I was previously using CM 7.2 and when i switched to stock rom, i Backed up my Contacts,Messages using TB.But when i tried to restore data on stock Rom it doesnt work.. Pls help..
Cm 7.2 and stock use different core apps.
System app data is also not backwards compatible.
For example, you can use TB to import your contacts from CM7.2 to CM9.1 but you can't do the same the other way round. I learnt it the hard way...

Simply do a backup in xRecovery of any system you want to restrore back leter. Apps will be backuped fine. Contacts and t.msgs will be lost if you won't sync them via google profile.

Hey Guys,
I recently flashed Dagr8's Hybridity rom based on AOKP and it is great. I had his Hybrid rom running before and loved it but I wanted to try jellybean and test out google now. Anyway the only problem I'm having with the rom is that I can't get all of my contacts to restore properly. I backed them up using super backup and all of the contacts show up in the file and will restore on ICS but not Jelly Bean. I am missing about 80 of them and they happen to be people I contact frequently. I have tried importing the contacts from the .vcf file directly with the built in contacts app and restoring with super backup but I can't seem to get all the contacts back. Anyone have any suggestions? I feel like a noob but I have tried everything I can think of and nothing gets them all back. If any of you have any suggestions I would be really happy.
Cheers...

I always use titanium, it also restores the pictures with high quality.
You can try wiping your contact cache and reboot . Also go into setting and see what accounts it has under "show"
I think that's what it says

no.. I do know not to back up files... always reinstall normally.. just standard titanium back doesn't restore from ICS to JB... I didn't realise it till after I installed JB... anyway now I have backed up in sooo many ways (including xml) one is bound to work (I hope:silly
use the contact app to export a. vcf file and import it later. worked for me when I switched from my htc vision to the i9300

I'll try that.. thanks...
heads up, I backed up with kies, titanium standard and xml... non work... for reasons better known to titanium it won't recognise the xml files..
so reinstall ics and start again :s
(I've never exported to vcf.. is it a simple process?)
................
also my sms/mms messages...
it's really simple.
you go to you contacts app, tap menu, export, choose location. done
to bring it back in, yoi do the same thing but use import.
Edit: as for text, I used titanium backup to export xml. not sure why it didn't work for you though. try again maybe?

extracting the contacts to vcf is one sure way where why do you not sync them with your Google account? After the JB update you can sync back to your phone.
If you do not want Google to have your contacts I guess vcf export or xml would be the easiest way.

To backup SMS/MMS, you can use SMS Backup/Restore app by Ritesh Sahu. Ensure you set external SDCard as the backup location.
I would suggest synchronizing your contacts with Google so that you can have your contacts intact even if you have to change phones.

Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.
Try go to Contants in ICS and export to sdcard.
Transfer the sdcard to new phone (JB) and go contact and import from sdcard!!
All contact should migrate!! :highfive:
I wish I would have read this thread before my migration from ICS to JB. I somehow trusted that I would be sorted by using Titanium Backup but far from it. I am now restoring back to ICS in order to get my contact data back. I will use the advice given in this thread so a big thumbs up for everyone who contributed.
Hello everyone,I want to upgrade CM 10.1 but is it possible to back up my all apps or everything in phone now. After I jump CM I want to use my phone like previous. As short as I dont want to loose my info.Thanks.
Titanium backup for your apps and data, sms backup for your texts. Sync contacts to google, call log, there's an app for that as well but can't remeber the name.
Stuff on the external sd can be left as it is, make sure you back up any photos etc from your internal sd.
Wipe everything when you're installing cm and everything should be there

the thing is, she wants me to keep CONTACTS as they are, this means, their contacts have Adresses and emails included..
what I want to know is if I can make backup w/ KIES befor root the sgsII and after rooting and install Custom ROM I'll be able to restore everything as she wants?
regards m8s
Why not backup the numbers to her google account? Then you can restore them real easy.

backu up with kies is enough...i've backed up all contacts via kies when the first time i root my sgs2
If you use a aosp, aokp or cm rom, then Kies will not work.

No you can't use Kies to restore anything.
Backing up your data with google or samsung is easiest way. Go through Settings>Accounts>Google/Samsung then sync all the stuff you wanna keep safe. You can restore it after you install(flash) your new ROM.
You can also export it to sd card.
You can install mobile backup II from market. It will backup sms & call log also along with contacts. Once you flash your new ROM you'll have to install this app again and you can restore all the data.
Don't forget to do a nandroid backup before you flash new ROM.
Best of luck.
Ummm....you got titanium back up pro and a couple of contacts and sms back up apps at play store....now, why don't you save all the .vcf to dropbox or wherever?

I would suggest some other rom than RR 3.1.3 if your GF is not a dev or experienced android tweaker. From my opinion it's just not ready for daily use. I had to tweak quite a bit and I'm still not satisfied. Issues with memory, GPS, camera, flash, BT etc. It will be a great rom and I'm waiting for updates. I repeat, this is just my opinion and I'm not a dev, I may have done something wrong or misunderstood some part.
