Can someone building this app from github? It looks pretty cool, but I don't know how to build nor do I think I have the equipment to.
Thanks!

I think I can f*p to this
Developers, please help! , this could help take multitasking on android tablets to a whole new level!
Would like to see this myself!
Thats really really cool, hope the developers here will do a build with ICS with that fantastic experiment!
CyanogenMod team is working in building it into CM9.
Think it's only compatible with ics and gingerbread when ics is more common on devices I think more cooks will add it. I can't believe their is not more interest from dev on this. Cm9 and Thor, are building this into their rom.
Not an APP. This has to be built into the ROM itself. I have been searching for the "user built ROMS" on Onskreen's website but with no luck. CMteam is adding it to CM9 but a flashable zip to drop the right files into the right places would be increadible. This would give most people the option to use what ROM they want and then flash the "Cornerstone into said ROM. I am excited about this.
Including this into the ROMs might make Google decide to pull ROMs out of access to the Android Market I've read.
Not sure if and how this would all pan out.
edit: if CM would include this as an optional package that would remove the risk of excluding ROMs to the market, nice find mtjnkee
work in progress? or already an app ready?
I thunk it'll still a work in progress.

Roman from the aokp rom has a special edition of his rom with cornerstone built in. It is buggy (onskreen needs to fix it up a bit), but if you want to test it out here it is. For the wifi 10.1

It's in an overnight build of AOKP--a one-time thing, I believe. It has a long way to go to be generally useable.

Yes but when I made the original post he hadn't included it yet.
Any roms for the a500 with this built in yet. Available now?
I think that once more devices start to implement ICS then we will see a much faster development time for these sort of OS enhancements

For interested readers: plus(dot)google(dot)com/117962666888533781522/posts/bPKE7qtvwC9 CyanogenMod - The Cornerstone Breakup
So IMHO they're more on building an own solution to this, taking Cornerstone as an origin.
If anyone has a Touchpad laying around there is an CM9 Kang ROM with Cornerstone baked in over in the Touchpad development section.

Any progress?
I adore my YP-G70, but with no ICS, I'm beginning to get miffed. None of the custom ROMs I've seen are that impressive, so I'd like to make my own. PLZ tell me how.
Download the CM9 source and JackpotClavins device tree from his github. Then build from source . Btw this is unlikely to work first time so keep trying and use google

I've compiled cm7 and cm9 before, and it doesn't require java. Maybe only a little bit for the framework, but it is mostly c++ for the rom and c for the kernel. And c++ and java are quite similar too..

Over the past couple weeks every waking moment of spare time I have had I have used reading any article, watching any movie, browsing any forum thread I have found on the topic of custom rom development and I think I'm getting close to where I can begin my first build. If any of the users here can point me to any helpful links to help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Now, onto my question. This is probably considered pure sacrilege but I was just curious on the matter. I was wondering, lets say I was wanting to port the new ToudhWiz over to our device would this be possible. If it is possible how difficult is it going to be and is it a project a beginner developer could ever hope to accomplish?
Onto my second question. I have been waiting ever since I got the DNA to see an Ubuntu Touch port for it and have got to the point where I don't believe I'm ever going to see it happen. Is this due to it being harder to build then lets say a AOSP based Rom or is it because not many people in our community here seem to care if it happens or not? The reason I'm asking is because after I get a couple Roms compiled from the simple FAQs I have been able to find and have figured out kind of what I'm doing I think I would like to try to port it over. Once again, ANY and all help is greatly appreciated, whether it's just links to other sites that has helped the developers here get to where they are or even someone wanting to help me learn personally. I have the upmost respect to all of the developers on this site and want to be able to consider myself among this elite group very soon. If I have posted this in the wrong place let the mods move it and let me know of my mistake.
Sincerely,
DrewHamm974
As someone who is fairly new to android / Rom development. Its something that takes a bit of time. I started small by just learning how to compile from source to figuring out how to get it set up to work on a device that already has support to eventually bringing roms to this device when they weren't supported.
I'm no expert but also knowing a programming language like C, C++, and Java will help.
Xda-university.com has some stuff on Rom development.
As for porting TW probably won't happen. Ububtu touch good luck... You will need either someone to do kernel work or learn how to dev a kernel first...

First off I would like to say thank you very much for answering my question. Honestly, I was hoping for an answer from you, Pio, Palmer, or amit_sen. I am currently running CyanFox and must say it is awesome. If I could be bold enough to ask, why would porting TouchWiz not work? Is it due to something about it being a proprietary rom or is it something in the source that won't compile for anything but a Galaxy phone. The reason I am asking is due to the fact if I'm not completely mistaken I saw a sense rom for either the S2 or S3 not long ago.
Now onto Ubuntu touch, I thought all you had to have to port it was a working CM 10.1 build to get it working. Also, is there anywhere besides XDA University you could send me to help learning Rom and/ or Kernel development. Once again I greatly appreciate you taking the time to answer my question I idolize any devs that are on here freely giving their time and hard work.

I would recommend learning how to build CM 10.2. Once you have a working build, figure out how to build AOKP (or any other ROM without official support).
After that, you will probably have new questions.
Thanks will definately do.

Touchwiz would be easy to get booting but almost everything would be broken. And because you can't actually compile touchwiz it makes fixing anything a giant pain. Ubuntu touch on the other hand would be relatively easy because you can compile it.

If I remember correctly, Ubuntu touch is typically based on the cm10.1 kernel, for whatever it's worth.

