Had the m7 for a while and I had a known issue of having dead pixels. Have there been any wide spread issues with dead pixels with the m8?

Nope
I had a dead pixel on my first two units. The third is perfect. But no I wouldn't say it's widespread, I've not seen many complaints. The only way I could spot mine was in a dark room with the brightness blasted on a black screen.

I had one in my first unit. I sold it and bought a silver model and it's perfect.
The one dead pixel though was barely noticeable.

Dead pixels is a known issue on all LCD's, no madder who makes it. In fact most manufacturers have a dead pixel policy and its usually anything under 5 dead pixels is normal unless 3 or more are grouped. If under 5 dead pixels they wont even warranty the lcd. So it can happen on any device.
Not a single one here.

My lovely new shiny prime has now got 2 dead pixels on different parts of the screen. Does this warrant a return to PC world in Swansea or is this acceptable as it is under the number that is set as standard as faulty unit. Going to try the GPS outside son on a clear nice night to see how it performs

return it. I wouldn't take a dead pixel for a new unit.
I would say 1 dead pixel is enough. Its up to you. If it bothersyou or is in a bad spot (like the middle of the screen)

I have a few I think it was about 6 and it's now down to 4 they are very spread out and can't be noticed unless you are on a boot screen or a similar black screen and you look really close!

Thanks for that, looks like a trip to my local PC world for a swap or refund tomoz afternoon

I just swapped mine at Best Buy because it had only 1 dead pixel. It was really annoying, and for $500 it shouldn't have any.
Try a pixel fixer app first lol

I had to return my first one. It had two suck pixels right in the center. One red and one green. Hoping the next doesn't have any but it seems from the comments on this board it is very common. If i have to return a second one i will not be buying a third.
PC World took it straight back with no problems and gave me a full refund.£500 richer now and not sure what to do? Buy another one or wait for a newer version,,

I agree with everyone who responded to this post. If you're not happy with your device, exchange it.
There is a warranty card that came in the box that explains what ASUS considers as their TFT Display defect policy.
Minimum defect requirements for service:
3 bright dots or 5 dark dots or 8 bright and/or dark dots in total; or
2 adjacent bright dots or 2 adjacent dark dots; or
3 bright and/or dark dots within an area 15 mm in diameter
Just curious, does this video fix anyone's dead pixel problem?

I have 1 dead pixel that I can't stand. Would RMA'ing to NewEgg for an exchange be faster? Or should I just have a warranty repair?
idk asus wont fix just one dead pixesl unless its a dark spot which must suck
i have like 4 white spots and they are not noticable lol

newegg has an 8 dead pixel policy on lcds. Not sure if tablets are part of that or not though.

Well surprisingly, the dead pixel was fixed after running jscreenfix for an hour

So I know that htc went with a new method of screen the "zero gap". But I heard some people are getting black specks under there screens is this still happening for those who just bought the phone or exchanged ? I'm wanting to buy one but I don't want to through that drama that I did with apples iPhone 4s after 4 replacements have a decent screen!
Zero gap is great and I drive in a dusty ass truck 10 hours a day and every phone I've had got dust under the screen with in the 1st week. This phone hasn't and i think the people who have a specs under theirs has to be from the time of build or an actual dead pixel.

That's what I meant if a new purchase one had any dust from manufacture. But it's awesome to know thy no dust build up from day today usage. Thanks for the information much appreciated
I've had my phone for a week now and the only dust I have on the screen is from factory build. I don't plan on exchanging it because rarely doci get a phone that has no problems. The spec of dust is tiny and I don't see it unless its a white blank screen...and even then i have to look for it. My screen does have two dead pixels but the time I've seen them is with the brightness set to Max in a pitch black room and a perfect black sfreen. Even then I had to hunt for them. So given the fact i had to search that hhard for them ii call it a pass. (Yes this is how anal I am with my phones)
OK thank you very much so yours came with dust under the screen ? And when you say small like pen point size or smaller.

