Hows it going everyone,
I've been gone for a while, and decided I'd like to try going complete stock Telus again. Could someone explain the process of doing so? I've done some digging around and have found a couple links that could help such as:
[Collection] HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G Stock ROMs (RUUs & OTAs): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25761360
[Updated 7-12]✚ The Ultimate Guide to Everything Amaze-ing! Help us update the wiki!✚: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679486
Telus Amaze Kernel 3.0 Source Code: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762487
From what I've looked up, I believe I need the RUU and OTA from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25761360
Is it as simply as flashing the OTA/RUU and locking the bootloader again? I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, and sorry, I'm a complete noob .
Thanks in advance.
Huh, also found this by Dark Nightmare: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27058110&postcount=44
Is it really that simple as just downloading the Flashable ZIP, then putting stock recovery using Hansoons tool kit?
Where can I find the stock recovery? Currently have 4EXT.

I have the stock recovery linked at the bottom of that post, flash the telus flashable zip to return to stock, then the stock recovery is attached at the bottom if you wanna return that to stock as well.

Awesome thanks! Than once thats done, re-lock the bootloader? And RUU is the recovery? This is the link, right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Amaze_4G/ROMs#Stock_ROMs
^^ Ignore that. I can't read. Thanks for the information! Greatly appreciate it.

We have no stock RUU for telus ICS, so flashable zip is our only method at the moment.
Since there is a lot of confusion about the firmware zips I wanted to give everyone a quick run down about what they are and how they can be used.
Telling Firmware and Update Zips Apart
HTC uses two main types of zip files for their updates. Update zips are the ones most people are familiar with and can be flashed from a custom recovery, while Firmware zips are used for lower level flashing like radios/baseband or bootloader updates. An easy way to tell them apart is by looking at the name, most firmware zips will start with the devices designation such as PJ75IMG. If you open them up you'll also notice firmware zips only contain a handful of large files while update zips contain file folders and their content normally.

Flashing Firmware Zips (If your device is S-ON skip to the next section)
There are three ways you can flash firmware zips:
The first is to rename the file to 'PJ75IMG.zip' (careful not to add zip twice if extensions are hidden), placing it in the root directory of the sd card and then to restart the phone while holding volume down. This brings up the bootloader which will automatically look for the file and try to flash it. Once it completes be sure to rename the file so the phone doesn't keep trying to reflash it.
.
The second way is by command through the recovery. On a S-OFF device, and a handful of HTC Dev unlocked devices, an update zip can pass along a firmware zip to the bootloader and have it flashed once the phone is rebooted. This is how normal updates are installed, however, without S-OFF the bootloader will only accept the request if the firmware zip is from HTC and has not been modified.
.
The third way, using fastboot, is my preferred method and usually the quickest. Simply place the the firmware zip in the folder with fastboot and use fastboot as follows
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip PJ75IMG.zip
fastboot reboot
As long as you point it towards a valid file fastboot is not picky about the naming.

Click to collapse
Updating Firmware and S-ON/S-OFF
All RUUs and OTAs use firmware zips that have been signed with a special key from HTC. This allows the device to know if it's been modified.
When a device is S-OFF it ignores this key and allows you to flash any valid firmware zip, but S-ON devices will only accept them when the bootloader is relocked and if the firmware zip has not modified in any way.
Since firmware updates almost always contain hBoot (bootloader) upgrades to prevent people gaining S-OFF I don't recommend ever updating the firmware on a S-ON device.

Thanks to wwjoshdew we also have a video on how-to upgrade your device. Click here to view his post.
ROM Downloads
These can be flashed from a custom recovery.
I wanted to keep these as close to stock as is possible, so the only modifications made to them were superuser, busybox, the boot.img being made insecure, and the de-odexed version will be zip-aligned.

Shouldn't hurt, but mine was fully updated when I ran everything so I can't say for sure
Should we apply any of these if there's not a Rom ready yet? And also can't we put the file on the external sd card and go to the bootloader and it will automatically find and install the file for the firmware on the external sd card? I'm s off. 1.12 h boot.

I can't update OTA. I need file RUU Kitkat At&t HTC one now, please!
Why can't you update? RUU's come from HTC, if it's not on the site, it's not here. Remember RUU is Rom Update Utility, not a flash, not a zip but an exe.

Hello,
So I want to do an OTA from 4.4.2 > 4.4.3 on my One (M8).
I have Un-rooted, flashed a stok recovery and already have stock firmware.
Yet when I try and install it I get to about 1/4 then it shows a red triangle with an exclamation point.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong!
Please help
Many thanks

Have you disabled or removed any other system apps or made any other changes or mods to the system?
Oh, also, you probably need to relock the bootloader. Not sure about OTAs since I never ever do OTAs as they are the least desirable way to update, but via RUUs or firmware updates for HTCs you have to relock, so doubtful it's different here.

Thanks for the reply.
So I just re-locked the boatloader and ran the OTA.
I got the same result, a red triangle with an exclamation point.
I don't think I have modded anything, I did install viper rom, but I then backed up to a pervious stock version.
Any suggestions?

But without knowing which version of the phone you have, if it came from a carrier, what build version and firmware version are currently installed, etc, then can't really provide much more detailed instructions. If you aren't sure, re-read that first post again and use the fastboot commands to find out the important stuff.

The 3 ways are OTA, RUU, or firmware upgrade zip if S-Off. Pretty sure there won't be an RUU for 4.4.3 yet as it just dropped recently. You could try to RUU back to official 4.4.2 and try the OTA then if the nandroid restore doesn't help, but those are the only ways.
