please help me guys dont know what to do now to update my device from ICS to Jellybean heres my sreenshots>>>>
Same as everyone else with Odin problems; Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General, find it & try as many of the troubleshooting steps as many times as you need to in order to get a successful flash.
There's nothing which isn't in the thread that can be suggested in these situations, it is 'the Bible for these situations. You may need to persevere (I.E keep at it, don't post here' Saying I've tried a few of the thing in the thread it won't work blah blah blah blah') as it sometimes takes a number of flashes or to actually try everything in the thread a number of times.
So...You now have the tools to get this done, the rest is up to you.

Right, might be wrong section, and completely sure this has been asked somewhere.
I am very keen, I just dont know where to start.
My 10.1v just decided to start screwing around. It is like it is frozen? With the screen off. Yet I can hear emails being received. And when I put it on charge, the screen goes on, yet it is in a frozen state (time stays the same) I have rebooted it a view times, no joy. So my idea is to wipe the thing, and reload the software. what does it entail? where do I start? I see all these terms, but not sure what they mean?
Please assist if I'm in the right section?
Cheers!
You're in the wrong section. This is for DEVELOPMENT only. Your post should go in the Q&A.
I'd say you can start by reading the sticky posts in the 10.1(v) dev forum.
Basic steps are:
1. Unlock the bootloader (read sticky carefully)
2. Root your device (read sticky carefully)
3. Install a ROM (verify partition and CWM)
mate check out this thread, make sure you have proper drivers in place and kies installed

good luck

Depends if you prefer a custom or a stock ROM, Custom ROM's usually have major custom changes, but the stock, yeah plain as ice.
I don't know if he want's to root it or if he has, since warranty get's void that way.
Hello community,
First of all, please don't kill me, start saying I didn't read or search, etc etc etc.
Yes, there are several threads about this, but still nothing has worked as yet. My phone is still on Factory Mode with a Generic IMEI
The history:
1) Phone was under KOR CSC, so I changed it to BTU. Then, I updated to the most recent ROM (4.1.2) from a past 4.0.X
2) Although factory unlocked, it started asking for sim unlock.
3) I went back to a previous ROM (4.0.X) without reading the EFS problem and without making EFS backup.
4) Phone started showing the generic IMEI and factory mode.
5) Flashed again the most recent ROM. Still same IMEI and factory mode.
6) Tried all the fixes I could find around here and other websites and nothing (Copying and replacing EFS contents via different methods, modifying factorymode file via different methods, flashing and re-flashing, rooting and re-rooting, etc). No luck at all!!!
In summary, I ran out of threads to read and still nothing works. I'm tired and desperate. Could you please help a noob, step by step, and see what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Flash the latest BTU official rom using odin then factory reset. If that doesn't enable your efs to be read then you will have to pay for a repair, there is no software fix for a corrupt efs.
Reset flash counter flash stock firmware and visit service center

My thread in general > sticky roll-up thread has all the steps you need to follow, including sending it for repair. I wrote the thread to prevent all these millions of duplicate threads. Sorry, but there was really no need for this thread. Always read the sticky guides first

Thanks, for your answer and your useful sticky thread, I have always gone there first. BUT as I said in my original post, I did read and try all of that.
I was just wondering if there was something else to do by myself, before sending to a service repair center (I'm in Trinidad and Tobago and didn't buy the device here, so the chance of getting a reliable service center is slim)
Anyway, thanks everyone for replying!
Cheers,
C.S.
Not really anything else to try really
Hello everyone,
I did the same mistake again by updating my S2 from GingerBread to IceCreamSandwitch without calibrating the horizontal accelerometere, and now my phone sensor is a bit off "to the left"
(when i play games like " Trial ", the phone is supposed to be in the "normal" position so the rider should not move at all but in my case he is always going back {like am rotating the phone to the left} so i have to rotate the phone about 15 degrees to the right in order to be "normal" )
Unless you have a better solution for this problem cause seriously, why on earth there is only a gyroscope calibration for a device that have more than that sensor >_< !??!
anyway
i would really appreciate if your link me to all the necessary files to downgrade from ICS to GB,
IMPORTANT:
i don't want to root my phone cause i will update to official ICS again
SOLVED
i just need the PDA file which i found my model here : http://www.androidfirmwares.net/
thank you
Maybe post in the dedicated forum for that device lol
You mean you did the same thing on your S2 as you did on your S Advance 6 weeks ago ? If so, go get the rom files you need from Samfirmware, flash with Odin following instructions in thread stickied near top of Q&A titled 'Flash Stock firmware'.
If you're still talking about your S Advance then yeah, you're obviously in the wrong place.

yes that's exactly what happened (am with S2 now) and i actually tried both Samsung-updates and samfirmwares but the search results contain Roms for 4.1.2, 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 i might be searching in the wrong place though so i would really appreciate it if you post a link for me
thank you very much
If you can't find GB firmware at those two places, you can try AndroidFirmwares.net, but they probably won't have what you want either. If they don't, you're probably SOOL; try Google searches or use something else (or do a bunch of XDA searches, you might get lucky & someone might have uploaded it somewhere & linked to it in a thread way back).
Edit - You need to use the pulldown boxes @ Samfirmware better, there's plenty of GB firmwares available. If there isn't one for your country/carrier, you're going to have to use something else.

thanx man i'll keep looking, but just a question, is it really impossible to recalibrate the accelerometer on Android 4.1.2 ?
i am 100% sure that it's not a hardware problem so why there is no way to fix that
No idea, never had a problem with it myself. Hopper8 had issues with it maybe 12 mths ago & searched high/low for a solution went really 'in depth' with it. Maybe search for his threads on that issue/from about that time.

