Hi everyone,
Although I'm an ON/OFF user of the forum, haven't really registered 'till today.
At my work, wifi is available for Android devices only through web browser (and a lot of domains are blocked). No apps can use the wireless connection.
Is there any (simple) way to bypass this, preferably software-based, for an Android 4.2.2. tablet?

Hi there!
I'm trying to find a way to provision Android devices with a predefined profile to simplify the wireless connection.
There are such a feature on the iPhone (i'm unable to refer you the link due to my low post count) but i'm wondering if there's anything similar on Android without an extra app.
Thanks!
Hello all,
I have a boxchip A10 based android 2.3.4 device - the Yinlips YDPG18.
I''ve setup the wifi connection (as this is the only method of communication) and can access most sites without any problem.
However, it seems like there is a problem with certain google servers:
- I can use "google.com", but any searches via "google.com/m" fail after the first try (and have to clear the data for the browser to make it work again)
- while trying to setup my google account I get the "Cant' establish a reliable data connection to the server" message, ADB reporting a "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out" error.
- some applications seem to have trouble accessing certain content, like Amazon Appstore (the login works, but does not display any items)
Here are some of the things I've tried so far with absolutely no luck:
- reflashing and reformatiing the device
- changing the DNS servers, wifi router and internet provider (my android tablet work just fine on the same setup)
- upgrading the Services Framework and browser apps
- changing the device name in build.prop
- messing around with various settings in accounts.db, googlesettings.db and settings.db
My best guess is that somehow the device gets selectively blocked based on some criteria, but I can't really explain how.
Any help would be highly appreciated, as I'm starting to run out of ideas...
Thank you!
Hi folks, I hope someone can offer some words of advice.
I would like to be able to share my ethernet internet connection on my android 2.2 tablet via wifi.
I know there are various app's on phones that allow you to share your 3g connection but I have not found anything that I can actually install that will create the same sort of functionality on my tablet, most of the ones I've seen on the play store are simple short cuts giving control over the pre-existing wifi hotspot app.
What I need is the wifi hotspot itself, ie the ability to use my tablet as a router/bridge.
So any thoughts people?
Bump
Really, no comments at all, nobody?
Someone must have thought of this before me, if not does anyone know where I can find an actual wifi hotspot app not just a set of controls for the pre-installed hotspot?
Thanks
Jon
If you're talking about what I think you are, I've yet to find a way to broadcast your ethernet connection with your Wi-Fi Hotspot like a router. If there's a way to do it I'd be interested, but somehow I don't think there's a way to do it!
Beginning to think your right Wolfy. To be honest not that surprised there is no ready made to ethernet to wifi app but I thought I'd be able to find a traditional wifi hotspot that I can install on my tablet just for the sake of having a go & seeing if it works.
Amazed that there haven't been any other responses! Where are the regulars?

Hi All,
I am wondering if anyone can take a look at a keypad (tablet) that runs on Android 6.0. It has no WiFi, just works over POE w\Injector. Wondering if we can WiFi to this Androind build. You can PM me for details.
thanks
Bump.. Anyone interested? The issue is since the tablet is hardwared the apps need WiFi to connect. Not sure why the apps need WiFi, since the tablet is already online, can browse internet, etc. IE; If I launch the Sonos App, it ask me to enable WiFi. It wont connect using the hardware POE connection.
Here is the build info to this device.

@sweethip
PoE is Ethernet and not Wireless ( Wi-Fi ): Your tablet does't support Wi-Fi connection because it hasn't an inbuilt Wi-Fi antenna .
@jwoegerbauer
Thanks for the response.. Yes it does have it built in.. it's just disabled or removed from the latest build.
I am asking to see if someone can take a look and see if they can re-enable it since I am not familiar with android devolpment.
Is that a limit on android apps not working over Ethernet ? Don't get why the apps won't work even though it's connected online.
