Xiaomi Piston 2.0 Earphones - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Besides being the most amazing sounding earphones I've owned, the in-line remote/mic on the Xiaomi Piston 2.0 works perfectly on the N3, and they cost less than $30. Volume up/down, pause/play, next/previous and the mic all work. I had trouble finding non-bluetooth headphones that had all the working functions on Android. Even within Android, some controls work and others don't depending on the phone and ROM.
Here's a link to a great review by vectron on these.
The audio quality is amazing, I'm no audiophile, but these sound crazy good. Head-Fi has a great thread on them. Make sure to get the 2.0 version since there is a 1.0 version that isn't as good. Lot's of fakes out there, so they need to purchased from a reputable dealer. Anything for less than $22 are probably fakes, I got mine here.

Great deal. What country did you have them shipped to?
I know that $16 is the retail price in their supported markets like Singapore and Malaysia, that's why I warned anything less than $22 was probably fake because by the time it's shipped outside of China it would make no profit for the 3rd party seller.

I get them sent to hong kong, for the international site, I think they are working on it to provide online sales, you can probably contact them.
I think the xiaomiworld is a unofficial site, it's not theirs.
update, it's just a shop that stock xiaomi stuff, some of their information is not correct, so I don't really trust them.

PRoblem is that I can't really tell if they're fake since they don't have an international site for sales and I'm just left guessing on ebay.

I did I bunch of reading before buying mine because I was worried about the fakes. According to Head-fi, the site I got mine from and a couple others were guaranteed to be legit. I'm pretty sure xiaomiworld and ibuygou were legit too, but long shipping times.
Either way, less then $30 for these is crazy, no joke. Bonus- the carrying case smells like chocolate.

Forgot to mention that these are on Amazon, but you have to buy them from a trusted seller. According to the top review the seller Zhengnan'shop is legit. At least with Amazon you get better buyers protection than eBay.

All I can say is the sound quality you get from this headphones is equal to those which cost 4-5 times more, if you like bass, this headphones product a good amount of bass.
I use the supplied ear tips.

Just bought a pair for $22.99 included shipping from ibuyyou!
http://www.ibuygou.com/p-original_xiaomi_piston_earphone_updated_version_brown-5708-usd.html

from what I can gather, ibuygou is the only authorized seller that ships internationally. I believe penonaudio also sells legit pistons but they're more expensive nad I'm not sure if they're officially authorized.

I have ordered mine from merimobiles and I hope that they are legit. I think I will receive them next week. I have paid 20$.

My IF limited edition version, had 2 but a friend of mine took one.
These are the extra stuff you get from the IF version (LOGO):fingers-crossed:

So hard to know what is legit... well... you'll know after you use them for a bit.
I had gotten some Japanese headphones from ebay once... excellent sound but the head band snapped after three uses... contacted manufactor, found out they were fakes. They gave me the authentic pair for sending the seller info and the head phones. Found out later that their speaker manufacturer company was making fake head phones on the side and selling them. Just LOL.

Not that I think I'm entitled to a product at 1/3 the cost of its manufacture, but the tease is getting old...
(Not to mention, I really want to know how other people keep beating me to the punch. Are there really people out there that waste more time on gadget blogs/XDA than me?)
Well, I got two before the store opened at $99, saw geeksquad outside, asked a guy about it, and he offered to sell me early. Got home and saw the pricing error, I really hope the guy doesn't get in trouble, but I got two. I feel bad but is was an honest mistake.
Got one before store opened as well. 99....guess I got lucky.

I've always wondered what the laws/courts specifically say about situations like this. While I understand that businesses shouldn't be held to honest mistakes. What if a typo or printing error meant a car dealer had to sell all his cars for $1, he would obviously go out of business if he was required to honor the advertisement.
On the other hand, somebody can definitely claim intentional false advertising or a bait-and-switch type thing. Get people to the store, then say "Ohhh, it was a mistake . . . but why don't you buy it anyway for full price while you're here?"
I was told that i will be given credit of $200 for price adjustment this morning. Hopefuly they carry through with it.
Otherwise, I'm prepared to pay the $300 like I agreed to in the beginning. I just hope they don't eff things over like they have a reputation for doing.
Just bought one for 99.99 from a best buy "vending machine" in the las vegas airport!
Pretty lucky if I do say so myself.
I got one as soon as the store opened. They honored the shelf price, then took down the $99 tag.
They canceled my online order .

