Very slow charging i9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I woke up seeing my phone was at 58%, odd because I slept like 9 hours straight and my phone was charging during my sleep. So after I woke up I went downstairs, made some food, went back up to see my phone went down to 57% whilst charging.
So I've been doing some troubleshooting. I switched batteries, switched chargers etc. I also downloaded galaxy current charging and found out its only max 100ma, on all the 3 chargers I tried. Not sure if the usb port is jammed, always charged stable, and I can use it while charging without it charging on and off.
Using Archidroid 2.4.3. running boeffla kernel, I tried yank555 kernel too and problem persisted, didnt change any charging settings or something tho.
So how do I fix this?

Unplug charger from plug it again. I used Sony cable.?

The default charging rate is 1100mA so yours is definitely way too low. Flash boeffla kernel again and download boeffla config v2 from the play store. Then go to the miscellaneous tab (last tab) and change AC charge current to 1100 if it isn't already.
Hope this helps!

Just like the guy above, my friend had the same problems and asked me to fix it.
Downloaded Boeffla kernel and set everything up, works like a charm.
Only problem im having is that some chargers still dont seem to work, the phone just dont recognizes them while my Nexus 4 does!
Anyhow, sometimes the kernel settings seem to have reset and need to be set again.
Any chance you can help me out on this one?

Yeah i forgot to mention, i do use boeffla config app, but all the settings i apply seem to reset on a reboot, like some script is just returning everything to default.
Ive already made a comment on the original kernel thread, hoping for some answers there.
Thanks for your reply tho

Charging is very slowly
I had the same issue..
My I9305 is charging very slow but sometimes it charged very fast

[Q] Fuel gauge issues?

So ive seen time and time again that the fuel gauge can be a little wonky on this device, and forgive me if I overlooked it, but Ive never seen anyone post a fix. The issue Im having is that when the full charge notification sounds and I take my phone off the charger, its usually at 96% and I have to plug it back up about 6 more times after the full charge notification for it to read 100%. Ive tried charging it while the phone is off. And clearing battery stats even though I know that doesnt matter on the i777. Is there anyway to fix this?

I usually give mine premium gas so I don't have these issues.
Actually if you've recently flashed give battery a few days use to clear up.

I use the wall socket as well sir lol. I just dont know what else to do. Its been like 4 days since I flashed Illusion-xT with Siyah 2.6.9. What else could be causing this?
Some phones do not play well with siyah try flashing entropy kernel

Our fuel gauge doesn't require calibration, so no need to wait a few days. Sometimes it's just a little bit off, it's actually pretty common for it to drop to 99 or 98 after pulling a charger (especially if the battery was deeply discharged before charging on AC).
96 is a bit low though... I know gokhanmoral was screwing with charge termination recently. That might be the cause.
The only reason I flashed Siyah is that I didnt like Neo's tweaked version that is installed with Illusion-xT. Entropy, your kernel will work with his ROM? Im not using the I9100 Hellraise. Im using his I777 port.
It should work. Hellraiser originally started with a kernel and modem swap.
The other changes (audio libs, keymaps) have to be done regardless of kernel.
You can think of it as "pre-hellraised" with a different I777 kernel.
Awesome. So Im gonna flash your kernel and report back on how it works and if my fuel gauge quits being an ass.
Entropy, your kernel seems to help with battery more than Siyah did. However, did not resolve the fuel gauge problem. Full charge notification went off and when I pulled the charger it was 97. Even after plugging it back up twice it stayed at 97 after it was pulled.

HUge Battery Issue when using Wi-Fi

I am facing a big issue with charging. I have went through a lot of forums. Everywhere the suggestion was that a calibration of battery could fix my problem. I even tried that but still the problem is there.
This is what I am facing. Whenever I connect to wi-fi and browse using browser(I have tried many to see whether it's a problem related to browser) after some time my S2 switches OFF(my battery status at this time was 87%). When I try to restart the phone, it shows 1% chanrge left. So I connect and charge the batter again. But if I restart the phone again after two minutes of plugging to charge, then the battery status comes back almost back to the former(around 75-83%). Any idea why this is happening?
I tried re calibrating as suggested in one forum. This is what I did.
1) switched off teh phone
2) charge it to 100%
3) turned off
4) removed the battery
5) wait for 5 minutes
6) put the battery back on and switched on
Is this steps correct?

Well i will say try this software:
Battery Calibration on Google Play
Steps for that application are as follows:
1.Charge 100%
2.Open app and press calibrate
3. Unplug charger.
Now u may notice that it didnt worked much just after u calibrated it but what u should do is fully discharge it and then charge it back 100%. This time u will see the difference.

It seems like your battery is dead. Try to test with another battery before replacing yours.
No battery calibration app can help you. It has been confirmed by our devs.
Can you please share your configuration. It could be related to kernel.
Also it could also be that your phone's battery is dying

There is no back ground sync task in action in my phone. I have disabled them all.
Why should I change the modem? Is there any known issue with that?
Changing the modem won't do anything about battery drain while using WiFi as WiFi drivers are in the kernel. Changing modem might stuff your currently good call quality & good data speeds tho (in other words, don't touch your modem if your call quality/connectivity is good).
Edit - Don't bother trying to calibrate your battery either. Anyone who says a SGS2 battery can be calibrated is selling you **** & telling you it's haute cuisine.
Extra edit - Your battery is cactus. Buy a new one.

