I got a new Xperia Z2, bought last Monday from an online italian shopping site. I charged it about three times already, with its original Sony micro-USB charger, and it takes 3 hour to charge from 15% to 100%, is this normal? My charger is 1.5A, is this right? I got a G2 before this Sony, with a 1.8A charger and it charges really fast, why Sony put a little charger for a bigger battery?
3 hours is alright.

Is possible to charge it with a bigger charger? For example 1.8A or 2A. Do I have some time improvement? Because 3 hour is too damn long to wait :\ my G2 charges 5% to full in at least 2 hour and half

Hi, I think I'm having problems with my amazing Amaze..it's taking just about 5 hours to do a full charge (1%/3min).
Would like to hear some feedback from you guys.
1-How long did your first/second/third charges take (approx).
2-How long does a full (from under 10%) charge currently take?
3-At what rate is your device charging (%/min)
NOTE: I am using a wall outlet and it does say on the phone that it's charging though AC charger.

Do you have an idea of how long it takes for it to increase by 1%?
Yeah, in my case...even with the phone off, it still seems to take just as long.
Cheers
Mine varies alot. If I'm not messing with it and the screen is off its 3 to 3 1/2 hours. However if I start playing a game or just messing with xda it can easily exceed 5 hours. Been thinking about trying the charger for my transformer to see if it charges any faster just haven't yet.

Holy...8 hours? Really? Was that using AC charger or USB? Were you playing with it, or would you let it charge untouched?
Thanks for your reply

As the title says. How long does your battery take to charge? I was at like 10% yesterday, left it charging overnight (7 hours) and its still at 92%.... odd.
2 to 3 hours max

The battery on this phone is much larger than the battery in the Galaxy Nexus, so it will naturally take longer to charge.
It's like filling the gas tank on a car with a 10 gallon tank versus filling the gas tank on truck with a 20 gallon tank. There's more space available to fill, so it takes longer.

6 hours seems like too long.
With the stock 3100 mah battery, I discharged mine until it shut down, and put it on the charger, and booted it back up. This was at 9:54am. Now is is 11:39am, and it is at 85%. I figure about 2 hours (give or take) for a full charge. This is using the stock charger and cable. Note that the charger is a 10W charger (5V at 2.0A) - this is bigger than the chargers on my previous phones. Not sure if it is pushing the full 2 amps to the phone or not - Battery Monitor Widget Pro is indicating about 1300ma (not 2000ma), but I am not sure if this is showing the true current.

I'm not sure I understand your statement. If it takes 2.5 hours to charge a 3100 mah battery, it should take a little over 3 hours to charge a 3800 mah battery (assuming you aren't using it while it is charging).
Are you saying that the stock charger takes 6 hours to charge your extended battery?

It takes that long to charge with the stock charger. He said he's not using a stock charger. The charger he's using probably puts out power at a lower rate than the stock charger. This would cause the charging time to increase.
Now I understand. He is probably using a 1 amp charger - my Galaxy Nexus charger is a 5VDC, 1amp.
takes 2 hours from 20% so is safe to say that it will take 2:30min to fully charge for 0

Hello, dear XDA people!
I got my Z Ultra today.
YEEEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, had to do it..
Now, I come from Note 1....and I have a few questions...
one of them is about the first charge...
I tried to read as much as possible, but on the Sony website and the paper manual it says only how to regularly charge and that the green light means it is over 90 percent... AND it says that before first turning Z Ultra on, even though it comes with some charge in it already from the factory, the phone should be charged prior to first time power up...
Now, I did charge it, but it is only showing green light, and no percentage (Ultra is off, I haven't turned it on yet)...
How can I know it is charged fully?
I don't want to leave it plugged in too long, cause I read that batteries don't like that..
new charger
for new phone or smart phone ,first charge is 8 hour,ok

just fill it til full and detach it after full, no need to leave it for 8 hours. as per my experience, first charge will not retain battery level for long. it will come empty fast, This is normal, so just charge it again after drained for a while (maybe 50%) and it will be normal after that .

modern Lion batteries (lithium Ion batteries) don't have a memory. They can tend to think that they have a limit if you only charge it to say 80% all the time, but a full empty and then recharge will annul that. So there is no memory chip or anything.
So charge it to what ever you want..
Also FYI, the green LED turns on when it's reached 90%.
So no need to charge it until 8 hours?
Because i just buy Z Ultra. So raelly need to know for the first charge..
TQ

...just use it right out of the box. Newly sealed devices has about 45% battery life. And it was about what my device had when I unpacked it.
I did not charge it. I just went ahead and started using it until I needed to charge it.
I cannot quite remember if I rooted the device on my first cycle or if I charged it before I started.
I discovered that if you use a note 3 charger or tablet charger you phone charges faster obviously due to more amps.

the ZU will happily charge at 1800mA, I've not seen mine charge any faster than that, I'v not been brave enough to see if true fast charge will work

.........no you don't have to sit there with a timer and wait 8 hours on your first charge. The text refers as a "recommendation".
Your phone will not explode nor will it bend or void your warranty if you only charging it for 7 hours and 53 min or 3 hours the first time.
Hello guys, I bought this phone recently and I don't know if I'm having an issue or not.
The phone charges unusually fast either with the fast charger that came in the box or a normal one I have laying around. Even when fast charging neither the phone nor the charger get hot (the charger just a bit warm but that's it). I use a USB c cable I bought a while ago, not the one that came with the device, but it's supposedly a good quality one.
The thing is that the battery is understandingly discharging pretty fast. What could be the issue here? The cable? Battery calibration?

Way shorter than it's estimate. With a fast charger, from 50% to full in about 30 minutes, and that getting a bit warm. Not even the charger gets hot. With a normal charger it doesn't take much longer. Those are the things that seem suspicious to me.

That seems pretty normal to me. From 20 to full my RS988 charges in just over an hour. AFAIK it slows down the charge rate near the end.
I also get around 5 hours of SoT with casual use.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle with not so great battery life. Not much to complain really, the phone is excellent otherwise, and for 250 dollars it's a no brainer.
Thank you guys for your input!
