I want to use custom kitkat rom on my xperia sola. But the problem is I cant flash kernel. I dont have a pc. I found so many kitkat custom rom on sola dev treads. Is there any other way to flash kitkat kernel without a pc? Eg. Flash kernel with CWM. Sorry for my annoying question.

Kernel can be flash via Flashify

Flashify is not supported by Sony phone.

I have just made a zip of the ICS FTF for a friend.
My questions are: is there one already and I just wasted my time?
If not, does anybody want to test it as I won't be able to check on my friend's phone for another two days.
I've removed some apps and rooted it.

There is none,as far as i know,n is it for st25i or st25a..please gimme the link,i'll test it n report back..also.does the recovery works even after the update..??
I haven't added the kernel, so I think the ROM would have to be flashed in recovery first, then flash the stock kernel in Flashtool. I could upload that as well if needed.
I could look into adding the kernel, I think it's just a few lines in the update script. It's unlikely to have recovery though. Don't know how to do that yet.
I'm not familiar with adding kernels because I've only tried with a phone that can't flash kernels in recovery.

As far as I know it is a, but I've changed the build.prop to i. I read as long as you don't flash the baseband it should be OK.

Did you wipe caches and data before and after, and use the correct (stock ICS) kernel?

Does flashing the ROM, removes the CWM ? Is CWM and ROM are inter related ? I'm using Xperia P and I installed CWM after alots of googling. Now planning to install MIUI in my Xperia P.
No flashing a rom does not change recovery version at all

No it does not. Though some roms have a slightly modified version of cwm.
Press thanks if I helped

You can not. For flashing any other kernel except stock you need unlocked bootloader.

If it works with stock kernel... In some cases custom roms work with custom kernels only, so to not brick your device be sure this rom works with stock kernel.
EDIT: after you have locked bl how will you install stock kernel with recovery?

You need to flash the boot.img inside the zip first using flash tool and then cm10 and then gapps. Your bootloader also needs to be unlocked for this.

How can I backup my stock kernel? Or can I download stock kernel for z2 from somewhere.. Please advice
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Free mobile app
you can use flashtool to flash kernel only from a FTF or you can use a custom recovery to backup and restore later