No way. The Flyer is head and shoulders better than the Touchpad - no matter how good the Cyanogenmod group is, it will always be a hack. The Flyer is purebred Android through and through.

It depends on the applicable consumer protection laws--those usually differ from state to state (not that greatly) but it is general practice to honor the advertised price. There's mostly case law on it, but it's arguable to a point.
Contracts was so long ago ...
This, the Touchpad firesale and especially the Amazon Fire (250k orders in 5 days) send the industry (and hopefully HTC) a clear message: people want low priced tablets.
Exactly... they expected me to pay the same amount on the tablet as I did for my laptop, which can perform better in every single category (even in battery life).
(Acer 4820TG with SSD)
And who cares about the "iPad killer?" It pisses me off how many companies and review sites use Apple as the standard for everything. The only reason why they're successful is that they actually use common sense when designing their products and they come out with products BEFORE everyone else (which I think is kinda important).
Just make an attractive device without the iPad's price tag!

Yes, and compared to the Flyer, the Fire is a slower and limited device. Your get what you pay for
The Flyer is a fine device at $300. Any lower has to be a loss, based on quality and features of the device.

Having to honor the advertised price is what I would think, from what little I know about the consumer protection laws. But it seems this kind of thing happens all the time, where retailers state that an advertised price was an error. I'm on Newegg's email list, and it seems like every couple months they send out a message saying so-and-so price was an error, and they apologize, blah blah. It would seem that these retailers would be out of business, if they had to honor every advertised price that was a mistake. And the mistake might not even be theirs, but the fault of an ad agency, typo in newspaper, etc.
I wonder if promptly sending out a correction helps their case? Conventional wisdom (which of course does not always apply to the law!) would seem to dictate that making a conscious effort to quickly inform the public of the error, would help deflect any claims of intentional false advertising.
What's crazy us that if you look it up via the mobile app, it is still listed at $99. I have mine already, but seeing that price is tempting.

I can't even purchase it on the mobile. I couldn't get pass the log in stage.

We only have 32gb with dock, and 64gb without dock, both packages priced the same.
there are 332 back ordered at blt and only 209 coming
I bought mine from this guy. I personally had a great experience with the transaction and received tracking information very promptly. I have no idea how this happened but I received it in about 8 days. I was expecting it to take at least 5 days to clear US customs alone and wasn't really expecting it's arrival so quickly. Your mileage may vary.
The Chinese symbols don't bother me very much. I don't really look at the keyboard when I type anyway.

Prime Manufacturing Rumors

Scratch all that as well, here's a quote from a Best Buy employee in this thread:
Quixion2008 said:
As a current Best Buy employee(Senior at Purdue University(Seasonal employee)...(the same on helping a good amount of this forum get grey docks ahead of schedule) I believe I can shed some light on this issue. Today while using our inventory management software (RSS) I looked up the grey 32 TF201. In BEST BUYS system the sku has been DISCONTINUED. This generally happens when we are no longer receiving that particular model of a computer or tablet physically in stores in the future. This is, in my opinion, not what is going on. As most have noticed the grey 32 prime has been pulled from BBY.com. Only the CG is even on the site. The grey was taken down and given a "secret sku" that was to be used for those who had pre ordered a CG and were given the opportunity to switch to grey. This sku has gotten out to the forums and has been being used to order grey 32 primes online through BBY.com. I suspect BBY is changing the sku so this can no longer be done, and giving the prime a dedicated sku for in store availability which should be occurring within the next 2-3 weeks.
The prime is here to stay.

