I have searched everywhere on XDA and Google before posting this. If I am wrong, please lead me in the right direction.
I am Requesting a Firmware.
Xperia Ray St18a 4.0.2.a.0.42 Gingerbread 2.3.4 for North America (Canada) Firmware and cannot find it in FTF file format flashable via FlashTool.
The closest I got was the CE (Central Europe) Version Generic Firmware which turns my St18a into St18i which I am afraid will not work with Rogers/Fido. This is a Telus branded phone which I want to unlock for Rogers/Fido Network. It was on Ice Cream Sandwich but ICS was causing many problems. Constant crashing, Rebooting, Freezing, and it was just in general a horrible experience. So I decided to downgrade it to Gingerbread 4.0.2.a.0.42 for North America and I can not find it anywhere. There was a Dropbox link I came across but that seems dead. This has been quite a frustrating endeavor and I am hoping someone reads my message who has the North American 4.0.2.A.0.42 Gingerbread 2.3.4 for this St18a. Fingers crossed...Please someone out there?

hey guys, like most of you, i've been waiting for this update eagerly. i'd like to install the nordic generic FW in order to be able to update to 2.1 but i'm unsure as to what it will affect on my phone, if anything.
i'm from South Africa and i'd like to know if using the nordic firmware will affect my network access (to MTN South Africa) or anything else that might change after i install the nordic FW. any assistance will be highly appreciated.

Not sure why you couldn't have read, and posted here - X10 R2BA026 Nordic Flashtool
I am currently using NTT Docmo Xperia x10 on android 1.6. Its model is SO-01b and i want to upgarde to android 2.1 and unlock the phone as well. But i am not clear which version to use , nordic or global. I am not sure but on according to wikipedia nTT docomo so-01b is based on x10a.
Please someone help me if anyone could give me suggestion.
My Docomo X10 is flashed to global generic 2.1 and running just fine.
Just don't forget to write down your APNs so you can put them back.
You want the "bizho" one, since that's the network where your internet fees are capped.
Thanks for the response gtkashi.I am now in Nepal and want to make the phone work here in Nepal by upgrading to android 2.1. Could u please clarify me whether flashing would make the phone sim free.
it won't. You're just updating the software, not unlocking the phone.
Get in contact with nttdocomo to see what their policies/costs for unlocking your phone are or try to see whether there's some shady services for unlock codes by now.
Global to Docomo firmware 2.1
With this upcoming update for Docomo, if you currently have global 2.1, how would we "instruct" SEUS to flash the Docomo firmware? Would we need to edit some *.prop ?
Personally I'm hoping someone would extract the firmware itself so that the flasher tool can be used to overwrite the existing one.
Either way, 30 min til Nov 10!

Hi!
I bought an X10 Mini about a month ago (Unlocked Latin American) and I've falshed it 2 times through SEUS, I was checking the back of my phone and it says SI 1237-3271 (from what I've gathered this is the General Latin American CDF), however I opened my default-capability.xml not only does it say that my model is and E10i (and it can't be since it's Latin American and I have a 3G connection in Colombia) but it also says that the phone's CDF is 1238-5790.
Does anyone know if this might be a problem when I try to update to 2.1 or any other kind of problem at all?
Thanx
if you are on your oficial firmware or the firmware what you wabt to stay... try doing a repair with PC companion, i downgrade from 2.1 nordic or whatever to the 1.6 nordic or whatever.... then i change my build.prop to the orginal one from my claro carrier, then do a repair, so i was on the original firmware claro again but Not 3G/UTSM band support, i repair it again and the problems gone
If your build prop refers to 1238-5790 it should be good for updates to 2.1. That is a E10a code.
Thanks for your answers, I realized that both CDFs are correct, the problem is that no update has been release for any E10a that I know of.
Hi
Anyone know where to find stock firmware for Xperia sola for Baltic region (Latvia)? Doesn't matter 2.3 or 4.0 Android.
The thing is week after going back to stock firmware (don't know what region, definitely not Baltic) from some custom roms my microphone stopped working. Phone now is not rooted and bootloader was never unlocked, so there shouldn't be any problems with warranty if I can find anywhere stock firmware for Baltic region, but unfortunately so far - no luck.
As much as i know you must use Central Europe version, right?

I already tried both of them, none of them is what I had before, both have some additional aps that I didn't have before.
Which firmware (Baltic or Nordic) I can install on my Generic Z2 bought from Sony Canada Directly?
Thanks
any generic firmware can be used on your device
I've read that as well. My question is why does Sony release numerous generic unbranded ftf files? What's the difference between Nordic generic unbranded ftf and say North American generic unbranded? And if there's no difference, why not just release one single universal generic unbranded ftf? Mind you I don't think North American ftf is rolled out yet.

ril and wifi/mobile data firmwarw is addapted for each region
(not to mind bloatware too)
Ahh. I wonder if that's what was causing me wifi and Data drops with 4.4.4. I was using North American unbranded (I'm in Canada) but I never did try any other unbranded regions.

It shouldn't effect WiFi cause it is same around the world. I was more concerned about LTE radio . I bought the phone directly from Sony so there minimum bloatware, weren't anything except the Sony apps and vine which I removed.
I installed the Nordic version everything seems good so far. Followed the following article

That's good to know at least.. What's the difference between that method and just downloading the ftf and flashing that though?

Nothing I think you are skipping the first two steps
1) Downloading the files from Sony servers
2) Creating the ftf file from that
This gives you choice downloading files for any region
