Disable home button wake on NC5 to MK2 to rooted NC5 ROM - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I used the Surge1223 method to downgrade then upgrade to rooted NC5. Everything works good except I can not disable the home button from waking when locked.
I tried removing "WAKE" from gpio-keys.kl & Generic.kl, the options stick after a reboot but it will not disable the home button from waking when locked?
If I remove the key 172 entry it disables the home button, so I know it is reading/using the files. Just not removing the wake option.
Has anybody else found a way to fix this?

If your rooted get xposed and install Wanam module there is a setting in there.

Installing xposed with the wanam module worked.
But I would still like to know why it will not work by changing the gpio-keys.kl file?

Is probably linked to some other file as well. Tear apart the wanam apk and see what you find.

I took a quick look through wanam, but I did not see anything. Just the enable/disable string. Still do not know what it is changing to make it work.
<public type="string" name="disable_wake_home_button" id="0x7f070183" />
<public type="string" name="disable_wake_home_button_on" id="0x7f070184" />
<public type="string" name="disable_wake_home_button_off" id="0x7f070185" />

Menu dots, oh how I hate you

Do you think we will be able to make them go away at some point? Apparently you used to be able to task out the home button but they software patched the setting out.
Thoughts?

put it back by either installing the xposed framework and paulobrien's xposed mods or a custom ROM like AHRD.
problem solved.

Anyway to get a soft button navbar?

Is there a mod or a work around to put a soft navbar on a rooted MJ7 device? I have xposed and Wanam frameworks installed. Would I be able to use one of those to help me achieve this? I did see a mod for this in a SGS3 xda forum but was unsure as to if it would work with the s4?

I don't want to use a third party launcher is the only situation. I am currently using the 4.4 KitKat launcher from the s4 GPE that was put up. Any other ideas out in the xdaverse?

3minit. Look for it on Google play..... but you'd have to flash the appropriate framework, and I don't know how to do that with safestrap or anything
Sent from your mom's smartphone
3minit will not work with mj7 as there is no custom recovery. Unless you know something I don't.

The only way I've ever seen it done on a TW rom is using 3minit, which of course requires a custom recovery to flash the framework. You can't do it with Wanam & I haven't seen anyone put out an Xposed module for soft-buttons. I've tried editing the build.prop like it says to in the link, but it's never worked for me on any rom on this phone or the Note 2.
Have you considered just using Pie or Glove Box? I know it isn't the same as soft keys but it beats having to push and hold a button just to open recent apps.

Help with Home Button

I want to stop the Home Button from waking the screen up. It's very annoying and unnecessary that's why the phone has a power button. I use file Explorer went to system user key layout then gpio-keys.kl then open in text editor hit yes for read and write then went to key 172 took out everything there reboot and it still wakes up the screen. So please someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.
did u try wanam exposed yet?
Yes I did try that app and it did not work that app does not work with the S5. Everything I set to change with that app nothing applied after rebooting the phone.

Thats wrong wanam works fine, you either dont have xposed installed, dont have the module enabled, or have wanam installed on your sd card. I use wanam and almost everything works, including turning off home button wake up.

Xposed Modules Recommendations

Since I haven't used Xposed before, could anyone recommend some modules I should download for the V10?
If you're looking for instructions on how to install Xposed on the T-Mobile V10, check out this thread.
Check out youtube adaway and gravitybox for lolipop. Gravitybox turns stock into a custom rom my phone is two times better and I'm 5 times happier.
so is Exposed framework works with Lollipop now? That was my main reason on sticking onto KK when I was on note 4.
Anyone tried a manual DPI changer to see if they can get the second screen/UI to work with a better DPI?
Yes, systemui force close.

