So it fell, a shallow drop, but it knocked a corner.
From the corner it cracked to the opposite corner.
So is there a way to buy a digitizer and stuff? The other thread is kinda old so I figured I'd rewrite again.

I noticed there are dust in the front of my phone, you know, where the screen joins the sides bezel. While I may be anal, but I worry about dust getting in under the screen as have happened on my previous mobile phones.
Is that likely to happen to the SGS2? ie dust under screen.
Is there an skin that will go over the joining cracks to stop more dust getting inthere?
Yes there is dust between screen and the surrounding plastic, because of the small gap. But no dust under my screen yet.
I think Samsung took care of it.
you will hardly be able to get any dust under the screen since glass and the screen are one. so its kinda impossible
Agreed with the above comment. The Digitizer (Touchscreen) and the Display is joint together and it is not possible to separate them, hence there is no chance of dust getting accumulated between the Display and the Touchscreen.
Same with the Galaxy S
well, it seems that its not so impossible afterall...
I just can't believe me eyes just woke up this morning and reached for my phone, after a small wipe of the screen i saw one little spot that wasn't coming off... after a closer look i realized that the little spot of dust is sitting comfortably under my screen
this is a real bummer for me, never had a similar issue on my previous phone, does anyone know a real solution for this issue?
will try to take a picture and post it later
no dust for me

Did you manage to remove the dust or did it get stuck like that?
Was bored and decided to try and pry open the glass on the front of my X10 (bad idea, I know) and eventually the top half of the glass screen came off, but the bottom was still attached to a small, bronze colored metal strip. The screen then cracked (small crack) in the bottom left corner.
See first picture attachment (1060)- This is what I initially did.
At this point I decided to put the screen back on and only the bottom half or so of the touch screen was working, nothing that I did on the top part responded.
Attempting to fix this, I decided to take the entire front glass off and try to clean the digitizer as some finger oil, etc. had gotten on. In the process, I believe that I may have broken the same, metal strip (the one that is always attached to the front glass in pictures, etc.).
See second picture attachment (1061)
Is there any way to fix this somehow? I've tried aligning the bronze strip with the part on the digitzer but the touch screen doesn't work at all now.
The display itself seems to be fine and from what I know about touch screens, the metal strip is what transfers that the transparent conductor on the glass itself, so I'll only have to replace the front glass/metal strip right?
.
heh..I did same thing with my X10...I think there is no solution for this, you can only put new touch screen.
Hello!
My Samsung Galaxy S2 screen broke and today I received the new screen and it didn't include a tape for attaching the screen perfectly.
The adhesive tape the screen has does not cover the corners and I believe I might run into problems if the screen is not properly attach to corners
Can someone help me find on ebay the best tape which will let me put the S2 screen perfectly to it's place?
I am currently writing from a sgs2 whose screen I replaced personally. After a month or so of thinking, I decided not to use any adhesive other than the one which is already on the screen. Although the screen can go up and down initially (we're talking about half a mm, and only on the right side) , after a night under some books or with some pressure on it it settles, until unless you push firmly on the sides of the screen, you won't be able to tell the difference from a brand new one.
My advice is: get some double sided strong vhb adhesive on amazon or eBay and put it on the upper left side of the screen, between the secondary camera and the screen, and on the upper right side if there is none left ( if there's some leave it, it'll do its job just fine, and it is nearly impossible to remove) Remove any other adhesive, peel off the protective films and apply the screen (careful about the home key and the speaker grill).
Remember to clean the whole surface with alcohol from dust, and the hole where the camera will go, I didn't and dust remained. You can't see it on the pics, but it pisses me off badly!

I've got a Galaxy S III (i9300) with a very shattered front glass. The display and digitizer works just fine though. Menu, back and home buttons too. Everything is working, i just need to replace the front glass. I've once replaced the whole front package (LCD, Glass, Digitizer) on a Galaxy S2 very successfully so i have some form of experience.
Will be my first time replacing only the front glass. Unfortunately i wont be able to put any LOCA there as i dont have any UV light. I do however some regular adhesive 2mm tape that i will put around the screen to prevent dust and stuff from coming in. Also i dont have a IR thermometer and i will be using a hair dryer. I know how hot it has to be by feeling it. I should almost not be able to hold my hands on the glass. It might take a very long time but if its possible to do it, im willing to try.
What i'm worried about is the glass shards that are in the middle of the screen. Most shards end at the edge of the screen so i can apply pressure there when im removing the shards. But the shards in the middle have all edges on the digitizer. I cannot apply any form of pressure towards the digitizer so im worried of how ill remove them. Also the left lower corner around the menu button is full with tiny shards. like 0.5mm-3mm shards. Im wondering what is the best way of removing them? BTW i still got the touch screen protection plastic on. It got bubbles now cuz of the cracks.
Here is a picture of how cracked it is. Its not exact but close enough. Paint is OP.
The black spot in bottom is where the glass is simply gone. It fell of after time. I put some tape over it to cover it up so nothing can fall in.
Any advice on how to remove these shards?
Very appreciated
I got a small little crack on the top left side of my s3. It doesnt spread to the display at all luckily
But im a bit afraid of glass pieces, so i applied screen protector on that crack.
The touchscreen is still working perfectly fine. But i wonder if there's any reason for the need of replacing it just in case.
No, if the crack doesn't spread it's safe to use, doesn't matter if the screen or digitiser gets damaged as they would all have to be replaced to fix the crack anyway.
