[Request] Hide folders in Sony Album - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

absolutely love the album app from Sony except one thing, it ignores the hell out of .nomedia
it'd be awesome if a developer can mod it to respect .nomedia files or exclude/hide folders like Quickpic does.
the pinch in/out to view photos in Sony Albums feature is too tough to pass up.
I'm sure many users will thank you!

.nomedia works fine for me. Not sure if it's because it's on the external sd.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Free mobile app

I also installed Quickpic and used the "hide" function. As long as it is on internal sd it is working well
Gesendet von meinem D6503 mit Tapatalk

it seems to be working fine now after a data clear on media storage and albums.
heard about it ignoring again after a new picture is added so I shall keep track. so far a fresh picture taken doesn't affect it.

Don't need root for .nomedia just create the file. Might have to trigger the mediascanner again to get it to work.
Not sure what you mean about the ringtones. Do you have another folder on the external card with ringtones in it?

I mean Walkmann see the sounds of the App Fotmob and i can't hide this sounds/alarms, i cannot find this sounds with no root right?

Not sure about that one, never used the app. If you add a .nomedia to the folder though, the app might no find it too.

Media not being found on ext_sd

I just flashed Westfire ROM 3.0 and the media files on my ext-sd are not being detected.
\sdcard\ext_sd\Music\song.m4a etc.
Or
\sdcard\ext_sd\DCIM\100MEDIA\ etc.
I can see everything in Root Explorer but neither Music, Google Music, or Gallery see the appropriate files.
Any clues for me?

Try this

Another option you might try is to use ES File Explorer or a similar program. Go to the folders where your pictures and the music are, and create into this folder a new one. Don't put any files in this folder! Just rename the created folder in .nomedia and reboot with fastbootmode ( in the energy settings) disabled.
I had similar problems once with an Archos 70 Internettablet, and this was the solution that worked for me.....

There's some mysterious bug regarding how the media scanner is triggered in some of the ROMs, I think... if you keep telling media scanner to run again and again, eventually it twigs that there's music.
i've never had this problem...until i read this thread...and then a day later it happened to me too
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES??
Pictures but no music - Evo View
I have an Evo View. I have about 3GB of MP3s on my sdcard. I've been unable to update my music library. I've tried creating a .nomedia folder in the folder where my music files are. I rebooted with fastboot disabled. But my library is still empty. If anyone has any other ideas, please share.

I believe the .nomedia file/folder tells android to exclude the folder from media players. So I'd delete this.
Then I'd unmount the sd card, and mount it again.
Go to file explorer, find your media and click a song to play. It should play fine.
On the mount it should recognize your media in the default music player. I just tried it and worked on my gingerbread rom. You might have to do a restart to get it recognized. But on HC or GB, this worked for me.
There's an app called rescan media on the market that you can run instead of restarting. Just run it after you mount the sd card.
I use poweramp to play my music and it finds my sdcard fine. It has different equalizers setup and sounds great. Plus you can choose where you media files are located. This makes it easy to setup your music files on the external sd card. But that costs a few bucks.

Maybe.
The problem is an incorrect link in the filesystem. Instead of link to a file, it link to another link.
The problematic file is sqlite3 in directory /system/xbin. You must find somewhere this file and replace the link.

music apps doesn't detecting songs except poweramp

I am encountering a strange problem.any music player except poweramp doesn't showing my songs.but using any file manager I can able to play songs individually it's annoying me a lot.has any one faced this problem?pls help me
Wait for a while then check again or try rebooting your phone. Btw, what rom are you using?
Moving your songs to a folder named 'music' might work too
Delete the double post too

Songs are in music folder only
Ok!, try to browse using root explorer, and show hidden files, and find ".nomedia" file to the folder where the music files are located and delete it. Now go to dev tools and selext media scanner.. that should do the trick..

I want gallery to ignore album art?

Can this be done using the STOCK gallery?
Sorry, please ignore.
I've tried using an app called Nomedia, then clearing Gallery cache and rebooting the phone, but that hasn't worked.
There's (PC) apps that embed the album artwork into the .mp3 (look for ID3 editors), that way you can delete the .jpeg from the folder, that should solve the problem.
Not sure if this will work for .ogg/.flac/.etc
Is there no elegant way to do this? Not being able to exclude folders from the gallery seems like a missing feature.
Another example of why I prefer quickpic to the stock gallery either in the s3 or in any phone I've yet owned
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Just change the name of the album art pic to AlbumArt.jpg and gallery will ignore it. Plenty of play store apps are available to automate the process.