Was messing around with app settings. Found the second screen, but there is no dpi setting, only font. I changed it, now every call I make, it restarts. Changed it back, still restarting. It never changed the font size either...
Sent from my LG-H901 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
You can't change the system dpi - including using App Settings for systemui.apk or Android system. I have even tried to modify the Second screen to 640 but still crashes. If you do modify the settings in App Settings and you get fc and the system locks up where you can't do anything but pull the battery...
Boot into recovery.
Once in TWRP go to Mount and mount the System.
Go to Advance and File Manager
Make sure you are at root of the device then go to
data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.mods.appsettings/shared_prefs/
Delete ModSettings.xml
You device should boot and run normal again.
My main issue is the second screen crashes for phone calls and I think that is an issue with the xposed install.
No, it's not exposed. It wasn't crashing for me until. I messed with app settings. I restored system from twrp and it's good to go, with xposed installed.
Actually I can say that for certain as xposed framework is not installed anymore. You are probably correct.

I'm holding off on xposed until we can get a fix for the second screen contacts widget break and call fc.. I sent a log to @rovo89. Hopefully he has time to look at it.
Yep, xposed breaks it. Grrrrrrrrrr. Have to fix again.

For everyone asking about which versions to use, check out this tutorial I put together.

[TUTORIAL] How to install Xposed on the T-Mobile V10

Since several people have asked about this in my thread asking about plugins, I thought I'd put together a quick tutorial on how to get Xposed working on a ROOTED T-Mobile V10.
Requirements:
A ROOTED T-Mobile LG V10 running TWRP - Check out this thread for instructions on flashing TWRP and Root (Credit KAsp3rd)
Xposed V75 sdk22 arm64 - Link Courtesy mikeyinid
Xposed Installer 3.0 Alpha 4 - Link Courtesy Kenyonj
Known Issues:
Second Screen Force Closes any time a call is made or received
Second Screen Quick Contacts Widget doesn't work
Please report any others
Process:
OEM unlock, flash TWRP, Flash root
MAKE A BACKUP IN TWRP!!! (Very important. Xposed Framework will break things, and you may decide it's best to go back to stock for now.)
Copy the two files downloaded above onto the phone
Flash Xposed V75 sdk22 arm64 zip file in TWRP
Install Xposed Installer 3.0 Alpha 4 apk with a file manager
Run Xposed app, download plugins
Recommended Plugins:
Gravity Box - Change battery icons, hide ongoing notifications, change notification bar colors, change clock, etc. Many options do not work however. (Credit Airtioteclint)
Please recommend any that work well for you!
What not to try:
DPI Change - Will break systemui (Credit Warrior1975
Advanced power menu options in Gravitybox. We have a very custom poweroff menu, Gravitybox doesn't change anything on it.
Please let me know if anything you try breaks something
Thanks to KAsp3rd, Mikeyinid, Kenyonj, Airtioteclint, Warrior1975
So, just having xposed installed will break secondscreen?

Yes, for calls and the contacts widget. all other functions work fine. Logs have been emailed to the developer, hopefully there will be an official better working release of the framework soon.
Good information. Thank you

DPI changed successfully using app settings:

Wi-Fi calling works as long as you have a LTE connection. It is sort of broken with Xposed installed.
I always have it enabled, so that could explain why it worked for me.

Yup, I didn't notice either until someone asked me to test it. It's a known issue on the G4 as well.
Does anyone use PowerNap? The other modules I've used seem to work fine but PowerNap seems to make it go into such a deep sleep that I have to do a battery pull. I'm sure I have to find some apps to whitelist to stop it from happening but not sure which.
Big thanks for this! I've been having fun all day trying out various Xposed modules. I have my phone exactly how I want it now (for now lol)
Was anyone able to get Gravity Box to work? I get "GravityBox system framework not responding. Exiting."
GB works fine for me. Are you sure you are using the latest lollipop version and have v75 arm64 of xposed installed?
I use GB to center the clock, enable quick pin unlock, and to enable the circle battery
Looks like the second screen issue has been resolved. I installed the ZIP package and I have not seen any issues for the past hour I have been testing.

Been playing around with G4 Tweaksbox , it works for our device. Added a couple of nice tweaks, call recording being an important (I need it for my business). Have a few more options to mess with but the theming options work for the most part.
