its faster and getting locks almost instantly.
I've seen the S2 and S3 side by side with GPS Test Pro running on them and the S3 blows the S2's GPS away.
Its awesome in the uk, locks in seconds, stays llocked normally accurate to < 10m (often 4 or 6m)
Sent via TCP/IP
I'm still using S2 with crappy GPS at the moment. Can't wait till I get my S3 later.
Second that in the UK locking super quick.

Fast and very accurate. In my experience it is very accurate if I will disable mobile data and use only GPS. :good:
Best GPS in any phone (or even tablet) device I have ever seen.
Sitting next to my Garmin gpsmap 62s the sgs3 is surprising accurate and gps lock is pretty quick, even indoors.
That being said I haven't had a chance to test it in anything other than an urban environment..

Speedy Gonzales.
Coming from a Vibrant with useless GPS that never locked, this thing is amazing, locks fast and stays accurate even going through mountains and areas covered in trees. I managed to use Mapquest navigation flawlessly. Real good.
The GS3 has a GLONAS compatible chip which almost doubles the available satellites. With the assistance of the sensors and mobile/wifi networks it gives me pretty accurate positioning even indoors, which is quite remarkable.
Insane. Up to 22 satellites and instant. Couldn't ask for more.

I didn't like the GPS on the S2 until I got the latest official ICS ROM.
Nowadays I simply love the GPS on both my S2 and my S3. Fix is very fast and precise. The latest Samsung ROMs brought a great improvement on GPS.
For the versions of the ROMS I am using, see my sig.
Thank you for all your answers... I hope I can still return my HTC One X and get this.
I really really like the One X and GPS works well as well but i'm on Rogers (canada) and the phone only has 16gb of ram and not expandable.
I can't live with that.
Excellent
super
Its good and works very good, fast.
I'll second what every1has already said, extremely fast to lock and very accurate. Have used the gps recently along with endomondo to track exercise activity. Very happy with it.

Hi folks,
I have a S1 and S2 right now and I might want to buy an S3. (after a long series of other phones I owned)
Now GPS is extreemly important to me. A lot of people are refering to the time to get a fast fix, which is also nice to have, but accuracy is more important to me.
I have a friend with an S3 whom I let do a test on GPS test and the best accuracy he could get was 8m which surprises me since my S2 does like 5m and stays steady on that 5m.
How accurate is your S3?
Don't worry about it. This is probably the best GPS on any phone.
And yes the GPS is as accurate as you can get.
Also I usually have a lock on between 15 to 18 Sats.

Well the amount of sats locked doesn't actually say a thing about accuracy I think. I also a have 2 bluetooth GPS receivers that lock on to the same amount of sats as the S2 but which seems to be much more spot on the map.
I do the test in the garden combined with google maps which gives me a nice idea of how it behaves.
Anybody care to do some tests in either gps test or gps status?
Already done all those. Believe me if I stand by my front gate that's where g maps will show me to be.
Anyway all civilian GPS are artificially limited to 5 meter accuracy by the US govt. I'm not sure about glonass but I'm guessing it's probably the same.
BTW I've had multiple GPS devices over the years and the S3 beats them all hands down.

arggg, ok seems no more reason not to buy it (I can manage my wife :angel
You won't regret it
GPS was the major factor in my choice as well.
The addition of the glonass sat system was the icing on the cake.
The lack of GPS threads on the s3 forum only attests to how few issues there are with it on our device
And yes, wives don't really get it

Don't worry about it. It's not a real measure anyway. Is just a statistical estimate which is set by the devices libs. Unless it's something ridiculous like 30 meters you don't have an issue. On the hd2 when Tytung was developing the libs he allowed the setting to be altered through GPS conf. Yes it felt good psychologically to look at GPS test and see an accuracy of 1 or 2 meters but it actually meant nothing. If GPS test or maps is showing variations of 6 to 12 meters everything is fine.. The most important thing is the speed at which it locks on to sats and that the lock is held with no drops. If you have a steady lock on 4 or more sats everything is good.
But just to show I took these screen shots a moment ago. Note the difference in accuracy. In actual use this will have no impact.

I really want to buy this watch but I've heard about compatibility issues, such as disabling samsung features. I've read about the note 3 being the same and you just being able to re enable these features. Though I'm not sure if it's the same with the S4. Anyone use these two devices together or know if they work?
Don't have one personally but I have a friend that uses his Pebble on his note 3 without issues

I have had a pebble for a couple months already, and I love it, S4 battery life is not affected (or at least noticeably) but if you decided to add Glance or any app that uses pebblehtt to get weather info it will diminish your battery life as it refreshes the data every 5 minutes.
Other than that the things that you can do with it are awesome
I use my Pebble with the S4 running CM. Haven't noticed that big of an affect on battery life from the Pebble alone, but Glance certainly does lower battery life a fair bit on both ends. But you suck it up because Glance is amazing.

I've had my sprint Galaxy note 3 since July 2014. I love it. I rooted it in March. I'm on kit Kat 4.4.4 I wonder if it's worth upgrading to the note 5
or how to upgrade my rooted 4.4.4 to rooted lollipop 5.1 I've read over posts but seem to get more confused. Is there a way to keep an 'official root this works' It just seems that there is too much info in one thread. I don't know maybe that doesn't make sense
I must be getting old. . :/ anyway appreciate experiences with note 5 or a link that step by step tells me how to get lollipop.

