You mean here on xda, or in general? Now that it has been out for more than a week I am seeing more activity. On Friday all the blogs figured out the 3.2 update was out, though I installed it last Saturday. I wonder if a lot of people were hoping to see a fire sale like with the HP.
I think its too early. Sony S is released only in some regions as of now, m waiting for its release in Singapore!!!
Too early to tell. I have one, and it came before the official release date. Put my review up and the number of hits has grown every day since. The other reviews out there are generally positive, so I imagine it'll just take users time to find the forums.
Its just too early to tell. Its only been out in the states since what the 16th or 17th of September. It will pick up, mainly just for the Playstation Certified, thats the main reason I picked it up.
Bought one myself, hoping the community picks up as you said. If only the Playstation Certified meant something, it might increase sales.
I just ordered one and will be joining the gang soon...
Its too pricey IMHO...any tablet that is not ipad needs to be in the $350-400 range if not lower to gain acceptance from the masses.
I got one at Fry's on Sunday, just set it up tonight, and really liking it so far... Thought it was kinda "meh" at first, but after an hour of playing around, I like it better than my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Feels faster & more responsive than any other Honeycomb tab I've tried before.
My favorite feature by far is the built in IR blaster. No one has that (yet)!
Just posted in the apps section that the Video Unlimited app now seems to do something, it will hopefully be a pretty cool addition when it is full of movies and not just 5 lame 99p rentals.

The Vizio 8" tablet also comes with an IR blaster and remote control app. Some companies have realized most people don't leave the house with tablets, and the most common place they are used is while on the sofa or lazy-boy while also watching TV. I just wish the remote control apps were macro-capable. So far none are.
the viso has, almost got it but luckily I found the STS
I have an Sony Tablet S (16gb version) brought it in November 2011, loved it since then, only wish there was more games that was compatible with this tablet, and im still waiting for oovoo to do another update so it can support this tablet!!
Hi xda-Members,
I have a simple question:
Is the Cube U9GT-2 compatible with CyanogenMod?
I've got Gingerbread on my tablet, but I'm not really satisfied with this OS, maybe because it's developed for smartphones and not tablets.
Greets Meldamos
Hi.
Unfortunately I cannot help with your question. All I know is that some people are experimentinig with ICS (Android 4.0) on the U9GT-2, and there is a beta firmware for it if you would like to give it a try.
I am also thinking of buying one of these tablets. I found it for 230 Euros (=290 USD, =190 GBP). I was just about to press the "Add to cart" button when I saw your post.
What do you thing about this tablet? Do you have it long? Are you happy?
Also can you please PM me with the information of where you bought it from and if you were happy with the transaction (if it was an online buy)?
Thanks
Little review of U9GT-2
Well I have this tablet for 2-3 Weeks now and I don't regret it. I bought this tablet over an online-shop called cect-shop, because the support is in german and it has a warranty of 1 year. And there it costs 200€ with 25€ express shipment (there in 3 days from china to germany ^^) and 25€ toll. All in all I paid around 250€, much cheaper than here in germany where it starts at 350€ up to 700€ and not almost on a level of the capacity this tablet has. By the way if you ask cect-shop, they'll send you a stylus pen with your tablet for free.
The tablet uses Android 2.3 with Honeycomb style, not bad but could be better. The OS seems not to be build for battery saving, because the power runs of after 2-3 days in standby.
I asked the manufacturer about ICS and got the answer that they're working on it, but still need time to finish the compatibility with U9GT-2. They'll publish it on their homepage I think.
On the look it get often mistaken with an Apple iPad but it's not exactly like one. The capacitive display works fine, it discerns up to 10 fingers but you are not using 10 finger actually ^^
The sound is pretty good I think, even if I don't really know how the standard quality of tablets are. The big trouble is like I said the OS. But it's a thing you can change and does not affect the quality of this tablet.
If anyone has precise questions feel free to ask. I'm not good at writing a review.
Thanks for the valuable info.
Few questions more if you are kind enough:
1. Can you confirm the manufacturer's site? I have found one web address in China and never managed to connect
2. Can you confirm the thickness of it? Is it realy less than 10mm? Does it actually feel like an i-pad when you are carrying it around?
3. The material on the back side is it realy aluminium?
4. I have noticed that on different sites they give slightly different specs from cect.Ie pandawill gives a CPU of 1Ghz, thickness of 7mm and battery capacity 8000mAh, though cect gives 1.2Ghz, 9.7mm and 7600MAh. This is a problem with the Chinese sites / products / clones I guess... Nevertheless, since you are in Germany, you must have heard or seen an Easypix Easypad, have you? I am between the cube and the Easypad 970 (at easypix.eu). They look very similar. Do you have any personal feedback on that ?
5. Finally, does the screen look and feel like being IPS or not?
Sorry if I bother you too much, but it's the first time I buy a gadget withut actually testing or seeing one, so I am a bit concerned. Thanks

