hey.
so i got my new venue 7 a few days ago, and as i've seen from the root thread, most all of the users have been notified by their tablet to the 4.3 update, but i have not.
anyone have any suggestions as to why that might be? any insight would be appreciated.
Perhaps it is like the Nexus 7 where updates are rolled out to devices over a many days (weeks?). I think Google does it by the device's serial number.
I have no idea if Dell does the same thing (on the other hand, I suspect that there are far more Nexus 7s being used than Dell Venue tablets.).
No update for me either ?

I have venue 7 wifi edition and neither 4.3 nor 4.4.2 update had rolled out to me and my version is still 4.2.2
I'm from Egypt...
Anybody has an idea about how to update to the stock 4.4.2??

Follow my post above even if you don't want root this will allow you to update dell pulled all ota updates they won't admit they did but no one is able to see otas for close to a month now.

I got my tablet yesterday too. No updates, stuck on 4.2
Can i directly update to 4.4.2 or will i have to first flash the 4.3 update using myKit Tools?

you can directly update once dell resumes the updates. i dont know how long that's going to take though. I really want immersive mode

My tablet I bought the first week of June had the 4.3 installed, Dell told me updates gives pop-ups, I asked them for 4.4 to not be confused.
Today i received a new system update.

.118 is carrier specific (Vodafone and SFR) and available. Check with XperiFirm tool.

Well, i got notified of the update and I'm updating it now. The changleog didnt say much, other than
Android 4.4.4 including the latest enhancements and security updates from Google
- Updated and improved camera experience
- Improvements to Google Voice, Google+, Contacts and music streaming
- Latest versions of all Sony native and media apps
- Latest bug fixes, optimisations and improvements
I'll report back after the update if I face any problems with the firmware or if i feel you guys need to know something about the firmware.

I did mine the other day. It's syil 108. When I tried to use easy root it didn't work. But I went to towel root website and downloaded the apk and rerooted that way and then installed supersu in market. Im on locked bl at the moment.

Ok I'm done with the update. Just to be clear, you're saying that easy root, something designed to root Xperia devices, doesnt work but the normal towelroot does?
Note: I dont mean to come across as condescending, I'm just making sure.

Yes. For me on a locked bl. Both the easy root tool for Xperia devices and nuts dual boot didn't work for me rooting wise. I used towel root itself and then installed supersu and then used dual boot recovery installer and got my recovery back. But you may have different results.

Nope its still 108. But its 4.4.4 instead of 4.4.2 so I dont really know what 133 firmware could bring to the table. The next version of android is already Android L so 133 should technically be Android L which isnt even released yet... Not sure whats happening.
And i think what hes saying is that the newest version of 108 patches against easy root. I think you're using the older 108 firmware, which is still rootable by easy root.

.133 will not be android L or 5.0 it is likely to be a carrier update like 118 is or just a minor update

just got the OTA notification, says that requires a PC.

That's normal. It just changes from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. I think Sony didn't think it was big enough an update to change the build number.

No I wasn´t on Lollipop. I just reinstalled all from scratch in order to test it for you. IDK if you can downgrade. You should try. Its an official firm.

I USED THIS FROM ANL1 TO GO BACK TO STOCK ----MAIN REASON I HIT THE UPDATE BUTTON and my alpha 850a kept trying to download lollipop a lot of ppl want lollipop but after all the bad response to it i got worry i wouldn't want it i try everything to cancel the download even reset phone and the download status comes back so using this i was able to fully format with pit file and everything else and get back stock and stop phone from doing the update thanks -------------------- im trying to see if its possible to downgrade from lollipop back to this so i can try lollipop without being stuck with it any one care to reply on that specificly 850a att ver ? sucks no att love but i picked it up somewhat cheap from bodega shop

What would happen if I try to downgrade with ODIN and it doesn't work? Would it brick or would nothing happen?
I downgraded from 5.0.2 using this firmware earlier today. It does definitely work. Too bad there's still not a root method and it looks like pitpin gave up on his.
Is it pre unlocked or do we have to get the phone unlocked again ? I am currently on unlocked lollipop.
Sim unlock has nothing to do with ROM files. The unlocked or locked status won't change.

Friends, is it possible to downgrade from lollipop 5.1.1 to kitkat 4.4.4 on our note edge? I am using N915k and need root. It is very frustrating to be using my phone without root. I tried once and it gave errors. Any body has sucessfully downgrade to kk?

It works only on lollipop 5.0. Falsh TRWP via Odin then SuperSu V2.46 and your device will be rooted. It work fine with me on Lollipop 5.1.1. I have note edge too

Wow... so almost 4 years later I revisit this thread...
I took out my preserved Note Edge (TM) still on KK 4.4 from the vault and wanted to flash a good ROM on it, but they are all on LP or MM base. I really didn't like LP at all ... JB was awesome, KK is great, LP a total bust, then MM turned out to be a polished version of KK ...
I"m wanting to stay and preserve KK 4.4, rather the U1 BL and not get stuck going past U1 ...
It looks like I can only roll up to BOG2 (5.0.1) to be able to roll back to KK (baseband and all) as going over BOG2 will get it stuck on U2 ...

I'm a big fan of TEKHD ROM's and am glad to see that he has one built on the 5.0.1 base, which on BOD7 (U1) ... that looks like my only choice to stay within U1 eh?
