THESE ARE RUMORS I really didn't think this would happen but it is however a crucial step in order to keep their market share and (ultimatively) improve it. Time will tell.
I think we, LG G2 owners, are guaranteed an Android 5.0 update!

Ran across this image and wanted to share it with you guys . This is an ETA time sheet for the EMUI 3.0 update across Huawei devices and the american version of the Ascend Mate 2 4g (MT2-L03) is nowhere to be found . Though the other HAM2 models overseas are in the update plans . Sad to hear we are probably not likely going to get an update !
If this turns out to be true, this will likely be the last Huawei device I ever buy. They were 2 versions behind when they released it. A good custom rom will satisfy me though.
All the 3 MT2 listed in the chart are Chinese varies. But I agree Huawei has put MT2 to lower priority already. So hopefully they didn't list L03 just because that list is for domestic customers.

Yea, this could be true (Was thinking that myself) . Time will tell , hopefully we see an update before new years on our HAM2.

Agree! They are pushing very hard at promoting the HAM2 here in the US and I doubt that they would neglect any future OS updates as this is critical if they want to gain ground here in America . I'm sure they will , though they don't make those decisions here , their team in China does . That's why when people ask of they are gonna push an update they never give a concrete answer , just the typical " The HAM2 is upgradable and we will give out details when , if , it gets updated "
Not that big of a deal. Would it be nice? Yeah, but for my use, 4.3 is stable, runs everything I use.
If they did release 4.4, you know it would have some glitches out of the gate, which I would prefer not to
have. My Note1, which was replaced by the Mate2, I never got an "official" update past 4.1.2, and the custom
roms had some problems here or there. 4.1.2 was super stable.
I'll take an older stable version, over the new OS any day.
This could be the update to prepare for kit kat

Thanks for the info, not sure this 20MB update requires unroot or not. hope not.
KitKat coming this November?
I came across an update schedule a while back browsing hauweinews dot com. Look for "EMUI 3.0 Release Schedule Announced."
HAM2 is supposed to get the EMUI 3.0 update this November.
The November release date is only currently confirmed for MT2-C00, MT2-L01,MT2-L02 and MT2-L05 I'm afraid. Rom will be available in November for these devices and OTA update will come in December.
Yea , like the previous post stated , only the Asian variants of the Mate2 have been confirmed . No word on our MT2-L03 yet . Happy that they will address low light photography with the update coming out on the 8th of this month though .. And other small fixes
I don't really care if we get EMUI 3.0. I just want KitKat with a newer version of EMUI to be able to access all the awesome themes. But EMUI 3.0 would obviously be cool Lol

That's not strictly true as I'm on kitkat 4.4.2 with EMUI 2.3
I'm confident the US Mate2 is going to get the update. This is the only nice phone they have in America with LTE and its the only phone they are promoting on www.gethuawei.com. As a general marketing rule its going to be forced to be updated. The new Huawei Models coming out still does not have US LTE (idots). The phone is now coming out in Frys Electronics and It is now also being sold on ConsumerCellular. The more people keep buying this phone the better support we will get. HuaweiUSA is trying to stay here so a simple email to [email protected] telling them to give u kitkat updated wount hurt either.

According to the faq in one of the Huawei pages KitKat is coming to mt2l03 but they dont commit to any date :/

Well, look at it this way, upgrading from like OS to like OS (4.3, 4.3, 4.3.x) isn't that big of a deal usually.
Updating from a .3 to a .4, JB>KK, may bring with it a whole host of issues.
I'd rather they give the update to the Chinese version, work out the kinks, BEFORE bring it it to the LTE version.
Better user experience.

There are 5 carrier versions of the Chinese Mate 2, they are ALL LTE apart from the MT2-C00.
I am yet to find any kinks in KK.
No fc's, lags or anything else, it's been a rock solid experience so far. Hopefully you will get it soon. :good:

Perhaps, but, it's not a "game changer" for me. I don't really expect "significant" updates for devices from carriers or
manufacturers, save for Apple, because, if you think about it, it sort of goes against their business model. If a huge update
is pushed out, there is no incentive to buy a new device. Right now, the stock OS on the (U.S.) Mate2 is about one of the
most stable that I have come across.

True, the Mate 2 is running well, but I own a lot of devices, all but the Mate 2 running 4.4.2 or higher. Stability has not been an issue as they all run without any issues. That being said the improvements made in Kit Kat have been rolled into the the apps themselves in 4.3. The cosmetic differences can be added rooting, with framework etc. The only thing I really notice is my emolge are black and white in any other apps besides Hangouts. That being said, Android L running ART could be a great impact on better performance, so getting the Kit Kat update would be nice to see too as well as continuing updates. I have older devices, S3 on StraighTalk for example that has never gotten an update in 2 years. Can't run some of the apps I use. Lg L86C, same boat, almost 400 bucks for that phone 2 years ago, never got an update, can't even run Google now launcher or Google wear. No emolge support at all. Those are both phones that would see great benefits in running Kit Kat with the lower ram and specifications. If the Ham 2 goes that route it would be my last phone from Huawei. Let's hope they continue to support the devices they make for at least 2 years. That would be satisfactory to me.