Also, I never knew this forum was fulled with /b/tards. Shoulda inb4 OP is a troll.
Scratch all that, just talked to a support rep. They're done manufacturing the First model of it. They've got a second model they're planning to roll out this month (just like ICS would be available before the end of the year). That would explain why Best Buy assumed it's done, discontinued the first version of the TF201. Perhaps a TF211? Feel free to call 'em up and ask if it's been discontinued. They should respond with something along the lines of Lol new model! Or something to that effect. Waiting for a supervisor to call me up tomorrow.
Just got off the phone the Best Buy.com floor manager, and *apparently* Asus is no longer manufacturing the Prime. I wanted to return it for a REPLACEMENT, and nobody could answer one simple question: Do you have one in stock to replace it with? I got to the supervisor and he simply told me it was done, gave me a direct number to Asus. He also told me to file an RMA and that Asus would try to fix it, and if they couldnt, then I'd get a same or better one.
Great.
I'm calling Asus to see what's up. I'll update the OP with more info. I want my damn Prime fixed...
I'd appriciate it if someone else called Best Buy to see if this true. Get to a live person, and ask for their supervisor. The guy I got was 'Micheal'. Be sure to ask for his name to see if it's the same guy. Thanks
lol.

that's because thing is littered with some minor manufactured defects.
oh well, at least it will go up in value
also I bet HASBRO had something to do with this too. Glad I got mines before the court ordered junction was put in place.
LOL, please don't tell me your gonna believe this? Then Asus will probably also be done.
Just delete useless threads like this, thanks.
One thing you should learn pretty quickly is to never believe anything a dumb store manager or CSR tells you.
Im guessing they think they are talking about the OG transformer.

if anything bby doesn't have a proper in store stock date so their system is screwed up. no one on CS or at the store level has any idea of what's going on as far as manuf or actual stock beyond what their inventory system shows them, and that system is a piece of crap (unless they updated it significantly after i quit from there, which i doubt)
the only actually plausable thing one can take from this is they are for some reason giving the new batches a different sku and discontinuing the old one.

Yeah best buy also told me that Asus wasn't coming out with the Prime back in december.
Major bugs, horrible design flaw and dishonest sales tactics mixed together with a name that is clearly ripped off from hasbro will lead to its demise.
Prime could have been a real winner but Asus just couldn't live up to it.
They will probably stop making the current bugged out and defective units and redesign it with a plastic back and rename it to the Asus Tranny.

A few weeks ago, I started hearing an echo on my original headset - no bass, no stereo output and very low volume levels. I was able to determine that the cable connection to the iBeats headset had a short or break. I used some ultimate ears for a while, but totally missed the Beats sound.
I submitted a warranty replacement request with HTC last Thursday and didn't hear a thing from them until yesterday when my replacement headset arrived on my doorstep. In order to receive the headset before returning the original, I had to allow a credit card authorization.
The headset I just received is totally crap. Not iBeats. I'll upload a picture once I get to my desk. I have 15 days to return my original headset before I am charged.
You will not believe that HTC was prepared to charge me $100 for this headset.
I am not sure what to do next? Walk 15 blocks to the nearest VZW store to get actual iBeats, if they even have? Write an angry letter? This headset is definitely going back, but at my cost. So disappointed and angry right now.

Are the ibeats under warranty? If so, I would definitely go into a store and talk with someone, they added 100 dollars to the price of the phone for those headphones, and the replacement ones look like they came from a vending machine

Yea thats not good Im waiting for my replacement and I hope I dont get those
That is terrible, Wookie. Hope that 3rd party purchase comes through for you, got trolled by HTC pretty bad there.
I'd have gone through Verizon in the first place so they'd know what's up on this warranty replacement, but if you directly went through HTC, shoot an email to them ASAP. Try and get things straightened out with them in a precise and firm (not angry) letter - a technical letter as if for a defense in court. Apparently HTC has ditched packing some of the Sensation and Rezound phones with Beats, and gave you the "current in-box" model. Need to specify and make it abundantly clear you have the OEM Monster iBeats designed for Verizon's Rezound and that these are not "functionally equivalent" in terms of sound quality of the speakers themselves and form factor of the earbud housing/soft tips. You ought to be recouped your shipping costs as this is their error (not legally, but as a goodwill gesture for what they are putting you through.)
As a Verizon customer, I'd let them hear about the "unacceptable customer service you're experiencing with the OEM of a device marketed exclusively for their network in the US." This is negligent behavior for a device you specifically paid extra for to get an "enhanced audio experience straight out of the box."
Going in person to a Verizon store is usually the best way to get things done, and I mean those larger, corporate repair center type stores, not the little mom-and-pop Authorized Retailer ops.
Sorry for double posting, but on a seperate yet relevant tangent...
Should you have filed a warranty claim with Verizon or Monster directly rather than HTC? And the warranty booklet I dug out with mine says PCD is who grants a one year warranty on the device. Worth checking out.
I had the exact same problem with my first pair. I brought them in to a Verizon store and walked out with a replacement set, no charge as they were on warranty. Try the VZW store.