Thanks for the help. Found another issue or a modification for the above mentioned behavior.
After the S2 switches off, it now looks that I don't even have to charge the phone. The processor get heated up a bit(just leave it till it cools off). The batter comes back to 75% of what was the previous level. I am not yet convinced that it is a battery issue. Anyway will try to get a new one.

[Q] Phone getting Off

Am using more than 18 months old I9100.
My phone is getting turned off, while using. The last time when phone got off while battery was around 85%. When i try to turn it on it will display boot animation and turning off again. If I turn it on while connecting the charging it will turn on with out issues. It shows 56% of battery still remaining.
I forgot to tell one thing, If am using the phone just to make calls, or watch normal videos it will not turn off. Last time (to test this), I had Wifi, Gmail Sync, Facebook, Media Player and also was downloading temple run 2 from the market while the phone turned off.
Currently am using Wanamlite 14.0 [Philz 4.0], but this issue was there while using Wanamlite 13 and AllianceROM 5.2 [Dorimanx 7.38].
It started while i was using AllianceROM 5.2, earlier i have tried Wanamlite 13 and it was working fine, but when i tried the same ROm later that also have the issue.
Can you please suggest what should i do?
Try different battery.
Try different kernel.
You can make a trip to stockland to see if the issue persists.

tried different Kernels.
So i may need to buy a new battery . Should i go for normal 1650mAh or more powerful 1800mAh? what you think?
I had the same problem and even worse,,, the phone got off after 2 minutes in any app and 15 minutes of call.
one more thing that i noticed is that my battery was a little swolen.
so i bought a new battery (1650 mAh) and everything was great again.
i don't belive that all those 1800 mAh will give you more "juice" then the 1650 mAh OEM.
What about

Sgs3 charging problem (takes too long charging)

Hello.
Recently I started to have a weird problem with my Sgs3. It takes way too long to charge. And when I say too long is like, I go to bed at 1am with 9% battery and it charges all the night and at 8 am when I wake up was at 85%, just happened today these stats.
The problem I have noticed is, back when it has no problems charging it just goes into deep sleep to charge and usually was good in about 2 to 3 hours. Now, every time I charge my cell phone never goes to sleep, in the battery screen just appears it as active (with screen off) all night long when I plugged it into the charger. And there's the problem, some days it just charges normally and others I get this problem. Been trying to know if is something I do to make this problem but I just can't find it and I need help. I wiped dalvik cache, hard reset, everything and still the same.
I'm using última rom 9.0.1 (same problem with 10.1 and 11,I just like 9.0.1 better so I put it back) with siyah kernel oc 1.6ghz.
There's an screen of my battery. Notice its active with screen off and was charging ok, and suddenly just started to charge wayyyyy to slow, happening tons of time this.
I'm sorry if this is a duplicate post, I searched for a problem like mine and didn't founded, just ppl with no charges at all.
Thanks for your time in advance

As you've got Siyah, try setting the charge current up a notch.
CyanogenModded Very China-like, from my Samsung Galaxy S III
LG Familyguy59/Beatsleigher
looks stupid, but, samsung original cable seems to be bad for charging, the opposite, only samsung cables are good for data transfer, try to charge with another cable (I use a sony one) luck
In general it looks like indeed Samsung's cables aren't well-made and after some time they're losing some "power".
Luckily we have an international USB standard (micro usb?) for SGS3 so you can try really different chargers, from cameras, other phones, headphones etc.

Sometimes the issue is with the charging port also. Like, if I use a multi-plug or an extension board then my SGS3 also charges very slowly, even if there's no other device connected on multi-plug or extension board. You can still try Galaxy Charging Current app from Google Play Store and check your phone's charging current when you're charging your phone. It should be near 1000mA as that is the stock value.
Hit Thanks if I deserve it :good:
---------- Post added at 12:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:44 AM ----------
Also, it maybe possible that since you are on a custom rom and not all customs roms are stable. So, it might be possible that with your rom, there may be some bug which isn't letting your phone go to deep sleep mode properly when it's charging. Try reflashing stock rom & kernel to rule out software as your problem.

[Q] About battery drain

I've gotten a Galaxy S3 for 2 years now, and I've always flashed different roms as I wanted/needed. But now, my battery drain is enormous. Even when my smartphone is plugged in the charger, the battery goes down faster then it charges. Right now I use CM 11, ParanoidAndroid or Ressurection Remix, and I've got the same problem with all the three. And I've changed the kernel but I can't remember to which one, I had a problem with the IMEI and had to change to test the solutions. So, I would like to ask if you guys have the same problem and if you got a solution or same countermeasure to increase my battery life, if you know a better kernel or idk. (The most important thing I would like to solve is the charging one, I can't accept the battery charging less then consuming, and I don't even use it with the wi-fi on, but it continues that way.)
Thanks for everything!
Hope i help

Try to charge your phone with a different usb cable maybe thats the problem(i had broken usb cable and used to charge my phone to 100% for 6 hours). About the kernel try boeffla kernel or agni (choose the right one cause there are different ones for CM and stock rom) and choose a battery friendly governor
Yup I had same With some USB kabels its look that he dont give right V :good:
