I have been running the same build of CM11 since February with few issues. However for the past couple of weeks my phone has been randomly freezing but no harm was done as a battery pull / reboot would simply fix the issue until the next occurrence.
This morning a freeze occurred during normal use of my phone but after rebooting it would always hang on the CM loading screen. I booted into recovery and flashed an old version of CM10 successfully and everything seemed to be working.
This evening I attempted to flash a new build of CM11 however something went wrong during the data wipe I performed before installation of the new ROM. Since that point I cannot flash any ROM because my phone will always freeze after about 30 seconds of being booted inside recovery mode.
Download mode seems to work perfectly and I have successfully flashed CWM 6.0.3.2 and CWM 6.0.4.7 but both still freeze after about 30 seconds of being booted into them.
Has anyone had this issue or can offer help?
Sounds like nand memory has bad blocks. Try flashing a full stock rom with Odin.

You could well be right about it being a NAND issue, I guess time will tell if I continue getting random freezes.
I flashed a full stock ROM according to your suggestion and ended up with a non-functioning ROM but a functional stock recovery. I then did a factory reset from within the stock recovery which seemed to work. I also formatted my external SD card just in case. I then flashed a custom recovery via Odin and it was fully functional.
Now happily running CM11 again!

Hi there,
I got my SGS3 on Friday, it took two hours until I got bored and rooted it.
First everything was fine, I was using CWM (installed via ROM Manager) and tried some ROMS.
Today, when I wanted to flash CWM Touch via ROM Manager, the phone rebooted and since then in stuck in a boot loop.
There was no error during the process, according to ROM Manager the recovery was properly flashed. All I can do is entering the Download Mode.
I tried to flash two different stock images via ODIN3 (v3.07) but the phone keeps rebooting, even when i try to repartition it using "GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit". I can boot the phone into recovery, I can see the recovery for a short moment and then the phone reboots. I made it to flash CWM 6.0.3.1 via ODIN, and when booting into recovery then I can see that it worked, but after a second the phone reboots.
Currently I'm downloading a 3-part/3-files factory image, hoping this can help. According to what I've read on the forums so far I don't think it will change anything, but who knows... Any other suggestions?

rom manager is not supported on all the phones. probably that should have damaged your phone. hope you get your phone working. good luck :good:
I was using CWM (installed via ROM Manager)
Remove rom manager .
CWM says
Not compatible with ROM Manager !
That is if you recover from damaged pit .

Hey guys,
thanks so far... According to the CWM homepage the SGS3 is supported, in fact there's current even a newer CWM version available for SGS3 than for GNEX.
Fortunatly I just made it to un-soft-brick the device:
- Removed the battery for a few minutes, then placed it back in the phone (for some reason the phone often booted as soon as the battery was back in its place, so I had to be quick).
- Tried to reboot into recovery again, holding "Vol+"+"Home"+"Power" until the recovery showed up, and the phone rebooted.
- Kept on holding "Vol+"+"Home"+"Power" until recovery showed up again, for some reason the phone didn't reboot this time, and then I released all buttons.
- Thanks to ODIN I could now use CWM 6.0.3.1 to flash S4 Revolution (by Elegant Team) from my internal storage, rebooted the phone and it worked. All my data was still in place, so it seems all my attempts to flash the stock images via ODIN did not succeed, save for the stock recovery.
Crap, I was really afraid of having my brand-new SGS3 hard-bricked only a few days after delivery. With my HTC Desire HD it took me almost 6 months to cause the first almost-brick.
There's only one thing I can image with ms SGS3 that might have affected the CWM / ROM Manager flash - I was running a S4-ported ROM ("S4 Revolution"), because this makes "TriangleAway" recognize it as "I9500" phone, so I cannot reset the counter at the moment.
But ROM Manager always showed "GT-I9300"... So in the end I've no clue what has happened so far.

don't use rom manager
So I've got this issue I never had before.
It started happening after I screwed something up with the EFS I think.
I was flashing some custom roms after the 4.3 official update and then tried to go back to 4.1 official.
Had the no network problem, but fixed it flashing the vodafone stock 4.3 official again.
Reading all the stuff about EFS confused me, and I deleted the EFS folder and copied an old backup (or so I think, because I'm not sure. I had a EFS backup on my sdcard and extsd I think).
I no longer have the no network issue, but everytime I flash a stock rom through Odin the phone gets stuck at the samsung logo, so I have to root the phone and install TWRP using Odin and then wipe. I know this way fixes this, but what I'm looking for is to fixed the problem completely so I don't have to install a custom recovery or root after using Odin to go back to official samsung rom.
Any ideas?
What should I do?
Maybe the phone gets stuck at the samsung logo because all of this EFS thing, but, like I said, I no longer have the no network issue.
All I want is for the phone to boot normally into the setup after flashing a samsung rom using Odin.
It just gets stuck every single time since I had this problem with the EFS, when before this never happened.
try to install the rom in recovery mode

I had this problem before (flash 4.1.2 in current 4.2.2 by odin), here's my solution.
Maybe you can install your ROM in recovery mode. (CWM based)
Remember to wipe completely before installing

I can flash custom roms through TWRP, but what I'm looking for is to be able to do so again through Odin without ending up stuck at boot always and having to wipe through TWRP to be able to boot properly.
Any ideas?
I'm sure there must be a fix so I don't get stuck at the boot screen after flashing a samsung rom with Odin.
I know the trick wipe factory reset but what I really want is to simply avoid getting stuck at the boot screen after flashing a samsung rom with Odin.

Factory reset is also available in default recovery as well, then what is the issue? Flash then boot to recovery do factory reset.

Thanks.
I'm just trying to find out why my SGS3 now gets stuck at boot when before it never happened.
I'm hoping there's a way to fix it and go back to before, when it never got stuck at boot. There should be a way I guess.
Hi everyone
My sister updated her MEGA OTA last month. She cant remember which version she was on. I am assuming it was 4.3. shes doesnt know much,
Her phone got stuck in bootloop.
Initially a got a hard time even getting into restore mode. however after a lot of goggling and trials and errors here is where i am today :
1- I can install TWRP and/or Philz recovery and boot into them.
2- I can enter download mode
3- I have tried installing many ROMS and different versions. I was only partially successful with 4.4 versions because I get a passed message in Odin however upon restart the phone enters boot loop again.
4- I have tried multiple wipe data/dalvik cache/cache and restoring factory settings but i still get the same results.
5- Only in Philz recovery i can mount the external SD card and copy zip files. I was able to root the phone that was (but im not sure if it still is). However all ROMs zip files I tried to install (both from PC and from extSD card) wouldnt open in recovery mode.
Because I get a passed message when I install a ROM from Odin , I dont know what the issue could be. But there is something wrong that happens as soon as this phone boots up.
I seriously do not know what to do anymore. I just need this phone to be working again. At this point I dont care about warranties/ROM versions/stock or custom...
Please help and sorry for my bad English
It sounds like you need to download the stock rom and flash it in Odin (you gotta put the phone in download mode to flash in Odin). The stock rom can be found on the sammobile website in the firmware section. That should get you back to square one (stock rom, stock recovery, no root). Then you start over from scratch.

