n900p red x no signal fix
n900p red x no signal fix
got it fixed, even though supersu disabled knox, there was still a security issue. I used titanium backup and searched for knox. then I disabled everything that had to do with knox, instantantly t-mobile pop up.

Let's figure out how to update the baseband on this phone

Well, I know you've all been waiting for the MJ4 update, and I have all the system files ready to go. However, the baseband refuses to update past MI3 for me. Nothing i've done gets this thing updated past MI3. I had it at MI5 at one point, but in an attempt to get the MJ4 update before someone passed it along to me, I Odined back to MI3 and now have the stupid message about roll-out updates exceeding.
Basically, anyone with any sort of knowledge in this please chime in with suggestions, ideas, whatever!
I know a few of you have had trouble getting past MI3 yourself with my firmware update. My phone updated fine with it in the beginning, but now it won't. I'm assuming samsung has some security checks in place that reverts any changes unless they're official?
I have tried the following:
-dd from a friend's phone who has MI5. No luck, mine is still at MI3.
-created a flashable zip from the update.zip MJ4 OTA. System files get updated fine, but baseband remains at MI3.
-created a flashable zip with just the modem/apnhlos updates. No luck, still remains at MI3.
-created a odin tar with MI5 modem/apnhlos from a friend's phone. No luck, ODIN refuses to flash it.
-tried flashing the official MI5 update from MI3 with stock recovery. No luck, signature verification error.
-tried flashing the official MJ4 update from MI3 with stock recovery. Obviously no luck, signature verification error, and i'm on an older MI3.
-tried creating an all in one flashable from MI3 all the way up to MI4. Works in custom recovery, however, baseband remains at MI3.
-tried dd aboot, rpm, tz, sbl1, sdi, manually from adb, then applying MI5 update, then MJ4. No luck, baseband remains at MI3
It looks as though if you haven't been officially updated, it refuses to update any of the core firmware.
I'm pretty stumped and annoyed at Samsung for their HTC-style crap they're pulling on us. This may be my last Samsung phone.
If anyone has any ideas or would like to test things please feel free to reply back with suggestions or whatever.
How can the signature verification be fixed

Well I wonder if we can get it to work through kies.
It seems to me this was something we had to do at one point with the epic 4G the one with the slide case.

That's a good question, because i'm applying the untouched update.zip and it still says signature verification failed.

Probably, but kies keeps telling me that firmware initialization isn't available for my phone
The problem isn't how to update officially, it's how to apply baseband updates for rooted people, which is looking very hard or impossible to do.
It's like .....if you're rooted, you can't get anything. We can keep updating the android system just fine, but any firmware or baseband updates absolutely refuse to apply. I'm guessing a firmware update is what solved the audio popping problems too. Maybe a android system update did, but who knows.
When I tried to update through the stock recovery it said the signature verification failed but the update finished. But in the phone nothing changes at all. That's kinda strange I've never seen that before, it either does the update , or it fails.

well what im thinking right off the bat is to modify the actual kies program itself so that we could get it to recognize the firmware we want to update to as the one it finds. if you could get me the extracted files I can see what I can come up with.

the original update.zip or the updated MJ4 android system files?
The other option would be to make a modified odin.
I'm not knowledgeable but got a question. Can you Odin back to stock mi5 or mi3 via the official stock stuff?
Also you obviously are knox tripped maybe that USA the problem?

you can but it seems that once you have rooted it does not want to upgrade the baseband unless you are unmodified.

what we need to see is exactly how odin and or kies is communicating with that part of the device and modify it to do it differently.

Yeah that would be an option, if someone can create one with all the necessary files (not just a system image, but recovery, modem, etc) Because the official updates won't apply if you have mixed firmwares. So if a modified odin image were created, it would have to contain all the MI5 firmware as well.

You can definitely odin back to MI3. I don't think there is an Odin MI5 around. The problem is, since Samsung is rolling out these updates in stages, probably to avoid server load, people will be stuck on MI3 until they allow more updates. You'll get the error message about roll-out updates exceeding.

I'll upload them in a sec. It'll be like 1.3gb so it may take me around 30 minutes to upload. Also, I don't have the official MJ4 kernel either. I don't know how to properly extract the update.zip. It was created in a way that doesn't allow traditional extraction. If you repair it with winrar, it treats the boot.img as a corrupted file and excludes it from the rebuilt zip file.

The update.zip that freeza posted didn't work at all even though I'm not rooted either. Like stated before it gave me the signature verification failed and it went through with the update. But nothing in the system changed not the build number nor the baseband nor anything at all. I'm not trying to sound like an a.. but I just want to explain as clearly as I can.

By unmodified do you mean custom status or knox tripped . Only reason I ask is cause I was on mi5 not rooted Samsung strsight. I flashed mi3 stock and rooted via the deja (whatever the no knox trip method is called) faked system status normal with wanam and than took the ota (again straight sammy) to Mi5 and re rooted via deja again.
Now on MI5 rooted BUT I can no longer fake normal status with wanam.

Claims he flashed back to Mi5 straight sammy and now has normal status again and is on mi5.. not positive if his baseband upgraded don't know if he checked. I believe at this point he is waiting for the ota to stop saying max upgrades .. but we are not knox tripped and so far we have made it to Mi5 rooted normal status no knox trip. . Unmodified meaning custom status. Knox trip as far as i know won't have an affect on your ability to receive updates, BUT now that you mention it, maybe it has an affect on you being able to manually update your baseband. I was only able to do it one time with a flashable zip, and I am not sure if i were knox tripped or not, but i sure am now.
Whoever you can think of, we could definitely use their help!

