Get Titanium Backup and freeze or uninstall the unwanted apps.
Of course you need to be rooted first.
Ok well my next prob is I don't think my phone can be rooted I've done the kit kat 4.4.2 and from what I've read it can't be rooted if it can be rooted can some one give me some detail on how to do it
You will need to downgrade to mk2, root, install safestrap,
then you can go back to a rooted nc5 stock rom.
or just stay at mk2 rooted whichever is your preference.
Everything you need will be in this thread.

I know it may seem like a lot but it isn't bad at all.
I hope you get everything the way you like it.

Sorry searched around most of the day here and really cant find an answer. So i used superoneclick to root my phone when stock. I have everything setup how i like no issues everything frozen and backed up with titanium, setcpu setup, and the usual. I upgraded to 1.57 and kept my root. I would like to get rid of superoneclick and go with gladiatrix2 but not sure how to do that. i really dont want to unroot, go back to 1.26 root, update, and then rom it but will if needed.
Basically what is the easiest and cleanest way to do what i am asking for?
New to the android scene but comfortable tweaking electronics, thanks for all the help guys.

If you have root, you don't need to uninstall superoneclick. If you used GladRoot to upgrade, then it cleaned up any mess superoneclick left behind. Just follow the instructions in the GladiAtrix2 thread.
Awesome. I will. Thanks for clearing that up and thanks for all your help.
I have always deferred the ME7 update and I'm running the MDK. I have ROOT with TWRP recovery. I'm done with the ROM seen. I do like TouchWiz and have been running and always go back to the stock ROM.
My question for all you pro's is, if I accept this deferred OTA on the stock ROM (im running now) (I know it will break root) will it have trouble overwriteing the TWRP recovery? Also, do I need to uninstall SU?
To make a simple question...what will happen if I install this update?

If I was in your situation and wanted to do that then I would odin back to stock and start fresh. I like the cleanness of doing it that way. And it would wipe root and replace your custom recovery with stock. You could always unroot manually and flash the update, it should overwrite the stock recovery. I could be wrong though, im speaking from experience on the s3. Thats how it worked. Or you could always flash a stock rooted me7 rom. Thats what im running because I too generally return to stock because of the stability and im one of the few that actually likes touchwiz.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk. now Free

Using terminal emulator to remove the superuser files. There is an unroot option in supersu but I have never used it.

ended up just purchasing Titanium Pro and freezing SDM.apk and that did the trick on the annoying OTA reminder. I also figure I will keep root and TWRP on, that way I can flash any new Google Edition Roms and or new TW roms
So I was on 4.3 MJ7 for a long time and everyday I would hit "install later" on the OTA update pop up but one day I messed up without realizing it and now my phone is on 4.3 MDK, I rerooted my phone and I want to remove my custom rom I've had forever that I don't even use because my internal space is almost used. Well I can't access Safestrap recovery. It says it's installed but it won't go into recovery mode. Also I haven't reinstalled it or anything as I don't know how it would effect the custom roms accessibility. Safestrap is v3.71 and I just need to get rid of Hyperdrive. By the way the OTA pop ups are back so I'm thinking of just updating all the way then rooting, I just need a clean device first. I hope to receive a solutionn and appreciate any help. BTW I have installed Busybox as some people have found that as a solution, well I didn't and to be perfectly honest I don't even know what Busybox does or is lol.

Yes MK2 sorry I misspelled, but won't the wipe clean my device completely? I wouldn't want to lose my information and all the data on my phone.
I am giving two VZW GS4's to my parents for Christmas and I would like to make things as simple as possible for them, which means getting rid of all the boatware that Verizon/Samsung includes. I'm familiar with rooting/flashing etc. with my Sprint GS4, but I am still somewhat bewildered by all the info regarding the VZW phones and all the different versions.
These VZW phones are on the NC5 baseband (?) and if I understand correctly they can be rooted with towelroot but cannot install a custom recovery because the bootloader is locked.
Once I root, will the phone still receive OTA updates and install properly, or will there just be a continual message saying that the update failed?
I don't plan on trying to install a custom ROM, but if I understand correctly the only way to do so is by using safestrap?
Is it possible to backup the phone, similar to a ROM backup in TWRP for example? Will I be able to return to a full stock state after root? In other words, after I root what happens if I do a factory data reset?
Thanks in advance.

1. You are correct. The nc5 can only be rooted. The bootloader is not unlocked or even possible to workaround; safestrap is your only option.
2. Once you root, your phone will not be stock anymore so OTAs will not work. You must unroot and restore your phone back to stock in order to update via OTA. However, if you learn how to use ODIN, your life will become much easier.
3. Safestrap is the only way.
4. You can backup with Safestrap. Yes you will be able to return back to a full stock state using ODIN. If you use ODIN to factory reset, your phone becomes back to stock i.e. unrooted.

Thanks. One more question: Once rooted, if I stay on the stock rom, will the phone still receive OTA update notifications (even though it will fail install)?
I'm a little familiar with odin so I should be able to go back to full stock if necessary.

Yes, unfortunately, you will receive constant update messages. However, if you are rooted, you can stop these messages. Download an app called "titanium Backup" and freeze fwupdate.apk. That specific app is what causes all the update messages to appear.
I'm looking for some help/advice. I did search and didn't find anything on this although I would think it would have been covered before so my apologies if I missed it and it's already been answered.
I'm currently running Stang5Litre 5.0 OC1 V2 which I installed with Flashfire and I'm having a lot of issues with Good For Enterprise and it's root check. I can get it to work with Xposed as long as I stay on an old version of Good, but I've had two accidental upgrades that triggered a compliance failure and it's a long process with my work to get a new pin to get it going again. Using the detach from market in Titanium doesn't stick. I'm also interested in using Android Pay and can't get that to work at all. So I'm now considering getting rid of root. There isn't that much I do anymore that truly requires a rooted phone other than I really like being able to get rid of all the bloat and being able to freeze and unfreeze in Titanimum.
So my question is what options do I have? Can i fully unroot a debloated ROM or would I need to flash a stock unrooted OC1 ROM? Also, is the fact that my Samsung boot screen shows as unlocked an issue? I know that simply removing SuperSU isn't enough. I don't want to do anything that is going to prevent me from changing my mind down the road and going back to a rooted ROM which I know means not installing anything after OC1.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
After doing a little more research on Good, I think I have no choice but to flash a completely stock unrooted ROM. Apparently it checks too many things to simply remove Root. So what are my options for going back to stock and still keeping the ability to root down the road if I choose?
Thanks
