To my surprise the other day I got my phone to turn back on after dropping it in the hot tub while it was on, almost. After pulling off the back half and thoroughly drying it out the phone powered back on everything else works except the home back and search keys the ones that light up at the bottom. But they do work sometimes, most of the time actually. When the keys are working, every once in awhile the menu will keep flashing up on screen and when i hold the menu key it stops.
I re flashed the ROM thinking it may have developed a glitch being wet, nothing.
I tried drying it out more, nothing.
I'm not sure how the keys work but if i completely remove the front glass and clean the inside of it would that do anything? When it dried out the water did leave a slight film. It almost seems like there is a bad connection somewhere.
Thoughts?
should of left power off and in rice for 24-48 hours + befor turning it back on but it may help im not to sure havent taken the glass off my phone yet
let me know what happens
Might not want to hear it, but if you have insurance, NOT warranty, you should go ahead and get it replaced. Water logged phones never work the same, and usually don't last much longer when you do get it running again.
Thus device is still new enough that you should be able to get a replacement brand new out of the box from the insurance company.

As in really bricked.
It was working all day, used it as a sat nav on the way home from work, when I got home took it out my pocket and tried to turn it on. Nothing, the notification LED was pulsing white but no reaction from the screen or capacitive buttons.
Pulled battery, plugged back in with no reaction. Tried another battery, nothing. Plugged in, nothing.
It's still within warranty so I've arranged for samsung to fix it, which they are happy to do. Only problem is, is the flash counter is probably > 100 and I have no way of resetting it.
1/ Considering I get no reaction from the phone at all, I'm guessing a jig is no good to me.
2/ Are samsung likely to notice or care that it is currently running CM 10 (probably yesterdays or the day befores nightly)
So is the device completely non responsive?? If so then Samsung will just wipe and flash the device in whatever way they do so. I really wouldn't worry about the flash counter buddy

1. A jig may still work and probably worth the little money trying.
2. Samsung will care and generally won't help you if you flashed a custom rom....unless you get someone who doesn't know what they are doing....which is very possible. At worse they will send your phone back as they received it.
Let us know how things go on.

Thanks, I was going to go and buy the bits to make one, but found one on ebay for 99p so I'll try that.
I'm not too fussed if samsung notice and refuse to fix it, it is possible that it was something I have done to it has borked it, even though I hadn't flashed anything new for a couple of days. Besides, I knew that rooting and flashing invalidates the warranty, for good reason, they are perfectly in their rights to refuse. If they tell me it will be a charge to fix it I will pay it (as long as it's not too extortionate).
I need to get the pictures off my phone, its 100% bricked. I took it into Sprint and they couldn't fix it. I can't turn it on, can't get into recovery, absolutely nothing. Please help!

Im sorry but i think you're SOL, if the phone is in an unbootable state then there is no way of getting your pictures off it, just a friendly word of advice, either have all pictures save to the Micro SD or back it up (auto upload) using Google+/Dropbox Etc.

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter, as well. Even if you can revive the phone via a process like Jtag, you'll most likely end up losing everything that's stored on the phone. You might try shooting a PM to XDA member Zarboz regarding the issue, as he has a Jtag RiffBox and is familiar with the process.
Also, I saw your other post regarding the phone dying on you. Have you tried charging the phone for an extended period of time? I've seen some wonky cases on here where the phone died and acted as though it were bricked, only to power back up after being charged for awhile.

I ran into the same issue with a 2 month old Evo. Try this:
Pop off the upper back cover. Get a torx screwdriver, remove the screws holding on the opaque charcoal-colored cover that goes over the camera. using the edge of something not too sharp, gently push the left side of the grey cover to the right *GENTLY* to get the clip on the right side to release. Now, using that same tool, pry the grey cover from the bottom slightly. Be careful, as there's adhesive attached to the cover and camera lens. Now, once you've removed the grey cover, you'll see a wiring harness with 3 pairs of wires in the bottom right corner. use something to remove that harness very carefully - this is going to be an actual 'battery pull'. 10 seconds later, press the harness back into place *DO NOT FORCE IT*. Now, try powering the phone on.
This fixes my phone for however long as I leave that charcoal cover off of it. As soon as I put it back on, watching logcat I believe it's triggering a faulty thermal sensor which there isn't a fix for. I was able to pull all my wife's stuff off her phone as well as factory reset it before I send it off to HTC>
I work for a Verizon Premium Retailer and one of our display model S4's rebooted and now will boot to the screen that shows the battery charging when the phone is off, then it reboots after about 5 seconds. Hearing the phone vibrate every 5-10 seconds was getting extremely irritating so I ripped the phone off display and used Odin to do a FULL WIPE mk2 flash with the pit file. Phone STILL will not attempt to power on unless it is connected to a charging source, will not boot into recovery, and will only go the download mode. It continues to reboot constantly when plugged in as well.
I had the same problem with an s3 at a premium retailer I used to work for. I wouldn't blame the phone just yet although a full Odin flash should work is it marked as display only or a customer model just being used as a display.
Also don't mess with the display units! Where I worked I attempted to fix the s3 previously mentioned but a previous coworker had the anti theft clamps torqued to tight so I went get the tool to loosen it, set the phone down. Came back entire screen is cracked and they blamed it on me. So word of caution friend don't mess with display units unless you absolutely know what to do. But I'm sure you already knew that

