Woah! I'm going to try to defuse the situation, but I'm afraid I'm going to get caught in the explosion, so I'll address each one of you separately...
AndroidWarrior
Ok, I know you were just asking a question, but there are ways to ask which will (hopefully) prevent some of these types of responses. Note, I am not excusing Epix4G's posts, but just trying to help you (and hopefully the community) get "real" answers to their questions.
Now, let's look at your post
I heard somewhere down the pipelines that there was a mod to get the download booster on the sprint note 3. Is this true? If it is, how can I find it? Thanks for reading.

At first glance, this follows a pretty good standard of questions. It is short, relatively clear, and polite.
What I would change is the following:
Show you're not a "noob"
Add a bit more back story to where you heard of these rumors and your search for answers. One of the reasons that people like Epix4G (and if I'm honest, myself) get upset about is answering the same question 50 times by people who have not searched for the answers themselves. If you show that you're capable of searching and finding answers, you're more likely to get an answer, if that makes any sense.
Don't bump your thread with "???"
I know you hadn't had an answer within two days. This is frustrating when you have a legitimate question. But bumping is a way to get negative attention to your post, especially if you don't add anything to the original question. In my perspective, if a question I ask isn't answered within a day or two, I either need to clarify or adjust what I'm asking. Just posting a "???" is saying "Hey, you didn't pay attention to my original question and I need an answer ASAP!!!" Personally, I would be less inclined to answer a bumped thread like that.
But if you had bumped with "Hey, I haven't received any responses yet and have been searching a lot trying to find an answer. Here is a link to something I found: LINK. Has anyone seen anything further on this?" That would be a much more compelling bump/question to reply to.
Don't feed the trolls
I know it's tough, but replying to a snarky comment will just derail a conversation and make the thread lose focus. No one wants that. Everyone involved looks like either a jerk or immature (or both). One think I do when receiving criticism (even if it's disguised in insult) is step back and evaluate if the criticism is valid. Epix4G's comment was:
Don't you think there would be a thread you would have found had you searched .... No there is no working download booster for any note yet ....
Click to collapse
From that, I see that he is assuming that you hadn't searched for an existing thread. Well, had you? If you hadn't, then that could be your bad. You could have found that information without asking a question. If you had searched prior to asking, maybe it'd be good to note that in your question, so that in the future you don't have those type of replies.
Don't take things too personally
Remember, to Epix4G, you're just another random name on the internet. He doesn't live next to you or see you day-to-day. He's not insulting the entirety of your being. He saw a question you posted on the internet and thought badly of it. His comment, while no one could call polite, is meant as a corrective suggestion. In his own way, he's trying to make XDA a better place. You have two ways you can respond to it: take insult, or try to learn from it.
Epix4G
Let me start be saying this: I see XDA as a community of people. I believe if people search before posting, the XDA community will be a better place. I also believe that belittling or insulting comments will hurt the community.
I, too, get tired of people asking questions without searching. I also want to tell them to get off their butts and actually search before asking. But there are ways to do that which help the community and those which hurt the community. Comedy is great and has it's place, but remember, we're not at The Ice House watching Don Rickles rail on a heckler. We're at XDA, a place where people come to collaborate and have fun messing around with their phones (and tablets).
In my opinion, a much more constructive comment would be the following:
Hey AndroidWarrior, there is currently a thread over here (provide link) which someone has asked this before. You can go over there for any follow up questions. Oh, and it'd help to do a search before posting a question, since it doesn't help having duplicate question threads on XDA.
Click to collapse
or the following:
Hey AndroidWarrior, there isn't a thread about this yet, and in searching, no threads mention it. So if it's not here on XDA, it's safe to say it's not working on the Note 3 yet. Where did you hear these rumors from? Providing a source would help us sort out f they are true of not.

Short, succinct, doesn't make it a personal attack on the OP. I think the mistaken line of thinking is the following: "I need to really impress upon this person that they need to search before posting. I should do something snarky or sardonic in order to convey this." I understand that in real life, sarcasm is a great way to convey importance, but it isn't translated well into the digital space. I've found that a clear answer to their question with a short corrective statement works a lot better than a rebuff. Let's face it, people are more likely to listen to a person who is willing to help them.
In Summary
Let's all try to make XDA a better place, but let's be smart about it:
Search before asking questions
Be clear of your questions
Dont feed the trolls
Sincere help is better for a community than snarky replies.

