External Sd not showing up in CWM - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello again everyone, I have a 4gig sd card that I use with my s2 i9100, but for some reason Philz touch CWM recovery doesn't detect it. Now this happened before and I just formatted it via the storage settings on the phone, I then successfully did a nandroid backup to it. A few days later I planned on installing cm, so in preparation for that i decided to test out that backup just in case. But now the Sd card doesn't show up when I press restore and I cant mount it
.
Things Iv tried:
formatting it via storage settings (what worked last time)
formatting it using windows
doing the above again but this time dragging the copy of the sd card I made prior to the first attempt at formatting onto it
Edit: now the backup on my internal sd has gone missing, really confused about this one)
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not comfortable flashing without having a backup on the external sd

[SOLVED] Problems with SD card

Recently (a few hours ago) I bought a new SD memory card to upgrade. Since I used Adfad's N2 Cyanogen mod, I partitioned my old SD card (2GB), and created 512MB ext3 partition to expand my phones storage. Also I use s2e for App2sd. I backed everything up in clockwork recovery (5.0.2.0), i turned the phone down, took out old card, and inserted a new one (8GB). Booted into recovery and partitioned SD card, but this time I created an 1GB ext3 partition. Turned the phone off, copied data from old card to new one, on laptop, via card reader. Returned it to phone, booted into recovery, restored backups, successfully, and booted the phone. Phone now recognizes new card, but can't mount sd-ext partition. I can't access to most of my apps, I presume that those are the ones which were on sd-ext partition, like market, superuser and many others. Installed the s2e, but it doesn't recognize sd-ext partition. Is there any way to fix this? I'm clueless . I tried the old card, everything works. Any type of help will be appreciated. Is there any way to transfer data from one card to another via PC? Including ext3 and linux-swap partitons?
Since there were no answer, I did a clean reinstall and backup with titanium. It looks like there is on easier way to switch SD cards.

[Q] Damaged SD card

Hi.
I've had several tries formatting and installing ARHD30.1 restoring my previous using NAND backup, until I finally managed to install ARHD30.1 correctly.
But since then, I have a notification, every several hours, of 'Damaged SD card'.
Does it refer the internal SD card or my external SD card? through the files manager I can access both my internal and external SD cards.
How do you suggest to check if it is a ROM issue or a real card issue?
Should I try installing ARHD22.4 or restore my NAND backup again, to see if the issue continues, or is there any other, simple way to check it?
Thanks in advance.
AW: [Q] Damaged SD card
This refers to your external card. You might install a stock firmware to see if the error still prevails.
Just for information purposes: Did you try to perform a full wipe? Remember to backup your whole data and apps before..
|| Typed with my S4 Octa-Beast or my Note 10.1 ||
I did a full wipe, with full format of system/cache/data/sdcard/preload (I removed my external SD card before all that)
any ideas, again, before doing all that again?
Have you got your external sd backed up? I'd so then reformat it in the phone

[Q] Installed rom without external SD card and now I need help

Hey guys I'm a noob here, which I'm sure you would have figured out later on as you read on. I use and LG G2X and i thought that today I would put a new rom onto it. I have been contemplating for a while and I really regret my decision. I didn't use an external SD card. I created a clockwork backup but since it isn't on the external SD I can't access it any of the files to return it to what it was. I tried my phone into my computer but it doesn't recognize my phone. I also can't use my camera because it tells me to insert an sd card. Is there any way I can mount my internal storage and trick the phone into thinking it is the external SD so i can at least just reset it? I would wipe the internal storage, which I'm not even sure will solve the problem, but that would remove all of my backup data from clockwork backup. Can somebody please help me in recovering the backup data so i can just reset the phone back to the horrid 2.3.4?
Also, I am running Eaglesblood ICS 4.0.3

[Q] My SD card UNMOUNTS itself

Hy all,
My microSD card doesn't mount. I go to storage - mount SD, it checks for errors in the notification bar for a few seconds and then says SD card safe to remove, like it mounted and unmounted itself. I take it out and put it in my laptop and it works OK. I use the Kingston 16GB class 10.
How i got the problem !
I wanted to make a clean ICS CWM backup and upload it in the nandroid theme [cuz I saw there wasn't a working link for my phone - p768 ICS and I wanted to contribute ] , so I boot in CWM, realise the MD5 error in my ICS backup - take out the extternal SD card and delete the content of MD5 on my laptop, boot again in CWM, then I remember I had taken some important pics that day and i wasn't sure if they would be deleted so I go to mounts, mount my SD card and external SD (I believe here to be the reason for the problem) use adb pull to copy pics and then finally restore my backup and wipe data/cache. Next time i boot up i get the problem described above
So how to make it work again ? I tried booting in CWM again and mounting it but the same ting happens.
Maybe formatting it would solve it, as it works on my winxp laptop, but I should say that i never format the card (its about 2 months old) because I had some bad experience with my USB flash drives and a SD card dying when i needed them + I red that class 10 cards should not be formatted because of some small partition that rules the performance and something... so which program should i use if i ever wanted to format my card and which file system to choose ?
EDIT Formated it with the official format found found at www sdcard org, nothing same problem
I'm thinking of flashing the KDZ

[Q] Error mounting externalSD on CWM on SGSIII (i9300)

Hi,
Three weeks ago I had my SGSIII rooted and with a custom ROM and regular backup in the external SD card and everything was working OK.
I wanted to remove all the information form the internal memory and decided to format the internal memory, so using CWM (6.0.4.7) I made all the wipes and formatted:
/system
/cache
/preload
/data
I think that one of those formats was the source of the error, but I don't know which one!
Afterwards I tried to access the externalSD card from the restore menu to restore one of my NAND backups, but the extrenalSD card was not accessible (E: Can't mount /storage/sdcard1) neither from the install zip menu (same error). the SD card was OK because was workable in another phone. I tried to mount the external SD card from the mounts and storage menu but gave an error (Error mounting /storage/sdcard1!)
Since I could not restore my NAND backups, I restored the stock ROM (JB 4.3) using odin and afterwards I rooted the phone and install again CWM (6.0.4.7) but the problem persisted and now I am using the stock ROM and can access the external SD card from android normally.
I have looked about this error and all the cases I have found are using older versions of CWM and recommend to format the external SD card, so I did, but the problem persisted.
So my questions are:
- What have I done wrong?
- How can I fix it?
Afterwards I thought that I could copy the NAND backup from the external SD to the internal memory so I made NAND backup to see where it was stored, but using ultra explorer I cannot find the location (furthermore, according to the DiskUsage App the space is used but does not inform me where it is).
I have asked Google for the location of the backups in the internal memory (I can not recall such locations) but the folders did not exist or where empty. So:
- Is it possible to copy a backup from the external SD card into the internal memory?
- How can it be done?
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the lengthy post.