Ok I have both. The note 5 has been the only phone I have not rooted in my life. The bad no removable battery. The greatness quick charge and currently my all day battery life, and the camera.
I did the note 3 to note 5 rom. I was impressed. Especially with the camera. The turn on time (wow it's as fast as my note 5 turning on the camera) and the auto focus works about 95 of the time.
I went back to the note 3 rom because of a copy existing calender entry to alternative company calendar that the note 3 Samsung calender has in it. Samsung removed that feature.
The missing sd card? I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would. HOWEVER, I have not take a vacation to a location where I did not have high speed wifi access to this year. Last vacation we filled up 3 64 gb sdcard between my wife and I and our camera as well. I do find myself taking more pictures now because of just how good the camera is on the note 5. I have used Google photos and set it to high quality and to MY EYES ? I can't see the difference between what Google's compression algorithms and the original photos.
The really bad, not being able to use voice and data at the same time till VOLTE gets rolled out on the note 5, AND the antennas are not as good as they were in my note 3. Previously I always had signal where other people had none. We work in the centers of old buildings. I always had signal on the note 3, every one else's carrier had no signal, att Verizon and t-mobile. Silly me I thought it was just Sprint. I've taken both phones and used signal measuring apps yeah, the note 3 gets the signal where now I do not have ANY signal. The high speed data downloads? Not yet in my area. So I can not tell you how great it is. On the areas where I do have signal I use Google voice and call people back using that number, if I need to use both voice and data.
The gps lock is not as good as my note 3, I solved that with the purchase of GPS status and have it set to auto download the APGS data every 6 hours. With that done it's better on gps than my note 3.
This is my second note 5 my first one was a bad unit (it happens). Because I purchased a 64GB unit when my replacement unit, came in they gave me the new box and everything in it. So I got a new charger and headphones ect for free.
OK, my concerns for the future. Battery discharge cycles. I have 3 batteries plus one dead battery on my note 3. I'm afraid that I will do the maximum number of full discharge cycles and ruin the battery my first year. Will sprint be able to replace it at the store level? Who knows?
I've read someplace (the forums I think) that Samsung will replace the battery the first year. I will believe it when it happens to me
I really do use my phone ALL DAY, with my job.
I'll see if I can find the steps for the note 5 rom upgrade that I used and link to them.
TLDR (too long didn't read)
BEFORE you do that, I recommend that you use a fstrim program and see how your NAND state is.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fifthelement.trimmer
Mine on my note 3 is pretty degraded from using it so much.
So it was a hmm how much longer is my note 3 reliable even using the fstrim application.
I'm loving my note 5. If it had replaceable batteries and sd card I'd love it even more. But then what would we have to complain about?

Hello, I received the beast! First impressions very positive,
When the activation wore MIU 7 something and immediately had an upgrade available in 8!
The X20 seems to be doing quite well with the temperatures, I mean although they set kept within reasonable limits the temperature. Also thanks to the guide here on Google play installation forum, and I was able to pass the Google play and the goodies (contacts, calendar, etc.)
I will come back with more details when the handle a couple 2 days .....
It is my first experience with chinese apparatus generally. But I was a holder of the following devices until now: galaxy s, s3, Note 2, S4, LG G2, Note 3, LG G3 - Note 4, Lg G4, LG G5

Well we have and say, after 24 hours with redmi note 4:
1. Beautiful gold, as I see it and the habit so I like more. Generally very nice design (tastes of course is what)
2. Autonomy, very good 6-7 hours sot comfortably without restrictions
3. Photo Quality just good (not compare in any way with famous flagship)
4. Despite very quick smoothie with exemplary, very good work in MIUI 8 (6.0.1)
5. Very good speaker on the G5 I maybe better. Sound from the headphones is also very clear and powerful (tested with headphones gavio metallon)
6. Display good (not sure amoled) with excellent brightness! viewing angles simply good.
7. The fingerprint lightning fast, more or less like the LG G5
8. Google play had to spend manually (easily of course)
9. The device has anglokineziki rom.
10. It charges very fast (not just counted time will come back)
11. I placed the first day nova launcher pro (all my devices that I wear always), which I can say sat very well, and what I mean? In G5 I eg with nova launcher there is a conflict with the locking device and the fingerprint unlock, in redmi note 4 not encountered any problems, do not expect .......
12. Now to the issue of cpu temperatures, the temperature that can do with mobile, keep very reasonable! I did not expect you to read the earlier X10.
If I stun sorry, but I hope I helped those considering joining the market of .....

Question: How is active battery life? Standby drain? Anything out of the ordinary with the X20? Since the first device with the X20 (ZOPO Speed 8) was so bad with it, I'm worried about EVERY device with the X20.

Great to hear. Turns out X20 isn't so bad after all!
Finally managed to get google play The battery life is great, only thing is that it charges pretty slowly but that could be because I'm using my old xiaomi plug which is lower output. Haven't had any problems so far but its top early to tell. Now I just need to wait for my bootloader to be unlocked
Been using it for a day now, managed to get pkay store and so far so good. Only thing is that when im watching videos on youtube or using CM browser sometimes the app will just close randomly. Not a big problem but it gets annoying when it happens often. Anyone else experiencing this as well?
Hi,
Tell me please does the Redmi Note 4 have NFC support? Some websites say yes, some say no.
Thanks
I get around 5 hours screen on time with my rmn4 . Great device !
No NFC..... Anyone know how to unlock bootloader?

Brother same here everything is closing automatically and frequently.. Did you get any solution.
Ive tweaked the permissions, power saving apps, restrictions, ect...Everything I found that could be possible, and I still get apps automatically shutting down. Even the ones I've locked into memory. I think there's some big bugs with Miui 8 so far, and needs a little polishing.

Same. I tried tweaking LMK values too. I actually get massive slow-downs now, I need to regularly clean memory (even if I only have Chrome open since cleaning memory before - Chrome itself will slow down and lag really badly).
Hope it's fixed soon. By three year old Xperia Z runs MIUI better than this lol...

Agreed, I hope it is fixed soon too. I was very excited to finally have an official MIUI device, but this runs like I'm in a beta program.