That guy is a freaking moron in that video ... He is using the s5 port rom from here and download booster doesn't work even on the s5 yet let alone the note 3 ... Here is a pic I posted and if you read the bottom it doesn't work with apps downloaded from the play store ... That is proof
The only thing on sprint that has it working is the s4 and if you flash that all it will do is boot loop ....

Ok, from what I can tell, this Mod is still in the very basic stages of development. IT's originally meant for the Galaxy S4 and even on theirs, it's not consistently working. In fact, after reading through that thread for a little bit, it rarely works.
The description of the Youtube video links to the Bonsai Rom. This Rom doesn't specifically talk of having the Download Booster, but in this post, the OP says that there is an option in the settings. No where in the thread does it say that it actually works.
Now, call me a skeptic, but I think the amazingly fast download speeds that the Youtuber is getting are from his Google Fiber connection. His earlier videos show him getting his Google Fiber hooked up. I'd say that unless you also are on Google Fiber, you're not going to get anywhere near the speeds he's getting, regardless of Booster working.
Just my two cents.
Anybody can download with 1gb per second Internet .... They have said to be coming to Phoenix ..... pretty please Google fiber
It's only 70 a month too

And you could also argue that if you're on Google Fiber, enabling the Download Booster could actually slow down your downloads, since it's splitting part of the file up to Sprint 4G, which, let's face it, will never get to the speeds of Fiber (or, at least not in my lifetime).

According to a review I just read the Google fiber box will only allocate 200 mb to a single device ... To get more you have to add your own ac router
This guy has TV and all 125 a month lots cheaper than Cox here ...http://www.dslreports.com/comment/3910/90792

200 Mb is still faster than I've ever gotten on Sprint LTE (in Los Angeles area), but that's either here nor there... This Google Fiber thing is really interested. I hope other ISPs get the idea that cheap, fast internet is possible. Or Google will just eventually spread across the country until the ISPs have to change.

Well I actually just tried LD4 for the first time, after having run LC5 for a month or so (having found LC5 to be the fastest for me - by at least 20 - both in San Diego....and near D.C., where I live. Trying LD4 today I've noticed that it seems to be more consistent in it's data speed, but probably about 10-20% (more like 10-15%) slower than LC5, for me - putting it somewhere in second place, right behind the LC5 for speed. It's pretty decent for speed, but not quite LC5 level. Just my $0.02 . I favor speed over consistency any day, but that's just cus I hate waiting.

BTW, I'd say stfu about all the asking about posts and crap. I've looked through a few of those posts before (the ones 'that have already been posted about this'), and they all just say the same thing; test em out and see for yourself. I for instance, have tried both, and am willing to give my feedback. That's probably what the OP was looking for, so quit trolling the world and let the informative people (me in this case) give their opinion.
So now instead of just having 3 or so threads people on google will sift through to find out that no one answered their question. They'll sift through 3 or so and find out that in my personal opinion, LC5 is the fastest

Yeah I have yet to test between the two in low service type of situations or areas (basement) but I figure if I'm in a low service area, it's not gonna matter whether I have 1 bar or 2. If I want to use data at a reasonable speed badly enough, i'ma move to a better spot haha. As I stated in my last post though, LCD4 did seem more consistent

I understand it's not entirely necessary. but why not? I just read all the rules and there's absolutely nothing that says anything against this thread. The rules do mention things against what has been said about the guy starting this thread. And rule #10 seems to make starting this thread perfectly ok, right?
You want to help? Then find a thread where you have expertise or desire and post in it. Starting one of these threads is unnecessary and starting two just shows how clueless you are. I won't even comment on the racial undertones of his member name.
Alright folks...
Yes, he shouldn't have posted this in a new thread, and certainly not twice. However, XDA is a place for CIVIL discourse.
We can politely point out his error, then report the thread for a Mod and move on. All the junk that follows is nearly as bad as the OP.
Simply ignoring bad posts/threads is a lot easier than flaming the OP then flaming each other.

