it's only froze once in the last week. I still haven't installed flash.

Same problem here.
Uninstalled flash to see if it helps.

I have had this same issue for the past week and have just downloaded the eMMC checker and it seems I too have the phone that is susceptible to SDS.
I have noticed though that the phone only freezes when wifi is switched on though. I dont have any problems with wifi off. I downloaded lagfix from the playstore and ran that and it reduced the freezes from about 20 in a day to 3. I didnt realise wifi was the issue for me at that time though so it could be coincidental.
Updating Roms etc has not worked at all for me. If it keeps up for a few weeks i think i will need to change phones as its way too frustrating for a top tier phone to do this.
Same problem here
I've upgraded OTA few days ago... did a factory rest because the phone was slow... and yesterday the problem appeared out of no where!

Disabling "WiFi Power Save Mode" seems to solve it
1. Open up the Galaxy S3 phone dialer
2. Then dial *#0011#
3. Look for the “ServiceMode” screen and press the left menu button
4. Select “WiFi”
5. You should see that the “WiFi Power Save Mode” button is “ON” – now put it on “OFF”'
Re: Galaxy S 3 keeps freezing every 5 mins (50+ freezes a day)
I took this post from another thread, but it seems to be doing the trick for me too. Especially for those who are not rooted. Big thanks to linnuxxy

Interesting problem that I suddenly have after installing rom. First I have been installing just about every rom has come for the last 6 months. Today I installed latest Carbon ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310695 today and it installed ok, but upon booting for the first time, it got stuck the setup right at the beginning where I press the language (English). It just sat there and didn't do anything. I tried reinstalled the rom, and it did the same thing.
So I assumed a had a bad download, so I went to restore my daily driver backup rom (Zone sense 4 rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116509). But now I have no mobile data or mobile connection at all. I get a triangle next to the bars and whenever I restart phone I get this message "Global data roman access is allowed. Significantly higher charges may apply". I have never seen that before.
I have tried removing sim, toggling all mobile network options (CDMA, global, roaming, etc.) and I still get no connection at all. Any ideas here? I am on Verizon.

Thanks. I did that and it worked. Any thoughts on how to avoid that in future aosp roms? Did I do something wrong or is it totally random?

Its apparently random. I've had it happen twice, once back non CM10 when it just got RIL going, and a build ago on Carbon.
I'm going through this right now. I rru'd and can connect to 3g and use the data but no texts and when I try to make a call I end up with a Verizon message saying my number is inactive. Everything works fine on my backup phone. So its not a problem with Verizon
Edit... I'm going to ruu again and factory reset before booting because I think I remember seeing that posted at some point

EDIT 2.... re rru'd still having problems it will not make calls and will get 3g data when set to roaming which it seems to be on with the triangle above the signal.
anyone know the Verizon apn's i only have verizon internet in my apn list.
Edit 3 All fixed. i was factory resetting in stock recovery to no avail but a factory reset in sense itself worked
Hi all.
My better half is having a hard time with her s3.
She was on 4.1.2 on Orange in the UK. She told me that 'Internet' kept popping a message up saying that it had unfortunately stopped working.
I tried to clear the cache bit it wouldn't display the option under app settings for some reason. The phone was really slow and had a lot of crap installed.
To get around this i installed chrome which worked as a temporary fix.
Later I upgrade her to 4.3 via some EE firmware.
This seemed to make the phone much quicker but Internet remained the same.
Next step - factory reset. This again made no difference but as the phone was much more snappy, she was okay using Chrome...
1 day later... Her messages app has broken and hangouts too. Anything that involves sms doesn't work and I can't work it out.
Does anyone have any ideas? It doesn't make sense that it was working fine for a day but gone kaput all of a sudden.
Thanks in advance

Two questions:
1- which rom build did you install (showed in 'about device-> build number)
2- is the phone sim-unlocked?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
My cellphone data is constantly "uploading" or "upstreaming" even though I'm not uploading anything which is causing my messages and data to only partially work.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
I had downloaded the most recent update from T-Mobile but my phone was fine for about a week and then this started to happen.
I tried factory resetting my phone but that didn't work.
I even rooted my phone and installed a rom but no luck.
Any solutions?
Thanks in advance!
