[Q] Wifi issue since upgrading to 4.4.2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I could not find an answer on how to fix this issue with the SCH-I545. After upgrading to KK I have not been able to connect to the WIFI at work. I am hoping that someone can help me. I have tried a lot of the simple things like renaming my device. My phone is not rooted, but if it is able to be rooted I am willing to do it.

Check our towelroot.com. It gives us root!!! One click!! It's pretty sweet! Just came out but I too am having problems with tether.

i had the same problem, i brought my phone to verizon and all the lady did was take the battery out and put it back in.

*Bricked* Galaxy note, after wrong rom install

Hey guys, first post, first real major issue I've encountered well rooting a phablet.
I have a ATT galaxy note, yesterday I rooted it and installed the Saurom ROM, everything was a breeze, I decided to try out ICS, I accidentally installed Criskelo onto the device before finding out it wasn't okay for the ATT note.
It hung on installing the rom itself and so I removed the battery imagining I could just revert to Saurom til I found a new ICS rom. But after I interuppted the ROM from installing, I get NO POWER! No download mode, nothing whatsoever on the screen =[ I'm ultra sad, best solution I find for the note is possibly a USB jig but I don't know if it will bring me back from this...
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! I'm sitting here with a bricked note and a broken heart.
Don't be heartbroken just yet. This just happened to a friend of mine with his Note. I'm sending him your way. He's working today so I doubt he can get to you right away but I'm pretty sure he has the answer you need.

Have you tried accessing the phone with odin to see if it shows up there?
did you install CWM prior to flashing? try the three button combo to boot into recovery
did you backup prior to flashing ICS?

Some ROMs can damage the device's onboard flash. Surprisingly the Note is one of the few devices that you can actually physically break by flashing the wrong ROM.

You may need to contact mobile tech videos and get jtag unbricking service.
A bad flash happened to me in my first week of owning the phone so I was under the 30 day return policy with AT&T. I told them I was updating apps in the market, it got super hot, shut off, and would not power up.
They couldn't get it to turn on either, for obvious reasons, and they exchanged it no further questions asked. Hopefully your still in the return period.

I'm sorry to say you probably have a hard brick on your hands. There's more info in this thread. I did the same thing myself. studacris's answer is the only option, you'll need to send it to someone who can do a JTAG repair on it, or you need to hope it's under warranty and send it back to AT&T and tell them that it just plain broke.
All notes are under warranty from Samsung still. They are for a year of purchase date. note has not been out a year.
Normally when I've had a a phone brick on me or a friends phone when out of the 30 day period, I would call 611 and have them send me a phone and when I received the new one I would mail the bricked one. It wasn't a big issue since the phones have manufacture warranties. Now they opened a device support center near buy and you can go and get a new one that same day.

question for the OP's question, Samsung has that flash counter on the phone, I'm assuming with a bad flash like this it doesn't go up. But does it? And it if does, would Samsung be able to tell what happened? I know Samsung has a hard stance on flashers. To OP, I did the same thing, and I resorted to getting the JTAG thing done, the few places I've came across won't charge unless they can fix it. And they only charge like $50.
I tried jtag. Waste of money. They could not save my phone, plus they charged me $30 for looking at it.
Not to mention I lost out on my shipping.

The last resort is to try a Jig to force download mode. If that fails, you are done. You can look on your PC in the Device Manager. In there it will show you an "state" when you connect the device trying to get into Download Mode. Google that state. I am guessing you are getting the bad one which at this time is a device exchange.

[Q] Lost GPS?! Flashed to Ntelos/Rooted Stock

One of my customers has two T-Bolts, both have been flashed to Ntelos.
He had me root both phones, and both are still on the latest stock software, with root added, and both devices lost GPS at the same time. Ive tried every fix I can think of and Im not getting anywhere.
As I dont actually own the device its a little more difficult to troubleshoot than a device Im more familiar with, so maybe someone out there can help me out?
It would be greatly appreciated
::MODS:: Im pretty sure this is Q&A worthy, but if not please move.
Still looking for an answer if anybody can help?
If these phones are flashed to run on ntelos network. That's probably your answer right there. When flashing a phone to other carriers not everything tends to work.

Trust me, I definitely understand that. We flash a ton of phones in my shop, but the thing is that these two in particular were working fine after the flash and one day out of the blue they BOTH lost connection to GPS. at the same time. only one of them is his phone, the other he doesnt have service on and uses it as a MID, but he was able to get gps on wifi up until this point.
just kind of strange. Ive explained to him alreasdy about the flash and things not working all the time, but it is still strange to me that they went out at the same time
Maybe Google changed the address that the phone uses to access GPS? Maybe try the GPS fix which is somewhere in the dev section?

Sprint Connection Optimizer Hosed My WiFi

Ok. Let me run some info.
1) Rooted
2) Flashed to run Page Plus
3) CDMA
4) Stock ROM currently
So, I've been nagged by the sprint download for a long while now. I finally decided to go ahead and run the update that was suppose to only install the Sprint Optimizer. Well, after running it and phone restarting, I can't get connected to WiFi. In settings, WiFi now says "Error" as the status.
Well, being the genius that I am, I decided to try and find the download and re-run the update. Couldn't find it. So, I went on XDA Developers and downloaded the PACMAN ROM. When attempting to flash, I get "Error 7". Having no clue what that is, I tried flashing again and got the same error code.
Does anyone have some kind of ROM to flash to get my wifi back or knows of what to do to fix this? Thanks!
FYI. I did go to:
Settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>automatic connections
and turned it off, rebooted, and nothing still for wifi.
If your phones not s-off it won't be able to flash anything other than HTC/sence roms but if you do that you can flash any sence Rom with either kernel and that will fix it. Being rooted and trying to update will mess up the kernel witch controls thing like WiFi and data connectivity also CPU speed and other things.

