Loudness of Z2 through headphones? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The Z1 and Z1c were on the borderline of being too quite for me. I use my phone as my dedicated music player, so this is an important quality for me.
Can anyone report on what volume levels are like? If possible, please state headphones used or headphone sensitivity.

Headphone vs Headset Volume/Sound Quality Differences

Hello all,
Just a curiosity I noticed. When using the included headphones with the in-line mic, the sound quality is really very good and the volumes far higher. However, when I try to use my Sennheiser HD 202-II headphones, I notice that the sound volume decreases greatly. For instance, what used to be loud at 12/30 with the headset, doesn't get loud until 22/30. I know it's a small annoyance, but the sound quality seems to suffer as well. Or maybe it's just the fact that I'm coming from a Zune HD whose quality spoiled me completely?
Anyway, was wondering if this could be alleviated by buying a pair of headphones with an in-line microphone. Can anyone recommend any? This Sony set is definitely intriguing (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294) but there aren't any reviews yet.
Thanks for any suggestions.
It's more likely due to differences in impedance and sensitivity - I have no problem with earbuds that do not have an inline mic.
For headphones with low sensitivity, consider an external headphone amp like one of the FiiO amps.
Thanks, didn't realize the included earbuds had an in-line mic. I bought a pair of Klipsch s4's that improve the sound a great deal. I don't think I'd ever need a mic, the one built into the player seems to pick up very well.

who's using z2 paired with sbh80?

the z2 i get doesn't come with the MDR-NC31EM noise cancelling headphones. so i'm think why not get the newest bt headphone and give it a try?
the thing about sbh80 most attractive to me is the aptX and noise canceling.
but before pulling the trigger, it would be great if someone already have this pair gives your opinion... good/bad/ugly
Sorry to hijack your thread. I don't own sbh80. Just wanted to know what's the use of aptX?

What about the noise cancelation features? I want to buy them but I don't know if they support native noise cancelation like the bundled headphones

I don't think the sbh80 has noise cancellation, when I was on calls, it sound very good, the other end can hear me clearly, it sound like a regular Bluetooth headset.
The NC31EM earphone is a true NC earphone, music sound varies a little according to the surrounding, you will hear some hiss on and off if the music is on pause, I haven't had a call conversation with it yet, so I can't compare the two on voice calls.
The SBH80 is a nice headset, it is very convenient to use, it sits around your neck when you don't use it, the control button is a bit small, I use my left hand to press the buttons on the right side, then right hand for the left side, it sound much better than the SBH52, as good as the MWV1.

Best headset for Xperia Z2

Hey guys
Last week I had lost my xb90
So now I am looking around for a new headset i found these three
1- Sony MDR-NC31
2- Sony MDR-NC750
3- Sony Xba-a1ap
I had never try the Digital Noise Canceling headset so i am just confused about them..
Can anyone tell me that there is any difference in terms of sound quality between Sony NC31 and NC750..
Specially after updating to (MM 6.0) because Sony clams that NC750 will support Hi-Res audio..
Please reply
Thanks..

i've heard the nc31 doesn't have that good bass. which you probably love seeing you had xb90. it's why i bought another extra bass earphone instead of the noise cancelling ones. the reviews said NC works like magic but the bass is low

i'm using mdr-xb50ap. it's amazing. xtra bass but also a good amount of treble if and when needed. you can certainly get better ones with the budget of noise cancelling earphones. i wasn't sure about them so i settled for this and i'm quite happy. and sorry i took quite a while to respond.

I'll recommend MDR-XB70AP (INR 2500/-) ebay offer price.
@ present i'm using SONY XBA-A1AP (INR 6500/-) bought from ebay.
I got the SOUNDMAGIC E50 which are amazing looking and it`s an amazing feeling with that memory foam technology for a better feeling and more clearance and a better bass. a must have is the BASSULTIMATE v10 +beta33 SOUNDMOD for the Z2 MM! MUCH BETTER HEADPHONE EXPERIENCE WITHOUT ANY CRACKLING
I have used
SoundMagic ES18
Sennheiser cx180
and now Sony MDR-XB50AP.
I've used:
-Sennheiser Cx300-II Precision.
-Sony MDR NC31EM.
-Sennheiser MM30g.
-JBL T100A.
-HTC Black In-Ear.
-HTC Max 300.
-Sony MDR NC750.
-JBL T280A.
If you want good bass; I'd recommend Cx300-II;
if you want good mids; I'd recommend T280A;
if you want good upper tones; I'd recomment T280A;
However, if you want to listen your music the better, louder, richer, clearer way; then you need an HTC One M8 or another upper HTC device with the black In-Ear HTC earphones. Sony is really bad at audio quality.
As for the NC31EM and NC750M, the so called "noise cancelling" cancels the noice by making some "hiss" sound at a very low decibel so your ears think it doesn't hear anything from the outer world.
However, any of the JBL or Sennheiser in-ear phones have better noice cancelling than these headsets. Their microphones are on the ear sides, so the call quality is terrible.
As for the music, they don't give anything promising in their price-range, they're just "SONY" .
The mids are very loud, I mean VERY loud, compared to upper and lower tones, they just eat your ear on high volumes, even without modding volume levels.
So you'll be wasting your money if you buy one of these.