Okay let's start:
1. Yes the manufacturer is available. There are also 2 supporter for questions available via skype. They're on workdays online so you can ask them directly. But there english seems not to be very good so better you keep your questions simple
2. I measured it now, I don't warrant than my results are exactly but they're 243mm x 190mm x 10,5mm (length x width x height). I have never had an iPad (too expensive for a tablet) but it feel very comfortable if I carry it around and it's not very heavy. I don't have a balance here but I think it's around 500-700 gram. Well it doesn't feel heavy for me that's all I can say actually.
3. YES it is aluminium and what a luck it is, because on the 3. day it got pushed against a aluminium pole and has only a really small dent left. A plastic hull would have cracked I think.
4. Don't look at the GHZ, many sellers push or fake them, maybe caused by stupidness or advertising. The U9GT-2 has a Rockchip 2918 CPU. Look for the specs on google. The battery is an advertising medium. I doesn't has 8000 mhA or even 7600 mhA. I has 2 x 4000 mhA batteries but they just sum them what they shouldn't do. Like I said the OS is not optimized for tablets and it really takes too much power in stand by. When playing you don't recognize the power loss. I played 3 hours a game called "deadly dungeon" (a dungeon crawler) and the battery has got from 63% to 49%. Well I've not saw the easypad, but they're exactly the same. They've got the same capacities and even the same OS. Throw a dice from 1-3 easypad and from 4-6 U9GT-2, that would be my solution ^^... Well I don't know if easypix is working on a ICS for easypad, just know that cube is working on it.
5. Well I don't know what you understand of a "feeling" for IPS. It looks like a monitor how you see it everywhere today. Don't know if you still have a cathode ray tube (I have one), but there is a difference. Of course, the games are sucking because they're not build for 9,7" displays . Some games are smoother with the resizing, others are bad. But the quality of the display is very good. Of course, not standard on notebooks over 15,6" (which I prefer) but for 9,7" it's high resolution.
Hope my answer could help you and other people who struggle on buying a china-tablet
PS: I've got many friends who look suspect at the tablet, like it could break every second, and I'm just smiling and laughing about their prejudices.
Fantastic answers.
Thank you very much for your effort.
I will follow your advice with the dice after the holidays
Happy Christmas

