Trouble Rooting S5 on Mac - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I am trying hard to root my friends Tmobile S5 and I keep running into problems. I am using JODIN which I guess is basically Odin thats able to run on Mac. Every time I try to run CF Auto Root through JODIN it says I need the PIT file and every time I go through the steps of rebooting to attempt to locate the .PIT file it always fails. My next step is to try and use Heimdall but for the time being do you guys have any help or advice on how to root this phone properly on the Mac?

I don't want to be that guy...but you're best off using a PC to do it.

[Q] Strange rooting problem!

Hey!
I was trying to root my friends phone, since I got more experience than him on rooting.
I downloaded Super One Click Root 2.3.1 and rooting it was a success.
I got Superuser and Busybox installed, but here's where my problem starts.
I still have the original recovery(download mode) look, so it hasn't changed.
I can't backup my phone using ROM manager, it says whole-verification failed(or something like that).
I can't use Odin v1.85 because I'm getting stuck on Setupconnection.
So, shortly said, I can't backup or restore anything. But I do have ROOT access.
Because of that I don't wanna continue installing any ROM's or Kernels!
Any kind soul wanna help me out? <3
This isn't anything like rooting a Nexus S

Is that method not out of date .

[Q] Can't have OTA, craving for ICS

Hello,
I am using a Galaxy S2 (I9100) running Android 2.3.3 that has been rooted with the zerglings method (the one with busybox where you don't use ODIN and just execute the batch file from your computer). I am currently stuck with a wireless mobile broadband connection that wont let Kies update (Gets stuck at "preparing firmware upgrade components"). Yes, I am using the latest Kies and have tried on a different laptop as well.
Now that I cannot have the official update from Samsung, and since I already have lost my warranty, what is the safest way that I can use to upgrade to ICS? And in case I end up bricking it, can I recover it?
Another reason why I am a bit unsure is that I don't want to lose root. I hope I'll be able to retain root and other installed apps (like Droidwall, ES File explorer etc.)?
Regards,
Sayak
Regardless of what upgrade path you end up taking, you will lose root. Sorry.
As long as you find and use a firmware meant for your exact model phone, there is no danger in flashing a firmware with Odin. (unless you do something weird, like unplug the phone or your computer loses power in the middle of the flash or something)
There is a thread on this forum with all the stock GB/ICS roms you need. (Look and you will find).
All you do is flash which rom you need and if you want root simply flash a custom kernel via odin like Siyah.

rooting problems

I tried rooting my Galaxy S3 using Odin3 v1.85 with CF Root- SGS3 -v6.3 but was unsuccesful. I thought i bricked my phone but was able to re-flash with boot-stock sprint-SPH-l710 to get it back to a useable condition.
I tried to root it again using the same method but i keep getting the same result and i keep having to flash it with the stock sprint file.
When i put the phone into download mode it shows 11 attempts and as being custom but the phone is not rooted.
Any suggestions on how to complete the root process?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Unable to Root my GS3 i-565 (verizon)

Hi, I have been trying to root my GS3 for many days now, searched everything I can to figure out what is going on, tried Mac & Windows and cannot get this thing to root. I am running 4.1.2, currently. I have attempted to do the Odin 3.07, ran that step by step and the process failed. I try to unlock the bootloader and everything tells me I need to have a rooted device. I continuously receive "Permission Denied" when trying to root, which I read means I need to change the r/w, which i haven't been able to do either. I used the Ninja aboot thing, that didn't work.
what am I doing wrong? Can someone help me?
I figured things out. I was unintentionally cutting corners. I took my time and made sure all files were downloaded fully and followed step-by-step. I am going to root someone's phone tomorrow.