I did and I still get the same problem.
In fact after installing stock rom, i could not enter "stock" so I installed philz recovery, logged in philz and wiped cache a couple of time, did a factory reset.
and yet when i restart , the phone is stuck in bootloop.
Maybe she has a Galaxy Mega with a repaired screen. Starting with 4.4 Samsung only supports a digitizer with Synaptics brand chip. It's a big mess and there are countless screens and digitizers made worthless. I think unofficial 4.4 by Cyanogen and others might work, but not official Samsung. With some Galaxy Megas you get a bootloop. With others it boots however the digitizer and touch functions no longer work. I don't know how to go back after you are on official 4.4 because last I saw, there was no root for it. If I'm wrong, someone else please clarify and continue to help.
IMHO only one way out from such situation is try to flash MegaFire MJ2 which is derived from stock 4.2. It's only one 4.2 ROM which can be safely flashed onto KK.
Iformation about MegaFire you can find HERE
Hello everyone,
I own a samsung galaxy s2 gt-i9100 I've been using it for a long time. A few days ago i installed cynogenmod 13 marshmallow on it but faced some severe issues like dialler problems, battery drain, google play services not working. So, i switched it back to my previous rom i.e. cm 12.1 lollipop but my old twrp recovery got replaced by cynogenmod default recovery. Now some people who may have used it know that its very basic and does not has backup, restore, has bugs, does not flashes some zips or files that i wanted so i tried to replace it with twrp/cwm through rashr, flashify, rom manager, etc. But none of it worked, whenever I'd boot after flashing the twrp/cwm recovery it'll go back to the default cynogenmod recovery. Now, me not knowing what im doing stupidly downloaded mobile odin lite app then i downloaded the cwm kernel recovery kitkat compatible and installed via mobile odin lite. After that it got screwed, it won't just startup it'll just start and go into recovery i mean continuously! It was annoying, then i read an article on a forum to download any cm nightly or stable mod and flash it but i did a little bit of tweak of removing the recovery boot img file with twrp to get preinstalled twrp recovery but i gotta admit it was the last mistake possible. Now i sit here, with a bricked phone in my hand which is looping continuously only on the samsung logo. If anyone out there can assist me correctly it'll be a life saver for me. Thanks for reading this and please reply with a solution asap. Please! Im in danger!
can you get into download mode?
if yes you can download a stock firmware and flash but you will have to hope it will work, otherwise you will get stuck on nand write start which means the nand is stuffed/corrupted and then basically only a motherboard replacement will do the job, or you can try using another computer, reinstall usb drivers..
can you get into recovery mode?
if you can, you can flash a rom
The 'nand stuffed' assumption is a last resort, tried everything and nothing works assumption. There is *plenty* to try before assuming that the nand is 'stuffed'......
It sounds like (from your description) that you may have rendered recovery useless and inaccessible.
I've a feeling what you need to do is to go into download mode and Odin flash a firmware.
Even if it doesn't boot, you should have a recovery that you can flash PhilZ recovery from and then use that to flash a custom rom. Initially, I'd stay away from the MM builds and instead flash something KK or LP based as they're less 'volatile' and have a higher degree of stability than the MM roms.

Hi All, I need help. I am using Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H and about 2 weeks ago my phone decided to crash and was stuck in a boot-loop, i wiped everything and it was still giving me problems then after a day it finally switched, then randomly crashed again after 30 mins, it kept doing that repeatedly and now it switches off immediately when i switch it on, unless if i can quickly switch to Ultra-power saving mode before it shuts down, and while its on Ultra-power save it works just fine.
Any Solutions or Theories of what could be the problem?
The Most Common Cause of This Type of Error Would be a Bad file in the system. This happened to me on my old Mobile. But after flashing a New System. It started Working again. The other cause might be your Apps but that is highly unlikely because according to you.You wiped the apps and all it's files so your phone is clean.I would recommend flashing a new firmware via odin or other tool and then flashing TWRP or another custom Recovery.Just In Case something get loose again. And I would recommend installing a custom rom due to the stability and the tweaks(mostly the stability?

I use 6.0.1 so i tried downloading the Official Kitkat rom and the situation did not change.
Have you tried any custom ROM.
Sent from my GT-I9060I using Tapatalk
The problem is that the phone crushes while its installing because i use TWRP. The only way i can flash a rom safely is through Odin, of which Custom Roms require a Custom Recovery.
I installed TWRP and it showed this error while trying to flash a cutom rom: "e:// failed to mount storage/cache"
Problem is in the cache partition.
Either a Bad TWRP.
Or a Suicide file in Cache is preventing this.
Now I get it why The Ultra Power Saving Mode only works.
As soon as the phone and apps Start forming Cache. The mobile crashes.
Now try to format cache or Navigate it to and try to Match files with another mobile.
