|I9300| bootlodaer downgrade to reset binary counter [SOLVED] - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello , My I9300 is running MK7 Bootloader (part of 4.3 firmware) , and NO matter what i tried TriangleAway wouldn't reset the flash counter, so from what i understand I have to flash older Bootloader to get T/A working again , i have the XXELLA file , a 4.1.2 bootloader that from what i read supposed to still work with T/A , but as my phone is running on 4.3 bootloader i am afraid flashing a 4.1.2 bootloader will brick it , tried to do a search but couldn't really find much data on flashing 4.1.2 bootloader when a 4.3 one is installed.

Try factory reset first
Question is do i need to reset custom binary counter to reinstall the original firmware??
No but counter still shows custom rom number
And do i need to use SuperOneClick to re root my phone? YES

Any advice on how to work out the original firmware or does it matter??

If you want to downgrade it, I would look at flashing KE1 with Odin. Have a look in the android development forum.
It was my understanding that flashing official roms does not increase the counter, but flashing anything else does. So flashing the custom kernel will increase the counter. You can look at getting yourself a jig to reset it.
As for rerooting, yes, you'll need to do that again after flashing down to KE1.
Or you can just stick with it, I've heard it doesn't actually prevent functionality, it's just annoying. I'd anticipate a KE3 soon to fix the problem.
Personally if on Orange i would wait for the upgrade due KE3 .
Original firmware Orange branded phone is warranted by seller .
Stock firmware via Odin and Samfirmware is stock Samsung firmware . Seller may reject this under warranty but Samsung cover it .
Kies will probably not update requires Odin and Samfirmware for updates .
Rooting breaks your warranty full stop and requires removing before warranty claims .

Rooting your phone doesn't change your firmware.. You're still on the stock firmware unless you flashed a new rom. Goto settings>about device> and see your build.. Then goto Sammobile and downlaod the rom that is listed for Panama and matches your carrier or build whichever. Download it and flash it rom via Odin and you'll be unrooted.
though i don't see any point in unrooting. Rooted is always better.

[Q] can flash firmware over soft unlocked 3 uk phone?

Hi
My friend has UK 3 galaxy s2 i9100. It is sitting on stock ICS 4.03 firmware and It was previously locked but I unlocked it for him by rooting with CF-Root and installed an app Galaxy_S Unlock by helroz
It worked like a treat but now his phone is getting laggy and freezing so a re-flash of the firmware is on the cards.
I would prefer to flash the latest JB firmware for him but if need be will just re-flash current firmware and wipe to get his phone all good again
If I re-flash current firmware will I lose lock and have to re-do? or Can I even think about flashing latest JB and still be able to maintain unlock or be able to re-unlock it?
The unlock app says it modified nv_data.bin so is that just an option to backup the nv_data and restore it after reflash?
Appreciate any advice.. cheers
His current build is XWLP7 baseband I9100NELP3

flah with offcial knox enabled firmware

a while ago i updated my galaxy s4 to kitkat and rooted it , at which time i didn't know about Knox warranty void. recently i was trying to flash my i9505 with the official lollipop firmware but to no success and in Odin mode the Knox counter is at 1. and after much googling i found that once the Knox warranty is ticked there i no way of going back and i cant install any higher official firmware because they are Knox enabled. so my question is is there anyway to flash my s4 with official lollipop firmware from sammobile or if its not possible what about custom roms can i flash my phone with them if so please do tell custom roms which are very similar with the official Samsung ROM.
additional my mobiles is originally a sprint variant of s4 which is now unlocked so must i use the firmware for l720(snapdragon) or any firmware for i9505 works. also i was able to flash CWM recovery on it with odin with out any problem but i always get error when i try to flash it with official firmware as soon as it starts and in odin mode it says write protection is enabled..............any help will be appreciated.

Was the phone running the latest bootloader and modem before you flashed a custom rom?

I was running a stock rom on a stock kernel for the modem i dont know.
Sounds to me like the bootloader and modem are too old for the custom rom. Flash the latest stock rom from Sammobile.com to ensure the modem and bootloader are matched and up-to-date.
Are you sure it is an i9300 motherboard? Not a Korean or Japanese version?
You can confirm the model number by booting into Odin mode.
Yea the motherboard is GT-I9300 so its international version
I have downloaded from sammobile and tried custom rom stillno work but when i got the motherboarc it had android 4.1.3 or 4.1.2 i dk
You confirmed the model number in Odin mode? What error are you getting in the Odin log?
There is no error it says that its custom and nothing else
The Odin log comes from the app, not the Odin screen on the phone.
On the phone's Odin screen, it says gt-i9300?
On the phone it says that its gt-i9300 but when i connect my phone to odin it dosent say anything
