What kind of stuff are you looking for? I've been adding Halo to ParanoidAndroid and building for Moto X and Nexus 5, and I recently posted a guide on cherry-picking features. I've also spent a lot of time teaching anyone who's come to me for help with their own development related questions.
I'd be happy to help develop for your models, but I don't own any myself.

Hi Jabza,
Thanks for the Reply. Our first priority as of now is to provide quick upgrades to KITKAT and which ever update google comes out with and be the first one to do so. Secondly we want to add more features requested by users.every week. so we want to make it a user developed Android experience. We also want to dabble with fingerprint unlock, and the recent features added with the IOS 8.
Are you based in INDIA ?.

Thats ok. Its just that we wont be able to meet. If you are interest maybe we can have a little chat on skype or gtalk.
I would love to have you onboard . And hopefully others from open source community at XDA. We are an indian company but we can surely work something out with you .
Can you email me at [email protected]. with your skype or gtalk id. We can have a chat and take things from there yes ?
Wait so youre an actual company....producer of devices like Wickedleak Wammy Passion X? So really you'd be profiting off xda users that possibly join your team....or are you planing on hiring said users?
Give Back to Open Source
Hi Shiny Side,
Yes we are a Company Based in India. You are coorect,We recently Lauunched Wammy Neo as well. We intend to share profits and made from custom roms with all developers and credit for the same as well. You can quote me on this. I love the hacker way and we want to give back. Obviously this also benefits Wickedleak. but ofcourse we are looking to create a win win. The popular custom rom developers for us will be most valuable and we will look to hire them as they will be indespensable. All we want is to delight the customers and get you on board. Profit we create win-win and share. Do email me and lets get talking.

Hi,
Your project seems interesting and I'd love to be a part of it.. I've posted a couple of tutorials on building kernel, roms and have built kitkat from source for the mt6589.
Regards.
Will you also share the framework sources with community ?
The by far most annoying issue with MTK sources is that it's almost exclusively kernels, with no framework source code.
P.S.:
I considered buying Faea when they promised source codes and Cyanogen, but so far they have not delivered
If you do share sources, I will definitely buy a phone of yours (and do my best to make you noticed by the Russian MTK enthusiast community)

KERNAL? What is it?
Did you mean KERNEL?
Where guys are you taking this misspelling?!?

Why not? I am with you.
Of course many people would say that there are very good kernels already delivered but it could be interesting to try.
The fact you called it 'Kernal' means this project won't get any further. Plus, there is a development version of ICS being made right now, if you can contribute then I suggest you look for the suggested thread and speak to them.
Good news guys.
The 3.4 kernel sources are avaliable: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
The petition;:
Hello everybody!
As some of you know, I already started to work on CM10.1, but i stuck while HTC don't share the 3.4.0 JB kernel sources.
The kernel licensed under GNU GPL, but HTC violate this license. 3.4.0 JB kernel released about 2 months ago, but they didn't share the sources yet. I tried to talk with them, but they didn't help me. Now i would like to ask you for help. I hope, if you help me, and we fight together, we will get the sources and I can make a fine CyanogenMod 10.1.
Please help us with these steps:
1. step:
Sign and share this petition: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/htc-desire-x-protou-kernel-source.html
2. step:
Send this letter for HTC here: http://www.htc.com/us/contact/email/
Please select the United States as your country, because in some country they can't help us.
So the letter: (Thanks for @ekulnitsua)
Dear HTC,
We appreciate the good quality, look and feel and the design of HTC smartphone products. That’s why our developers have created many ROMs for the phone with the Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) Kernel source code, but currently our developers are left unable to continue further.
An official HTC Desire X (codenamed proto) Jelly Bean (4.1.1) OTA (Over-The-Air) update was released almost two months ago on the 27th of March, 2013, and subsequently updated and rolled out throughout the Desire X userbase. The htcdev.com website, however, has still not been updated with the matching kernel source.
As we are sure you are aware, Android is an open-platform and is based on the GNU/Linux Kernel. The Linux kernel is licensed under GNU General Public License v2 or GPL (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html), which, as such, means that you are legally obliged to release the source code for any derivative work within a reasonable time frame.
This, however, is not just a legal obligation; developers are working hard to bring new ROMs and continue support to your devices, which many of your customers are eager to use. By releasing the kernel source code you can improve our experiences with the device and with HTC as a company. The very openness of Android is intended to draw many people and by withholding kernel source code you are ultimately alienating your customers who may move on to purchase devices made by a different company (e.g. a Google Nexus device with pure and newest Android).
We appreciate that you have made a commitment to aid us in the development of firmware by allowing for the unlocking of the bootloader, but without the Kernel sources such gestures remain severely hampered. Similarly, we are grateful that you are continuing to support the Desire X and it’s community, but we would all be happier if your continued support was not only directed at your customers, but also in the spirit of Linux and as required by copyright law.