Wouldn't this prevent the media player from scanning the folder for songs though?

Can see hidden images in de album app?

I read a lot of manga and in any other gallery app I can't see the downloaded chapters but in the album app I can it's like the app ignores the .nomedia file? Any way to fix this issue

rename the file(s) and remove .nomedia at the end of the extension, like photo.jpg.nomedia > photo.jpg
Or if theres an empty file with the extension .nomedia along with other files in the same direction, this file tells the indexing to hide this directory from the gallery. Remove this file then or rename it and remove the .nomedia
You can do this with any filemanager.
I use ES File Explorer and Root Explorer for example. If the files still not showing up, try do a media scan with Media Scanner in many cases this does the trick.
No its not an extension it's just a separate .nomedia file but with a 3rd party galary app it's hidden how it's supposed to be >.....<

From what I can find, this is a bug.. It's not related to this phone, It's Android in general
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24162
A workaround would be to rename the folder containing the .noname file and the other files. Then renaming it back to what the folders name was before. It's confirmed to work for allot of people.
Thanks found a temp fix " the problem seems to be the MediaScanner, which does not start to re-index media. If you clear data via App info for Media Storage (Settings -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage), .nomedia finally has an effect. (All credit for this workaround goes to aelfwyne from http://code.google.com/p/ankidroid/issues/detail?id=910)."

[Q] Custom Notification Sounds?

How do I change the notification sound for SMS in my Rezound? I have a short mp3 file I transferred to the SD card, I then tried to copy and paste that file into the notifications folder onboard the Rezound, but it said something about something being read-only, so it didn't let me paste.
I'm on stock ICS, non-rooted.
Does anyone know how I can get my mp3 sample into the Rezound for the SMS notification sound?

Have you tried this:
To use custom ringtones for your phone ringtone, your alarm or your text message notification, simply copy an MP3 file to one of the following folders: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones /sdcard/media/audio/alarms /sdcard/media/audio/notifications If they don't already exist, then create a new folder. The file will then show up when you want to change your ringtones. For Ringtones go to Settings - Sound - Phone ringtone For Text Messages go to - Settings - Sound - Notification ringtone For Alarm, set the sound when you add a new alarm - See more at:

maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I tried to finding that folder in ES file explorer and couldn't find it. It shows sdcard and sdcard2. in sdcard, the link to notifications is sdcard/notifications or sdcard/media/audio/notification. However, in the audio folder inside sdcard, there is only a notifications folder, no ringtones or alarms folder. When I pasted the sound to the notifications folders, I still couldn't find my custom sound when trying to change the notification sound in the SMS options.
The method I tried in the OP, was in a folder not in the sdcard or sdcard2, but inside a folder in the onboard phone folders (system/media/audio/notifications), or whatever is the root of the sdcard and sdcard2 folders.

I placed the mp3 file in both directories under sdcard and sdcard2 and it still doesn't show up in the list of sounds for notifications. I think I tried creating the folder in sdcard2, but I think it was already present in sdcard. I notice that those default notification sounds are not located in the sdcard or sdcard folders but rather are in the root folder of both sdcard and sdcard2 under the folder "system".
The directory is /system/media/audio/notifications. I tried placing the mp3 file there using ES explorer, but it doesn't let me paste there as it gives me an error about it being read-only. I don't know how to change that read-only option.
Picture of the error:
You get that error because you don't have root permissions....what version of stock ROM are you using....I'll flash it myself and figure it out for you....if you root and flash custom ROM you wouldn't have to worry about the hassle...also if you root don't use es explorer....use ROM toolbox but keep in mind it requires you have root

I already had a Notifications folder in the sdcard folder with the mp3 file in it so I just made one for sdcard2. After doing that I went to try to change the notifications sound in the sms options and it appeared in the list. But then I tried to delete the sdcard2 folder to try to see if I can diagnose the problem such as whether the sdcard folder was enough or if I needed the sdcard2 folder as well and after that I couldn't get it to show up in the list of sounds anymore. I recreated the folder in sdcard2 with the mp3, but it won't show up in sound list anymore. I don't know what happened. I shut down and restarted the phone after deleting the folder in sdcard2 as well as recreating the folder and it still doesn't work anymore.

I couldn't find an option to set text tone in the sound settings. All I found was a notifications tone setting, but couldn't find my mp3 file in the list there.
After doing it at first, it worked. So then I deleted the folders and eventually tried creating again and it didn't work. I then tried shutting off and restarting and it didn't work as well.
