Hey,
Sorry if this is a nooby question, im sure the answer is yes but I cant find a obvious answer...
When my phone gets back from repair im going to install the Energy ROM on it. However I havent backed up my contacts (needed to sort them out anyway) so I will get them from the people I actually speak to these days.
However, before I start adding them, does the ROM wipe them? As it will be a waste of time D:
Thanks.
I wouldnt hold out much hope of your contacts still being there when it gets back from repair...........
Chances are they're gonna hard reset or reflash your phone.........
I cant imagine they'll bother to back up and restore for you..............
To answer your question though........ yes a flash will wipe everything.... except sim and sd cards.....(which you should remove while flashing, just in case)
Yeah they said they would wipe it... I could do with a clean fresh set of my contacts now anyway
Hmm, need to back them up but Active Sync just fails for me

I would reccomend "myphone" from the marketplace.......
Syncs contacts, calendar, texts, photos, tones etc all to "the cloud"
Takes 2 mins to send em up and when you want em back takes 2 mins to bring em back down..........
you can get it free from the marketplace.......

before you even try activesync for the first time, go settings - menu - all settings - connections - usb to pc and turn off 'enable faster data'
Syncing never works for me with that turned on, and if you try to sync before you turn it off and it fails, and then you turn it off, it still wont sync till you reboot the phone and the computer.
Almost ashamed to bring this in, but I am flashing ROMs rather often, and I am using a "trick" which I am not quite sure if it safe to do.
Just copy the file "pim.vol" from the very root folder of your device to a safe place on the storage card. After flashing or somehow getting a new ROM, copy that file back at the mentioned location. Do a soft reset, and your contacts and calendar should be back. Like I said, I am not sure if this is safe to do, but for me it worked dozens of times.
Don't blame me if it fails for you! Needless to say that you must not do such kind of actions without having a backup.
Everytime my phone is rebooted or crashes after days of use without reboot, some apps for sure will be removed randomly. Specially new ones. Apps which hav been there for long stays.
IM+ lite is a must to be removed everytime.
Recently zedge which has been there for long time just got removed.
Android seems like a mess, apps which get removed, their data stays, n I manually uninstall all of them, n then do a corps cleanup with sd maid. Bt after a reboot, all of the data comes back n I have to uninstall them again.
Its being a very big problem. I cant restart my phone without loosing some apps n data. Please help. I hope ICS has a better app structure, n im willing to do a fresh start there... But I must be able to transfer my "EasyMoney" data to the new rom. It has all my money tranctions.
Plz help, thanks alot...

Reads as its wiping them from the sd card .
Android seems like a mess,
More like your phone not Android as this is not a normal problem .
I would backup all data apps etc .
Factory reset the phone and try
This reads like a corrupt sd card or similar .
After that who knows what your phone firmware is
original firmware return to Samsung service .
Rooted firmware try
....................................
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero .
Return to service centre .

I just rooted my phone using CF-Root. Because its closest to stock. Did nothing else.
Will a factory reset remove root?
Does anyone know if ICS for samsung gs2 is releases or not?
Thanks...

No its embedded in the kernel if its a kernel root .

Think if you read the ten million posts on ICS is released you will have a better idea .

Thanks alot... I used to think after installing SPB Shell 3D and using lucky patcher to patch SPB, caused the problem to start. But I just removed SPB and installed Launcher Pro, and similar probles still exist. Spb nor launcher pro starts properly, have to keep force closing after startup. So am using TouchWiz (hate it)... The problem feels like its related to my SD Card... Maybe I installed too many apps to SD. Currently have about 310 apps all together... So ill just backup my easymoney app data n few sms, pics, musiz etc n just do a factory reset n install SPB...lets see what happens...
Thanks alot...

hey guys,
My questions is regarding the fast/auto app install on titanium backup, some time ago after flashing a new ROM the Hypershell stopped working, i change ROM quite abit and cant remember which rom (if it was a rom that caused it) it was when the problem started, no matter what i do or which rom i put on my phone i still get the "Fast/Auto app install, NO(Hypershell needed)".
I have unistalled/reinstalled Titanium Backup app, the TB Pro key, Superuser app, Busybox, done wipes, flashed new and different roms but it is always the same, i assumed if i was missing something, a new rom with full wipe would sort it , but i'm obviously wrong, i am obviously missing something but i dont know what, if any of you guys could help it would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Come on someone must have an answer for me.
i had the same problem with another app,
you can check to another sd card ,partition the card ,install the rom ,and install the app,if it work then you must copy your filew of your basic card to the pc,format your card ,partition your card with the "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition",paste your files and thats it .
i hope to work it,
it 's work to me
For anyone suffering from this issue and finding this thread, I'd figured out what to do (once ensuring I have the Pro Key installed properly) go into TB's "Menu->Preferences->App processing mode" and (re-)select "Auto, Direct". Then restart TB, and you're all set!
I think that what happened is I'd tried running TB w/o the ProKey installed and it reset that setting. Since TB saves to your SD Card, it doesn't usually get wiped on a reset, so it'd picked up the old, non-ProKey setting (my TB said "Hypershell YES" and "Fast App install NO (need Hypershell)".