My first phone had dust under the screen from the factory -- it covered about three or four pixels, and was clearly lint or something like that. No problems with the replacement phone.
Hi!
My Atrix began to develop what seemed to be standard dead (black, unmoving) pixels at first. The dead pixels started spreading as they do quite normally as well.
But then I saw that they are actually translucent grey as in I can kinda see text and other things behind the 'dead' pixels since the 'dead' pixels get darker if text is meant to be on it.
Also, the 'dead' pixels move. MOVE. Like from one place to another. They don't move very far, but they definitely move, leaving a working pixel behind where the 'dead' pixel originally was.
You might want to know that the glass in front of the digitizer and the lcd is cracked from dropping (so touch works totally fine) but the 'dead' pixels started appearing about 8 months after the drop. The dead pixels are nowhere near the main impact point.
Can anyone help me fix this? Since it seems they aren't actually 'dead' is there a way to repair the pixels somehow? I have tried rubbing the pixels with some pressure with my fingers/wet cloth etc. but they didn't work.
PS: Warranty is void since I dropped the phone and because the warranty time finished.
Cheers
Honestly, sounds to me like you got some dust in between the layers that make up the TFT display. Not sure what to do, since this is an extremely tricky operation... I've had something like that on a few screens (not on the Atrix though), what I do is usually just simply get used to it.
Definitely not dust. Its clearly pixels.

I have two DNAs (Work/personal) and both are now showing 3~5 white pixels near the edges of the display. There were no dead nor stuck pixels when I purchased them, but 2~4 white pixels are stuck permanently and 1~3 pixles flashes randomly on both devices now. I have tried leaving the phones off for 24 hours and rapidly screening solid colors to see if the white pixels go off, but they still remain permanent. Other people can't see them, but as I have abnormaly good near-sighted eyes, they are irritating, especially in dark environments.
My only guess is that changing the voltage/clock speed caused this, since it happened after installing the Cube kernel (NOT blaming the kernel nor its developer.) with adjustments to voltage and clock speed settings. Or perhaps the 1080p LCD panels are just more vulnerable to pixel-related defects than lower resolution LCD panels.

I also have several stick pixels, but I have not even flashed a new rom yet so I doubt it has anything to do with ocing

I have had stuck pixels for a while after undervolting the screen voltage output on my Galaxy S before, so I would say that it is probable.

I had two white pixels on two different DNA's until I got my third one which didn't have any. In short, I don't have a DNA anymore so I couldn't say if my third would have developed these.
I did a Google search at the time and we definitely aren't alone unfortunately.
Good luck if you get replacements!

I had several dead pixels in the middle of the screen and it looked horrible. I factory reset to stock and it didn't go away so I too it back to VZW. The salesman looked at it for two seconds and said it was bad and instantly ordered me a new one. The entire casing of the phone creaked really bad before and even worse after the plug broke off the bottom so maybe I had a lemon.
Has anyone found dead pixels on their Z2 got mine Saturday and already had it replaced once for this issue and the replacement has the same problem
Cant find any dead pixels on mine. Come to think of it i always got lucky with stuff like that. Not a single dead pixel on any device i ever had.
2, one really noticeable, one is faded

Sony warranty states that 2 dead pixels are acceptable. Fortunately, my Z2 has none.
I've sent mine back for a replacement with one dead pixel and overheating issue. Bought it last Friday, already gone
I found one dead pixel on mine, but I'm ignoring it for now.
OK. I have one stuck green pixel on the top right. Is this a common thing with xperias? Does anything actually work to fix them? My phone is ULB so I can't get it replaced.

Try display tester pro. No guarantee but worth the try
I had a Z replaced at least a dozen times due to dead pixels, eventually got a Z1 which had none but now it looks like Sony is plagued by them back with the z2
I've tried a few apps to fix it. Its only barely visible when on full brightness with a black background when its close to my eyes. No biggie.
Is this pretty common with Sony Xperias?

Every phone manufacturer suffers from these problems not just sony, I remember it was a common problem with the nexus 5 when it got released, if it's only 1 dead pixel then it should be much of a problem, besides I have heard you need at least 3 dead pixels to get a replacement
do you guys check for dead pixels with a magnifier? As now with these high dpi screens it's pretty hard to identify "one" dead pixel to me... maybe mine has but i don't think i can notice it without a magnifier lol
I only noticed it on the black screen in the dark. It doesn't bother me, it's only one pixel.

Same for me. Only visible on full brightness with black. Its never like that unless I check.