Nice, now LG don't let us other non Korean users wait and stop teasing us. They will make a good build for the other LG's soon. I think that it will come this month/next month anyway to the LG G2 D802 atleast I hope(hint hint) so I suggest for people who want to port lollipop stock roms to other models to just don't do it because LG will release official soon and it will be probably be safer for us all
I really noticed a big difference with LG when I had first my LG Optimus 2X, they improved :good:

True but damn funny how a 5 year old phone has pretty much the same UI (stock ICS) as this G2 with KK.
Was about time they changed it when they launched G3 and hopefully also for G2 soon

Hey all I just received a notification just right now on an update for the At&t variant.. Anyone update yet?
I received it while out to lunch and deferred the update, now I can't get the update to come back as available. Maybe it's a sign.
Surely* someone will post it here in the forum.

I'm always happy to see some security patches but where is Oreo? Googles new OS is on less than 1% of devices..sad days.

I am curious what problems this release addresses. Spectre/Meltdown or performance improvements, or both? If anyone knows a place where AT&T or LG posts the release update notes, that would be great to know. One improvement I noticed is memory management. I always keep close watch over free memory, something back from the days of 1GB RAM phones. It has improved with this version.

Haha I cant read that, I will take your word - google translate confirmed it haha

Translation:
LG Electronics will upgrade the operating system (OS) of LG G6 to Android 8.0 'Oreo' from 30th.
LG Electronics has been providing 'Oreo' upgrades for the first time as a smartphone maker in Korea last December through LG V30. Based on accumulated technology and know-how, LG upgrades the latest OS upgrade to LG G6.
This upgrade is the first line of the 'Software Upgrade Center', which was launched in March for quick and systematic smartphone customer care. The center is a permanent organization to provide stable and ongoing support for occasional OS upgrades. Following this LG G6, LG V20 and LG G5, which were launched in 2016, will also be upgraded to Oreo.
The upgrade is available both wireless and wired. Customers who use the LG G6 can receive the software update notification from their smartphone, upgrade wirelessly, or connect to the PC and upgrade through the LG Bridge program. The 'LG Bridge' can be installed from the mobile phone download center of LG Electronics homepage.
Android 8.0 'Oreo' speed, battery and basic performance, screen configuration, graphics and overall improved. You can enjoy various convenience functions such as adding PIP (Picture In Picture) function that allows users to watch video and continue viewing images on a small screen even when another app is running, and support for high-resolution sound source LDAC that minimizes sound source loss.
LG Electronics plans to add new features such as the 'sympathetic AI' introduced by the LG V30S ThinQ to the LG G6.
The LG G6 is a premium smartphone with a 5.7-inch full-vision display that gives a full 18: 9 aspect ratio, an optimal grip to handle with one hand, and the highest level of durability. Astro Black, Ice Platinum, Mystic White, Terra Gold, Marine Blue, Lavender Violet, and Raspberry Rose.
"We will continue to provide stable and continuous after-sales services such as upgrading the OS and adding new functions to existing products," said Lee Seok-su, CEO of Software Upgrade Center at LG Electronics. "LG Smartphones can be trusted by customers I will try to make steady efforts. "
Yes, but I think the treat is for Korea market only, not sure how long it will be out of Korea.
Anyway, we can NOT trust any of LG's words before they have actually did.

If it does actually get released in Korea, it will be at least 1-2 months later for the rest of us. Don't get too excited.
I do not believe them
they are liars
We'll see April 30..
When I see the time it has elapsed between the release in Korea and the rest of the world for the V30.. (Not sure it's updated everywhere else)
I just talked with one guy from LG Poland. Its only release date for Korea. Rest of the world need to be patient :/
since I have a h870ds (which isn't europe version), does that mean I can get oreo the same day as Korea is released?
I dont think so that will be some update to Oreo for rest off world. Only for Korea supposed. It is same situation how Nougat for LG G4. Nougat will be last update for our phone, maybe some next security patching.

Yes, that is a definite possibility despite rumors otherwise. Just as they market certain variants of the G6 only for Korea, maybe they decided not to migrate an international version of Oreo. Supposedly they have been "testing" a version of Oreo in Korea or China since November, but not elsewhere.
Not sure what to make of their marketing hype of the "software upgrade center" or the "enterprise program".
If the upgrade does show up, I will be hesitant to be an early adopter, since if there are bugs it is not easy to downgrade on an unrooted phone.
I have a SEA version.. with an october security patch... wonder if this will apply to this version since its been half year without updates -_-

Mine is TWN stuck on 10m (1 October 2017). I think as soon as Oreo is installed I am flogging it, as disappointed of the lack of updates as I think the next version of android isn't far along now.

Being currently rooted I am awaiting our incredibly talented developers to create a flashable Oreo version (assuming of course Oreo actually appears) that will retain root and/or be rootable.
You guys are really strange: LG says officially (read it stressed) they launch Oreo update for LG G6 (even if in Korea) starting April 30th.
You go: I don't believe, blablabla. I want LG blablabla. I'll never buy an LG phone blablabla.
Nobody forces you to buy LG phones. You don't like something, you don't buy something. Period.
Why the hell did you buy an LG phone if you knew that LG had't released update for LG G5 or LG G4 or whatever you mention is left without the promised update?
In my language we have a saying translated to English like "The mice were getting hurt and crying, but kept on eating the cactus". Seems that you are like those mice
Keep calm and wait for Oreo. Instead of the cactus you may grab a pack of Oreo biscuits to make waiting more enjoyable.

Well said. Even though it's been said a million times before, we should wait and give LG a chance before we start judging them. We won't know if they'll be keeping their promises or not until the time comes.
Hoping Oreo is released for other regions soon too.
What bothers me is that LG's article says 8.0. I was expecting 8.1