Well written ekulnitsua, I hope that it will make them worry about this problem. I would wait for a reply and then (if they won't share kernel sources) report to GNU.
They haven't even released JB rom worldwide so dont expect kernel sources to come so fast.. They will release it when JB has reached to all the parts of the world.
Renowned companies like HTC usually comply with the licenses. They have a good image. Just wait for some time...
@deathnotice01 we need ur skill here
Just sharing my Idea Peace
Dear HTC,
First of all Good Day! I have used HTC Devices since 2011 and I have liked the way you guys made HTC Sense and all the components that make your devices run better than others. Starting from Froyo to Jelly Bean I have an HTC Device. A few weeks ago my friend received an OTA (Over the Air Update) for JellyBean (Android 4.1.1) and HTC Sense 4+ this update was great! it made the device smoother and cleaner and more battery efficient, even though there were some "minor" bugs this update stood out and made me more proud of my HTC Desire X, obviously this was better than Ice Cream Sandwich which came stock on the Desire X, I wrote this letter to ask you guys to please update the Kernel Sources for Jelly Bean which came with the new 3.4 kernel if Iam not mistaken.
I'am sure that you guys are aware, Android is an an open source operating system (OS) based on the GNU/Linux Kernel. he Linux kernel is licensed under GNU General Public License v2 or GPL (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html), which, as such, means that you are legally obliged to release the source code for any derivative work within a reasonable time frame.
This however is only a request. Developers are working hard to make new ROMs for the HTC Desire X and continue support to your wonderful device. By releasing the kernel source code you can improve user experience to your device and help developers in the process.
We appreciate the things that you have done for your devices and maintaining them by series of updates and making them better everytime.
But without the Kernel sources such gestures remain severely hampered. Similarly, we are grateful that you are continuing to support the Desire X and it’s community, but we would all be happier if your continued support was not only directed at your customers, but also in the spirit of Linux and as required by copyright law.
Yours Sincerely,
The xda-developers community.

I think so too. Why should they share their sources now if we don't complain? We should decide. Either make only one letter for the whole community, or as many letters as possible so that they'll have enough to read.

Well personally HTC would not care for our letters anyway because look at this OTA? NeXus PRIME is right 45 days is promised to spread the update world wide its been 60 days and still nothing I have also done the same thing for the Desire C users ( I was supposed to buy that if i never knew HTC has a stock of DXs ) and they never responded But those kernel sources would be awesome
But its worth a shot
Peace dont flame me XD
And what should I put in the letter its asking for my full name should I put XDA-Developers? Or my name? thanks
Well ... released in all countries or not , it's still released out there and it's licensed under GPL . The product is officially out there but the sources are not . It's not like it's in a beta test or anything , at least not officially . A release has been made , regardless of its bugs , and the kernel sources should have been provided as well . At least that's the way I see it
Also , we should first wait for a response from hTC before reporting them to GNU . Maybe hTC still have some arguments & reasons for not releasing it . Maybe the cleaning lady didn't go through all the code xD
I'm really disappointed to see how such a promissing device as the DX has so little ROM-wise development . It's wierd because hTC seems to be quite the developer-friendly company , unlike Samsung for example .
This was my first hTC and even though I'm really liking the overall look , feel & performance of the device , I really , really don't like Sense xD
There's really no point mincing words and playing nice: don't think they wouldn't come down on your heads if you used some propriety HTC code / design - Beautiful widgets are a case in point.
The whole idea of Android is that it's open source, anti-copyright, a stark contrast to the world of apple & microsoft and withholding sources is completely contrary to this philosophy.
Agreed though, I think we send this letter (or variations of it, if you're not happy about the strength of the language) wait a reasonable amount of time and then report it if nothing has happened / no reasonable reply is received.

