I got the Thunderbolt the first day it came out and I've loved it ever since. I rooted it early before there was a "one click" simple rooting tool using adb. I didn't flash any ROM's and played around with a few root apps. A Verizon update failed a few times so I unrooted the phone in an attempt to get the latest OS. Unrooting the phone didn't help so I just decided to live without the update since the first version had mobile hotspot for free. Mobile hotspot was all I really cared about so I left the phone unrooted. I now want to try some different ROM's so I rooted the phone and tried to flash some different ROM's. Everything went well up to the point that when I boot into another ROM, I get no service. Can anybody tell me why I get no service with the ROM's I've tried to boot? Verizon continues to try the update with no success. Even if I try to update from within my original ROM, it fails every time.

Are you unlocked and s off? The issue you are having with your signal may be because you need an updated radio.

Hi guys,
I managed to accidentally grab the ATT version of LiquidSmooth and flash it. Since then, I've had strange issues with service. Here's what I've tried:
Flashing (Verizon) versions of CM, LiquidSmooth, and Hyperdrive
Flashing the original and ME7 modems with Heimdall and Odin
Wiping data, system, caches, and fixing permissions before/after every flash
Randomly toggling Mobile Network settings (but I have no idea what I'm doing there)
[*[Searching everywhere I could think of on the forums
I had 0 service on either AOSP ROM I tried. Right now, I'm running Hyperdrive and getting weird results.
Sometimes it asks be to switch to "Global Mode" and shows that I'm roaming.
If I try to call, it says it can't find a mobile network and fails.
After leaving it sitting for a while (right after a clean flash), all the texts I missed came through.
If I try to text somebody, I'm warned that the mobile network is unavailable, but the text still goes through!
4G is working on Hyperdrive. Wifi still works on everything.
com.android.phone crashes when I try change the Network mode away from Global
I'd love to hear any suggestions you guys might have for me. Not sure what I have left to try.... is there a master reset for all of this?
Thanks!
EDIT
Some more details:
About Phone > Status in CM after fresh flash:
Network: Verizon
Signal Strength: 2147483647 (2^31 - 1) dBm, 255 (2 ^ 8 - 1) asu .......WHAT
Mobile network type: CDMA - 1xRTT:7
Service state: In service
Roaming: roaming
Mobile network: Disconnected
My phone number: something completely wrong
MEID, IMEI, ICCID are all there, but don't know how to tell if they're also whacked out
The APNs list is blank and my signal jumps between zero bars and a few bars + roaming. Call and text not working.
I've also attached my PIT file (grabbed with Heimdall). Have no idea how to read it.
Do you have a nandroid backup that includes your EFS partition? If so, I would try restoring it and seeing what happens. Sounds like something got out of whack in there and is giving your phone a hard time doing it's #1 job.
This is what ultimately switched me to the S4, my GNex randomly decided one day that it wasn't going to be a phone anymore, and I didn't have an EFS backup to restore in order to try and fix it.
Two things -
1. Always, always, always, make sure the ROM you are flashing is the correct ROM.
2. Always keep an ODIN file on handy of the full system image, here is the full MDK software, this WILL wipe all of your data - http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=237

I don't have a backup. That will definitely be the first thing I do when I get this working again.

1. I know. LiquidSmooth could have done a better job of linking to the right place on their post, but it was still really dumb on my part.
2. Thanks for this! It looks like I'll be able to try this out tonight (slow connection). The SD card data is safe right? Also, I'm just downloading the tar - not sure what the exe is for.
I haven't used Odin for this since it was on version 1.8 or something (now it's over 3)... it looks like I still just choose the tar from the PDA block and hit go... no specific other settings needed for this phone / flash, right?
No luck :/ . I unzipped the stock restore, flashed in Odin (PDA), and booted fine. I have 4G and texts working, but no calling (mobile network not available) and calling my phone goes straight to voicemail. Also, it's very adamant about keeping me in Global mode over LTE/CDMA. This is the same state I was in earlier while running Hyperdrive, except now I don't have root.
I feel like I've tried everything there is to try. Does anyone have any further suggestions?
Are there any areas of software that don't get reset when flashing the stock images in Odin, and that could have been corrupted from the bad flash?
Thanks.
It's probably also worth mentioning that I'm warned about there being no mobile network when I send texts. I can cancel the dialog and they still go through. People can text me without issues.

I had the same happen to me when I was working on getting radio on MIUI ROM, after tinkering with the Sprint version, only 4G would work, and occasionally roaming would work. Every time I tried to make a call, it told me there was no mobile network available, and it constantly tried to switch into Global Mode instead of CDMA/LTE.
Sadly, the only thing that worked for me was getting my phone replaced with a brand new one. If you find anything that works please be sure that you post it, because someone else may end up doing the same thing.