Ugh. I understand the OP was just trying to be helpful and thats commendable, but its not necessary to make a thread about it. At the very lest, a post can be made in the rom/kernel threads donating his time to help.
Trolls be trollin...
If you've seen this video before, then you'll understand what it stands for, for the others? Watch, listen and don't be surprised when you never receive an answer.
This is a development site, a lot of effort is put into creating user friendly guides and tutorials.
In this Specific device forum, we put more effort into gathering all information and troubleshooting about this device here:
The Ultimate Guide to Everything Amaze-ing!(Amaze 4g BIBLE!) Updated Often
If it's absolutely NOT there, then find a thread similar to it and post in there, DO NOT post a new thread for every question, if you have an old thread post it there, if you have multiple questions, post it all in one post and if you have another question that comes to mind after that post, EDIT your post and add it in, DON'T MAKE THREE POST FOR THREE QUESTIONS, WE ARE NOT GOING TO READ, ANSWER, READ, ANSWER AND KEEP REPEATING THE SAME PROCESS WHICH COULD'VE BEEN DONE IN THE FIRST REPLY!
If you're too lazy to search for the answer to your own problem, then don't expect US to do it for you, we KNOW what's available and what isn't, so telling us you can't find it? Just lets us know YOU ARE LAZY.
If you're a total NOOB? I'd advise you to head over to the amaze bible, read, understand, read it again, understand and read AGAIN until you grasp the detail and understand what you're dealing with, if you don't get it? You must be a tad bit slow.
DO NOT bombard dev threads with questions, read their FAQ post, READ IT READ IT READ IT and again READ. Your question has been answered before and if you're the only one having that problem? It's obviously not the devs fault. Found a bug? If it's unique, worth looking at and it wasn't answered before, POST A LOGCAT, we aren't mind readers or magicians!
DO NOT post questions in the general forum! There is a question and answer forum for a reason, I from this day refuse to answer questions posted in the general forum, regular and advanced members should do the same, this practice has to STOP.

You get an answer or any kind of HELP, press the THANKS button, DON'T post "thanks", you're already welcome, but is it really relevant to post a whoooole post just to say "thanks"? really? There's a button for that.
Press thanks on every rom thread you open and download, you don't have any idea the countless hours devs spend creating the ROMs they do JUST FOR YOU to have better experience using YOUR device, though he/she is getting nada for it. Be grateful, press THANKS!
Donate to a dev if you can, a little donation is a very welcome and very much appreciated form of showing a dev their work is loved and appreciated, their countless hours of their own personal time was totally worth it and that you end users think they deserve just a kind token of appreciation for their work. It goes a long way, even if it's a simple 5 bucks, most of them are college/high school students, like many of our devs here, so hit that thanks button and donate if you can, it's very much appreciated.
Do Not PM devs or common regs or MODS unless they say they're okay with getting PM's, have a problem with a post? Then report it, not everyone wants their inbox being blown up with irrelevant questions and things that can be found in a forum, they usually have support threads, use those to let a dev know something, ONLY PM if it is absolutely important like you're-gonna-die-if-this-person-doesn't-help-you important. Got it? The reaction of some people will be VERY NICE for PM's about none sense and YOU cannot feel insulted if you get a rude response, you simply went looking for it.
I shall continue this post as I see things to be added, that is all, now go have fun reading, since that's where we learn all the basics before practice, you read read read, watch youtube videos of someone doing it. (There's a video of everything on youtube), then read read read some more, be sure and confident before attempting something you have no clue about, if you have NO clue about it, then why on earth are you about to do it? Don't be a noob, be a newb that's willing to be the next Recognized Dev/Contributor/Themer/Mod/Admin sometime in the future.
If you don't like what I have to say and think my point of view is somehwat "rude"?

To be fair, without the end user, your product is useless, but I get what you're saying.
Dark, I see your zeal, but it is time wasted. People do what they want regardless of what is said. Some of us fought the battle and got nowhere. I always like to see someone take up the mantle tho, keep it up
For everyone else, show some fkn courtesy and listen to what is being said. This isn't xda-babysitters! I'm out!

