Bootloader unlock code - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One of the guides I have read claims that by using flash tool Sony will be unaware that the BL has been unlocked. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the unlock code can be generated without requesting it from Sony.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk

The unlock code can only be given by Sony, flashtool can use that code to then unlock the bootloader.

¿then if sony giving you the code does not need to submit it for unlock?¿Is there any danger to unblock with flashtool?

Flashtool simply automates things you normally do by typing adb commands. I unlocked 3 BL in Z2's and it was perfectly safe for me. Just be sure not to disconnect phone from computer during this and everything should be ok

And how do i do that..
To flash other ROM, you can try WotanServer or Flashtool, last one requires correct files, WotanServer needs, that you only pick, which version of firmware you want(and free account).

Yes you can do it in stock with Wotan server but take into account that this process only changes the firmware version you are on for a generic one from se maybe a newer one but nothing more after this you still won't be able to flash custom kernels or roms unless you unlock your bootloader and fast boot.
You can try the unofficial way for the bootloader and it might work I cannot warranty it but it will not be that good as most of the roms need they own kernels and you will need access to fastboot mode to do that, unfortunately you need to completely unlock your phone either with omnius or setool to gain access to fastboot and this will cost you some money.
How can flashing that 042rom allow bootloader unlocking??
Just for the hell of it, i flashed my mini pro with that rom and it has not let me unlock the bootloader at all so im a little confused here

Man that is why I hate when people just write for the like of it!!! @ seansmit17 this is not with you I hope you know what I mean.
If you have the message unlock bootloader allowed: no; then it means your phone is sim locked this will lock the fastboot mode too so you will not be able to flash a custom kernel unless you unlock the sim and fastboot mode (connecting the phone turned off and holding the volume up key to the computer = blue notification led with turned off screen and phone), the only means that I know off to unlock is either omnius or setool, this is for the sim and fastboot and it is not free.
For the bootloader you can use the test point method found in the development section, of course I can't guarantee it will work and of course this will NOT UNLOCK YOUR SIM OR FASTBOOT MODE BUT ONLY YOUR BOOTLOADER.
When you install a generic firm with Wotan server it is like a seus upgrade and nothing else well it will allow you to get the last upgrades when they come out due to a change in product code but that's it. The same with flashtool but without the change in product code.
Hope it helps.

[Q] WT19i LWW bootloader unloacking on 3 UK services provider

Need help regarding unlocking bootloader of WT19i on 3 UK network
my build is 4.0.1.A.0.283
i have root
but my phone doesn't go into fastboot at all
i tried many methods including Sony Ericsson Bootloader Unlocking Relocking 1.6 and AndroidFlasher1.8.00 and SEtool
nothing worked
my service menu still says its not allowed
and i seems to remember that i could go to fastboot a few weeks ago
i read many threads but non of them helped
and non of them were noob enough for noobie
any help would be appreciated
Bootloader Unlocking Tool will not work at all, it is the same as official method.
You need to use paid method, as fastboot has to be enabled and currently only known way is via paid service provider(remove SIM-lock, enable fastboot and unlock bootloader are mostly done in this one operation)

Any suggestions ?
i heard a lot about this Wotanserver thing
Is it reliable ?
or should i find something locally ?
Ominus, WotanServer and some others offer the SIM-lock removal service. They also enable fastboot and in some cases unlock the bootloader(not sure though).
I do not have personal experience, so I do not know more.

If it's the unlock code for your simlock, it could happen that it'll change to yes, but I'm not sure. Try it and report please

Nope, unlocking SIM will not enable your fastboot, that means Bootloader Unlock Allowed stays No.

Hmmm...True....Sim Lock and Bootloader Lock is two different things...unlocking Sim will not make Bootloader Unlock Allowed = Yes....

But how does Wotan server work then? I mean if you unlock via Wotan server (with bl unlock allowed:no and simlock) some people said they were able to unlock the bootloader?

I don't know how it works .. but it works ... Wotan unlocks bootloader even if it says NO in service menu

This is done different. WotanServer requires using the test point method, this also enables the fastboot. However, this works only on phones, that have been manufactured before 12W11. Newer phones have newer type of security, test point method no longer works on those.
Using the code is inserted by firmware, it does allow different SIM cards, however does not affect bootloader at all.
I can unlock and relock my bootlader via s1tool crippled with s2 cmds ,no problem , I recieve virgin unlock from Sony , on Sony headed paper , but no it didnt reset my status to yes , im wondering if fastboot will enable now I have no sim lock,or will I have to edit the sin tool cmd file for mango or get jinxs to enable all for me

Bootloader unlocking

Hi i just checked my bootloader status says NO, is there anyway to unlock it? Would it be possible maybe later on..? I Want to try cm but i heard my bootloader needs to be unlocked to get that rom?

As for now, there's no way to unlock BL units with Bootloader Unlock Allowed = NO. You may try but I knew someone who ended up hard-bricking his phone.
You can unlock it officialy but will loose warranty.

there is no way to unlock your non unlockable bootloader as of this point today
your bootloader contains encrypted files which means you cant edit them easily, decrypting them can take a pro developer upto 3 years as each devices encryption key is different as well as encryption type however type depends on when it was manufactured

that doesnt apply for xperia Z2, the firmware on the xperia Z2 has a set of encryption types and keys which it runs, all is verified with various partitions. some of thr partitions are encrypted hence you CANT UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER if your device has these encrypted files and partitions.
it will either FAIL unlock or your device will BRICK. most xperias are the same, its very rare this actualy works. estimated to be 1:1.3m

Unable to unlock bootloader

I just bought the Z2 phone which is UNBRANDED and check that the BOOTLOADER can be UNLOCKED under the configuration menu. The phone is rooted which I verified through a program. Using Android 4.4.2, Build 17.1.2.A..0.314
Tried the flashtools to unlock it
Flashtools - gives me the error that the bootloader cannot be unlocked. Tells me to unplug the phone and turn it on.
Any help?
Try 2-3 times.
But first root with easyroot then backup the TA partition then while in root, unlock. Everything will work.

1. install all drivers
2. run flashtool as admin
3. make sure your imei code was right
4. make sure your unlock code was right
5. try again a few times
misc. check if your bootloader is unlockable in your service menu, does it say rooting is alowed (i dont remember what menu this was in):*#*#SERVICE#*#* in your dialier

Yes rooting is allowed
Im using flashtool only as admin not the official method and tried alot with no luck
Iv’e tried to unlock via flashtool as above but it tells me it cannot be officially unlocked, before doing this I checked on the phone and it says bootloader unlockable yes
You might want to try the "old-fashion" way?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440597
You have to root first to backup TA partition (or don't haha but please do it is essentially your warranty)
Then go to the Sony Dev page to get your unlock code. You need your imei. Then, use that in fastboot(not flashtool oops). The instructions are in the Sony page. This WILL wipe your phone so you might wanna tibu stuff into your sdcard

I have backuped TA
If i use the official way from sony will it be a problem if I want to relock it again for warranty purposes or if occured faults for the device?
Do Sony know that i have unlocked the bbotloader then it will void warrant even if I lock it again?

No idea but I doubt it. The unlock process cannot send a notification to Sony, but I am not sure what their policy is on you obtaining the unlock code. Should be fine though

I would suspect that if Sony wanted to be arses about it that they will take the obtaining an unlock code as proof it was unlocked, do you tick a box to say you accept you are voiding your warranty when you request the code? But it doesn't make a difference what method you use as both require the unlock code from Sony.
