Maybe proximity sensor is faulty. You can use power button to end call in the mean time. Enable the option from dialer settings or Accessibility settings.

cannt end up phone call
power button also not working to end up call so do you think it is hardware problem? New ROM will not solve it out?

Physical keys and lock screen

Hi all!
During test of android rom "darkstone" I noticed that, with the lock screen, the physical keys are enabled anyway while there is an incoming call.
There is a program like "InCall Lock" for wm?
thanks!
r.
Do you mean when youre on the lockscreen and you press I think either the back or windows button it unlocks the phone??? Cuz I hate when that happens, is there anyway to stop that from happening?

no, i mean that i can answer with physical key to an incoming call even if my phone is locked...
in hd2 with wm there is a program that avoid this (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612899), I was wondering if there is something similar with android.
r.
nothing about this issue?
Reopened per request from member stating that issue affecting other builds also.
Peace,
Josh
Is there a solution for this issue yet?
I have tried several (sense) builds and on every one I can answer (or reject) a call by pressing the buttons instead of unlocking the screen first.
That is annoying when wearing the phone in the pocket.
On none-sense builds (Default Android lock-screen) I found out something astonishing:
If the screen is locked and the display is turned on I can unlock the device by pressing the windows-key...
Can anybody confirm this issue?
That's not an issue, it's a feature
On android phones you can unlock the phone using the 'menu' hardware key. With our builds, the windows key is mapped as the 'menu' key.
So that's why you can unlock the phone using your windows key

I think that what he is looking is that if you have the phone is you pocket and you get a incall, you don't want to answer/cancel the phone because you accidentaly push the "answer or cancel hardware button"..
Is there a way to dissable the hardware buttons when the phone is locked??

[Q] Screen is off but its still active?

I was using my phone earlier listening to music, then I hear that I get a text and reach for my phone, when I pushed the power button the screen wasn't turning on but it was still responsive because I can still answer phone calls.
Is my screen dead?
Is there a fix?

how do you know where the icon is when someone calls... does the screen then go active ? if you it may be a sensor or try reflashing whatever ROM you have installed... even if only the stock RUU 2.17

I too would like to know if that is possible
Ive found out that its possible to disable the WAKE function for the power button. This will disable the power menu, but you can still hold the button down for like 6sec and it will shutdown... :-\
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
No way
Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I want to be able to wake/sleep my phone with the power button, but don't want anyone to be able to access airplane mode or turn the phone off. I have a HTC Desire S, and when that's locked, the power button does absolutely nothing except switch the screen on, which is what I want to happen. As the S3 currently functions this is a maor issue for me, because if anyone finds/steals my phone, there is nothing turning on Airplane mode immediately, at which point my phone becomes unrecoverable.
This seems like a limitation/oversight of touchwiz, is there no way at all I can get the S3 to behave like the Desire?

It's not like there's something stopping them from turning it off (hold the button, it's wired in the hw, impossible to disable) or simply taking out the sim card

It's wired into the hardware? Are you sure about that? The power button on my HTC does absolutely nothing if you press the power button (for any length of time) while the phone is locked. In my opinion it would be software that controls the function of the button.
You make a good point about the sim though - that an the battery being removed would stop me from finding it.
However the main thing I'd like to disable is the airplane mode function from the lockscreen as it literally takes no time at all to do. At least the other methods require a little bit more effort, and the scum that steal phones aren't usually known for their intelligence, so I can always cling to the hope they won't think about taking the back off (since so many phones nowadays have inaccessible guts) to remove the battery or sim, at least not immediately.
Is there anyone who can help with this?

I don't think it's any more difficult to steal the phone by diabling the powerbutton functions, but I would still really like to find a way of disabling this function. Although it's meant as an easy way to enter reboot, shutdown and turning on/off misc functions, I don't mind unlocking the phone to do the same things through the slidedown menu.
I just don't like the fact that the phone actually can be turned off by holding a button down for x-amount of seconds, or even open up a menu that lets anyone change the status of the phone. When it's locked it is locked to prevent accidental changes when the phone is in my pocket AND to prevent people from accessing any options, unless they pull the battery and boot to download or recovery.
The powerbutton and the home menu should be allowed to wake the phone up, so that you can read widgets/missed events/the time or whatever, but never let anyone do anything before they enter the correct pattern/password or whatever security is enabled.
Hope that this can be fixed. Been searchin around for weeks after this and would really like to see someone assist us with this issue.
Its a build not a fix wait for SGS4 and see if its been added .
Personally if i had to enter pinlocks as you suggest i would not want this phone .
Development sometimes putting up a large bounty or donating a SGS3 may kick start a modification .

Yeah.... It has come back with the latest firmware.
on the .475 FW upgrade it got fixed. .510 was OK too.. but the current .532 has the problem again.
Lets hope it is gone with the next upgrade, because there is nothing u can do uness you roll back a firmware
your screen protector is bad, change it as it might disturb ur proximity sensor.
screen protector it has to have a hole on the sensor if it does not you have a problem i used a hole puncher worked perfect