Thank you very much man. it really helped me.
I could not get into that ">App processing mode" setting so I uninstalled the pro key and then reinstalled. TiBu force closed but when I reopened it I had Fast/Auto enabled again.
Hi. I cannot find App Processing Mode in preferences. Do I need the PRO version for Titanium Backup to work properly?
Thank you,

Hello guys,
I need little help. I have rooted my phone as per instructions on youtube and upgraded to 4.2.2. but due to some reasons the OS keeps crashing on me. Also when i run root checker it says root access denied.
Now, I wish to factory reset the phone so that i can try rooting it again. Can anyone tell me how to do factory reset using CWM and will it wipe google play and stuff? I am ok with loosing data on SD card, its just songs and videos.
Pls help guys.

Bro, u need not factory reset your phone in order to root it. And if its saying root access is denied it means your phone is not rooted. U haven't mentioned if you have already installed CWM or you still need to install it, but if you already have, then doing a factory reset is very easy. Switch off your phone and go into recovery mode(power+ volume down button together for 10 secs), then it opens into recovery, u have directly select factory reset and press yes when asked for confirmation. It will reset your phone.
And if you do factory reset you won't lose any data from your SD card. It will be retained in their respective memories, unless specifically formatted.
You will lose all your downloaded applications and everything. You need to login into play store and download all the stuff again. If that's OK with you you can go ahead. If you want to save your applications and their data, then it would be good to use Titanium Backup application and backup everything before you reset your phone.
Hope this helped you. Don't forget to hit thanks

its for rooting, you just have to run a batch file.
Bro...if you factory reset, yes indeed all your applications will be reset to default. You won't lose Google play store. Its an application which comes in any android stock rom by default. What you are going to lose are the applications and games which you have downloaded from the playstore.
Hence in my previous reply I suggested to you to get Titanium Backup app from play store and take a batch backup of all your apps. Then you can reset your phone without any worries!
Hope this solves your issue. Happy to help

Hello mate,
i tried titanium backup but it wont work on my phone...kept saying it needs a rooted phone to work. anyways i am least concerned with the downloaded data from play...its imp apps like google play, radio and other such apps that i am concern with it...
Hello.
Today I decided that I should upgrade my phone and move to Cyanogenmod 11.
So I downloaded everything, followed every step, made a backup with Titanium Backup, and upgraded.
With (almost) no problems, my phone booted with Cyanogenmod.
At first, everything went smooth, I put all my stuff back in the memory while I sit back and enjoy the speed.
But then everything went bad. I found out all my contacts are gone, all my photos are gone, all of my songs are gone, the home button doesn't work, I opened Nova Launcher and suddenly the lockscreen has been disabled.
I can't close apps because the home button doesn't work. The button on the upper left on the notification center doesn't work (although it worked at first), I don't even get notifications.
There is no physical problem with the home button. When the phone is locked, I press the home button and it wakes it up, but it does nothing besides that.
I also can't access my Contacts app, I need to open the Phone app and access them through there.
Also– I can't receive any calls. It seems the phone knows a call has been made, but it sends the caller straight to voice mail and I need to check the missing calls to see if anybody called.
If it helps, whenever I boot the phone there's a tiny exclamation mark on the top left.
Please help.
Well don't know what the problem is but seems like you are running out of RAM... I personally didn't had any problem with any aosp ROM be it cm11 or omni...
Try flashing it again and flash it clean that is do a factory reset then wipe system, preload, cache, dalvik cache..and then install it...
Also avoid using art as your runtime as it may be the culprit...

I doubt it's about the RAM, I never had any problems with it, and I clean it regularly.
I will try to flash it again, but I try to back my things up, and instead of backing up only the user apps (107) Titanium Backup backs up about 321 files, which I think means it backs up also the System stuff.
What do you mean by "avoid using art as your runtime"?
EDIT: I flashed the ROM again, and everything works fine. But before I bring all of my stuff back through Titanium Backup, I need to be sure: What does grey apps with cross line on them means? Because I don't want to screw up my phone again...

The apps which are crossed are not installed in your device...avoid the ones which are colored as these are the apps from your previous system which must have been backed up by titanium backup...dont restore them..just go in the tab which says restore missing apps with data..the first one in the restore section..it contains all your user apps with their data backed up..
although cm thread says that they dont support the use of titanium or restoring your data...
so i also restore those apps for which data is always necessary like games...it us a little cumbersome but ya thats the way to go for better experience...

Okay so I restored all of my apps, some info is missing but that's fine. Just a small problem– Slow charging. The battery take AGES to charge and the percents goes down if I use the phone while charging.
Suggestions?

Yes it was. The charging time changed only after flashing to CM.
The usb cable is not the problem, I tried 2 USB and one charger, the charging remains the same.
