Hello Amazing Amaze Owners.
I just flashed Faux123 kernel. And after flashing, screen brightness was unusual. Well, I may go with that.
Kernel definitely let me overclock, but I couldn't Undervolt my Amaze. I opened SetCpu and there is no voltage option. I read somewhere that if kernel supports undervolting, it will be there. I'm sure faux kernel supports undervolting, but no such option in SetCpu.
I there a problem with SetCpu or with kernel?!
And I know kernel is about preference, but I want your opinions about kernels. Which kernels are better and why?
Thanks In Advance.

I appreciate the work being done on o/c kernals, but coming from Droid X, there where some great o/c apps that where easy to use, and could change voltages on the fly, making it easy to get the most out of a stable o/c. Will there be such a thing for the TB?
Setcpu.
Coming from droid2 I know what you mean, but we didn't have a custom kernel so were had workarounds. Which is why you had to change once already booted. Not sure if this can be done on tb.
I assume its probably better to havea custom kernel than setting after boot.

I have setcpu, but that doesnt allow for overclocking, just clocking down from whatever the max of the kernal is. And AFAIK you cant change the voltage, but maybe Im mistaken about that.
I really like Quickclock advance, you could change voltage by % tailoring it to your exact cpu.

Um, sure it does... Assuming that you have an overclocked kernel loaded (the stock kernel is not overclockable), setCPU can control the overclocking of said kernel.
you need an overclocked kernel before you can use set cpu to overclock

Set CPU allows you to overclock if your kernel supports it. When you open SetCPU and then select "Autodetect", what it does is check which speeds the kernel supports and lets you pick that from the list.
I can't talk for everyone but a LOT of people (including me) use SetCPU to overclock.
You said you came from the Droid X, the kernel was not able to be changed out because of the locked bootloader, if I'm correct. That's where Quickclock advance came in, it was made to overclock the stock kernel.
On the Thunderbolt you can change the kernel with an overclocked one and use SetCPU.
I realize setcpu can overclock up to the max allowed by the kernal, what Im saying is an app that allows to go beyond that, and manipulate the voltage. I am running at 1.2GHz right now, it runs up to 1.5 fine, except when I get a call it will reboot. If I had a little leeway on voltage, maybe I could get it stable at 1.5.
It would be easier to just o/c in app, then try this kernal, change, dont like, the try another kernal....
No point to use a work around when we can use the real thing.
I don't consider myself a noob when it comes to flashing ROMs, I've been using xRecovery and Flashtool for some time now.
I have looked around XDA but can't find anything relating to my problem, if I have missed it please tell me and close this thread.
I have unlocked my bootloader using the_lasers SEMC CMD, I've flashed Doomlord's v5 Kernel and before that v4 with overclock but every time I try to overclock my X10 I get a WLOD?
Yes I know there was a warning in Doom's thread that the kernel my not work on all X10's but the warning stated that the device may not boot, no mention of WLOD?
I have tried both SetCPU and CPU Master to overclock but this always happens.
Is it me, am I doing something wrong? Making a noob mistake?
Or is this my X10 and a compatibility issue with Doom's kernel?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for looking, JayJ.
EDIT- Just to add I'm currently using Wolf's TW v5c but have also tried this on Z's CM7 with Doom's kernel.
Had no problems overclocking with the zKernel!

Yes, overclocking can cause WLOD's. Either because your chip-set can't handle high frequencies or too much/not enough voltage is being supplied.
I, having quite a new x10 can handle overclock quite well. However, due to the default voltages that Doom has set in his kernel, my phone does tend to lag at high frequencies. I fixed this by modifying the init.d file that controls the voltages and set the high frequency voltages slightly higher.
What you could try, is download an app called "Incredicontrol" and experiment. Fist set the high frequency (MHz +) voltages up by 0.0025 each. Reboot, overclock a little, test, if it needs more, do it again, but be careful. Increasing the voltage by too much will most likely cook your CPU and render your phone useless. In other words, be gentle. Also try reducing the voltage to see if that works.
If that doesn't work, you most likely have the temperamental chip-set of death which is practically incapable of performing as a phone should.
Hope you can find something that works for you.
Thanks for the great reply, very informative and helpful. Appreciated!
My X10 is quite old now, I've had it pretty much since release. Also I always thought my CPU may have had issues because my CPU regularly maxes out and freezes the phone up, not so much since 2.3 but was a nightmare on1.6 & 2.1.

Yes and no, the overclock itself can't cause wlod as far as I know, but what can cause it:
Fast overheat due to high temperatures, clock too high + voltage too high + high external or high battery temperature.
Defects on the processor.
The thing is, if you are on Doom's kernel and yet you can't overclock it past 1ghz try increasing the voltage a bit up to 25mv or 50mv on each freq at a time until you reach the correct freq/voltage.
At start my phone couldn't handle 1228 now it can using correct voltage settings(1400mv in my case)

Hi all
Can someone quickly tell me if theres any undervolted kernels or ROMS for the Lg optimus one p500?
Thanks
ask manufacturers of cores, they need to know for sure, sorry for my English
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468792
That kernel is supposedly undervolted. Haven't tested it though.
Also, I'm pretty sure other kernel devs used to say undervolting on our device wasn't feasible, so use at your own risk
Is there a version of this kernel without the OC? What I'm really interrested in is the BLN support. Most of the other roms that have it have so much other junk in them, they don't interest me. This one seems very slim and to the point, but I have no need to overclock and further drain my battery.
Or in this version, can I simply "not" overclock and it's just an option?

Overclocking is just an option.
Yes, you can set the cpu to do whatever you want. Max and min and decide on what governor you want. Setcpu is what most use I think. I use system tuner pro.
Excellent. Thanks to you both. I'll give it a go.
If you look in development on the end posts of the collective rom thread there is a post with the bln fix you can flash over your stock root to take care of that. I would post it here but my note won't let me upload files here.

Hello, I'm have a GT-P7510 running Task's ICS, kernel 3.1.10 (stock one i think, no other kernels have been flashed)
I was playing Mass Effect Infiltrator (yes, we can play it even though Play store says it isnt compatible) and find that it lags like hell at the final boss (runs smoothly before that though). I also install the Mass Effect live wallpaper and find that it kinda laggy. In addition to some minor lags with TW, I decided to OC it. I'm a noob and I think I might wanna find some info about this issue first before frying or bricking my tab.
So, can I OC it with this kernel? If not, what other kernel can I flash? If so, is there a free app to OC? How can I set the specs with that app (for best experience)? I find myself confused when I hear about "undervoltage" somewhere. Can it help me save my battery? The battery in sleep mode is kinda good though, 0-1% loss when left overnight.
And final question, does OC-ing eat up my battery???
Can you OC with what kernel? You didn't mention the kernel you flashed to overclock.
Clock speed can be changed with Antutu CPU Master.
Overclocking will "eat" your battery if you go high. 1200 or 1400 Mhz should be fine.
I didn't flash any kernel. The 3.1.10 kernel came with the rom.

You have to flash a custom kernel to overclock. Check the development section.
from what i read, there are yoda and A1, which one is better, and more stable? oh and do you know what keyboard out there is best? SwiftKey is good but auto correct is so damn annoying.