Dear Yasir, Atis112, Prototype-U, ckpv5, MaartenXDA, xpirt, The Android Manual and fellow devs,
I have downloaded all your ROMs and installed them faithfully on my phone. However I must express my utter disappointment that these ROMs aren't running Key Lime Pie. Why are you so lazy?
Also, my phone does not turn into an umbrella when it's raining. WTF is this? How can you ignore such basic stuff? It doesn't walk my dog, or chop my vegetables. I wanted to use my phone as a lightsaber to impress all my friends, but can I do this with your ROMS? No!
You use excuses like: "We don't have kernel sources from HTC", and manage to give us a measly 4.2.2 ROM / Sense 5 themed ROM / Sense 4+ Full / CM 10.1 instead!? Really it's just that you are not listening to us, your non-paying customers. Why should we donate to you or support your work when we can't even play the latest PS4 / Xbox One games on our Desire X. Is that too much to ask?
So, please get with the program, and make us some awesome ROMs with no new sources and nothing but endless hours of hacking and slashing at code to work with. We promise to do nothing but moan at you and suggest how you should spend your volunteer time and efforts.
Sincerely,
A random noob

OP - very well said mate, most of us are acting this way and want everything not for today, not for tomorrow but for yesterday.
Most members are asking for ETAs everyday, when its been said many times not to do so, many members are moaning about non working stuff, without donating, without thinking that this is what Development means - stuff being fixed needs time, time which our not many, but working devs need to spend for us, not for their private life.
So i agree with you and i wish all of us to be more friendly and more patient with the development and developers we have here.
Thanks for this one. You should become a news writer on XDA Portal creating an article about the missing kernel sources for JB...

There's a serious point to this post, which is that there are people who are making attacks against devs, criticising people's efforts while having made no contributions themselves, and generally going against the spirit of XDA (that is to foster a community of people committed to learning and developing together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and courtesy). So stop with the moaning and the whinging. the ad hominem attacks, and the armchair developer schtick. Give developers the respect they deserve. They volunteer their time and energy on the things they choose to. They don't owe us anything.

Ikr, his use of language is perfect for articles and reviews, you should ask for a position at xda portal if that's possible

some of the names mentioned above arent even devs :S
^
exactly why this thread was made, they may not be "devs" but they are still dedicating plenty of personal time to you and all others here, they made things noone else would do and let everyone to benefit from it, further development included, they are pushing desire x in others eyes up, they should be thanked, not labeled as "not dev, pfff"...
Exactly, lack of respect, they may not be a developer but sure they release amazing modded Roms.
Deal with it fella.

hello mates,
i am a big fan of aospa aka paranoid android roms,
so sad that it isnt available for kiwi yet,
i dont know y, is there some limitations with our device? or if the devs havent tried it yet??
though im not bad at coding, i have zero experience on building roms, i dont even know how to..
if not, iam requesting any dev to make a port or please build one for our device, it will be the best..:good::fingers-crossed:

Wrong thread. But @mumith3 is on it.

I understand the question as to why it hasn't been done yet, but requesting that somebody else takes on the task of building it just because YOU want it done but dont want to learn how to port it is quite unnecessary. I hope I'm not sounding like a dck telling you this. Not my intention.

i understand your intention, but im not ordering anything here, i just wanted to know the reason, y it hasnt built yet, and no its not just because I want it, i just requested someone to build it..and if someone does, its not only me whosw gonna download the rom, everyone would love PA, thats the most faourite rom of alot of ppl, including me,
i just heard devs saying its not any easy task to build one, because theres some complexity,
so i thought may be by creating this thread, devs will discuss the problems and they can come up with the build together...
and nope bro, you didnt sound like dck .. i too hope i didnt sound like one,:good:

Hi mates,
I tried to work on AOSPA & Screw'd AOSP, Both are awesome IMO. But sadly they are purely based on AOSP, & for AOSP, source does lack some parts such as framework_av & such & pretty weird vendor tree formatting As my master @yuweng warned me & bro @gopinaidu77 shared his experiences of his trials, I found it tricky even only looking at the sources
Thus I'll be kinda dropping them for now, leave them as side projects on which I hope I will keep tinkering ( & bothering master yuweng & bro gopi when i'm stuck ) whenever I get time.
In the mean time, I'm taking little break, My job is giving me a hard time & semester finals will be ongoing from tomorrow, :crying:
I hope cm14.1 comes within January :fingers-crossed:
So we can work on more sweet treats
p.s. pray for me mates, I suck at marketing related subjects :crying:

Bro if someone was interested in maintainig/building rom for 5x without coding knowledge, where do you suggest should one start?? and what do you think are the basic requirements at the beginner level??? I know it is unrelated to title of the thread but as brother @thilak devraj suggested his intention was to get the AOSPA project discussed, and i am a fellow enthusiast and want to start somewhere in exploring this project and enriching myself with the knowledge, because as far as i understand, you have helped @mumith3 with his projects, which are rock solid and super smooth, so can you point me in the correct direction, if its not too much trouble??

Mate,
First clear your conceptions of build environment, manifests & use of gits. You'll find plenty explanations in google & xda uni.
then start with setting up build machine( I'll suggest a decent config with bbqlinux installed)
then start with building CM as there is a official step by step guide in CM website for kiwi AKA Honor 5X.
when you're familiar with all... move to other roms.
we'll be always glad to help
happy learning!

I am at xda university at present and man these guys are thorough!! They have made it extremely simple even for a beginner like me, i know it's a tough ask but i do want to learn in the most sincerest way possible, hope everything goes according to plan, and even if it doesn't, i believe in the community and help it extends to supernoobs like myself, let's see where it takes me.:fingers-crossed:
well you can be able to make AOSPA on nougat now most probably. Because Alex and other developers has stopped working on Marshmallow. So the team can help in get away with the building errors. But since we are still now marshmallow they won't going to help. or Maybe they will. Can't say. At paranoid things these moves slowly moving to nougat. Well since none of the member has device in team. So we are not officially supported. The biggest reason why HONOR 5x never make it to other developers because of Kenzo was launched by Xiaomi. Far better in specifications. But we are still hopeful. Exodus will halting development too for a while. Issues with developers. The last Vanir is also has issues. Maintaining so many devices is a heck of trouble for few developers. Since Vanir is based on CM so we are far away from them.
Pure Code Aurora Caf was never possible until some developer with coding skills come. You need to code and make everything from scratch. In that case things will not coming from even CM. You have device specific device trees. It is huge pain in ass. Now as Paranoid is going to pure AOSP if i remember right. They going to use few things like cm device trees just. Else like exodus paranoid is known for writing their own apps and stuff...

I'm really digging the dev community here. Shouts out to crpalmer jsbeyond gopi mumith and everybody else im forgetting. And just remember, be always grateful for their work. We could have ended up with no development if we chose a different phone. For example my last phone the HTC desire 626s. Go find the desire 626 forum on XDA to see what I mean. Development just doesn't always happen. Which is why when I see somebody request certain ROMs it irks me a little
yes , i feel lucky to have those devs, but im sad we alredy lost many of them..
Hi,
I am wondering if there is a common way on this forum to express support for the development of a specific custom ROM for a phone? Is there a commonly accepted way to do this? (Came here to see if I could +1 a LineageOs thread for the Zenfone 9)

Hey mate,
I was thinking to contact developers and pay them to build lineage OS and make it official!
Or the other alternative is Learn how to build it and submit it for review on LOS website..
If you have any suggestions?
cool, no idea how to go about that, but I would be happy to contribute as well. I'm sure others would be too - I am on a forum where there are multiple threads dedicated to finding a good small deGoogled phone (community.e.foundation). There must be a place where people can put up amounts for a development like this, right? Sort of like a Kickstarter for a bit of development? I will ask on the other forum too

The problem with LineageOS is that when there is no more maintainer for a specific model the phone just goes to rubbish, no more security patch... same for the other custom rom... eOS depends on LOS repositories and even if lineage stop supporting a specific device eOS will keep updating their all supported devices... That's why I really like eOS. It doesn't matter if some features are unavailable... a phone is supposed to be used for call, text. Nowadays, everything seems to be sophisticated however it doesn't need to be... I'll start asking some recognised developers if they are willing to work on a LOS build for the zf9 for some money participation... maybe start a crowdfunding of an alternative without fraud!!
Bump
Hi bro,
Sorry got no time at the moment I ended up using a one plus 6 with eOS... I haven't started anything yet. I might need some help to organise something about crowdfunding..
Good luck and let us know if you have some ideas. Thank's