Haha well our phone antitheft mechanism is a joke. It's only attached to the battery door and I just took that off and brought the phone in the back with me lol. But yea the phone does absolutely nothing responsive. On a side note did you enjoy working there? Only ask because the one I work at goes above and beyond how terrible I thought a business could be run. lol
maybe
A friend of mine just had a problem similar and he could only get into dwld mode, so he did just that and downloaded a update, or a new version and the phone did a update to the version he dwnlded and it was up and running perfectly... I have a problem, in the thread above, if anyone wants to weigh in... Im lost for words. Ready to buy one with a busted display and switch things around if I get no answers... Anyway, hope this may have helped...If so, give a thanks plz... Good day

I droped my DNA about 1 month ago and the screen cracked, luckily the digitizer was fine but the glass was cracked bad. Then a week later I guess I was to "rough" with my DNA and I screwed up the digitizer. Al I could see was a black screen with some green and purple lines going on it. So I needed to get it replaced, it would cost me around $150. Everything was working, even the screen, I could still feel the vibrations of me trying to put in my passcode, in other words, it could still recognize me puting in touch inputs but I could couldn't see what I was touching. I put in my head phones to listen to music, and it was fine, the sound was clear and everything. 2 weeks later I go to the repair shop to get it fixed, they put on a new screen and it looks brand new. I get home and I notice the side of the screen is messed up because when I try and press the q button on the keyboard it types the lettet w. So as hard as I try to type the letter q, it won't work. Sadly, I didn't test out my earpiece or the headphone jack. Now I take it back and they order a new LCD and digitizer. I come back in a couple of days so they can put it on the screen works fine. The next day I try to call one of my friends but I notice there was a problem. When I call the screen goes as normal, but when I take the phone away from my head, the screen doesn't come back on. No matter how hard I tried to get it back on, it would get back on. Worst, the earpiece didn't work. I couldn't hear anyone in a call, they could here me but I couldn't here them. I take it back to the repair place, they order like 10 earpieces but it didn't fix the issue. Now they are saying that the problem is my motherboard. So at this point, the only things that don't work are the proximity sensor, the camera because I get an error (cannot connect to camera error), the earpiece, and the headphone jack because its all staticy when I try to watch youtube videos. Yes I have tried many many headphones but the problem keeps persisting. I forgot to mention that my doubletap2wake doesn't work or my sweep2wake. A couple of days later the guy who owns the shop says the problem is the motherboard. I try to get my money back but I had no luck. What do guys have to say? I came in for one problem to get fixed, then I get another. Worst of all my phone just shuts off at like 50%. I can't restart it or anything, I have to connect it to a charger in order to turn it on? What do you guys have to say? They said that when you open up the phone, the pins that holding things in place break off and people get these issues. Sorry for this being so long.

Sounds like they messed it up bad when they put it back together. What repair service did you use. It might not even be worth bothering with the phone anymore it sounds like they messed it up when they were in there fixing it. Make them fix the entire thing or make them get you a new phone. Judging by how many problems are present you may as well just get a new phone.
Please press the thanks button if I have helped you in anyway.

I do agree it is time to move on to a new phone. Although as much as we want to MAKE THEM get us a new phone because they missed it more then it was already messed up. Not going to happen. I have the HTC one max and I would recommend that and or you could go after the latest HTC device the famous M8

Nope, warranty expired a couple of months ago. The weird thing is, my friend stepped on my phone at school, then when I turned it over, it wasn't cracked and what is more bazzar, everything was working fine, the dt2w, the s2w, the earpiece, the proximity sensor, the camera. Then an hour later, those things were back to not working again.

Here is what I would do in this situation. Sell this phone as a phone that is not working and can be used for parts on eBay. Then with whatever money you can get try and buy a new phone.

I just got my DNA from a friend who bought it for $100 used. The only reason he didn't want it is he didn't realize he wouldn't get LTE on AT&T..It's near mint condition...so, they're out there.

Sorry ^^^Agreed^^^
its your main board. but you can get a new DNA off ebay for 150$ or less. or buy one with a cracked screen for about 70 bucks and take the mother board out