Hi all,
The purpose of this thread is to coordinate our efforts trying to build CM11 for LG L7 II series.
Here we will share ideas, distribute our tasks and basically do whatever we can to have CM11 running as fast and as reliably as possible on our beloved device.
Next thing I believe should be a plan on how to kick off this project. This Wiki page (thanks @kalel29) is probably a good start, but we need to start rolling it. Will be glad to hear any other suggestions from anyone with more experience lifting up such a task.
Edit:
ROMs are ready. Here are the official threads for CM11 L7 II devices (by weritos):
CM11 for L7 II single SIM (p710/p712/p713/p714)
CM11 for L7 II dual SIM (p715/p716)
What all "wannabe-developers" must set up is definitely a Linux workbench, like it is just written in THIS thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302780
This is an all-round starter for everyone I think, also, let me share my personal experience with you - just be very-very careful when installing Linux next to Windows - I losed all my personal data because of some partition details gone wrong.
An other point, is that what we all have seen lately, and sadly: without sharing the sources of our work, the project will be closed by XDA admins, that's what we've seen with the custom kernel of airodsas, and the CM10 of weritos. So whatever we've done, we must synchronize that onto the team's GitHub.
That's all what should be done in the first place, I think. Also, I'd like to offer my graphic skills to make an elegant look to the team, I mean banners, logo, and some other fancy stuff
Maybe this serves you

Thanks. This is for CM10.2. However, I guess that the right way to go is to merge the Vendor/HW dependent stuff from official LG KK into CM11.

Alright then!
So first, we need to see who's on our team, and what each one can contribute.
We need to form the strategy of how to attack this task.
We should allow a few days (I suggest until Monday-Tuesday) for people to setup their development environment (shifty's link is a good starting point). Everyone here also need to setup a github account, as the CM sources are on github.
As for me: I don't have experience building ROMs or developing Android apps, but I do have experience in Linux development (including scripting and a bit of workstation administration). Ready to help any way I can. TZ is GMT+2.

i dont know y, is there some limitations with our device? or if the devs havent tried it yet??
though im not bad at coding, i have zero experience on building roms, i dont even know how to..
if not, iam requesting any dev to make a port or please build one for our device, it will be the best..:good::fingers-crossed:

I understand the question as to why it hasn't been done yet, but requesting that somebody else takes on the task of building it just because YOU want it done but dont want to learn how to port it is quite unnecessary. I hope I'm not sounding like a dck telling you this. Not my intention.

Hi mates,
I tried to work on AOSPA & Screw'd AOSP, Both are awesome IMO. But sadly they are purely based on AOSP, & for AOSP, source does lack some parts such as framework_av & such & pretty weird vendor tree formatting As my master @yuweng warned me & bro @gopinaidu77 shared his experiences of his trials, I found it tricky even only looking at the sources
Thus I'll be kinda dropping them for now, leave them as side projects on which I hope I will keep tinkering ( & bothering master yuweng & bro gopi when i'm stuck ) whenever I get time.
In the mean time, I'm taking little break, My job is giving me a hard time & semester finals will be ongoing from tomorrow, :crying:
I hope cm14.1 comes within January :fingers-crossed:
So we can work on more sweet treats
p.s. pray for me mates, I suck at marketing related subjects :crying:

Mate,
First clear your conceptions of build environment, manifests & use of gits. You'll find plenty explanations in google & xda uni.
then start with setting up build machine( I'll suggest a decent config with bbqlinux installed)
then start with building CM as there is a official step by step guide in CM website for kiwi AKA Honor 5X.
when you're familiar with all... move to other roms.
we'll be always glad to help
happy learning!

I am at xda university at present and man these guys are thorough!! They have made it extremely simple even for a beginner like me, i know it's a tough ask but i do want to learn in the most sincerest way possible, hope everything goes according to plan, and even if it doesn't, i believe in the community and help it extends to supernoobs like myself, let's see where it takes me.:fingers-crossed:
well you can be able to make AOSPA on nougat now most probably. Because Alex and other developers has stopped working on Marshmallow. So the team can help in get away with the building errors. But since we are still now marshmallow they won't going to help. or Maybe they will. Can't say. At paranoid things these moves slowly moving to nougat. Well since none of the member has device in team. So we are not officially supported. The biggest reason why HONOR 5x never make it to other developers because of Kenzo was launched by Xiaomi. Far better in specifications. But we are still hopeful. Exodus will halting development too for a while. Issues with developers. The last Vanir is also has issues. Maintaining so many devices is a heck of trouble for few developers. Since Vanir is based on CM so we are far away from them.
Pure Code Aurora Caf was never possible until some developer with coding skills come. You need to code and make everything from scratch. In that case things will not coming from even CM. You have device specific device trees. It is huge pain in ass. Now as Paranoid is going to pure AOSP if i remember right. They going to use few things like cm device trees just. Else like exodus paranoid is known for writing their own apps and stuff...

I'm really digging the dev community here. Shouts out to crpalmer jsbeyond gopi mumith and everybody else im forgetting. And just remember, be always grateful for their work. We could have ended up with no development if we chose a different phone. For example my last phone the HTC desire 626s. Go find the desire 626 forum on XDA to see what I mean. Development just doesn't always happen. Which is why when I see somebody request certain ROMs it irks me a little
yes , i feel lucky to have those devs, but im sad we alredy lost many of them..
