My nexus said it was charging when i went to bed but now it wont charge or connect to the computer? help would be appreciated
never mind i flashed fire-ice kernel instead of the elemental x, and it started working...
Funny you posted this...
I've not had problems with it charging or connecting to a computer.
Although, I've had problems getting the damn thing to charge while I'm using it.
Even with it plugged into a 2.1A charger it usually keeps the same charge or even drops 1-2% while playing a game or whatever.
If I keep it at idle or in sleep it charges no problem. Not sure what the problem Is, I mean if it's inputting 2.1A which is limited by the Kernel to 900mA (Why that is-- is stupid).
I'm assuming that the device uses somewhere at the ~1.2A under full load.
I had that same problem
I never had the not charging issue until today

I noticed that my sync n charge retractable cable has stopped charging my BA because while it is connected, the power keeps dropping and on one occasion completely drained and switched while connected overnight. It can still sync though, and the charging light is on. While connected the power setting screen displays charging. What could be wrong? Do I need to get another sync/charge cable? It can still charge with a wall charger, though.
are there any programs running in your BA?
are the backlight set to the minimum?
how about your battery?
i've had an experience with a "kinda same" event like this.
with my old battery... im playing music while plugged in.
and it seems my battery is discharging more power while charging less. it couldnt compensate with the discharge so its climbing down slowly rather than charging up.
but.
when i replaced a new battery it didnt happen again...
i know it will occur again as my battery wears out.
where to buy?
yo silvah! can u buy usb sync-n-charge sa pinas?
just pmed you!
wow!
I know this is off topic but i gotta say it. Airfagev, pinoy community rules!! who started this site anyway?
Ever since I updated to 2.1 it seems that when my battery gets around 15% and I try to charge it via USB, nothing happens and the battery just drains even faster.
The only way to make it charge, is to switch of the device entirely and charge it while it's off.
Im not sure if anyone else has this problem?
I'm not entirely sure but I think that's a bug that has always existed on the X10 series, it has happened too me too in Donut
Yeah, I've seen this happen too. Turning the phone off and on again usually seems to make it charge properly
When charging via a laptop i've seen the charge go down when i've had the wireless on and been playing movies etc...
Possibly because the amount of charge than can be delivered via a usb (not connected to a plug) is very small
Same here. It happened to me in Donut and also now in Eclair. But in my home PC and Laptop it charges normaly but slow. But in my office PC it gets discharged. Is there anything with the PC too?
i did a bit of a quick test myself on this yesterday.
i plugged my phone into the usb and set it to the charge phone option, then closed all apps, turned off data connection and gps and left it with the screen off for 30 mins. after this time my batter had dropped by 2%. i unplugged the phone from the laptop and left it, again with the screen, data and 3g off and in 30 mins the charge dropped by just 1%.
there must be a bug with this in the system somewhere as this is soo annoying for me. i will try and turn the phone off and charge it later [when the battery dies after less than 8 hours with normal use] and see if that works.
got to say that i am very disappointed by this :-(
right for an update. i have just connected my phone to the wall charger, left the data connection and 3g on and left it charging for 30 mins. the result was an increase in charge of 17%!!!!!! thats more like it

The USB spec provides for 500mA of current at a USB port but it could drop to the lowest spec'd voltage while doing so, which could reduce the charging rate even more. If the USB port is actually a secondary port from an internal, self-powered hub, it might even limit the current to 100mA. It all depends, many USB implementations aren't known for following the spec's terribly well.
Some newer USB ports will comply with the latest spec's that allow higher charging currents (to 900 or even 1500mA).
Hi, the problem is sometimes when i plug my phone to the charger while im not using it, it starts charging backwards until its drained, i have to use it while charging for it to charge normally
Some other times i charge while using and it charges backwards so i.have to stop.using it for it to charge
And sometimes it charges normally, and its driving me crazy all that guessing how to charge
Im running the pre rooted rom from doomlord on an x10a, temperatures are normal(i think) like 45c is the highest ive seen while playing games and charging at the same time, temperature while charging is also normal i think( 33c if im not using)
Ive been running the rom for a while and only started to have this trouble since yesterday
Only thing different is that i switched carriers and now my phone is ALWAYS on H, never 3g even while not using it
Thanks and sorry for the LONG post

Bump, because i hate this bug
Is anyone else having charging issues? I'm having legitimate charging issues to the point where I've only been able to get a full charge once. The full charge may have been prior to root (I'll have to experiment more) but let's face it... This is a nexus. The majority of users are rooters and I haven't seen anyone else with this issue.
To preemptively answer a couple of questions; yes I am charging with the stock cable (and actually also a nexus charge cable from the play store which has slightly better amperage) and yes I am charging via an outlet (ac) as opposed to USB charging.
Also of significance, I am even powering the tablet down as to eliminate the possibility of a rogue process or wake lock consuming more battery than I'm providing. I'll literally plug the tab in at bedtime and wake up to see it at 27% where it was when I plugged it in.
I always confirm that it's charging either via the charge animation while powered off or the battery stats screen while powered on..
Somehow while I was using it, I managed to get it charged to about 57% and powered down and plugged in for the night. It was sadly in the same place in the am. We're talking 8-12 hours of confirmed charging and no gain.
So did I just get a faulty device? I'd blame it on the charger but I've tried two with the same results. I'm considering getting a replacement to see if I have different results. I worry I'll see the same thing.
Sounds like you may have a defective device. You've tried everything I'd recommend. I have the device and don't have your problem. So I don't think you'd have the same problem with a need device. There is a thread here were others have had charging difficulties

Never seen this before so thought I'd post and see if anyone else has this.
I work delivering groceries and they use iPhones for everything they do. They provide a chargers but since people are dishonest and steal them, the company buys more off brand chargers, the problem is they are el-cheapo chargers that only slow charge ie: trickle charge.
So I noticed this weekend my phone was draining battery while using google maps and GPS while plugged in. I found this quite odd because for near 2 yrs I've never had an issue while it's plugged in, it would hit 100% and stay there.
This time I noticed it was draining and also noticed a couple days after that, when I would plug in now, it told me it was charging, ie: slow charge and not the normal fast charging.
Even with my Anker charger in my car it did this.
Well last night I plugged into the iq side and it said charging, then I plugged into the 3.0 side and it then read fast charging.
Here's where it gets odd. Now that I have used the 3.0 side of the charger it reads fast charging, even using the iq side of the charger it reads fast charging, where just an hour before that same port was reading as just charging/slow charge, It's like the 3.0 kicked it out of slow charge mode or something.
So, that got me thinking...... Is it possible that a phone can get stuck in slow charge mode some how?
Has anyone else experienced this?
I now do not have an issue with it draining like before, so it has me wondering what's going on, why was it stuck in a seemingly slow charge only mode no matter what I did up until the 3.0 quick charge.

We have QuickCharge capability so no reason to use iPhone side of the charging port.

Right, this was an off brand I had used... Wasn't the typical iPhone charger, more a $1 cheapy charger, and most of those are 1.5 charging ports which is slow charge.
That's why I was wondering if using that some how the phone decided it was going to go into a slow charge mode only of some sort and got stuck there.