Thank you, i checked that but it seems that he is facing problem with the gyroscope mine is an accelerometer problem (i make casual mobile games for a living and i made a little accelerometer test, it is simple 18 degree "wrong" to the left)
anyway,
i found this website : AndroidFirmwares.net - News and am downloading this firmware the bad news is that i have no idea where to find the .pit file, cause as i remember with my S-Advance (and my old S too) i need a pit file to use with Odin right ? and it's always a very small size,
any help with that please ?
Don't touch a PIT file unless:-
A) You have a specific reason to.
B) You know what you're doing.
I've seen literally hundreds (and no doubt there has been many more I haven't seen) of people flashing PIT files when they absolutely didn't need to brick their phones on here over the past 2 & a bit yrs (almost always a case like yours of simply needing to flash a one part stock firmware to fix, but people have to over-complicate things).
Neither A nor B applies to you, so don't do it. If you think what I've said is overkill, I'm merely trying to save you from having to throw your phone in the bin.

Thank you,
so following what you said, i only need to select the downloaded firmware from the PDA button and press start ?
Remark :
i tried that and i got this error :
"Can't open the serial(COM) port."
Since kies is completely closed and am 100% that i have the USB direver installed (phone detected and i've done that before)
i am going to assume that my cable or my ports are the cause of the problem, if you have a better suggestion please illuminate me, otherwise i'll try with different cable/PC tonight and keep you updated, lastly i REALLY hope that an expert android developer or maybe someone that can spread this problem for more people cause it is VERY annoying to have to do this for such a minor problem just because the OS developers have forgot or didn't want to allow us to adjust all the phone sensors ...
Note that after this downgrade, i will have to upgrade again and restore all my previous data, setting, apps again... and that is a real painful waste of time >_< !!!
Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in the General section has all the info/stuff you need to try in order to get a successful flash.

Thank you very much, changing the cable solved this, the phone is back to stock again :victory:
just in case someone face this,
i got a SplashScreen loop (my SplashScreen is changed from TIM {italian operator} to the default samsung wich is another victory for me :highfive: )
anyway,
that was simply solved by booting into recovery mode and wipe all data
Edit :
Samsung Kies doesn't detect new update anymore, i think that is because i only used PDA in Odine ?
i'll have to update with Odine again (it take less time than kies anyway)
Hi all,
I tried to charge my GS2S and it went dead. Well, almost.
It's stuck on the welcome screen. Won't go to Recovery Mode, but still goes to Download Mode.
I've followed the instructions on TheAndroidSoul about how to install the CWM Recovery for this phone (can't post a link it seems) but got a "failed" result. I've tried three times at least and I get "failed" again and again.
Any idea what could be wrong and how do I get around it?
Thanks in advance!
Get stock firmware for country/carrier from Samfirmware (not 4.0.4 if you intend to root your phone in the future), flash with Odin in download mode. How ? Thread stickied near top of Q&A titled 'Flash stock firmware' has instructions. Problems with Odin flash ? Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General section has all the info you need to get a successful Odin flash & a 'clean slate'.
As to how instructions on another site will/won't work, no idea & won't be looking at those.. Not interested in what's on other sites given most of the info found on them has probably been posted here in the first instance anyway. You don't need other sites when you have a resource like this one at your disposal.
Once you're back at stock, you can then re-root your phone & flash whatever custom rom/kernel you want again (maybe not do that until you're totally comfortable with whatever process you need to use first).
Duplicate ...go here ...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2676381
My phone won't go passed the 'Samsung' black screen. I have tried flashing a stock rom with Odin. I have tried using emergency recovery in KIES but the phone is not being picked up by it. I flashed and rooted the phone to unlock the SIM yesterday and everything was fine until I hard reset it (instead of factory resetting it by accident) because I plan to sell it to a friend on a different network.
I've been at this for nearly 20 hours now following numerous different tutorials and I have no idea what to do now. I am new to this kind of thing but I think I'm definitely out of my depth here. I can still get the phone into download mode so I know it's salvageable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General, 3 part firmware linked to in thread, download, flash with Odin (this will wipe your phone). Failure to flash ? Go through the troubleshooting steps in the thread over & over & over (if necessary; all of them, including multiple PC's, if you don't fix it with the info in that thread, you won't be fixing it).
There's no easy fix here; if it's recoverable (and most of these are), they're fixed with perseverance. Those which aren't recoverable are NAND corrupted & require a motherboard replacement to fix.
Edit - Also, I presume we're talking about an I9100 ? If you have any other model, do not flash that 3 part firmware I referred to above, you will brick your phone if you have another device & you flash it.

Wow, thank you for such a quick response! Yes it is an I9100. I should have been clearer. I'll give that a shot before I try anything else then. Thanks again.