If Knox isn't the reason we can't update then why do we get the error about being "modified" Knox causes that right?

Before the update came out my phone was saying i was modified when i have not done ANYTHING to my phone yet. I told my brother n he told me to take the SD card out because Samsung has a weird bug with SD cards that if u have too many files or something it'll say ur modified. Idk but after i did that i got the exceeded error..... Also if u just clean up ur SD card it'll work too. He actually sent this

she (sorry )may be thinking of me. I'm out at cota today doing formula 1 stuff so will be a little bit before I can help. But I can say...
Was able to go from mi3 to mi5 (baseband included) using DeLaVega root and wanam. But then had to do some messing to get mi5 to show official.
Alternatively was also able to get official with wanam on mi5 by using the DeLaVega script and wanam on the official mi5 firmware also.
In both cases baseband was changed.when going back to MI3 and forward to mi5.both cases root still worked. Knox still 0x0
Of course no matter which method i try I still get update exceeded and am waiting for mj4.
I do have a few more ideas for you guys but need some time in front of a pc.to be sure. And a copy of the update to verify.
I'll set aside some time this evening.

Very new to root on vzw s4 mdk w/ twrp

I recently bought my rooted s4 mdk, came with Hyperdrive v10.2 rom. I done some tweaking from within the rom: font, center clock, icon changer ect.. . I've done a little modification such as getting dark dialer & sms, dark horse inverted g: mail, store, music. I did try flashing modem (to nc2 only to have slight heart attack seeing baseband not on mdk) then flash back to mdk. Only after reading thru the whole thread(vzw s4 forums) and flashing the zips that other Mdk users verified working.
I've read how lucky I am to be on mdk with twrp. Also seen post where people mentioning bricking there mdk, but didn't say how they did it.
I want to learn about what I can and can't do.
Like:
is there other compatible roms from other device makers : htc, moto that work on the s4 ? Understanding kernels , how to remove the ringtones from in the system (I tried delete -says deleted but it doesn't . General system knowledge. I guess in other words an Experienced person to take me under there wing and help guide me .
So coming from a unrooted thunderbolt (I would like to root the TB cuz I use it for home phone using viop app) I'm really liking being rooted with the no ads, wifi hotspot ect... and having the unlimited data plan I had to buy out of contract to upgrade. I'm glad I did some reading here to make sure I got unlocked bootloader model so it took me a few times and weeks to get winning bid. Which is okay but yesterday I came across swappa in forum rules and think my next phone shall come from there .

Well a couple tips... Grab Flashify from play store and update your TWRP. There's an easy option to update your recovery and it'll flash it for you.
As far as everything else...
Just look for Roms that are specifically for Jfltevzw or JFLTE.
Kernels will be the same.
You can look in our Verizon Android Development and Original development. Also you can look in other carriers forums like TMobile or Sprint for Roms.
Aosp Roms give you more freedom when looking in other carriers threads since they are all mostly unified now and under the name JFLTE.
Tw Roms you may need compatibility packs if your flashing ones from other carriers or the i9505 S4.

Boost mobile on newest NH7 4.4.4 with mja modem NO GO

If you have a note 3 flashed to boost mobile forget about using it on 4.4.4 and beyond updates unless you have a super imei. As a lot of yous know you can't use it on NC5 without a MJA or older modem to get signal. But that's not even possible now on NH7 once you flash the older modem (in my case MJA) when it boosts to home screen it freezes and reboots and yes its possible to go to NC5 after going to NH7. If you can get me a super imei please message me thanks.

I don't think that'll help it's the modem that locks down the signal when the meid has been altered it won't match with something in the modem and that's when it locks the signal until it's bank to its original state.

Have you tried the nc5 engineering bootloader with your 4.4.4 setup and mja modem?
Sounds worth a try.
Modems are tied to bootloaders now. The same thing happens on the S3..if you try to use an older modem on their latest bootloader it bricks and that is ON Sprint.
Now discussion of IMEI changing is not allowed on this site so I have to close this. Sorry.

Yes, I tried it already and I get no network either.
When I try going into More Networks and Mobile Networks
a popup tells me "please insert sim card".
Do you think the reason for this is that my N910T is not yet
network unlocked?
I have to wait 2 more weeks for Tmobile to give me the unlock
code even though I paid cash for the phone.
If it's not just a sim unlock issue is there any work around for this
network issue?
Thanks!
Custom Kernel?
Maybe test TMO ROM + n910w8 Kernel?
That should work.

There's only 2 so far i think
Starkissed and AEL.
Ael is in the intl forum but works perfectly.

From scratch, installed TMO, used AEL kernel and replaced telephonycommon.jar, everything looks good.
Awesome ROM thanks!

You only need to flash a custom kernel to use tmo.
.for intl you need telephonycommon.jar

[Q] Update from stock rooted to DOB1?

Hello all,
I have been looking for a little while and can't seem to find anything.
How can I go about upgrading my stock s5 that is towel rooted on the last update knox 0 to DOB1 without triggering Knox?
I have read that I can't use Mobile odin and firmware/radio from regular odin anymore.
Is that right?
There isn't a way yet.
I'm still trying a few things, but with little success.
Anyone else found a way let us know please.

I haven't tried yet but wondering if anyone else has.
I was just looking and it might be possible to flash a rom that uses aroma with mobile Odin to update the rom, keep root, and not trip Knox.
Has anyone tried that yet?
Looks like it worked for the g900f
