Hello,
I have the 16gb Nook Tablet with the OEM wall charger and cable.
Doesn't charge properly when I'm using custom roms. Example...
While using the tablet with brightness max, wifi on, watching netflix with the charger connected, the battery will drain.
The charger feels cool. I normally charge it while the tablet is off and takes forever like if I'm charger with the USB cable only from computer. lol
I tested with stable CM10.1, CM10.2, nightlies CM11, few other roms..
So I flash back to 1.42 stock Nook, brightness max, wifi on, watching netflix with the charger connected and it charges fine and fast (normal).
Charger feels warm, as it should cause its charging.
What seems to be the problem?

there's your problem. also i think the CM ROMs take longer to charge than B&N firmware because they allow charging through other cables and can't really differentiate between a normal cable and a B&n cable because of that.
but lower your brightness.
also, battery drain for me seems to be an average of like 1% every few minutes. that's normal for this device.
I should say even with lowest brightness and wifi off, it will still slow drain. Even though the it shows that the tablet is charging.
I have found that charging works fine on stock Nook, and on custom Gingerbread roms like soft-mod ribbon rom & miui rom.
Looking for an ICS rom to try next...
So CM10+, CM11 seems to be thinking it's charging from USB port...
What gives?
CM9 ICS charging fine.
Odd...
So with any CM10.X during boot up on the cyanoboot screen, it says "charging disabled" in green text just under "battery level"
I think that's why I can't charge with it on. Found a few thread from people with the same problem but no solution.
Any ideas?

that doesn't actually mean anything. my tab charges and i've seen that screen in cyanoboot before. i think it uses the B&N charging status which does not like third party chargers

Doesn't charge during boot-up
Or while you are in recovery.
And are you doing this with the charger and cable that came with your Nook? Or are you trying to recharge by hooking it up to the USB port on your computer?
could be you need a new charger or cable. I got mine from Fry's Electronics. B&N doesn't seem to carry them anymore.
Also don't charge it with the device off. Do it in either standby mode or while you are doing something else. If you don't need the WiFi connection, shut it down.
How many apps do you have open? Close any you don't need. Any that are open use CPU and Memory time, which slows down recharging and also depletes the battery quicker.
I can't figure this out, baffling me.
I have the Nook Tablet 16Gb BNTV250 with OEM wall charger & USB cable.
On stock Nook & unofficial CM7's/CM9's roms, the OEM wall charger/cable works fine.
I can have max brightness, WiFi on, volume max, watching NetFlix with low battery and the charger will charge it pretty quick/normal.
Now if I'm on any CM10's rom, I can't charge the tablet while it's on.
It will show that it's charging but it will drain instead.
Doesn't matter if I turn off WiFi, lower the brightness.
It won't keep up and just slow drain battery.
Only way to charge it is to turn it off and it takes ALL night to get to full.
It feels like as if it's being charged by USB to PC, slow slow slow.
I know it's not the OEM wall charger and USB cable. As I've said, stock nook or CM7/9 charge fine.
I can't find anything on this problem...
So I tried again on CM10 rom, downloaded an app that would tell me how the tablet is being charged.
Apparently the tablet thinks its being charged from a USB port even though I'm on the wall charger.
Hence the slow drain. it can't keep up. So it takes all night to charge it with the tablet off.
But I still don't why and how to fix it. Stock Nook, CM7/CM9 didn't have this problem.

You may need a new data cable.
I've reflashed stock, CM7/9 and it charges normally.
So it's something with these CM10's...I can't figure it out!

Anyone using CM10+ with the Nook Tablet (not Nook Color)?
For those that are, are you able to charge it while it's on?
If you're able to, do you have to turn things like WiFi off and lower brightness to get it to charge so that it won't slow drain?
Or can you charge it/keep it full even with wifi on, max brightness & doing stuff?
So if you're able to, are you using the OEM wall charger and cable?

Charging takes place very slow for me. It takes about 8 hours using my mobile charger (not Nook charger). Charging with PC is even worse. I usually charge overnight. I don't use WiFi or high brightness usually while charging. If you use those, charging will take place even slower.

Looks like we're on the same boat, must be CM10+ thing...
I think I have the same problem but I usually don't even use my nook while its charging and it takes about 8-9 hours for it to charge. I lost my OEM cable. using cm10
Nook Tablet 16Gb BNTV250, OEM charger and cable. CM11 Snapshot M6. Ran CM10.x (various iterations) previously.
No charging issues under CM 10.x; charging seems slightly slower under CM11. For the massive improvement I got in performance, though, I'll take it.
I have the 16GB Nook Tablet. Running CM11M6 with stock kernel. I have no charging issues, I always charge it while it is on. It will typically do a full charge in just a few hours. A charge lasts many days for me, too. This little tablet runs 4.4.2 (CM11) beautifully.

do you have the OEM USB cable and power brick?
My nexus said it was charging when i went to bed but now it wont charge or connect to the computer? help would be appreciated
never mind i flashed fire-ice kernel instead of the elemental x, and it started working...
Funny you posted this...
I've not had problems with it charging or connecting to a computer.
Although, I've had problems getting the damn thing to charge while I'm using it.
Even with it plugged into a 2.1A charger it usually keeps the same charge or even drops 1-2% while playing a game or whatever.
If I keep it at idle or in sleep it charges no problem. Not sure what the problem Is, I mean if it's inputting 2.1A which is limited by the Kernel to 900mA (Why that is-- is stupid).
I'm assuming that the device uses somewhere at the ~1.2A under full load.
I had that same problem
I never had the not charging issue until today
For some reason my phone don't always use fast charging when I plug it in. Sometimes it will just say cable charging and takes couple hours to charge and some times it will say fast charge... Its really random.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Using the 2.0 amp charger included will fast charge your phone.