STOP!!! xD... Hope you did not buy it.
Forgot to mention that the EasyPad 970 can only use 8GB Flash HDD. U9GT-2 use 16GB! You get the double storage for the same price.
Sorry for my late answer, did not recognize the difference in the first place.
Sh*t. I bought one a few days ago
I generally know what NAND flash is, but not sure about its' importance. Mine still says 5.9 Gb free, after fully loaded with apps (I know they've got nothing to do with the NAND, but I can't seem to find a way how to run out of space in NAND). In any case, it is better to have double the capacity with the same cost, no matter what.
By the way, that NAND is some soldered microchip, or it can be a micro SD card on the motherboard so that it can "easily" be upgraded in the future if the need arises?
Nevertheless, I am happy with the tablet. Already rooted and experimenting. A couple of snags though, but I will find my way around them hopefully.
By the way, is there a way to hard - reset the tablet by hardware (since there is not a pin-hole or something)? Any combination of buttons pressed during power on?
The internal flash memory is installed in form of chips. Two in the Cube, as can be seen at tabletrepublic.com/forum/android-tablet-reviews/disassembling-cube-u9gt2-414.html, presumably one in the easypad. Apparently the 8GB of the easypad are partitioned in 0,5GB for apps and the rest for data while the 16GB in the Cube are partioned in 1GB for apps and the rest for data. I have read that by installing the cube firmware on the easypad 970, one can get 1 GB for apps, too. Personally, I think 8GB internally is plenty because media files (movies etc.) usually are stored on external SDHC cards anyway for fast swapping.
My 2 cents...
I recently bought one while I was in Beijing on holiday and was really amazed with the battery life with Android 2.3, considering I was streaming movies non-stop for 14 hours straight (in comparison with and iPad 2). The multi-touch keyboard sometimes has a lag although most the UI seems to be relatively smooth.
The camera located at the back also took decent pictures during day and night.
Overall this is a neat unit under $350.00 AUD considering most other units requiring a stylus or long fingernails to operate. I will be looking at rooting the device in a few weeks after I do a bit more research.
Let me know if you have modded your unit and your thoughts.
Thanks
Cube U9GT2 USB host controller issues
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping to solve a problem here, I just purchased a Cube U9GT2 Tablet 9.7
running: Android ICS 4.0.3 with a Kernel Version:3.0.8+.
With a build number: rk29sdk-eng4.03 IML74K eng-yangyun.20120108.124417 test-keys.
It came with an OTG/USB Cable and has both a USB and a USB/OTG port.
Let me just state this, I have tested all cables, ports and jump drives and have reformatted them to fat32, they were Fat32 also.
The problem I'm having is ICS can't see any jump drives I hook up to it. I installed a program from the Market called, USB Host Ctrlr. It ran a info check after install, and here is what it said:USB Host Controller Version Number:0.42 S3C USB Host Driver NOT Found! Root Hub Present. USB Host Mode is active.
I'm no developer or even a decent novas, but with decent instructions I can execute. Any ideas how to fix this, The price was Killer, when one is buying from a Chinese Company, the support is pretty limiting when you only speak English.
That's why the great price, I'm not complaining, I just want to get this resolved if possible.
In regards to the Tablet, I really like it a lot! pretty fast, smooth interface, easy to navigate, decent keyboard, (but I'm use to a smartphone).
It plays movies very nice, screen is plenty bright, It can use a Micro-sd card up to 32 gigs. Have not had any crashes yet, had it about 2 weeks. They have raised the prices about $13.00 I had to try one at that price, plus shipping was Free! I ordered it late on a Sunday night in USA, got it in 3 days DHL shipping, Hard to beat. Anyhow if anyone can help here, it sure be very appreciated. I would even be willing to pay something if reasonable.
If anyone is interested i can provide brand new AUTHENTIC CUBE U9GT2 at the price of euro 240.00.
The price include express shipping to all around the world (4-5 business days).
I am sending from European country so residents of EU will not pay additional taxes or VAT !!!