yeah, if someone came to me with this problem, i'd be like , goto a corporate store. nothing i can do, broseph gordon levitt.
Thanks for the input so far. I'll head to the corporate store to see what I can do. It's a good walk.
Now that I've had a chance to calm down, I'll probably contact HTC again regarding the ticket and have it canceled after I return this headset.
FYI, the CSR I spoke to at HTC went on and on about how good the iBeats headset was, so I doubt this was a simple error. He was clear on the fact that I was expecting the original series of iBeats replaced.
The only reason I went to HTC in the first place was because I thought I'd get better service from them than from VZW...

Could it be as simple as a packaging problem? Someone grabbed the wrong pair and sent it out?
I saw it here before, but try being respectful and give them the benefit of the doubt here before you go all ballistic and raise hell.
If you need help with HTC pm me and I'll give you a name and email to someone within HTC.

Don't go to the VZ store they won't do anything because the warranty is from HTC. Call HTC back and tell them they sent the wrong ones. The should pay for the shipping since they sent the wrong thing. And they might even do rush shipping since you already waited and got the wrong thing. When I dealt with HTC they were very nice and helpful. Just give them a call back.

Hey those are the same exact HTC headphones that came with my Eris like 2.5 years ago! Yeah, those are total ****.
Go through VZW for the replacement. worked for me the first time, im gonna try again soon as the same thing that happened with my first pair happened to the replacements, one earbud is MUCH louder than the other. They come with a 1yr warrenty with the phone so you should be good with that

I actually bought a pair of these as well. I'll probably give them to my daughter - she has an iPhone, so they will work properly for her.

I had no problem getting my replacement from HTC they were very helpful. Call them back, like I said they will fix it and pay to ship back the wrong ones they sent and will most likely rush the new pair out.

That sucks..... Alot......
I would be really mad.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt, but the packaging you see in the pic was what was sent, in a padded manila envelope. There was no way you could send the headset and not know that it was a standard headset.
I am not saying it's inexcusable. Just saying that it was a difficult mistake to make that costs me time and money.

The Dr Dre Beats line of headphones are possibly the most overrated/overpriced headphones out there. If you like your music compressed to death and with so much bass you feel like you're at a club, then they're perfect for you. The iBeats are better than most cheap earbuds, but they still give me moderate ear fatigue.

ear fatigue, never thought of that term, but you're so right...after like an hour or so of listening, i do have to adjust them or take them out for a bit.

Accessories The best protection for your Galaxy S23 Ultra from Texas - Caseborne by ArmadilloTek [SPONSORED]

(To Mod/admin, We have talked to the marketing guy for this thread, and got approved, please don't delete)
It is Karl from Caseborne by ArmadilloTek Inc.
I'm a guy from Texas with a passion for creating the best-rugged phone case. After years of success with our beloved Vanguard case, I took a risk and redesigned it to make it even better. I focused on making it more modern and simple while providing the crazy rugged protection you need. The result? A case that's 20% lighter and thinner but just as tough as ever.

Despite creating one of the best-rugged cases out there, not many people know about us. It takes a lot of money and marketing skills to break through in this competitive market.
There are many brands that brag about how durable their cases are, but neither of them shows you anything.
I don't have money or marketing skills, all I can do is smash my phone in my cases.
Hopefully, people will give us their business.
Check my video (ignore how silly I am)

One More Thing
I understand someone hates to use cases, so I created another brand www.thinborne.com, which is super thin and made of aramid fiber. 0nly 0.03 inches thick and 0.46 oz!
If you guys know about latercase or Pitaka, yes, we are better!
As we do a 3-round quality check on every single case, and we are a U.S. small business with families living in Texas!
There is a story about the real reason. Join the group you will know! (Yes, I am a special troll).