That's what I am using but still, it doesn't always fast charge and that's why I asked the question
Hmm....mine goes to fast charge as soon as I plug it in. Get gsam battery monitor, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm&hl=en
It has detailed charts on charging info. Maybe you can track down if there is a pattern.

check the battery setting! and try a different cable!
I know one issue was that using the included charger, if you dont make sure the cable is plugged all the way into it it will not fast charge. It will still do the cable charge, but if you plug it in just a bit harder it will switch to fast charge. Might check that.

User manual says:
Increasing the charging speed
To increase the charging speed, turn the device or its screen off when you charge the battery.
• While charging the battery when the device is turned off, the icon appears on the
screen.
• You cannot use the fast charging feature when the screen is turned on. Turn off the
screen to increase the charging speed.
• You can check the remaining charge time on the screen. The actual remaining time
may vary depending on the charging conditions.
• You cannot use the built-in fast charging feature when you charge the battery
using a standard battery charger.
• If the device heats up or the ambient air temperature rises, the charging speed may
decrease automatically. This is a normal operating condition to prevent damage to
the device.

yea I installed that too... but not sure if the info can help me figure out whats triggering the fast charging or not
If it's not related to what turt mentioned about temperature., I would consider getting it exchanged while it's early.
I got mine from best buy and they have 14 day exchange/return.
My battery temp has been max 94F.

what battery setting are you suggesting? and I can get the fast charging with the same cable... just not reliably thats why I am not sure if there is some conditions the phone needs to be in before it will happen

no... I dont think its temp related. Last night after 3 tries I can finally get it to fast charge and the trick I think is to get the screen off before plugging in the cable.
I wonder if the length of the USB connector has something to do with it too cause I bought a extra QC2.0 charger and I can get it to fast charge reliably everytime, but the QC 2.0 car charger doesnt work for me at all with the cable that came with it. I might need to try a different cable and see

THANK YOU! Top reply I was trying to work out why it wouldn't fast charge, even when using the supplied charger and cable, however I hadn't realised that I needed to push the USB A end (the bit the plugs into the charger) that extra bit - Fast Charge now working and return avoided!
my phone just started the same issue. till last night it was working perfectly fine but all of a sudden when I put my phone to charging this morning, it says cable charging instead of fast charging, I've tried different chargers as well but still no luck. I thought maybe it was a software issue so I should try a factory reset. In order to make backup, I tried connecting to my laptop but windows refused to detect my device and it says your device is not working properly. Anyhow I did a factory reset (loosing all my data) still it shows cable charging. Any idea what this problem is about?
Try plugging in while ur screen is off. It did the trick to mine
i was just about to post about this same problem, til i looked over, and my phone switched from "charging" to "fast charging" once my phone was over 15% in battery life. So thats what i think it is..... If you plug in with less than 15% battery life, it is not powerful enough to fast charge. Once it hits 15% it will be powerful enough to "fast charge". does this seem like a reasonable explanation, cuz thats all i got LOL
I've had the same issue on and off with my Edge+ and have realized there are 2 things that will help start fast charging. First is to close all open apps and notifications, second turn your screen off and wait a few seconds and plug in. Hopefully this will help
Never seen this before so thought I'd post and see if anyone else has this.
I work delivering groceries and they use iPhones for everything they do. They provide a chargers but since people are dishonest and steal them, the company buys more off brand chargers, the problem is they are el-cheapo chargers that only slow charge ie: trickle charge.
So I noticed this weekend my phone was draining battery while using google maps and GPS while plugged in. I found this quite odd because for near 2 yrs I've never had an issue while it's plugged in, it would hit 100% and stay there.
This time I noticed it was draining and also noticed a couple days after that, when I would plug in now, it told me it was charging, ie: slow charge and not the normal fast charging.
Even with my Anker charger in my car it did this.
Well last night I plugged into the iq side and it said charging, then I plugged into the 3.0 side and it then read fast charging.
Here's where it gets odd. Now that I have used the 3.0 side of the charger it reads fast charging, even using the iq side of the charger it reads fast charging, where just an hour before that same port was reading as just charging/slow charge, It's like the 3.0 kicked it out of slow charge mode or something.
So, that got me thinking...... Is it possible that a phone can get stuck in slow charge mode some how?
Has anyone else experienced this?
I now do not have an issue with it draining like before, so it has me wondering what's going on, why was it stuck in a seemingly slow charge only mode no matter what I did up until the 3.0 quick charge.

Right, this was an off brand I had used... Wasn't the typical iPhone charger, more a $1 cheapy charger, and most of those are 1.5 charging ports which is slow charge.
That's why I was wondering if using that some how the phone decided it was going to go into a slow charge mode only of some sort and got stuck there.
I need some newer Android (6.0+) rom that has fast charging working. I've tried Ressurection Remix Oreo, and Carbon Rom Oreo, but those rom doesn't seem to be able to take charge fast enough. I have the tablet hanging on my fridge to control Home Assistant, so the display is always on, and running that app, but even with a 2400 Mah charger plugged into it, it slowly drains the battery
Any recommendations ?
Okay something strange is happening and I'm wondering if other people have the same experience.. I'm currently trying out the AICP 14 rom, which also seems to have the above mentioned draining problem. What i've noticed is that the device seems to actually gain charge and rise in battery % if i use the device. But if i leave the tablet alone, while screen is kept on, its draining battery. Same charger and cable plugged in, in both scenarios. Whats up with that?
@Da9L
How do you charge your tablet? USB or dock?
At AICP-Rom fast charging works only over the USB connector (the first 20% slow and then fast).
If I look a film with connected charger the battery is charging. I use a Quick 3.0 charger.
At my tablet the battery is not draining.
Do you tried out the AICP 15 rom?