When the Q was first leaked during I/O, I remember thinking immediately that it looked awesome and that I would buy it, as long as it was around $150. Bear in mind this was before it was even apparent of what it actually did, there was just a leaked product image and the notion that it was a Nexus Device. I was dissapointed with the price at first, but can see that Google blew their budget on the design of the Q itself (just read the "Finish" description in the Play Store listing, it makes the device sound AWESOME). I have a couple of questions about the Google's decisions though and some insights on some early common questions I had as well.
First and foremost, my immediate response to the unveiling was the question "Why does it not run Google TV?". This took relatively little time to figure out though. Only days before they announced the new Sony Google TV at $200 and the even more affordable Vizio CoStar at $99. At $300, it was clear that this was not going to compete against them, cool design or not. They also were going for a different direction with this and I also believe they're putting Google TV on the back burner for now as their primary entry point into the living room. This device is obviously more reminiscent of the [email protected] showing that Google had at I/O last year, and is even strikingly similar to the Tungsten Speaker they had demoed last year, down to the LED lights, NFC pairing, and instant streaming from Google Music/What would become Play rather that streaming from the device itself. Also, the amount of testing that this device has been going through if you have been following Google Reports closely which desciribe a Bluetooth Internet connected device that was being tested in private through employees at home; you can tell that they are aiming for bigger things than Google TV with this. Personally, I'm glad as I never understood Google TV; I don't watch a lot of cable and an Android device mirrored on a TV would be more beneficial to me, as I only really want Chrome and Apps.
The second question I had came after I learned about the streamer from News sources, as I can't recall it was in the unveiling. The Nexus Q runs ICS, not Jelly Bean like the other Nexus devices. This puzzled me at first but makes sense when you understand that 4.1 really only brings graphical changes and graphical performance enhancements (seeroject Butter). The advantages of 4.1 would only come in once the Q gets a GUI, but I suppose that the gap less playback support would be useful as well. Either way, I also believe Google will update this device to 4.1 eventually for compatiblility as it is a Nexus after all.
Next, the hardware. I don't really understand why it is essentially the Galaxy Nexus under the hood rather than the Nexus 7. I guess cost would probably be the answer but isn't the Nvidia Kai platform the answer to that question? If they released it with Tegra 3, it would essentially be the Ouya "Elite" (a parallel to the Xbox 360 Elite, down to the black finish and premium features like 25w AMP). In some ways, this could be what Google had in mind when they packed it with 16GB of storage. My speculation is that the reason for this particular hardware is that it's cheaper for them to produce, as the Galaxy Nexus has been in production for so long now. The internal storage is probably because of this too.
The largest question is what Google wants this product to do exactly. Android Police had some interesting ideas that this could become your central [email protected] hub of sorts, and sync with all your other Android powered fixtures in the future (like the bulbs last year at I/O or an Android powered Nest like thermostat). The fact that it communicates directly with Google Play and doesn't rely on streaming also supports this idea, as it means that it is independent and can become the center of your future Android powered home. The superfluous ports and private testing, along with the advertised hackabity makes it seem like they are hoping for a Kinect like response from the Dev community, in which people will find out how to use it in interesting and unique ways. They most likely want to see what UI and applictions others come up with before revealing their own.
Lastly and this is something I've thought only recently is about the off-market price. The device isn't even released yet people are selling the I/O model on eBay for $229. This just speaks to the demand for this product I guess, but it means serious Devs who see potential in this device can pick it up for a relative bargain if they so desire.
So, what are your thoughts?

After waiting 6 months to get my Omate and with absolutely no support from them and a major crappy software I don't think I will invest one more dime in this company. Basically they used us to get money to create a watch that does not respect the promises they put on the kickstarter, and now they want to ask us to buy a second product that is suppose to be 10x better, come on Omate, you really think we are that stupid???
- No support
- Software is crap, dont even support syncro with your phone
- At start the watch was suppose to be way thinner, then they changed the design
- Was suppose to be water resistant, but if you insert a sim card or sd card then you lose water resistant feature
- Battery life is very bad, watch dont even last 1 day, and now they claim the new watch will keep up for a week, lol
- Laurent used our money to go around the world and have fun while we were waiting on update that was almost inexistant
In the end we paid for a product and got crap instead.
Good luck getting people to send you more money for dreams.

They should advertise on newspapers, because I don't see anyone who can use a search engine as a potential client.
I have been a mostly happy TS user for a while. But just recently I lost my charger, and Omate is just "sorry, we're not shipping chargers right now, we'll let you know".
So, as much as I have gotten used to wearing a smartwatch and I need/want to replace my now dead TS, I'd be very unlikely to spend more $$ on Omate until they start taking care of their user base first.
You can try making a charger with some spring pins and a stripped USB cable.

I prefer some software/firmware update for my TS, instead of buying another one.
I thought it was a joke at first. Speaking of jokes, did anyone who won the hackathon get their "individually numbered" VID watch yet, lol
Go and read those unhappy posts in KickAssStarter Forum.

Hi,
I'm confuse whether to buy or skip and wait for other smart watch. I'm interested with omate cause it come with sim slot any comment ;s
Well, you've got only one choice from the big OEMs...is the Gear S. Otherwise, there's the AI Watch which is expected to release soon. I say soon because they have delayed the launch a few times. But take a look:
www.aiwatchtech.com
Otherwise there are quite a few SZ (Chinese) watch's out there. Be careful, many of them are junk. I would stay away from the TS, there is NO developers supporting it at all.... and neither is Omate for that matter.