Wait, what? The Sony's are amazing at audio quality, I should know, I have an Xperia Z2. HTC's skewer the audio towards more bass, heck too much bass, they ruin the mids and highs completely. It was worse when they had the Beats Audio tech, but it was improved with the M9, I can only speak on audio of the M9 because that's what I had experience with.
I played 'With Love' album, some Above & Beyond, a couple of songs from Monstercat, and some Frank Ocean, and the HTC's boosted the bass way too much on all of them and squashed the Mids and Highs. The Xperia by comparison was more accurate, it did put less bass than the HTC, but didn't squash the highs and mids to get there. Granted, the HTC did sound louder and the Xperia was quieter in comparison, (used with Sol Republic Tracks V8, LG Tonepro HBS 760 and Samsung Level Active Bluetooth In-earphones. Heck, I even used a Logitech G230 Gaming Headset.) but in terms of how the songs project I'd prefer the Xperia because they sound more real and not artificial. Also, the Xperias have SIGNIFICANTLY more granular tweaking with the audio quality.
My friend swears by her NC31EM used with Xperia Z3 Compact, they do block out almost all noise (except when screaming directly next to her) and the sound is well balanced and there's a good kick of bass...
I'm using xiaomi hybrid, good sound quality per price but when I turn on fm radio all I hear is headset's microphone sound... ?

I liked Senheiser CX275s until I get the following from TIZUM. This one outperformed the all earphones i used. Excellent bass and clarity. I found it awesome and got for 799INR only

Good Sound Mod for Z2 5.1.1

Anyone knows a good sound mod especially for mroe bass and clearance while using headphones for android lollipop?
(speaker quality isn`t that important. i want a nice sound and bass for my 80$ headphones)

Question Sony Xperia 1 IV speakers too low, how to fix?

Hello All. This is my first Sony phone and the volume output is abysmal on this thing. Even in a quiet empty room it seems you can hardly hear anything useful until the volume bar is at halfway. Is there a fix for this to increase the total output of the speakers? (Also seems to have low volume with wired headphones)
well, sony certainly is not among the louder ones, think that this goes a waaaaaaaay back when EU put some regulation on how loud portable devices can be. Back then it was really terrible, NC phones were nonexistent, just like chinese IEMs. Not much to chose from and to pick something with higher sensitivity. Mine sound OK with the earphones I have, even with XM2 on cable. Could it be louder? Yes. Does it need to be? Probably not. So try some more sensitive headphones or try some DAC, those are cheap and really portable this days. If you have a decent headphones, it might even improve the sound.
And the phone itself.......don't have anything in the same class and age to compare with. Seems OK or as crappy as any other phone TBH. BT speakers are dirty cheap today and any single one will outperform a phone, just like a soundbars and TVs, so I never really use phone speakers when I wanna listen something. For messages and useless videos is fine
Very good suggestions. Just seems odd that a flagship phone is this low. Even old phones I have laying around are louder. Its about as odd as the flashlight brightness. SMH lol
well, wifey has a poco f2 pro. And that one can be heard on the other floor of the house. And while certainly louder then xperia it is also certainly way worse sound the higher you go. I mean, there is only so much you can do with speakers and enclosure of that size. Clearly, bass is not something that is expected so forget that. But highs on poco getting terrible after some 75% volume, you just want it to go silent. I can tolerate the noise from xperia at max level but can't the one from poco. SONY was all about sound quality on promo materials so that might be the reason. lower volume but "better" sound quality.
Back in the days I had N900, that was a thick brick, also with stereo speakers and remember it as one of the better sounding phones.
No issue with mine for bluetooth headphones, never listen to videos/music direct on the phone so not something that concerns me at all, I always have headphones nearby. Having said that, just tested it listening to music and volume seems in line with expectations and my other phones....sorry