Ahhh haaa!! Thanks! Going to find a sense rom to flash now.
Welcome! I had the same experience when I was useing a Rom that didn't accept a kernel...

Today has been hell! I switched over to Next G Mobile since PP had been down since yesterday (everyone on H***** Forums was talking about it and the buyout). Even though I'm a dealer, I found out that the stuff is actually done MANUALLY. When I put in a request for a port on my dealer page, it goes to someone at NGM to do it manually. Anyways, after 3 hours of on the phone with them, I finally got ported over and 3G data working on my EVO 3D. I re-rooted the phone since I had done a hard reset. Now, I'm scared to add a rom and hose it up again. I think I'm going to buy a Samsung Galaxy S II from Ebay (less than $100 if you buy the bad ESN models) and go from there.

need help

So the wife and I just picked up a Note 3 each on Sprint. I rooted and installed TWRP on both without issues. I ran the zip to unlock the native hotspot on mine and booted up just fine after. Now I installed the zip on the wife's phone and now it starts to boot and gets hung up on the yellow Sprint screen. I have rebooted into TWRP and tried wiping the phone but still no luck. I was stupid and rushed though it and didn't make a nandroid backup. I feel like my only option is to return it to best buy tomorrow and just not say anything about the rooting. Anyone have an idea to avoid exchanging the phone at best buy?
Thanks ahead of time.
Use your nandroid on her phone then factory reset. Or flash one of the stock rooted roms. Guessing as usual lol.

Thanks guys. Turns out the wife had updated to MJ4 so the native hotspot zip was locking the phone up after the install. Flashed back to stock and re-rooted and installed TWRP.

Best news of the night! Great to see this.
FWIW, I didn't leave Sprint until my baseband showed MJ4 (ie, took the update at the store, and didn't leave until it showed on reboot).

Coming from HTC, I would never update the firmware as fear HTC would make it so you couldn't get S-OFF. Don't have to worry about the S-ON or S-OFF crap on Samsung luckily.
So what is the best way to update to MJ4? I rooted and flashed Jellybomb but still shows my software is MI5. I was thinking that it would have been updated with the ROM but I should have known better. With HTC, there was a zip to flash to update the firmware separately. I'm guessing there is something similar with Samsung phones. Thanks ahead of time.

After you update use Kingo app to root it.
Why do I have to re-root? I'm already rooted. From what I've found, all I have to do is install the MJ4 firmware tar file via Odin. I shouldn't have to re-root and start over again. I rooted via Odin so I don't care about tripping Knox. Can someone just confirm I just need to run the MJ4 tar file via Odin and won't have to re-root or install my rom over again? Thanks

Looks like you made the same jump I did from htc 4g lte to N3. It's quite a bit better isn't it?
I am not happy with the direction htc is going as a company so I jumped ship on them. I had no idea the samsung phones had gotten this good since I set the Epic 4G on fire and swore I'd never buy another Samsung phone again. This phone is so much better than the 4G LTE I'm almost ashamed at how many people I talked into buying one. Oh well...
Funny about the fear of updating. When the girl at BB was setting my N3 up it started downloading an update and I snatched it out of her hands and restarted it to stop the update. I told her I was going to root it and an update might make that impossible. lol I'm coming around, slowly. If knox wasn't in the loop it would be a lot easier. I hope its just a matter of time before work arounds are found for that.

Just FYI, I updated my Note3 to MJ4 and rooted it with Kingo App. Is there a newer update? After that, with Flashify I flashed TWRP and installed Bonsai MJ4 0.0.2 (no Knox)
(I have Baseband N900PVPUBMJ4 with Bonsai_v0.0.2)
As far as I know MJ4 is the latest firmware in the wild for the N3...

Yep, I had the Epic 4G and after watching my sister with all the issues she had her Epic Touch, I swore I would never own anther Samsung again. But with the lack of support from HTC on existing phones and seeing friends with the S3, S4 and Note2 without issues, I figured I'd give them another shot. I mean I likeed my EVO LTE but this phone is so much faster and I love the larger screen. Plus, so much easier to root this phone compared to the EVO LTE.

I had MI5 but just ran the MJ4 firmware in Odin yesterday and took less than 30 seconds. There is no newer firmware than MJ4 currently. I used Odin to root my phone as I'm not concerned with tripping Knox.

[Q] Unroot Verizon S4 on MC5

Hi, I'm kinda new here, well just created an account have been using the site for info for quite some time. So here is my problem. My Verizon s4 i545 has been rooted since the day I got it, literally. I had no intentions of upgrading to MC5 but while my brother was using my phone, the notification for the software update popped up and he clicked on it like a Dumb A**. So now I have a rooted S4 with MC5 firmware, and it is giving me all kinds of problems. Most noticeably, it freezes constantly, to the extent I have to take out the battery and do a hard reset. *Takes breath* So, I am in need of help, I want to unroot my phone for the time being. I can not find a download for i545VRUFNC5 stock firmware. I know I have to use oden for the flash. Can I get away with using the stock ME7 rom? or will that brick my phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I just discovered a download for the MC5 but the sites servers are experiencing problems and download speeds are around 2kb/s. Thats a no go. So now i'm looking for alternates. Thanks in advance!
MC5?
Kick Out the Jams!
Mc5 is the end of the build number of 4.4.2. At least it is for verizon.
Last I heard it was NC5. I would find surge1223's thread that has the no wipe odin file for NC5 and flash this.