I agree. I made my Amaze toolkit for myself since I warrantied my phone in ever other day and wanted to make the process of rooting quick and easy. Then I shared it and made it better for myself.

I'm wondering what feedback you guys can provide on this phone. Right now I have the Evo 3D and i want to upgrade, but I don't know whether I should get this phone or the sgs3. Feedback is appreciated

Not to sound mean or anything, but if you take a look around the threads that have been posted to this board, you're going to find A LOT of feedback about what people have to say about their purchase.
You're in an EVO 4g LTE forum.. You should totally go against everyone on here and get an SIII.
Never understood asking on here. Read the forum, watch reviews, go play with it at the Sprint store. You have a brain, don't make us choose.
Here's a good analogy... Do you ask random people on the street how well some underwear may fit? Nope, I sure as hell wouldn't. You're best course of action is to try it for yourself. Now... That said, you can't test drive underwear and bring it back if you don't like it within 14 days (well, maybe you get that option with Wal-Mart). But you can go to a Sprint store, try the phone out, even buy it and return it in 14 days if you don't like it.
As the person above said, don't let others make the decision for you.

Ummm, your thread title states "Should I buy this phone?"
Please tell me how this isn't asking for help with your choice?
What I was simply stating is that there's no need to create another discussion thread asking if YOU should buy a specific phone. You should definitely go and check it out in a store, read reviews online, watch review videos on YouTube, and read through the existing threads in the EVO 4G LTE General board. There's no need to create another thread basically asking if you should buy the phone or not.

I really like this phone. I came from the EVO 3d as well and also had the OG EVO. I have to say that I am happy with ICS and sense 4.0. Now I am rooted running Rejuvenated ROM which is just a modified stock ROM and I am happier with stock modified than aroma installer and crazy roms from the 3D. My buddy has the SGIII and its a nice phone as well but I like Sense a little better and the feel of this phone. Its nice and solid and the screen looks crisp with the Super LCD. I hope that helps! Go to Sprint and get a hold of the phones and I think it will help you make your decision.

Thank you man, this is what I was wondering for. How's the battery life for ya?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Battery life is a huge improvement over any iteration of other evos and most phones period..the removable battery complaint is not an issue for me..unless it dies .then ill just get a new phone..the phone is everything you want it to be..but be warned multitasking is broken ..that is my only hatred for.this device..other than that the camera , screen speed etc are great and the build.quality is top of the line
Im loving the phone I would say yes over the S3. I seen the S3 at the store and it just didn't seem like that big of a upgrade. If u can do some trading ya but not enough to use $200 on. Also don't worry about others, some act like they invented cellphones and every thread posted in XDA they have to chime in and tell you you're wrong like they own this forum. Some take it personal if they don't like the thread. Hope you get a new Evo soon!

You can get feedback by reading threads. There's tons of threads with opinions, facts, specs, etc. There's no need to create another thread asking someone to give you direct feedback. Just seems pretty lazy. You'd rather read a thread you create that's not necessary, and hope someone actually feels like giving you their opinion, instead of just spending a little time reading one of the hundreds of threads about the EVO 4G LTE. This is literally the most useless type of thread to create...
Not to mention, I wasn't being hostile. I was giving you pointers on the best way to reach a decision. You're the one that wanted to respond back like you did:

Also on top of all the awesomeness that he brings with his helpful and often humorous responses, micmars also is a major contributor to many of the roms in this forum in multiple ways, including but not limited to supplying extra hosting space and any other support he can give.I truly believe he gives back to this community more than anyone could possible ask, and does more than even the best of devs for the community.
He makes this phone an exceptional experience for more people than anyone realizes.
I vote for an exception to be made to the 9 month rule.
Honestly a little tag by his name pales in comparison to the recognition he deserves nay, has earned, regardless of the amount of time he has been here.
Trust me you want @micmars around.
Every effort and exception should be made to gain and keep any user who has 1/10 his patience and ability/willingness to help others. Or honestly why are we doing this.
And if the cost is a little name change, to show that appreciation, how can you complain about that?
I know i have no real say or standing in the matter, though those are my feelings on it.
Once again and forever...
Thank you @micmars, for everything.