Not a big fan of rugged cases, but would love to try and review the thinborne case
EDIT: Just read that thinborne case testing is US Only, unfortunately not EU
I put my name in the hat for this. I have done this for free cases on several phones that I have had in the past and so far, none of the deals have been flaky. Several have been great cases that I still use (the brands).
Always happy to help and offer constructive and detailed feedback.
I shot an email about the Vanguard rugged case. I usually use Spigen Tough Armor cases but would be happy to try yours and report back. Definitely have always been a fan of heavy duty cases (my usage of which is probably why I've never cracked a screen or gotten worse than a scratch on my phones).
This sticky is as close to spam as it gets. They pulled off the same thing with the S22U release. Offered a few free cases and then let the thread run long after they gave away those cases. That gave false hope to many and free advertising for Caseborne.
And why is this a sticky? This should be an accessory topic.
I would like to give it a try. I would give the case a good workout, as I do Industrial Maintenance. So, im constantly working in and on machinery and in need of a good case that will protect the S23 Ultra
Mine will be here tomorrow, so am excited to see what these are like!
I'll post pics and thoughts, but will have to wait until I get the phone to truly test them out. However, I am wondering if it will fit my wife's N22U. LOL!
I got my order in as well. Amazon shows they are arriving on Thursday. These cases look cool, I'm excited to give them a shot.
If it's not too late, I'd like to join the program as well - my Note 10+ in Spigen case fell on concrete 2 weeks ago and the back of the phone is broken now, so I've decided to bite the bullet and get S23U to finally upgrade (still crying because of no SD Card slot on new Galaxies), so just signed up and looking for additional info.
Edit: Post deleted because it's off-l topic I can't discuss it further

I just went through the hoops to get this and got the email on how to receive my "free" case and this is COMPLETELY against Amazon's ToS by buying an item in exchange for a review and receiving your money back outside of Amazon. This is also how scammers get a lot of good reviews on Amazon by giving crap away for a good review. Then switch the listing to something completely different and have a ton of good reviews.

The instructions make clear that they are interested in feedback given to them, *not* reviews. Amazon also allows reviews for free product as long as it's disclosed by the seller. Asking for the order number could be to ensure that the order is marked as such.

The only time that Amazon allows for a free product like that is if the refund is given through Amazon this is explicitly stated that the refund is outside of Amazon

Well again, the instructions don't say anything about wanting reviews, they want feedback.
"We are not interested in reviews, just want to learn your thoughts about our new product lines."
No Amazon terms violation.

I have applied for the rugged case as i also have the Samsung official rugged case coming soon for my S23 Ultra and a whitedome screen protector.

@hand-filer Just for your information. As this thread's title clearly indicates it's a thread of one of the authorised sponsors of this private website; a reason why this thread also has been stuck in this forum.
If you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact me privately. I'm also happy to bring you in contact with our advertisement department if you intend to promote your products on XDA and to post at prominent locations.

I think this falls in a loop-hole. TECHNICALLY, there is NO REFUND being given at all. You put the items in your cart, send them the information (totals) and they FUND YOU BEFORE YOU BUY, so there is no refund, so to speak.
The Order ID is to make sure you use the funds provided to order and they can tell if you asked for a refund with your order number and then talk to you about getting their money back.
I have done this deal several times for various phones and have never had an issue, so this is not SPAM as it is a Legit ask from someone, who obviously, went through the proper process with XDA to post this and offer this to their users.
I was hoping the cases would arrive today (Amazon states that it should be here by 9pm, but it is still in SHIPPED status and not Out for Delivery), but more likely will arrive tomorrow and I will give these a serious look and provide the feedback they asked for in return for the free cases.
I'm waiting for a follow up email from the guy
I've had no follow up on this either