Not that I disagree with the above assessment, but I have now a used 1G/8G extreme version/US TS and I am pretty happy with it.
It is the only one I know of (including the Chinese copies out there) that offer it all: reasonable size with 3G/Wifi/bluetooth/gps AND full android, which I really like.Battery life is actually a bit better than expected (mine came with one of the ensec roms): I get easily 1 day.
I also own a Gear 2 (3 days of battery life; everything works well and less weight), which is a great little watch, but I hate being dependent on the companion phone (and even worse, it has to be one of the more recent Samsung ones: one reason why I never switched to iPhone/Apple).
Now, with the Omate TS you get something that works probably 95% of the time. If anything brakes, you are on your own though....no customer service, no replacement parts....so it all depends whether you are willing to take that risk....
On the positive side there is a lot to explore with the TS. I just installed Big Launcher (10$ on google play) and it works great (so far). Many apps that surprisingly work well on it. The freedom to get apps running from the Google Play store was one of my biggest incentives to try this little beast.
So far so good
Good luck!
PS: I am not 100% sure why Omate dropped development of this watch. They are now starting to advertise the Omate X, good looking, but not much different from all the many, many others out there (from companies with much bigger/well known names)....I would have sticked with the TS design idea and come out with a TS V2 (and continue to support TS V1 to not lose all the V1 customers!)....but that did not happen unfortunately....so this TS is my toy until one of the well reputed companies deliver something equivalent....(and not force you to their very confined infrastructure like Apple or Samsung)
I'm also happy with mine. I'm not happy with the company in general because of the no support thing, but luckily my watch works great (after installing the ensec rom). It's basically an android phone on your wrist..pretty damn cool.
It's a great phone in stand alone mode, but too much for me I wanted something less phone and more watch. I purchased the 1G/8G model.

TS is only workable WATCH SMART PHONE
Unfortunately, I think there is no US version available now! I bought one that seller claims as US version in Chinese TAOBAO, but it is not! I don't have 3G in US, only EDGE. It doesn't bother me too much because you don't have 4G in the last. Although it is not, the watch performance is damn good. The quality of the watch is not damn good but good. It is the best quality I can find in Chinese Market. BTW, the back cover in fact is plastic not metal.
TS is a WATCH, a SMART, a PHONE(WSP). If you need 3 things togehter, TS is the only option now or you need to wait for more than 2 years. I saw WSP in 2012, a Chinese toy named Z1 only work in Android 2.2, pretty slow and bulky. And you can see several advanced versions in KICKSTART recently. Only TS is released!
No need to wait if you have 300 bucks. Such toys will not last 2 years. You can not buy a life-long cellphone. Every 2 years, you always change your mind.

I love mines. Worth every penny.
So glad my Sansdisk HD Class 10 32 gig worked.
9 TS's later, and all have issues. 8 had serious mic issues (512/4, 1/8 US, 1/8 EU) making them useless as a phone. 1 had no mic issues but was completely lacking in seals. Funny part is the a number of the competing devices that somebody essentially called junk, have working companion apps, 4.4, less issues and better QC.
Sold all my 2 watches. No more product from Mr. Romantic Lepeng. I will not buy a single item from omate...
If the idea of having a phone stuffed into a watch is what you want and you can deal with the somewhat poor quality control, poor water resistance, and gaping security holes in the ROM, then the TrueSmart might be for you. Bear in mind that doing most tasks on a 1.5" screen requires patience. Right or wrong, there's a reason that phone sizes have been trending upwards and typing anything on a 1.5" screen is cumbersome.
If you want a companion device to display notifications on your wrist, go with something else like Android Wear. Personally I fall more into this category. I don't want a 1.5" screen running full Android. I don't want to answer phone calls on my wrist. I found the TS to be sluggish and difficult to use to the point that I chose not to use any watch at all versus using the TS.
I Think Dees summarizes it very well. Everyone on Kickstarter has been screwed by Omate in countless ways, but in the end some are still happy with their TrueSmart, for example for sports purposes.

What about the zgpax s5, s6 and s8, and what about the inwatch one & Z and the ec308/9 and the ec408/9 watches and the k8 watch?
Nobody has got standalones right yet. In many respects you are better off grabbing an LG GD910 or Samsung S9110 from 2009 and calling it a day.
i've been appealing to customer service at omate for months, no, over a year to have my truesmart repaired and received no response. the power button stopped functioning after about a month of ownership. which is weird because i never really used that button. no help. screw this company.
They have recently started another kickstarter for the new omate. Oh my God...Good luck to those who participate
.. and now we have the Omate Rise, with a 48 hour promotion on indigogo.