Did you get it replaced via warranty? If so, did you need to do anything besides flashing a stock image in Odin beforehand?
Maybe try flashing the stock rooted ME7 that includes the new radios? Couldn't hurt at this point.
Edit: whoops, saw you already tried that

Does anybody know whether ODIN / recovery deletes the partitions before writing new ones? If a file existed in the ATT rom, but not in the Verizon one, would it still be on my phone if I flashed the Verizon rom over the ATT one? Obviously this assumes a data / cache wipe in between. I'm really talking more about the other partitions.
Also, does anyone have any experience trying to get a replacement via warrantee after flashing? I've read all about the binary counter on our model, but didn't see any success / failure stories yet from people returning phones after flashing stock + unrooting.
Last question for now: is there any reason to believe that taking the recent update would help my situation? Maybe that could reset whatever is causing my calling issue.... just a random guess. I know that I'd lose any chance of getting root back (at least for a while).
Thanks again for the help guys!
Ok im at a loss and need a tad bit of help.
I have a Verizon Note 2 (i605) flashed to page plus. When I install a custom rom i lose mobile data says disconnected. But when I restore the stock rom it has mobile data. The stock rom seems to work fine for everything calls, data, text. I have tried Carbon, Cm10.2 nightly, Cleanrom, and a few others they get calls and text but mobile data says disconnected. What do I need to do to make this work. Do I need to change my apn settings everytime? Will changing the apn settings even work? I bought the phone on swappa and im very happy with it but i do want to enjoy it like my other phones. Do I need to put in a sim card in didn't come with one and as far as i can see it works without other than my issue here.
Anyone?
Hope you flashed new rom with cwm

Yes
I imagine that page plus uses a different apn then vzw. U can backup your stock rom apn. Check the market for a app to do so. Then restore it after u flash the new rom.
Did that with no success. Attempted manually entering the settings and no cake.
Same issue here. Custom ROM = No data.
Does anyone have CM 4.3 on page plus working with data?
will someone chime in please.
Still doesn't work. Any ideas? My brain hurts.
still not working.
Ok so I've been ring to upgrade my wife's phone to a new 4.3 rom. Loving Jett rom so far however I'm having problems with the 4.3 tar file. I'm faltering all the steps to flash it in odin and the rom inrecovery. Every time it would boot up everything would work great except text messaging. Sometimes It would receive a text but it would never send. I wiped everything including a factory reset from the settings menu with no luck. Only fix is to odin back to 4.1. And do a factory reset.
I thought it might be the rom so I flashed a few with the same results. So I tried just flashing the firmware tar file to check and booted into stock rooted 4.1 and could not send a text message. So I narrowed it down to the firmware package. I've tried downloading multiple times from different sources each time and checked the md5 same thing no text. If anyone can help me figure this out I would appreciate it.
So its been a bit is there anyone who is having this problem or possible know where I might start to try and fix this problem?

Hi everyone. I'm having some serious (or at least I think so) problems with my I777. I live in Colombia, and I bought it over two years ago, had it shipped over by a friend, unlocked. Up until today I'd been using it normally, without any major problems.
However, the last couple of days it started behaving strangely, (turning itself off every once in a while, losing data, etc), so I decided to update my rom today.
I tried to install a new CyanogenMod 4.4 from this site, but I got some kind of status 7 error and it didn't behave properly after that.
Next thing I did to try to fix it was flash a stock JB 4.1.2 rom via Odin.
It worked, but that's when the major problem struck... Apparently my phone got locked for AT&T again or something. It's not recognizing my sim-card anymore. It shows the "no-sim" notification on the top bar, yet it also shows it has a signal (no data, just phone signal), even when my sim-card isn't inserted. When I go in the settings to try to access the mobile networks it says insert sim card even when it's in there.
I did a lot of searching and I used GalaxSimUnlock, which I got from this site too, and it confirms my phone is unlocked.
So basically... What the heck happened?? Is it possible that after three years of using it perfectly with my Colombian sim, the AT&T lock just "came back" or something after flashing a stock rom?
Any clue guys?
If you used galaxsimunlock the unlock is permanent.

After you flashed back to stock, did you try to root again and flash another custom ROM?
I could be wrong on this, but the AT&T stock firmware may not be giving you the choice to register the SIM or change the APN settings for you particular network. I can't confirm this though as I never flash to stock long enough to actually use it. I always root and go back to something else immediately afterwards.
The only suggestion I have is to go back to a custom ROM and try again.
If you are trying to go to KitKat, be sure you have the newest compatible recovery (CWM or TWRP) as the versions of those that work with JB will not allow you to flash a KitKat ROM. There are plenty of threads that will tell you what versions you need. If it's an SGH-i777 model then all you should need to get the proper recovery is to flash one of the two KK compatible kernels as the recovery is packaged with them.
Good luck!
